Chapter 3: First meeting with the Marine

Tanya Degurechaff POV

Arriving close to town, behind what appears to be a tall building, possibly a residential building, as it did not appear to house corporate offices. It wasn't that tall, at least compared to the buildings built in its previous lives. But by climbing to the top, she would have the possibility of being able to observe the surroundings without being noticed.

Although having nothing to reproach herself for, Tanya wanted to avoid being seen with her military uniform on her. How would this country react if an unknown soldier walked freely through its streets?

Now it needed to be able to climb the top, and seeing the results of the flight spell, Tanya refused to consider that possibility. Climbing the building also seemed impossible, the potential holds were too far apart. With her small body, Tanya would be unable to use them, moreover, the building seemed to measure a good ten meters high.

An idea suddenly comes to mind, recalling her training during her early days in the army. A classmate had jumped over the ammunition shed so he could discreetly go into town to join friends to go drink in a bar.

Of course, Tanya had reported the soldier at the time. "The army is an organization governed by rules, not following them would sink the institution," Tanya said to herself at the time.

However, the idea of using body reinforcement to get over big obstacles was far from silly.

Tanya then took a few steps back to gain some momentum and strengthened her little legs as much as possible to be able to jump as high as possible. It was only after a long breath that she took one step after another.

Arriving a few meters in front of the building, she flexed her legs and jumped. She managed to cling to the edge of the roof with the help of both hands.

Once hoisted to the top of the building, she approached the opposite edge and began to observe the surroundings of the city, and more particularly the street below.

Tanya was amazed at what she saw. The city was huge, the architecture was completely different from what she had known in her previous lives. Relatively simple shapes were used to shape the buildings. The vast majority of buildings were white. But the most amazing thing is that this town seems to have developed in the middle of the forest, right in the middle of the tall trees that Tanya had noticed when she arrived. In the distance, she could also make out a kind of amusement park, with its roller coaster and Ferris wheel. The roads, on the other hand, did not seem to be tarred or even paved. Well-kept grass allowed people to move around town.

Sweeping her gaze over the city, Tanya could notice some plumes of smoke rising toward the sky. And looking in the direction of the smoke, she noticed that some buildings were partially or completely destroyed.

"Is this world also at war?" Tanya wondered.

Suddenly, several screams rose from the street below her, disrupting her thoughts. Glancing down, Tanya saw that the street was also partially destroyed. Several men were running in all directions. Some were busy clearing the rubble, others were tending to the wounded moaning weakly on the ground.

The common point with these men was the uniform that everyone seemed to be wearing. It closely resembled the sailor uniform worn by soldiers of the Imperial Navy. The pants were a navy blue color, while the top was made up of a kind of white shirt that closed on the side. The collar of the shirt was held in place by a kind of little scarf in a slightly lighter blue. Finally, a cap was placed on their head where the inscription "MARINE" could be read. Some soldiers also wore a coat over their shoulders that read "justice".

The one that particularly caught Tanya's attention was next to the remains of what appeared to be a fountain. Sitting on rubble, this man, who even seated, seemed gigantic. It must have measured at first sight not far from three meters high. It wasn't just his height, his attire set him apart from everyone else. He was not wearing the same uniform as the other soldiers.

His pants as well as his shirt were composed of vertical stripes with two different shades of yellow. He also wore his coat over his shoulders. It was also white. The end of the sleeves was yellow. The word "justice" was also present on the back.

At first sight, it must have been the commander of the men present in the street. As if to confirm Tanya's hypothesis, a soldier appeared in front of this man, saluting him.

They were discussing together, but Tanya was too far away to be able to hear the tenor of the discussion. But after a few minutes of exchange, the soldier saluted the man in yellow and left in the direction of what appeared to be his squad.

"He must surely pass on the instructions communicated by the man in yellow" Tanya thought while refocusing on the latter who stood up in the most nonchalant way possible. Although too far away to hear him, Tanya could guess that the man must be sighing from the effort.

Once up, she saw him reach out his arm and slightly pull the left sleeve of his shirt back revealing a kind of small watch attached to his wrist.

After a few seconds, the man in yellow began to chat with his watch. It had to be some kind of radio transmitter or something similar, Tanya concluded.

Amiral Borsalino Kizaru POV

The day will have been tiring until the end, originally called for an emergency on the Sabaody Archipelago to eliminate a direct threat around the Celestial Dragons caused by a small group of pirates.

Kizaru encountered a bit of resistance along the way, some Pirates as well as some Supernovas had pitted themselves against him. But nothing insurmountable, as expected, none was able to compete against his strength as well as the powers of his devil fruit: the Pika Pika no mi. In addition to giving him powerful destructive power, his fruit allowed him to move at the speed of light. And to top it off, his body had become intangible. His body being composed of light, it was impossible for a large majority of the inhabitants of this world to be able to touch him.

