Blueeyeddevil06, thank you so much for being my beta!

"Kiss my fucking ass! I don't answer to you, you dumb-shit. Go fuck yourself!"

Kunzite, unimpressed with the moron's limited vocabulary, reached out quickly and grabbed him by the neck, choking him. "I told you…that you are to stay away from the pretty girl at the arcade. I'm not stupid. You're heading there now." He then released the man. He had overheard him talking to his other idiot friends, and he had said as much.

"What do you care?! Are you fucking her? That's it. You want to be the only one in that tight pussy. I bet she's so vocal in bed."

He growled and grabbed the guy by the neck again. "No, and you won't be either."

As he held the man, barely letting him breathe, he called Ami. "Can you help me for a moment?"

He then gave her his location.

She was there with her vampire speed a short time later. "What do you need?"

"I need you to compel him away from Unazuki. He might not know her name. Try 'hot girl he wants to fuck at the arcade.'"

Ami locked eyes with the man and compelled him. "You won't remember this whole conversation with us. And from now on, whenever you see Unazuki or the hot girl from the arcade, you will walk in the opposite direction. Also, you won't ever go to the arcade again."

"Thank you," Kunzite said. "I was hoping that threatening him was enough. Usagi had asked for my help." He dropped the guy and turned and walked away side by side with Ami, dismissing the guy from his thoughts.

Ami asked, "what do you think of Usagi?"

"Are you testing me?"

"No, you're the pack leader of my mate and not dating someone who's a vampire or tied to her in friendship." He chose not to comment but was still gratified that she referred to Zoisite as her mate. It wasn't a vampire term. It was obviously her relating to Zoisite in a way that he needed.

Kunzite sighed and brushed his hair behind his shoulder. "I feel like I'm working with the boogie man. That and how it's good to be on the side of our biggest threat. I feel like our small pack is risking things by working against Diamond, yes. But she's the biggest predator around."

He then added, "I feel like I'm serving my pack to work with her. Not to mention that they wouldn't have any of you women if they were loyal to Diamond."

"You're right. And it would have destroyed me and my trust in him. I didn't know about Diamond until he told me you were getting out. But if I found out about him after I had sex with him…I don't believe I could have ever forgiven him. He is a good man because he told me even when it was hard."

"They're all good men. I trust them with everything. He is going to have a hard time keeping his word and letting you risk yourself."

Ami smiled. "He warned me about that. I accepted that we might still fight about it, but I'll win. Do you know why?"

"Why?"

"Because he believes in me, even when I don't believe in myself. He's amazing."

Kunzite let out a huge breath. "That makes me happy for you to say that. You're right, I am the pack leader, and I take their happiness very personally. It's in my very make-up."

Ami then sighed and changed the subject. "Am I a nag?"

"What?!" He looked at her in shock.

"The coasters and things like that…I want-"

He cut her off. "You're not. It's good that you're there and acting more like a sister. It matters to Zoisite to see us interact well. You fit in. We all give each other a hard time. If we had to walk on eggshells around you, it would be difficult. You can dish it out, and you can take it. You're one of us, and it's good for the pack. I heard how you helped Jaedite."

"I'm a vampire…How does that fit?"

He laughed at her and shook his head. "No, you're his mate. That's all we need."

She sighed out harshly in relief. "Good, because it's nice to find a place where I feel like I belong. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't fooling myself."

"No, we're good. We like having someone who is like a sister to us. And hey, you've already been a help to me in stopping that guy. I'm glad vampires can compel people."

"Actually, we're all pretty powerful for vampires. Not all can. I think as time passes and so does blood, the abilities become more standard, but not everyone can compel people. Right now, it's mostly the female vampires that have it. Historically, the males that searched out the power used it to coerce obedience from women. They tend to end up killed by the very women they used. I know that is what happened with Usagi and the woman who turned me."

"Power in blood?"

She smirked up at him. "You don't know much about vampires, do you? To become one, you must die with vampire blood in your system. And all that initial blood does is turn you. That's a lot it has to do in the first place. Drinking vampire blood after that, a good amount, gives you the powers that vampire had. It's why Usagi is so powerful. She's killed a lot of rogue, awful vampires and then drank from them."

He looked up at the moon and stopped walking. "That would make her majorly powerful. I've at least heard stories of her defense of humans over the centuries. Can she get power from werewolves?"

Ami shook her head. "No, she can feed from them, but the power isn't compatible. Just like vampire blood doesn't work for food. We can't live off of drinking from our own kind."

He then asked, "why don't all the vampires have all the powers? They could just all share blood."

"And that works so well for humans to share power? No, that's not how anyone works."

"Good point."

They arrived back at the house, and Kunzite held the front door open for her. "Thank you for showing up for me tonight."

She smiled at him, "I was happy to."
