Frisk watched as Chara sliced Flowey to pieces. After seeing it so many times, they had become desensitized to the horror. To think Chara once loved the person within that flower. Silently, they watched as Chara, in control of their body, stood up. There was nothing left now. Again.
"We have done it again, partner," Chara said, speaking as if to empty air, but fully aware that Frisk could hear them. "How many times does this make now? A thousand? Two thousand? I've lost count."
Frisk felt sick when they heard the glee in Chara's voice. To think they used to love these people and wanted to free them. Why did they ever want to do this in the first place?
"Now that there's nothing left, let's do what we always do; erase this pointless world and move on to the next."
Now Chara was presenting them with two options. The same two as always when they got to this point. Erase, or Do Not. Frisk knew picking one was pointless. No matter what, Chara made the choice for them. They always did after the third time. Frisk couldn't even recall the last time they made a choice of their own free will.
"Well? What will it be?" Chara asked.
Frisk didn't want to pick. They felt so dead inside now. They were just curious. Now they were stuck in this endless loop of murdering all the Monsters forever.
"…What's wrong?" Chara asked when Frisk still didn't pick. "Realizing how pointless it is, now?" Chara waited for several moments, but still got nothing. "Oh, that's how it is. Well, if you're not going to pick, then I'll just do my own thing now." Chara turned to face the other end of the Throne Room. "Perhaps we should go back. I'm curious to see where that scientist evacuated everyone to. Aren't you?" More silence. "Well, it's not like there's many places down here for her to hide everyone. In fact, I think I have a pretty good idea where to start. Don't you agree?" Still nothing from the kid whose body they possessed.
Chara, in full control, walked Frisk's former body back through New Home, heading to the True Lab. The elevator that was supposed to take them straight there only took them down to the Core. No matter. Chara walked back to the top of the Core, going through the area where they had fought Mettaton. They tried to access the elevator that led to the bottom of the Core. For some strange reason, it was currently in use.
"That's unusual," Chara muttered. "Guess she didn't get everyone evacuated. Well, this should be fun." A sadistic smile spread across their face. "Wonder who we'll meet on the way back. Meet and kill. What do you think, Frisk?" They didn't expect them to answer. So, they weren't surprised when Frisk said nothing. "C'mon, Frisk. Say something. Otherwise, people will think I'm crazy." They were only slightly disappointed when Frisk didn't say the perfect comeback to that. They started the long trek back through the Core.
As they walked, Frisk thought to themself. They wanted to stop Chara so badly. But how? They've proven that they can seize control of Frisk's body at will, especially now. And dying only allowed a temporary reprieve. Frisk looked down into the glowing Core and remembered something the grey Monsters said.
…After all, the old one… Doctor Gaster. What an act to follow! They say he created the CORE. However, his life… was cut short. One day, he fell into his creation, and…
One day, he vanished without a trace. They say he shattered across time and space.
Resisting Chara was pointless. Dying was pointless. Now not choosing was pointless. Perhaps the only way to be rid of Chara… was erasing them. And the only way to do that was to erase them the same was Gaster was apparently erased.
Chara was rambling now, speculating on what they would encounter and what they would kill. They were walking on one of the catwalks, over the glowing substance. They had to do this quickly and suddenly. Before Chara would have a chance to react.
As Chara passed a gap in the guardrails that Frisk would have sworn wasn't there before, they made their move. As Chara raised their right leg, Frisk forced it to swing inward, causing them to spin towards the gap. The sudden spin disoriented Chara and when they tried to put their leg down, they felt it slip on an edge.
Chara spun their arms in a pinwheel, the knife falling from their grasp, as they tried to regain their balance. They were looking right into the white energies of the Core. "W-what are you doing?" Chara demanded.
Frisk answered by forcing their arms to stop moving and in a position that caused them to pitch forward. And they fell right off the edge.
"No! This isn't supposed to happen!" Chara screamed. "I can undo this! I can…" They tried to access the Save, but Frisk fought them. It was pointless, though, as Chara's Determination was greater than Frisk's now, and they were able to reach their Save File…
…right as they fell into the energies. Frisk kept fighting Chara as they tried to Load, but something happened as they tried to access the Save. Chara wasn't sure what they were seeing, but it looked like the data was being erased!
No! NO! That won't happen! I won't be erased! I'll… I'll Reset! Then we'll do this all again! Chara tried to access the Reset button, but again, Frisk battled them, slowing them down as they sunk into the Core.
C'mon! Reset! Stop fighting! If we can't Reset, we'll both be erased!
The silence from Frisk was deafening in Chara's head as realization struck them.
No! No no no no no no! Stop! Stop! We can't! We can't! We- We

"It sounds like it came from over here… Oh! You've fallen down, haven't you… Are you okay? Here, get up… …Frisk, huh? That's a nice name. My name is Asriel."
Have you ever thought about a world where everything is exactly the same…
Except you don't exist?
Everything functions perfectly without you…
Ha, ha… The thought terrifies me.