Despite this power, Kizaru was frustrated, indeed, he was able to apprehend a very large number of pirates, however, the pirates for whom he had made the trip had managed to escape him. If not for the intervention of the Dark Lord, Silver Rayleigh, the capture of the Straw Hat crew could have been made today.

Bartholomew Kuma, one of the Seven Great Corsairs had taken charge of the capture of the Straw Hat crew, assuring the Admiral that he had taken care of it personally. However, seeing no prisoners or even a corpse, Kizaru had doubts about the corsair's assertion.

Reminiscing about recent events in preparation for his report and watching the soldiers under his command tend to the wounded. His thoughts were interrupted by the ringing of his Den Den Mushi.

Den Den Mushi :

Poudé Poudé Poudé Poudé

Poudé Poudé Poudé Poudé

gatcha

Kizaru: Mochi Mochi? Kizaruuu the device, to whom do I have the honor?

Voice through Den Den Mushi: Kizaru, this is Son Goku speaking. What is the situation in the Sabaody archipelago?

Kizaru: Ohhh Seengoku San, everything is under control again, the vast majority of pirates there have either been defeated or apprehended.

Sengoku: And the Tenryuubito? (Heavenly Dragons) How are they?

Kizaru: They're alive, but unconscious, they're already on their way to Mary Geoise aboard a medical frigate. According to the doctors, they should wake up within a few hours.

Sengoku: What about Monkey D. Luffy and his crew?

Kizaru: It's pretty annoooying Sengoku san, I couldn't get my hands on them, Silver Rayleigh interfered during our fight. So I don't know the status of the Straw Hats. Bartholomew Kuma told me he had taken care of it.

Following this announcement, a short silence settled. But he was quickly interrupted by many laughs. At the same time, a soldier stood at attention in front of the Admiral, waiting to report.

Sengoku: Shut up Garp! Kizaru, I need you back in Marineford, Impel down prison transfer from Portgas D. Ace will happen soon. I need your presence to finalize the preparations for the execution. Aokiji is already on his way and Sakazuki is already there.

Kizaru: Received Sengoku saaan, I'm already on my way.

As soon as Kizaru was able to confirm receipt of his next orders, the communication broke down. When the roll call ended, Borsalino looked at the soldier who had come to attention during the roll call. The soldier was waiting to report to his superior, and once he was granted permission to speak, he began to explain the situation.

Marine: Sir, I wanted to inform you that we received a communication from the medical frigate, Saint Rosward, Saint Sharlia as well as Saint Charlos woke up just now. They will not have any after-effects from their injuries however, according to recent reports, they are furious with the events. They will inform the world government.

Kizaru: Alright, what else?

The Admiral's lack of interest in Tenryuubito seemed to trouble the soldier, but Kizaru didn't care much about their business. Tracking down pirates was, he said, the main mission of the Marine, not being their watchdogs.

"As for the pirate prisoners," the Marine continued, "they are all being taken to our HQ on Grove 66 for questioning."

Kizaru: Have they all been apprehended? Is there any resistance left?

Marine: At first glance, there are no more fights. We have launched an alert signal to the population so that they can evacuate the area, making it clear that anyone remaining on the scene will be considered suspicious.

To be able to complete his law enforcement mission quickly and be able to return to Marineford, Kizaru deployed his Observation Haki. Admittedly, he was not an expert in this field, but he was able to spot individuals in a certain area.

Once the Haki was deployed, Kizaru visualized in his mind all the people present in his sector. He recognized without great difficulty all the soldiers under his command.

To facilitate reconnaissance and avoid unpleasant surprises, each soldier was ordered to move in pairs. Officially for their safety, unofficially to facilitate recognition of Observation Haki users.

Nothing manifested in the area until his haki encountered a suspicious life form. The latter was secretly perched on the roof of a building near his position. Once the position of the intruder was confirmed, Kizaru positioned his hands glued to his chest and placed them as if he were holding an ostrich egg.

Kizaru : "Yata No Kagami"

General POV (omniscient)

As soon as Kizaru uttered these words, his body vanished, much to the surprise of Tanya who continued her observation, to give way to a blinding light.

Using the various windows at his disposal, Kizaru "ricocheted" his light body off them and almost instantly went behind Tanya.

"A little girl" wondered Kizaru, "how could she climb up here"? What surprised the Admiral the most was the outfit that this little girl wore, she wore a sort of green military uniform and a cap covering her blond hair. She was not very tall, she must have been between 140 and 150 cm (5'4).

