POV: Tanya Von Degurechaff

Location: Sabaody Archipelago

The debriefing of the accident had lasted only a few minutes, Admiral Kizaru was not a very contentious man, and this fact had been confirmed during their meeting. Tanya had been surprised to find that her superior did not write any formal reports. He had scribbled unrelated keywords on a blank page.

"He may be an excellent officer in the field" Tanya, thought as she headed towards her room. "However, I don't think he became an admiral because of his administrative skills".

When she arrived in her room, she took care to locked the door to her room to avoid being disturbed. She put down the small chest that she had been carrying with her since her return from the auction, taking care not to shake it further.

Having lost the key to the padlock on the chest, Tanya concentrated a small amount of magic on her right index finger and with a clean and precise, cut the padlock holding the chest closed. Delicately and without the slightest sudden movement, she carefully placed the devil fruit on the desk. Its shape and atypical orange color made the fruit fascinating to observe. A sort of demonic aura seemed to emanate from it.

"If I believe Disco, if a person were to eat a piece of this fruit, they would be granted the ability to modify as they wish the shape of the objects they touch…" While remembering the information from the master of ceremonies, Tanya took the opportunity to take out her small notebook from her pocket to write down the new information. The notebook was in a pitiful state, but nevertheless remained a real gold mine for Tanya. Even if she sometimes regretted not having access to a cell phone or tablet.

"Such power would be a significant asset," Tanya admitted, closing her eyes as if she were about to debate with herself. "However, the cost of the trade-off is too great for my liking. No longer being able to swim in a world made up of 80% would be a huge disadvantage."

Tanya let out a long sigh before grabbing the fruit while rotating it to observe it closely. "With what just happened with Visha, giving this fruit to a subordinate would not be wise. There is no guarantee that it will follow me indefinitely. Perhaps I should consume it myself, that way, its power cannot escape me..."

After observing the fruit for a few moments, Tanya brought it to her mouth and mentally prepared herself to eat it reluctantly. After hesitating for a few moments, the young girl opened her mouth wide and remained in that position.

"We're turning off the lights. Training tomorrow will be more intense than usual, so get ready, you guys!"

A deep voice from the hallway began echoing throughout the floor, startling the young girl. She reconsidered what she was about to do, she placed the fruit next to the small chest and then climbed into bed.

"Before doing anything, I should first confirm that this fruit matches what I purchased. If there's one thing I've learned over the last few years, it's to be cautious about any information I might receive. I think a quick trip to this base's library is in order, they must certainly have a copy of the Devil Fruit Encyclopedia that I was able to read at HQ..."

Directing her gaze toward the sky, Tanya gazed wistfully at the moon in the sky. No matter what world she was in, this celestial object didn't seem to change.

The library on this base was undoubtedly half the size of the one at HQ, but the quantity of books was still impressive. Tanya had got up at dawn so that she could enjoy this space dedicated to knowledge without being disturbed.

Sitting at the only table in the room, near the only window, the young girl had set up her work space. Her small notebook in front of her, as well as her chest containing the famous devil fruit. At first, she had been hesitant to take it with her, but in order to compare it directly to the photographs of the fruits listed, she had accepted the risk of transporting it.

In addition to her small notebook, Tanya also brought two large first book was the encyclopedia she had already read, and the second was what appeared to be an ancient volume, judging by its thin cover.

"I should start with the encyclopedia that I already know, although I have serious doubts about having ever seen this fruit inside. At least the source will be 'official'."

After immersing herself for many minutes in the encyclopedia, none of the hundreds of articles inside allowed her to identify her fruit. Frustrated by the absence of results, Tanya closed the enormous book and placed it at the other end of the table. Letting out a long sigh, she grabbed the damaged book and studied it carefully.

According to the cover of the book, it also seemed to deal with devil fruits.

On its cover could be seen a purple spherical shaped fruit with a stem coming out of the top, with swirls forming a curly "S" shaped pattern. its overall appearance closely resembles that of a Yubari king.

As she had noticed earlier, the cover of the book was quite damaged. Its cover, yellowed with age and numerous black spots, gave the impression of having been thrown into a fire. Delicately Tanya turned the book over and realized that no text was present on the back cover of the book.

