Motoki had given up pacing his apartment and calling Mamoru. He had already left five messages. He figured that would mean Usagi wouldn't answer either. Then his phone started blowing up with text alerts and Breaking News bulletins. He looked and smiled in relief. The man responsible was dead, and that meant his friends were safe.
He called Kunzite immediately. Kunzite answered, cursing. "Shit! I didn't think to update you."
"It's okay. Is everyone okay? Mamoru isn't answering."
He heard Kunzite sigh. "He's comforting Usagi. Taking down Diamond was so damn easy. Usagi, Ami, and Rei could have done it themselves. Actually, if we didn't decide to put his head on a stake, Rei and Ami could have done it all themselves. And all Ami did was crack a lock. Usagi blames herself for the bombing since he was killed so simply."
Motoki frowned, "how was she supposed to know that?"
"Exactly."
"And Yamato?"
"Not dead and healed from a gunshot wound."
"So the good guys won and came out whole. Well," he paused, thinking about the attack. "You know what I mean."
"Yeah, I know."
Kunzite said, "get some rest. And tomorrow, we're meeting at one in the afternoon at Usagi's penthouse. It's in the same building that Mamoru lives in."
"Penthouse?"
"Apparently, she's loaded."
He slept well that night.
Usagi smiled over at Mamoru. "Better?"
"Mostly. Sheesh, I was so horny. What time is it?"
She giggled, "eleven. We…" she moaned when he caressed her breast. "We've been making love for just over twelve hours."
He pulled her into his arms and kissed her neck. "Is this even normal? I still want you again!"
She rolled him to his back and impaled herself on him. She raised an eyebrow. "Do you have a problem with this?"
"No." He rocked his hips as she began riding him. "I just feel such a pull to be inside you. I was curious. I like facts."
They got lost in each other and were moaning and touching, tasting, biting, and frantically coming together.
Once they orgasmed, Usagi said. "Bloodlust?"
He shook his head. "No. I don't feel a pull to feed, and the blood tablets that Ami made work for me."
"We all have struggles when we become a vampire at the very first. Makoto's and Ami's were bloodlust. You know Makoto's body count and how she stalked rapists and killed them. It was how she could justify killing. She couldn't stop once she started. Ami struggled and even tried blood bank blood. The anticoagulants quickly had her throwing up. It's why she got the idea to make the blood tablets. She could stop and not kill someone, but it was hard, and it was close a few times. It passes pretty quickly, but some feel a different kind of lust. The blood doesn't control you. Your sex drive does." She smiled at him, "and I'm happy to go along with that one."
"What was yours?" Mamoru asked.
She frowned, closed her eyes, and sighed, "killing. It wasn't even for the blood." She looked at him. "I lusted for the death of those that hurt the weak. And I justified it. I still do. You saw me lose it over Diamond. It's still in me sometimes.
"There is lust for power, domination, and all sorts of variations. I just figured yours would most likely to be sexual." She smirked. "I was pleased."
"You tried to ensure that by having sex with me and then turning me, didn't you?"
She nodded. "Yes. I've seen so many types of vampire lust, and I knew sexual lust was the one you could handle the most. The one I could handle the most. I couldn't turn you into a killer."
He caressed her cheek and kissed her nose. "You were watching out for me when I didn't even know it."
She smiled. "Yes. But what do you expect? I adore you."
He gave her a heated look. "And sex, this, what I've become and how much I want you. It's so powerful. You're mine."
He then made love to her again, and Usagi, alerted by something he had said, lost the train of thought and lost herself in him.
One o'clock in the penthouse, humans, supernaturals, and the king and queen gathered. When Mamoru walked in with Usagi by his side, Ami and Makoto bowed to them without thought. It was an automatic response.
Mamoru cocked his head and suppressed the rising feeling in him. He didn't want to be sharing Usagi's company right now. It wasn't even for sex. He wanted to possess her. He tamped that feeling down hard.
"Report," he said gruffer than he meant to.
Kunzite immediately began to speak. "Sapphire was weird when we last saw him. Diamond wanted Jadeite to expand into the neighboring territories' drug trade. Sapphire insisted Jadeite have six days to formulate a plan. He could have easily done it in three, but Sapphire insisted. On its own, it was nothing. But I keep flashing back to how he mentioned he was surprised we moved so fast. With his actions in helping us, it makes me wonder if he was giving us time.
"And sorry, Makoto, but he saw through your compulsion. It worked. But he knew you compelled that man to confess. He scolded Nephrite and said he had been 'playing this game longer'." Kunzite then finished and nodded respectfully.
And then everyone got a bit distracted. The elevator dinged, and Usagi smiled, scenting who was coming. "And this will be fun," she said, smiling wide.
Luna was standing next to Rei and Makoto. It didn't surprise Usagi in the least. After all, Luna had introduced Usagi to both of them. Artemis was standing behind her almost like a bodyguard, and that pleased her. It was sad that he had been so scared for his beloved, but she liked the devotion.
That wasn't why she was looking that way, though. It was because of what was about to happen. Grandpa Hino walked in and froze in his steps. "Great Grandma, Great Grandpa, how? You're…you're younger than me? I don't understand."
Usagi smiled as everyone reacted in shock. "Grandpa Hino," she said, turning to the man. "They are reincarnated."
He walked over to Artemis, tears in his eyes. "You used to sit me on your lap and tell me stories." He turned to Luna, "and you always snuck me cookies!"
Luna was smiling, then her look morphed to one of irritation, and she started smacking Jadeite on the head. He ducked and said, "ow, what did I do!?"
"My Rei! She told me about…things. Stalking her through the woods!"
He defended. "It was her idea!"
"Oh, don't you blame my precious great-great-great granddaughter! You predator!"
He held his hands up in surrender. "I did mark her and claim her."
"In the woods!"
Rei facepalmed. "You thought it was hot before, Luna."
Luna glared at Jadeite, and Artemis pulled her into his arms. "Retract your claws. I think it's the hormones talking."
Makoto didn't even try to be quiet when she said, "oh shit! You did not just say that."
Luna turned on Artemis, and he threw his hands up in surrender. "I am absolutely in the wrong. Go back to hitting Jadeite. He's a sick pervert who treated our baby Rei wrong."
"Hey!" Jadeite yelled.
Artemis replied, "If it's you or me, don't be surprised if I push you under the bus."
"Damn, I'm not even mad," Jadeite admitted.
Rei, trying to defuse everything, said, "Wait, I have more family to love me?" That got Luna crying tears of joy and hugging her.
When everything settled down, everyone was caught up fully on what was happening, including Beryl and how she would be the next threat.
Sapphire was discussed too, Usagi admitted he sounded like he would approach them again. And they would just have to wait and see.
Usagi couldn't help feeling like she was missing something. So much was going on, though, and she was relieved that Luna would be researching Beryl now.
