Rei felt the walls in her heart instantly slam shut–hard. She barely felt Usagi take her hand, but she did feel her spin her to look directly at her. Usagi said, "do you doubt your skills as a witch? You just soul-walked. You're the fourth witch I've ever heard of that did that and survived. Even then, my mother couldn't move for an hour afterward." Rei was shocked. Usagi continued, "I believed you would be fine, but I didn't tell you before because I didn't want to scare you."
"What does this have to do with…" Rei looked at her pleadingly. She didn't want to let Jadeite know what they were talking about.
"You saw the vision; you know he's your match." Usagi chuckled, "you're right. Let him in and trust him. He's your match like Mamoru is mine. And if something happens and he hurts you, he won't be the first werewolf I've killed. They'll never find the pieces of his body."
Jadeite surprised Usagi by saying, "I like you. You're scary. And you would do anything to protect my mate."
Rei raised a sassy eyebrow at him. "I belong to you?"
He growled low and long. It sounded all wolf to Rei, and she found it incredibly arousing. He nodded and gave her a searing look, not caring that Usagi was there. She was trying to help him, after all. "I came to say you're mine. Take as much time as you need, but I'm not going to pursue you lightly. Every day you will know of my love and desire for you." He raked his eyes slowly over her body, lingering on her chest and licking his lips when he did. "This goes at your pace. If it were up to me, you'd be on your back right now, screaming in pleasure."
Usagi shoved Rei lightly toward Jadeite. "At least go on a date with the man."
"I thought we were going to dinner?" Rei asked Usagi.
"Can't. I have to cancel on you. Something came up," she smirked. "You're suddenly free this evening."
Jadeite walked over, took Rei's hand, and kissed the palm. "Have mercy on me and let me take you to dinner."
She blushed and nodded to him, and he pulled her into his arms and kissed her forehead. He closed his eyes then and breathed out a sigh. "Thank you. I need to even just be around you–so much."
Jadeite was so happy as he walked down the steps of the shrine hand in hand with Rei. Usagi had been a surprising ally for him. He didn't expect her to encourage Rei so strongly to be with him. He was grateful to both her and Ami. He decided he wouldn't fuss about the coasters anymore. He owed Ami big time for her surprisingly vulgar pep talk. It did get through to him, though.
He smiled at Rei and felt complete just looking at her. "Where do you want to go for dinner?"
"Surprise me," she replied.
He shook his head. "If it were up to me, I would get fast food and a hotel room." He then growled and scented her. "You know I can smell that it gets your panties wet when I do that."
She raised an eyebrow at him and said, "well, it's only fair. I can see your erection with my very human eyes."
"Impressed?" He asked cockily.
She stared at his crotch and raised an eyebrow. "Yes."
Jadeite chuckled, "it shouldn't surprise me that I'm playing with fire when I'm with you."
She groaned. "We are in the middle of the sidewalk. I completely lost track of where I was!"
He chuckled and walked side by side with her. "No one heard us."
"How can you tell?"
"I have incredibly good hearing too. No one was close enough to hear us. I wouldn't let you get embarrassed. I will protect you more than that."
She blushed again and said, "how about Sushi?"
"I know just the place!" He said. He then chuckled and said, "they can even deliver to our hotel room." She shoved his arm playfully, and he added, "I'm kidding!"
They were sitting at the restaurant and Rei had long given up trying to fight her arousal. She was fully aware he could smell how much she wanted him. He wasn't even trying to be fair. He had been honest before. It was at her pace, but he wasn't going to hide his desire. He wasn't making it easy on her. Even the way he ate looked sexy. He could also give her a smoldering look that would end up with him smirking because he could sense how hot she found it.
He moved his foot under the table and stroked her leg. She slammed down her napkin on the table, rattling the plates. "Oh, hell no."
"What?" He asked, faking innocence.
She locked eyes with him and said, "pay the bill. It's time to walk me home. You're enjoying torturing me too much."
"Oh?" He asked lightly. "I'm torturing you?"
She rolled her eyes dramatically at him. "Don't play innocent. It's beneath you."
"I'd like you beneath me."
Rei sighed as Jadeite walked with her through the torii gate. She was almost home and it left her feeling disappointed. She found him so stimulating to be around—mentally and physically.
She looked over at him and he was stone faced for the first time in her presence. She realized he was trying to hide his feelings about dropping her off and walking home alone.
She dropped his hand and looked around. The breeze was light that night and the weather was perfect. She smiled into the night and kicked off her shoes. He looked at her questioningly and she laughed then said, "give me a head start before you chase me." Then she ran as fast as she could.
She was off the path and heading into the woods. She was glad the moon was bright, it was a three quarter moon and it was beautiful. She darted around the trees, laughing playfully. She then heard something that drew goosebumps on her arms, and even though she knew she was safe, it stuck a primal fear in her—it was thrilling. She thought she was turned on before. Now she was being hunted through the dark woods by a werewolf. One who didn't want her blood; he wanted her body.
She ran again, being careful not to trip. She heard the snapping of a twig to her right. She pivoted left and ended up in the arms of a growling Jadeite. Desire she never felt before welled up in her and left her breathless. He looked otherworldly in the moonlight, growling. She felt the rumble in his chest as she was pressed to his body. "Mine!" He snapped out. She could tell the animal in him was worked up.
"Yours," she whispered. And suddenly it was clear to her what she had to do and say. "Have me. Take me here, in the woods."

Rei and Jadeite were both dressed and walking towards Rei's room when grandpa Hino stepped out. He crossed his arms, glared at Jadeite, and then said, "Rei, you have twigs in your hair."
She blushed furiously and combed her fingers through her hair, trying to knock them loose. "Umm…" she replied, she knew lamely.
"I'm Jadeite," he said awkwardly, trying to introduce himself.
Grandpa Hino took Rei's collar in his hand and pulled it back a bit. "You marked her."
Jadeite grew incredibly still and stared at the man. "What are you talking about?"
"I can see your werewolf mark. I might be old, but I have a few tricks up my sleeve."
"I didn't know humans could see them."
"She's not the only one in this family with magic. I'm not as powerful as her, but I've had time and determination on my side."
"You knew?" Rei asked, still shocked to her core.
"It's why I kept telling you to work with the Great Fire. All I could do was encourage your growth. I'm not able to teach someone as powerful as you."
She blinked owlishly at him. "Sorry I didn't come to you."
He shrugged, "it's not like I told you my suspicions. Plus you found Usagi. She's a better teacher than I could be. I knew she'd protect you."
"What don't you know?" Jadeite asked him, amazed.
"Plenty of things, but very little where my precious granddaughter is concerned. I make it my business to know."
Jadeite fidgeted then, "then…damn, I wish we got off on a better foot."
"You don't like me?" Grandpa teased.
Scoffing Jadeite said, "not to make everyone uncomfortable, but… I got caught with your precious granddaughter. She has sticks in her hair."
Grandpa Hino shrugged, "you marked her. I'm fully aware of what that means. It's more binding and more serious to you than marriage. In my mind, you are her husband in vow and deed. You can move in here. Unless she wants to move out and live somewhere else with you."
Jadeite rolled his eyes, "I'd rather gargle silver coins than ask her to move away from you. If you mean it and she wants me to; I'll move in."