The name of the book's author had partially disappeared., but part of it was still decipherable: "Professor Clov…"

Flipping through the book, hundreds of devil fruits seemed to be listed inside. Each characteristic, whether the description of the fruit, the strengths and weaknesses, seemed indicated in the work.

"How come such a book is here? This is a veritable mine of information, one must be completely unconscious to leave such a document freely available to all." As she continued to turn the pages, a detail caught the attention of the ancient mage. In places, some pages seemed to have been torn out, as if trying to hide something.

"Curious, why would someone tear out pages from such a work?".

Origins and Myths

The origins of Devil Fruits remain shrouded in mystery. Some ancient accounts suggest that they were created by divine beings to test and punish humanity, while other theories posit that they were born from the chaotic energies of the cosmos. Whatever their origin, these fruits have found their place in countless legends and myths around the world, becoming symbols of supernatural power and exceptional destiny.

Categories and Varieties

Devil Fruits are classified into three main categories: Paramecia, Zoan and Logia. Each of these categories grants unique powers to their holders. Paramecia Fruits grant special and varied abilities, from bodily transformations to manipulative powers. Zoan Fruits allow users to transform into an animal or hybrid creature, while Logia Fruits grant the ability to transform into a natural element and control its properties. Each of these fruits will be listed in this work in its own category."

Directing her gaze to the small chest in front of her, Tanya began to think about the category of fruit she had obtained. "According to this book, my devil fruit would be classified as a Paramecia since it does not allow one to transform their body into elements or creatures. This information will make my job a lot easier…" Tanya thought with delight as she resumed reading..

Powers and Limitations

Each Devil Fruit is linked to a specific power, often reflecting the personality or desires of its bearer. However, these extraordinary powers do not come without their share of limitations and constraints. Devil Fruit holders lose their ability to swim, a weakness frequently exploited by their opponents. Additionally, powers can vary in mastery, requiring constant training to reach their full potential.

Ethics and Responsibility

Possession of a Devil Fruit raises complex ethical and moral questions. The wielders of these extraordinary powers must choose how to use them, whether for the good of humanity or for their own interests. Stories abound with examples where the power of Devil Fruits has been used in benevolent ways, but also cases where it has led to conflict and disaster.

Once she finished reading the introduction, Tanya went straight to the rest of her reading and carefully leafed through the book in the paramecia category in search of her fruit. She passed by several fruits, each more bizarre than the last. Some allowed the user to change their weight, while others granted complete invisibility.

Tanya said with irony and a smile on her lips, 'If we had possessed such powers on the front, the battlefields would have lost all meaning.'"

She continued to leaf through the book looking for an orange fruit until one appeared to physically match the fruit she had in her possession. By studying the page, she discovered that it might be the Yomi Yomi no Mi. According to this book, it was a fruit capable of bringing its user back to life.

Before continuing her research, the young blonde opened her chest to compare her fruit with the drawing in the book. And when she opened it, she was surprised to see that the fruit had not only changed shape, but also color.

Its new form resembled that of a grenade. The orange color had given way to a deep and mysterious blue, with shades of midnight blue and ocean blue. The fruit had also become smaller than originally.

The body of the fruit was slightly textured, reminiscent of the familiar texture of the skin of a normal fruit. Intricate geometric patterns were inlaid in relief on the surface, creating an aesthetic visual patterns seemed to evolve gradually, suggesting the changing nature of the fruit.

The edges of the fruit were well-defined, giving the fruit a precise and angular structure. At the end where the stem would have been attached. The raised patterns on this devil fruit appeared to move slowly, creating an illusion of constant movement. The designs glowed slightly when hit by light, adding a touch of mystery to the whole thing

Stunned by this discovery, no words came out of her mouth. Still being alone in the library, a great silence hung over the room, only the sounds of footsteps of a few soldiers walking in the corridor broke the silence.

"I am absolutely sure that last night the fruit was an orange color and had a shape more like a melon... Why did it change shape? Neither book reported such an ability! "

She immediately resumed her research in the hope of finding her fruit and knowing more. Tanya flipped through the pages at high speed, paying no attention to any fruit that didn't match what she was looking for. It was only after a few minutes that she came across a page where no devil fruit visuals were shown. The drawings had left room for a large question mark. On the other hand, the name of the devil fruit and its characteristics were presented.

