"Lady Jahy!" shouted the demon as it burst into the opulent throne room. "Lord Satan has retreated! The hero has defeated‒" The unfortunate demon was silenced at a glance by the demon lord's second. She lounged on the throne, her tan skin exposed by her skimpy clothing.
"Defeated...you say?" Jahy gracefully rose from her seat and prowled towards the messenger. Her thigh-high boots strangely silent on the stone floor. "Tell me, peon, was the great Demon Lord killed?"
"No, Milady."
She cocked her head, the large black braid swinging softly. "Was he captured?"
"No, Milady."
"Did he accept their terms of surrender?" Each time she asked she drew closer to the shaking monster.
"No," whispered the demon as he stared at the floor, avoiding the golden eyes of the ruler of the demon world appointed by the great conqueror Satan himself.
"Then why, would you DARE say DEFEATED!" She screamed, sending him scrambling in terror. "If you know he has retreated, then it's only a matter of time when he returns here and regroups his armies! Don't you dare insult the great Demon King Satan with that nonsense of his defeat!" She walked back and sprawled on her throne. "Druj!" The demon maid appeared at her side instantly.
"Yes, your grace?"
"Prepare for the Demon King's arrival. I want his castle to look perfect, and I want all the guards prepared to show their strength of loyalty."
"As you command." She rushed off to do the bidding of her master, leaving the messenger with the second in command of the demon world.
"Tell me, what of General Alciel? Has he retreated with the Lord?"
"Yes, he and Lord Satan both retreated into a Gate, and some even saw the Hero follow them."
"A Gate?" Jahy sat up suddenly. "Then he should already be here. Why haven't I heard word of his arrival?"
"That's because‒" The doors to the throne room slammed open.
"Mistress Jahy, please save us!" A wolf-like demon burst into the room panting wildly. "We're under attack!" He moved to close the doors, but an explosion shattered the door. As the dust settled, a small girl in a frilly dress holding a magic staff made her way in.
"How dull, she is but a child, you lot are pathetic." Jahy stepped forwards. "This is not a place for little girls, so I will allow you to flee, while you st‒" she was cut off when the girl jumped over her and used her magic wand to shatter the giant magical mystic gem behind the throne. Shards of giant gem were scattered throughout the room.
"Ahhh! The gem I was saving for Satan!" Jahy snarled and prepared to attack. But before she could attack, a female demon in a black army uniform appeared behind her.
"Regent Jahy, I have received..."
"I'm busy!" Jahy's wings spread to their full wingspan, and she shot towards the girl, hand wreathed in black flames.
"...word that the Devil King wishes for you to join him!" With a smile the demon threw a vial right before the distracted Jahy. A purple portal sprang forth from the strange potion, a door drawing Jahy into it. "Give Satan my regards!"
"I don't know who you are!" Jahy shouted as the portal closed. Salwa stood there, dumbfounded. How could Jahy forget her greatest rival's name!?
Shaking her head, Salwa turned to the magical girl, who eyed her suspiciously. "Tell the Church the demon world is under new management," she said as she sat on the throne. "I have no wish to go to war with the humans like my predecessors."
The magical girl waved her wand, and with a burst of light, disappeared from the throne room along with the shards of the great mystic gem.
"Where did you send her, milady?" The wolf-like demon asked.
"She should land somewhere near the Hero, even someone as strong as Jahy would have trouble fighting her." Salwa smirked as she sunk deeper into the comfortable chair. "I don't think we'll hear from her for quite some time, if ever." She looked over the rubble littered the floor of her new room. "Someone come and clean this up. There are going to be some changes around here. With the Demon King dead and Jahy presumed dead, I'm going to have to take control of the demon world. I vow, I-"
"But Lord Satan isn't dead, Milady," the messenger interrupted. "He retreated into a portal with Alciel, and some saw the Hero following him in."
Salwa felt her plan slowly falling apart. "You mean, the Hero is where Satan is?"
"That's what I was told."
Salwa just sat there with a stern look on her face. "Get out! All of you!" As they scrambled she called out "And get someone to clean this mess!" When they vanished, Salwa curled into a ball. Did I just send Jahy to Satan? Together, I doubt any one person, even the hero, could stop them. Not to mention Alciel is there. And when the Devil King finds out what I've done...I'll just have to find new allies who can help, that's all. Yeah, I'll get through this. She tried to smile, but started crying. They're going to kill me!
The warm night was as quiet as a suburb of Tokyo could get, with the only noise out of place being the sputtering coming from the river. Jahy pulled herself out of the water, flopping onto the bank gasping for breath. "What the HELL! Where am I?" She got to her feet and barely kept her pants from dropping to her knees. Unfortunately for her, the straps which once served as both her top (in the most generous sense) and suspenders were suddenly too long and would not have prevented the shorts from gracing her ankles if she didn't catch the falling pants with the reflexes of a wet cat. Something was not right. Instead of being the beautiful, powerful demoness she was when she stood by the side of the great Satan, she was a little human child. Damn that magical girl! She broke the mystic gem that contained all the magic power I'd been saving up for Satan. The only thing that remained of her old form was her hair, with its long black braid and her two ear-like tufts, and her pointy ears.
My magic seems to be leaking out of me. But it's not just dissipating, it's flowing somewhere. She followed the flow and found that most of it was absorbed by a small gem she used as a necklace. It'll absorb all my magic at this point! Straining her control, Jahy managed to save a little bit for herself. She breathed a sigh of relief. "At least I managed to save a bit of power," she looked around, "but where am I? That demon who sent me here said I was supposed to meet King Satan, but I don't see him anywhere." She picked up her shorts in a bundle around her waist, her straps hanging. "And I don't have any magic power." Her eyes started to fill with tears, Where are you, Satan? Tiredness washed over her, causing her to collapse face-first into the grass. I'll have to figure it out tomorrow ... I guess….
Jahy, second in all the demon world, who stood as close to the great Lord Satan as anyone could, fell into a deep and uncomfortable sleep on the wet grass by a river in a world as strange as it could be.
