POV Tanya Von Degurechaff
Location: On a Navy ship somewhere at sea
The sun was barely rising on the horizon, casting a golden glow on the calm waters as the Marine ship Tanya had boarded after leaving Marie Geoise cut through the waves with unwavering determination. Tanya stood at the bow, her hands crossed behind her back. Her eyes, as cold and piercing as steel, scanned the horizon. She was on her way to Egg Head, with a mission of crucial importance awaiting her.
The instructions she had received were vague: to join Dr. Vegapunk on the island called Egg Head. No other information had been communicated to her. However, the mere thought of meeting a mind as brilliant as Vegapunk's excited her insatiable intellect.
Still, she couldn't help but remain vigilant. Even though they were supposed to be on the same side as the World Government, the mere fact that surveillance had been put in place made the young girl even more wary.
The first few days at sea passed without incident. Tanya spent most of her time locked in her cabin, studying the files she had been given a stack of documents detailing Vegapunk's work, from research on artificial Devil Fruits to the enhancements of the Pacifista.
Her small, spartan space offered her a semblance of privacy, consisting only of a bed and a small desk in a pitiful state. She pondered the information, planning her future actions with calculated precision. The sailors' whispers about her reputation and exploits sometimes echoed through the bulkheads, but she paid them no mind.
The scientific jargon and complex diagrams did not discourage her; on the contrary, she absorbed them with an almost mechanical efficiency, determined to be as prepared as possible for what awaited her.
Every evening, she allowed herself a little outing on the ship's deck to avoid crossing paths with the crew members. Not out of shyness, but simply to avoid useless conversations. Since arriving in this world, Tanya had realized that the average intellectual level seemed quite low. After all, it was not by attracting the sympathy of her troops that her career would be able to evolve. Only results were important to her.
Tanya also took the opportunity to refine the powers of her devil fruit. Although she was aware that her superiors knew of her abilities, it was wiser not to reveal the full extent of her magical powers.
This morning again, she had taken care to surround herself during her night outing with various objects that she had recovered from the boat. Pieces of wood, metal tools, and ropes all became her training instruments.
She focused her mind and energy, feeling the power of her fruit flow through her like a tumultuous river.
She began with simple transformations. A metal bar bent and twisted under her will, taking on complex and varied shapes. A piece of wood was transformed into an elaborate sculpture, before returning to its raw state.
"The simple manipulation of materials no longer poses a problem for me, and although the duration of the transformation is always limited, I can now maintain the transformed objects for a few days," the young girl thought proudly.
Nevertheless, Tanya was trying to surpass the limits of her fruit. Her new goal was simple: to try to merge materials, combining metal and wood to create hybrid objects. She first grabbed a small wooden slat that she had managed to salvage earlier in the day after a soldier accidentally dropped a barrel containing food rations. Then, with her other hand, she grabbed a large nail the size of her index finger and tried to create a knife from the two elements, without success.
As the fusion process began, the materials seemed to mix. It was only after a few seconds that the materials finally rejected each other like two opposing magnets.
Unable to accomplish this, Tanya couldn't help but hit the small desk, which split in two. "If only I could fuse the materials… I wouldn't have to prepare my calculation orb every morning anymore. All I would need to do is have the materials with me at all times…"
As she was about to start her experiment again, she was interrupted by loud banging on her cabin door.
"Captain Degurechaff, we have received a distress call from a cash carrier under attack by pirates not far from here. We are the closest, and we have been called in as backup."
Tanya walked unhurriedly to her door and opened it. She instantly recognized the ship's captain, a sturdy man named Marcus, who had a concerned look on his face.
Tanya shrugged, her eyes instantly hardening. "And what do you want me to do about it, Captain? Until proven otherwise, you are the master of this ship…" The lack of response from her counterpart and the lost look on his face made the young girl sigh heavily. "Prepare the crew for immediate intervention," she ordered. "We cannot let these pirates get away with this."