"The Forma Forma no MI / paramecia type"

Seeing the name of the fruit, the girl took another quick look at her fruit, as if to ensure that its shape had not changed and carefully, she then began to read the characteristics of this fruit.

"Forma Forma no Mi / Type paramecia

Awakening: no information available

Once finished reading, Tanya gently closed the book, letting out a small sigh of relief. In the end,the devil fruit she had purchased was exactly what she had expected. Tanya took the opportunity to close the small chest that contained her devil fruit.

"Thanks to this book, I now know the identity of this fruit and the abilities it can provide. However, the main problem is the loss of the ability to swim. I sincerely think that this could prove problematic in a world like this, and there is no question that my death could have anything to do with drowning! I know someone who would be extremely happy..."

Before leaving the premises, Tanya made sure to return the two books she had borrowed from the back shelves to their original places, while making sure to hide the old encyclopedia as much as possible.

"I can't leave such a valuable wealth of information here... I'll have to get a new notebook to copy every page of this book. I know that in the future this information will be vital to me…"

Just before she was ready to leave, Tanya glanced over her shoulder to make sure no one was nearby, then reached for the book again to tear out the page about her fruit.

"There is no way that such important information remains open for everyone to see." After putting the book back in its place, Tanya quickly left the library, feeling like a child who had committed a big mistake. Having always been used to strictly respecting the rules, it was really not her habit to transgress them, so much so that a small feeling of guilt had suddenly assailed her. "It's for my survival, I didn't do anything wrong, after all, I'm not the first person to have torn out a page from this book" Tanya reassured herself, remembering the deplorable state of the book.

Sabaody Three days later, in Sabaody Archipelago, after the discovery of the ancient encyclopedia

These last few days have proven to be tedious and trying for the little blonde who had endeavored to copy by hand each of the pages present in the encyclopedia. The amount of information she had assimilated was substantial, but nevertheless very useful for her survival.

During her rewriting sessions, Tanya had surprised herself by recognizing some of the fruits presented by the book. She instantly recognized the Pika Pika No Mi belonging to Admiral Kizaru, the Mera Mera no Mi of Portgas D. Ace, as well as Whitebeard's Gura Gura no Mi. All the powers provided by these fruits could be destructive, and would, without a doubt, have been capable of erasing an entire division of her old world. However, the inability to swim due to these powers was highly debilitating.

While searching for a solution to this problem, Tanya then recalled what had happened when Admiral Aokiji fell into the sea after receiving a direct attack from Whitebeard. The water instantly turned into ice upon contact. This meant that some Devil Fruit users had found alternatives to this problem.

Having reached this conclusion, Tanya then went to the place where she had initially woken up. With this small clearing and its stream her way there, she was surprised to see how well this part of the city had been restored. No rubble was left on the ground, and the buildings looked like new.

Sitting on a rock at the water's edge, the young girl tried to imagine various strategies to avoid drowning if she fell into the water. For a time, her best option was to fight in a suit, but that would greatly impair her mobility. Remembering her notes regarding the power of Forma Forma no Mi, no solution came to her. This fruit would have absolutely no impact on water and from the moment it comes into contact with it, its powers would no longer be of any use...

After a while, Tanya took a break from her thoughts. She didn't know how long she had been sitting on the small rock, but it allowed her to think quietly without being disturbed. She took the opportunity to lie down on the latter and took the opportunity to sunbathe. The sound of the water flowing nearby as well as the singing of birds made the moment very relaxing until a familiar laugh interrupted this moment of calm.

"Zehahahahanishishi"

Upon hearing it, Tanya instinctively went on the defensive, ready to fight as she looked in the direction from which the laughter was coming.

"Oh, my favorite little soldier" the former warlord who casually entered the clearing. As she looked between the surrounding trees, the young girl could see that the pirate had come alone, without his crew.

"What are you doing here ?" Tanya finally blurted out to her interlocutor while remaining on her guard.

"Rho, not like that with me, you know very well why I came to you…" the man replied, shrugging his shoulders before sitting down on the ground. "I didn't make this whole trip for nothing after all?"

"And what do you want me to tell you, the deadline is far too short, and I haven't had time to seriously think about it," she replied, waiting for his response, the pirate frowned, not in anger, rather he acted as if the answer he received wasn't sufficient.

