Blueeyeddevil06, thank you for being my beta!

Yamato frowned down at the report gripped tightly in his hands. He had been right; it didn't matter to the Dark Kingdom that one of their yakuza members was shot. The setup for the coming turf war now left six more dead bodies they knew about.

Six bodies in total, four Terras, and two Dark Kingdom members that looked to be killed by the yakuza supposedly responsible. This was not a setup–this time.

Artemis walked in, wincing at the rank smell, then closed and locked the big metal doors behind him. "Usagi is meeting now with one vampire, a witch, and four werewolves. And gosh, that's a weird-ass sentence."

Yamato chuckled and asked, "are the werewolves the ones working for Diamond?"

"Yeah, four inside guys. Well, you know what I mean."

Yamato nodded and looked at the covered body next to him. "This isn't going to stop. What's the Chief's plan?"

"Boots on the street. And that I feel comfortable with. This is a distraction from Diamond. They are just violent humans. The cops are trained and prepared to meet these people. He has all the police working overtime as of five minutes ago, the detectives too. It's the heat of the summer, and tempers are boiling hot. This isn't going away."

"So we concentrate on the yakuza war as Usagi faces Diamond," Yamato said lightly.

Artemis rolled his eyes, "you aren't subtle. Deception isn't something you're good at. What is Diamond? A vampire?"

"No," Yamato said, shaking his head. Then as he explained everything to Artemis, he watched the truth dawn on him. Usagi wasn't a vigilante, she was trying to stop something even worse.

"So he bathes in their blood?" Artemis asked disgustedly. "That's just–vile."

Ami was confused when Kunzite ushered them into what she knew to be Nephrite's home. He smiled at her broadly and opened the door for both her and Zoisite. Then he winked at her. Not like a flirt, but like someone sharing a secret.

She had changed her shorts for a cute skirt, but it was Kunzite who insisted she didn't change her top. She hoped it was because he wanted her to show off her mated mark for some reason.

When Jadeite and Nephrite saw her, she figured it out. They instantly smiled and looked down at Zoisite's hand joined with hers.

Jadeite walked up, slung his arm over her shoulder and said, "welcome to the pack! What's your name?"

Zoisite saved her from stammering over her words in her shock. He said, "this is Ami and she's even smarter than me. Which means you guys can't even remotely keep up with her." She looked to quell his dig at his friends and realized they were all smiling. It confused her even more.

It was Nephrite who had pity on her confusion and said, "you're his mate. We see that clearly. To us werewolves, that makes you instantly like a sister to us."

Ami knew it couldn't have gone better. It wasn't like meeting a human family and being grilled as they decided if you were good enough for their loved one. She realized the mark Zoisite left on her meant they already liked and accepted her.

Fifteen minutes into their first meeting, she realized what the guys were doing. They were trying to make sure she liked them.

She finally said, "relax. Zoisite already told me all about you."

"Well, crap," Jadeite joked to everyone. "I'm sure you'll never like us."

She smiled and shook her head sweetly, "the three of you were a big part of why I trusted him with my heart. He's fiercely loyal to you and you to him. That says a lot about his character. Loyalty is important to me—my father lacks that to an astounding degree. I know I'm not a werewolf, but I already feel like you're family to me, or matter as much as family should." She almost laughed at the look of relief on their faces.

It was Nephrite who spoke next. "This is my mansion here. If you're wanting to move in, please know you have my invitation to do so."

"You have a room for me?"

Zoisite growled possessively. "Mine!"

"Yours," she automatically replied. She missed the look of joy on the pack-mate's faces when she knew what to say.

"You'd be in my bedroom. With me."

Ami turned and cupped Zoisite's cheek and said. "I would love that. Vampires are different from werewolves, but our love is intense."

"Now." Zoisite insisted. He didn't bother to hide his werewolf need for her. "I can't spend a night away from you."

"I'd like that."

Kunzite laughed as he watched the shock register on Jadeite and Nephrite's faces. It was so strong it was comical. Jadeite said, "wait, back that truck up again and repeat."

"That I'll move in?" Ami asked, looking at them both in confusion. "Nephrite said-"

"No, not that," Jadeite said, cutting her off. "Vampire?"

Nephrite nodded along with Jadeite's question and mumbled, "we really need to learn how to detect them."

Luna was feeling exhausted. She couldn't figure out why. There was a lot going on, but nothing she hadn't handled before. She refocused her eyes and looked back at her computer screen.

Her attention was grabbed by the ringing of her cell phone. She glanced at the number and frowned—it was her mother.

She put false cheer in her voice and answered, "Hi, Mom, how are you?"

"I need you at dinner Saturday, seven o'clock," her mother answered without preamble.

Luna grimaced. "I can't. I'm on forced overtime. What is it that you want?"

"You, married. You have to work with me, Luna. This guy is great. He's even a police officer. I listened to you, and I'm not trying to get you to marry someone who would want you to quit your job!" Her mother huffed out.

Well, dang, she thought. This was going to be awkward. But, really, she knew it was coming and she wasn't looking forward to the fallout. It was why she hadn't called her mother when she eloped. And a good portion of why she eloped.

She forced more cheerfulness into her voice when she said, "actually mom, I eloped. I'm married to a detective."

The dead silence from her mother scared her. She turned down the volume on her phone in preparation of her mother's screams of anger.

So, quietly, she heard, "oh thank goodness, I thought it would never happen!"

"What?" Luna asked as she turned up the volume.

She regretted it when she heard her mom yell, "Haru! Our little girl is finally married!" She winced at how loud it was.

Her mother then, in a normal voice, said, "when do we get to meet him? What's his name!?"

"His name is Artemis and we are both working over time. Can I get back to you with a day and time?"

Luna's brain was racing. How was her mother not mad? Granted, her reaction was easier to handle. The problem was it was incredibly insulting.

"Of course, my dear. A detective, that's so much better than a cop! I'm so excited."

Luna felt shell-shocked when she hung up the phone.

Motoki watched a man flirt with his blushing sister, and he felt sick to his stomach. It wasn't that he thought the guy was supernatural, he knew that wasn't the case. He also knew, from Usagi's warnings, what the tattoo on his neck meant. It was a member of the Dark Kingdom.

He casually caught a photo of the guy. Knowing it was something he would talk to his sister about and also Usagi.

He respected his sister too much to go behind her back. He knew too that his sister was pretty. If she stayed away from the guy at his warning, it didn't mean he'd stay away from her.