The captain complied, and soon the ship changed course, heading towards the coordinates provided by the distress call. Tanya stood at the bow, scanning the horizon for signs of combat. She felt excitement rising in her; she missed direct action, and this was an opportunity to test what she was capable of.
The first few hours of sailing towards the site of the attack were tense. The sailors prepared for the confrontation, checking their weapons and equipping themselves for combat. Tanya, for her part, remained impassive, observing the preparations with a critical eye. She noted in a corner of her mind all the errors she had observed during the preparation to report them to HQ. The military is an organization that must above all be professional and rigorous. There was no place in it for amateurs
"Captain Degurechaff," Marcus said as he returned to her, "we are approaching the coordinates."
Tanya nodded. "Well, apparently I'll be leading this operation," she sighed inwardly, dismayed by her counterpart's lack of initiative. "Very well. Put all men on alert. Prepare the cannons and form boarding parties. We will neutralize these pirates and secure the carrier. Only fire on my order."
As the ship approached the scene of the attack, Tanya observed through her binoculars the silhouettes of the pirate ships surrounding the cash carrier. Explosions rang out, and smoke rose into the sky.
"Captain Marcus, this is indeed a pirate ship. The flag is represented by a bloody shark jaw with a skull in its mouth."
Marcus rushed to his cabin, returning a few seconds later with a bundle of wanted posters. It only took him a few seconds to identify the captain of this group of pirates. "This is a group known as the Black Sharks. They are known in this area for their brutality and cruelty with the hostages of their pillaging."
Tanya grabbed the wanted poster and discovered a tall, athletic, and muscular man named Sharko, marked by years of fighting and maneuvering at sea. His skin was tanned by the relentless ocean sun and marked by scars testifying to many clashes.
His face was angular and hard, with a square jaw and prominent cheekbones. His eyes were an icy blue, piercing and cold. He sported a thick, well-trimmed beard, mixed with a few graying strands, adding to his intimidating air. A black eye patch covered his left eye, certainly lost during a pirate duel.
"On my mark," she yelled at the crew, raising her hand, "fire at will on the pirate ship's mast."
Immediately, the cannons roared, sending salvos of cannonballs at the enemy ships. However, the distance between the ships and the waves capsizing the boats made acquiring the targets almost impossible. "Never again will I make fun of the Imperial Navy," Tanya said ironically.
The pirates, surprised by the sudden attack, almost immediately retaliated with their cannons.
"This type of battle makes no sense, shooting at each other hoping to hit your opponent by chance. That's not how I fight my battles."
"Stop the cannon fire," Tanya ordered in a firm and authoritative voice. "Prepare to approach the enemy ship head-on."
The sailors, surprised by this unexpected order, looked at each other hesitantly. One of the lieutenants, a man with a weathered face and a resolute attitude, stepped forward. "Captain, with all due respect, this is suicide. We'll be sitting ducks if we approach head-on."
Tanya stared at the lieutenant, her gaze piercing the silence. "That's an order. Carry it out."
The lieutenant shook his head. "No, Captain. We can't risk the lives of the entire crew for such a maneuver."
The murmur of agreement among the sailors confirmed the emergence of a mutiny. Without another word, Tanya raised her weapon and coldly shot the recalcitrant lieutenant with a precise bullet to the head. The lieutenant's body collapsed to the deck, shock and fear spreading among the men.
"This is an act of insubordination, and I will not tolerate any disobedience to the hierarchy," Tanya said in an icy voice. "If anyone else has any objections, speak now."
A deathly silence fell. Tanya fixed each sailor with an iron gaze before continuing. "The reason I gave this order is simple: by approaching head-on, we reduce the surface area of our ship exposed to enemy fire. We minimize damage and protect our crew and our ship."
She pointed at the burning cash-in-transit. "Their current formation gives us a strategic advantage if we approach head-on. The pirates will not expect this maneuver, and it will allow us to take them by surprise and neutralize them more effectively. Now, carry out my order, and we will emerge victorious."