"Come on, Captain, don't be so suspicious of me, our previous meeting was cordial, wasn't it?" Blackbeard asked, snickering, and began to nibble on a slice of pie that he had evidently kept in one of his pockets.

"He said "Captain"? How does he know I was promoted? Especially since no announcement had been made. Also, I don't have anything on my outfit that would indicate my rank today... Oddly enough, I find it different from the time we met. His questions seemed very evasive, as if he is trying to find out something" Tanya carefully climbed down from the rock she was sitting on and approached him confidently.

"As I mentioned in the restaurant, I'm not sure if I can provide a new boat for your crew, despite the money you're offering…" While observing his reaction, Tanya could observe a slight grin on the corner of the pirate's lips.

"Oh I see… I imagine you still need time to think about it, but remember that my offer is not forever" Blackbeard clarified, getting up before heading towards the city. The little blonde stared at the pirate before pointing her gun at him, "Who are you?

"Do I really need to introduce myself, seriously ? Wasn't the time in the restaurant enough? Remembering two names, is that too complicated for a Navy soldier?" Obviously, the question seemed to deeply irritate the pirate, but something in his speech was not coherent. "Don't bother, I know very well that you are not the real Blackbeard…"

The man was taken completely by surprise, surely, he did not expect such accusations. Suddenly, he raised his right hand and shouted, 'Dark Vortex,' in her direction. But nothing happened, much to the pirate's surprise.

"Zehahahaha, Do you still think I'm a fraud after seeing my power?"

"Of course" Tanya replied straight away, "That only strengthens my suspicion that you are not the genuine one. Not only does the real Blackbeard know that this ability doesn't work on me, and in addition, at no time did we mention any boat in our exchange. You are just an impostor, your very existence is a lie…"

"A lie, huh?" murmured the fake Blackbeard "I must admit, you are rather perceptive despite your age…" With these words, an immense cloud of white smoke appeared all around the impostor.

In order to avoid any surprise attack, Tanya instantly backed off and activated her magic shield and drew her rapier, ready for only took a few seconds for the smoke to fade

When the latter was completely dissipated, Tanya recognized the man standing in front of her. His purple hair, white outfit, and checkered scarf made him easily recognizable among his peers. Before her stood the young soldier she had met on the ship that had taken her to the archipelago a few days before.

The latter contemplated the young girl with an amused look, his violet eyes were filled with mischief, staring at the young girl from top to bottom. "Rhooo, you're not funny, Captain. You could have at least played the game until the end, I enjoyed playing the role of a pirate for once".

"I wonder what fruit he could have eaten to be able to transform into another person and especially to be able to copy his powers" Tanya wondered while continuing to stare at the young man. "What do you want, soldier? Why did you follow me here? Shouldn't you be at your post?"

The young man did not immediately answer the questions. Under the effect of the authoritarian tone in her voice, he staggered back with an indignant look on his face.

"I'm off today, and when I saw you go off alone, I was very worried about you."

The childish tone he used made the young girl understand that he was lying again. Annoyed by the behavior of her interlocutor, Tanya gripped the handle of her rapier with all her might to avoid losing her temper. As a superior, she had to be exemplary. "If you don't tell me what you're doing here, I'm going to have to arrest you for insubordination," the young blonde said, spitting out her last words.

"And you, captain?" her subordinate responded promptly, a hint of challenge in his voice. "Should I report you for treason against the Navy and the World Government? I know very well that you were able to have an agreement with Blackbeard, otherwise, how can you be here in front of me"

"He saw me get kidnapped by this woman and join Blackbeard in the restaurant... Even if I didn't do anything to betray the Marine, if he were to ever file a report on me, and even without proof, it would could compromise his rise in this organization…" Several ideas came to mind, transferring him to a dangerous area, with her current position and status, it shouldn't be difficult. Research his service records to try and find a serious mistake he could have made, or pay mercenaries to have him assassinated discreetly...

"So this is where you damn demon were hiding!"

Before Tanya could even respond, a deep, menacing voice rang out in the clearing, and within seconds, the duo found themselves surrounded by a horde of pirates. They all seemed to be in a pitiful state. Some wore bandages on their bodies, but that didn't stop them from being threatening with their weapons.