The latter was still in shock, the man in yellow had just disappeared before her eyes. No spell he knew was capable of performing this feat. She continued to search for the man.

The years of experience accumulated in the various theaters of war in her previous life had allowed Tanya to develop what she called her "survival intuition". This intuition often allowed him to survive many traps or ambushes set by the enemy.

It is this same intuition that allowed him to understand that the man in yellow had simply positioned himself behind his back.

Then remembering the size of the latter, Tanya immediately used a Body Strengthening spell so that she could be able to jump higher, because without strengthening, Tanya could hope to reach Kizaru's knees.

Once the spell was almost instantly applied, she jumped while turning around and arrived at the level of the Admiral's stomach.

Kizaru absolutely did not expect this reaction. But he immediately sensed the danger because a very powerful killing intent emanated from the small body in front of him.

Arriving at her opponent's stomach, Tanya formed as she had previously done a quick Mage Blade on her right arm and aimed a sideways blow from left to right at the stomach.

Kizaru sensing the blow coming thanks to his haki, took a quick step back and dodged the blow at the very last moment.

"Damn" Tanya suddenly said, seeing that she had missed her shot, she threw herself back in the direction of the street below.

Kizaru watched the young girl jump into the void, to land safely, forming a small crater upon landing.

"She must have consumed a devil fruit," Kizaru thought, watching his troops surround the girl.

Tanya prepared for battle, the situation was quite complex, on one side she was surrounded by infantrymen who did not seem to be mages. On the other, the kind of supernatural being that moves at the speed of light.

She couldn't fly away like she could have done in the past, and couldn't afford to engage fifty men in hand-to-hand combat. She then bet on her magic shield, seeing that the vast majority of soldiers were carrying guns. Her only fear was that the shield wouldn't be strong enough to stop rifle bullets.

As she prepared to grab her Luger, a voice came from the ranks of the soldiers forbidding her to move. An order that obviously Tanya did not follow.

The moment she grabbed her Luger, the soldiers shot Tanya. But the bullets were stopped by the magic shield to Tanya's great satisfaction. Looking at the ground, she noticed that it was not modern ammunition but mini balls, like those of the old rifles of her old world.

"Let's see," Tanya sneered, "that's not how you're going to be able to hurt me." She began to approach the soldiers with a maniacal smile, scaring some who dropped their guns.

Kizaru, who watched the scene from the roof of the building, could not believe that this little girl was able to scare some of his soldiers, especially since she did not use any form of Haki. The most mysterious was obviously her powers. How could she survive such a fall while protecting herself from the hail of bullets that were intended for her? What kind of devil fruit could this kid have eaten?

Seeing that the bullets did not affect their opponent, the soldiers began to retreat, until one of them shouted "seastone net!" Immediately afterward, a shot was heard and a net was thrown in the direction of Tanya hindering her afterward.

"What is ?" Tanya wondered, followed by several shouts of victory from the soldiers. They had captured the last threat in the vicinity.

Tanya didn't understand why they were rejoicing like this... It was just a vulgar trickle.

"Well it doesn't matter" murmured Tanya activated her mage blade and channeled the energy seeing that the material of the net was more resistant than a classic net. Once the spell was channeled, Tanya sent her arm and the blade in the direction of the sky, cutting the net without much difficulty.

The soldiers were paralyzed with fear in front of this little girl who had just cut one of the strongest minerals in the world.

"A demon !" shouted some soldiers, "A monster! "

Kizaru understood the threat the little blonde posed. These powers are absolutely not related to any devil fruit. And that's what worried him the most.

Kizaru took advantage of the fact that Tanya started heading towards his men to fight them to use his "Yata No Kagami" to, once again, position himself right behind the girl. Curiously, the protective sphere of the young girl did not interrupt him during his movement, because his body, not being tangible, the shield could not block anything.

Obviously, Tanya wasn't expecting it either because what Kizaru saw in Tanya's eyes when she turned around was nothing but pure surprise. Seeing that he had the opportunity to incapacitate her, Kizaru took the opportunity to elbow Tanya behind the back of the neck which knocked her unconscious instantly, and collapsed on the ground.

YEAAAAHHHHH, long live Admiral Kizaru! shouted the soldiers while celebrating their victory.

Kizaru meanwhile looked at the small body lying on the ground pensively.

The adrenaline had subsided, Kizaru felt a small pain coming from his stomach, looking closer he noticed a cut, not deep enough to be alarming. Putting his hand on the source of the pain, he noticed blood flowing from that cut.

She managed to hurt me without haki when I'm a logia? Kizaru thought, looking at his bloody hand. I need to take it to HQ so we can study it.

Kizaru: Tie her very firmly, especially at the level of the arms, and bring her to my ship.

Marines: Good!