The sailors, still in shock from the lieutenant's execution, quickly moved to implement Tanya's instructions. The military ship repositioned itself, heading directly towards the pirate ship, reducing the surface area exposed to enemy fire. The enemy guns thundered, but most of the cannonballs missed their target or bounced off the reinforced hull of the warship.
Tanya used her calculation orb to generate a magical shield around herself to prevent any unnecessary injuries.
The Marine ship closed in on the pirate ship, the deck quivering with fear and the palpable tension of the crew. Tanya, her iron gaze fixed on the enemy, stood at the front, ready to take action. She focused her power, strengthening her body with magic. Her muscles tensed, her overflowing energy manifesting into a menacing aura.
"They already know about this ability anyway. I might as well finish this fight and get to Dr. Vegapunk as soon as possible," Tanya justified herself.
With a prodigious leap, Tanya launched herself into the air, crossing the distance that separated her from the pirate ship. She landed heavily on the enemy deck, her imposing presence immediately attracting the attention of the pirates. Chaos ensued as she drew her rapier.
The first pirate who dared to approach her was immediately sliced in two thanks to her mastery of Rankyaku, his body collapsing to the ground in a pool of blood. The others, driven by fear and rage, rushed towards her, but Tanya was a whirlwind of destruction. Her rapier whistled through the air, each deadly blow delivered with ruthless precision.
A pirate, wielding a massive axe, attempted to attack her from behind. Tanya, without even turning her head, deflected the blade of his axe with a flick of her wrist, before plunging her sword into the assailant's torso. The pirate staggered backward, blood spurting from his mouth, before collapsing lifelessly.
All sailors, watching from their ship, were petrified by the scene unfolding before their eyes. Tanya was a vision from a nightmare, her quick and fluid movements merging into a macabre dance. A group of pirates attempted to overwhelm her with numbers, but she responded by using her devil fruit to transform the ground beneath their feet into powerful, rigid, pointed spears.
Immediately, a large majority of the crew was impaled by these spikes jutting out of the ground, killing them instantly. For the unlucky ones who managed to survive, they could only scream in pain as they bled to death.
Another more daring pirate attempted to strike her with an iron bar. Tanya blocked the blow with her shield, the metal twisting under the force of the impact. She grabbed the pirate by the throat and, with superhuman strength, lifted him off the ground before throwing him violently against the ship's mast. An ominous crack was heard as the pirate's body shattered under the impact.
Blood flowed freely across the deck, the bodies of pirates littering the ground in grotesque positions. Tanya advanced, relentless, her face impassive despite the surrounding violence. Every pirate who dared to confront her ended up on the ground, maimed or dead.
The Marine sailors, watching the scene, were horrified. Tanya's brutality and efficiency were such that they were traumatized by it. Never had they seen such a display of strength and cruelty. Some of them looked away, unable to bear the sight of the carnage any longer.
Seeing his entire crew decimated, Captain Sharko surrendered, falling to his knees before Tanya, begging for his life. She looked at him with disdain before putting away her weapon. "You will live to serve as an example to other pirates," she said coldly. "My superiors will know how to take care of you."
She turned and jumped back onto the Marine ship, leaving behind a scene of carnage. The sailors watched her return, their faces pale and marked by fear and respect. Tanya straightened up, her gaze as impassive as ever. "Clean up this mess," she ordered. "And make sure the cash carrier is secure."
The sailors obeyed immediately, still in shock from what they had seen. Tanya, meanwhile, returned to her cabin to freshen up. Her white shirt was once again stained with blood. "I'll have to find another outfit quickly," Tanya thought as she took off her shirt and reflected with regret on her old, much more practical military uniform.
Once in a presentable state, the young girl stepped out of her cabin and saw that her counterpart was waiting patiently for her in front of her door.