None of them seemed to speak; only gazes filled with hatred were directed toward the girl. Before doing anything or saying anything, Tanya moved her hand to her belt and quickly inventoried her equipment.

Her rapier was still there, as well as her flintlock pistol with some ammunition. However, its effectiveness was very limited and remained far inferior to her Luger. Without knowing the reason, it was impossible for her to enchant the ammunition of the flintlock pistols.. The most logical explanation would be that the magic is concentrated and stored in the powder reserve of the ammunition it previously used,

She threw a quick glance at her comrade to make sure he was ready to fight, but to her great surprise, he had not moved an still wore his provocative smile and had his hands positioned behind his head.

"We finally meet again, you dirty demon."Scanning the troop of pirates surrounding them, Tanya recognized one of the men who had left their ranks. She had no trouble recognizing the pirate she had met during the great war with Admiral Sakazuki.

"If I remember correctly, you are Squard, the Maelstrom Spider. I wonder what a pirate like you could be doing on this archipelago?" The pirate took some time before responding to her provocation. "We are all here to avenge the death of Captain Ace, there was no reason to kill him like you did! Today we will avenge him and make Father proud of us. Right guys?"

Howls of approval from the pirates responded to Squard. "If memory serves, this pirate has a bounty of 210 million Berries. Capturing him would allow me to gain reputation" Tanya cleared her throat as she drew her flintlock pistol. "Squardo, the Maelstrom Spider, there is a price on your head for 210 million berries, in the name of the Marine and the World Government, you are under arrest for acts of piracy"

The two groups looked at each other hard, and waited for the other to make the first move. After observing the equipment of Squard's men, Tanya felt much calmer. Nothing seemed capable of getting past her magical shield; however, she remained on her guard regardless. Perhaps a Devil Fruit user could be hiding among them.

"Hey oh! Do not forget me ! Why doesn't anyone pay attention to me?" asked the young man full of enthusiasm.

"Shut up, runt, we're not interested in you, we're here to avenge…"

"You are here to avenge your captain blablabla" interrupted the young man with purple hair "But what if I told you that I was able to recover the powers of your former commander? Will I gain importance in your eyes?"

Then, as if to prove his words, the young man raised his arm and snapped his right-hand fingers. Instantly, a bright orange flame shot out from his index finger, greatly surprising their adversaries.

"It's impossible!" Some pirates shouted, while others looked at each other, confused and unsure of what to do.

"If that were really the case," Squardo began, "how could you have regained these powers without even being able to get close to his body?"

"And if I told you that it was by pure chance? During the great war, while you were being miserably demolished, I tasted a delicious basket of apples. Then, what happened, I apparently ate its fruit, which must have reincarnated in my apple."

Tanya continued to listen to what her colleague was explaining. "From what he showed me earlier, it is obvious that he is lying. Besides, his power seems to be linked to his lies, as if everything he said became real... "

Without even responding to the marine soldier's provocations, Squardo and his men went on the attack. The pirates, their eyes gleaming with anger and sinister hatred, approached with arrogant confidence.

The first pirate, confident in himself, launched himself towards Tanya, but she countered with impressive mastery, unleashing her mage blade and cutting the pirate into two separate pieces. The man fell heavily to the ground face first. It was when he realized what had just happened to him that he began to cry out in pain. Without even glancing at her dying victim, Tanya was already turning in the direction of her next opponent.

Meanwhile, her collegue used his fruit's power to create a series of columns of flame that annihilated a large portion of the enemy force. With each use of his powers, flames appeared gradually, as could be the case with the former second in command of Whitebeard's forces.

"Captain Squardo! What are we supposed to do to monsters like this?" Amused and without a response from their leader, the young soldier chuckled, "Monsters? That's not very nice of you. You can just call me Ôma"

A cry seeming to come from behind their position was then heard. "We don't care what your name is. What we want is the demon's head!" It was then that Squardo reappeared and charged the young man with one of his large sabers.

Ôma had just enough time to step back and dodge the captain's attack. The captain, thrown by his momentum, finished his course a little further away. "Too bad he missed his attack, this person is really problematic for me if he still remains alive... My position as an officer prevents me from being able to take care of him myself limits my options."

Catching his breath, the young man glared at Tanya: "Why didn't you warn me, Captain? That's not nice!" No words came out of his superior officer's mouth." His only response was a stern, icy look.

"Look, guys, the captain made this soldier bleed." Following the indication she had just heard, Tanya noticed that droplets of blood dripped onto the sandy ground of the clearing.

Looking closely at her subordinate, she quickly noticed that the latter had a slight cut on his shoulder, probably caused by Squardo at the time of his attack.

"I didn't use armored Haki during that attack... I shouldn't have been able to hurt him. My suspicions were correct... This man is a liar; he didn't regain Ace's powers. Everything he told us was a lie all along.."

Immediately, the flames burning on the young man's body evaporated, giving way to thick smoke. "You know? Lying is not only fun; it's also a self-defense force."

Not wanting to waste any more time, Tanya fortified her body with her magic and lunged into the group of pirates, who seemed helpless in the face of this assault. In a matter of seconds, no pirates were left standing. Most died with large, open wounds right in the middle of their chests. The few survivors, on the other hand, writhed on the ground, lacking the strength to make the slightest sound.

"I don't even need to finish them; these scoundrels will eventually succumb to their injuries," Tanya thought, annoyed when she noticed that her clothes were stained with blood again. Looking up, she realized that only one man was still standing among the corpses of his comrades.

Captain Squardo, a formidable pirate renowned for his cruelty and legendary cunning, had learned of the young girl's presence on the archipelago. He had no intention of letting the murderer of his brother-in-arms escape without her being able to face the consequences of her actions. Squardo stood a few meters away from her, his gaze fixed on the petite blonde, a sadistic smile on his lips. His unruly hair and pirate cloak fluttered in the sea breeze.

Tanya stood in the center of the clearing, her clothing covered in blood. Her blue eyes shone with a murderous glint as she said in a cold voice, "You better turn yourself a pirate. I don't have time to waste on insects like you."

Squardo burst out laughing, revealing a row of sharp teeth. "You're talking a lot for someone who's about to reach the bottom of the ocean," he replied defiantly.

The pirate captain rushed towards Tanya with astonishing speed, drawing his sword as he went. Tanya had anticipated his attack and had already activated her magic, creating an invisible magical shield in front of her. Squardo's sword slammed into the shield, causing an explosion of light and force. Tanya held her ground, resisting the power of the attack.

With a wave of her hand, Tanya responded by unleashing a powerful magical blade, sending Squardo flying backward. He got up quickly, a bloodthirsty smile on his face. "Interesting, but you're going to have to do better than that, demon"

Squardo then drew his second saber and threw himself at the young girl again. The saber blows came one after the other, but she used her magic to deflect and push them two adversaries were now locked in a fierce magical and physical battle, unleashing spells and launching rapid attacks at each other.

Tanya was a formidable magician, but Squardo was a seasoned pirate, and he had the advantage in sheer strength. He managed to strike her with a powerful blow, sending her crashing against a rock near the river. Tanya winced in pain, but quickly stood up, her resolve intact.

"This battle has dragged on for far too long. I can't afford to get injured and lose my hard-earned days off. I didn't intend to come to this point, but I'll have to transition from theory to practice much sooner than I thought." She concentrated all her magic in one final attack. A burst of magical energy burst from his hands, forming a destructive beam that struck Squardo head-on. The pirate captain screamed in pain as he was consumed by the power of the attack.

When the smoke cleared, Squardo was lying on the ground, seriously injured. His legs and both arms were missing. Tanya approached him, her face impassive. "I warned you," said the young officer coldly. "In accordance with current laws, I still give you the opportunity to turn yourself in and tell me where Whitebeard is."

The pirate, lying on the ground, began to vomit a large quantity of blood from his mouth. However, no sound could come out of his mouth. By reading the pirate's lips, she understood that he was saying, "Go to hell, demon."

Without hesitation, Tanya grabbed her rapier and thrust it into the pirate's skull, instantly ending his life. Raising her head, she realized that she was now alone in the clearing. No more pirates were capable of fighting, and her Marine colleague had already disappeared.

"I'll have to keep a close eye on this individual until I find a way to eliminate him swiftly…"

Deep in thought, Tanya then took hold of Squardo's lifeless body by the feet and dragged it to the Marine base to file her report.".