"Excellent intervention, Captain," he said. "Thanks to you, we were able to secure the carrier and neutralize the pirates."
Tanya nodded. "It is our duty," she replied simply. "We must be ready to intervene at any time to protect the safety of the citizens and our resources." The ship continued its journey towards Egg Head, leaving behind a pirate ship abandoned by its crew and a particularly bloody scene. Looking back at the ship one last time, Tanya noticed that a Marine flag was flying in the wind on the bow of the defeated ship, signaling to the next vessels that passed by the Marine's victory over this pirate crew.
The journey to Egg Head took a few more days, during which Tanya practiced her devil fruit, the Forma Forma no Mi. The Marine ship cut through the waves with reassuring regularity, its crew working in silence, still scarred by the recent bloody clash with the pirates. Tanya, however, had already moved on. Her calculating and methodical mind was now focused on improving her skills.
Every morning, Tanya rose before dawn. She took a short break to eat a frugal meal before heading to the deck, where she spent hours training. The sea was calm, the rays of the rising sun tinting the horizon with soft colors, but Tanya had eyes only for her exercises. She concentrated on her devil fruit, trying to get the most out of it.
The ability to manipulate matter could become a formidable weapon in her hands if she could master all of its aspects. Tanya began with simple exercises. She took pieces of wood, metal, and other common materials and reshaped them into different forms. A wooden stick became a spear, then a sword, and then a simple piece of wood again. A piece of metal transformed into a thin blade, then a compact ball, and then a chain of delicate links. Each transformation required precise control of her power.
In between her training sessions, Tanya supervised the crew and ensured everything was running smoothly, although that was not her role. The sailors respected and feared her after the confrontation with the pirates. They obeyed her orders without question, recognizing her skill and authority. Despite the palpable tension, the days passed relatively uneventfully.
On the last day before arriving at Egg Head, Tanya rose even earlier than usual. She felt something had changed within her, a deeper understanding of her power. She made her way to the deck, where dawn was beginning to break over the horizon. Silence reigned, interrupted only by the gentle lapping of the waves against the hull of the ship.
Tanya picked up a piece of wood and a piece of metal, holding them tightly in her hands. She closed her eyes and concentrated, feeling each particle of the materials. Slowly, she began to channel her power, feeling the molecular structures shift. The materials resisted, but Tanya persisted. She visualized the wood fibers intertwining with the metal atoms, forcing them to fuse.
This time, there was no energy discharge. The materials began to mix, forming a new hybrid substance. Tanya opened her eyes and looked at the result. In her hands, wood and metal had combined to create a unique material, strong and flexible. She smiled, satisfied with her progress. It was only a small step, but it showed that she was on the right track.
A short time later, the cry of a lookout interrupted her thoughts. Egg Head was in sight.
Looking in the direction indicated, the first thing that caught Tanya's attention was the unusual and imposing shape of the island.
Egg Head Island stood out clearly on the horizon with its rounded top, reminiscent of the shape of a giant egg. This atypical silhouette was visible from afar, emerging from the ocean like a mysterious natural structure.
As the ship approached the island, the dense and verdant vegetation on the edges of the island gradually took shape. Gigantic trees rose toward the sky, their thick branches forming a lush canopy. Exotic birds and curious sea creatures could be spotted around the island, adding to the wild and vibrant atmosphere.
Behind the vegetation, futuristic buildings became visible. They seemed to be constructed with shiny and smooth materials, reflecting the sunlight in an almost dazzling way. Cylindrical structures and slender towers dominated the landscape, their curved and elegant shapes contrasting with the surrounding wilderness.
The ship docked smoothly at a pontoon located in a huge cave that gave direct access to the sea. Once the ship was docked, Tanya went down the gangway, greeted by a group of scientists and Marine soldiers. A small mechanical creature, similar in size to a young child, also approached the young girl. Its head was shaped like an American football, with two appendages resembling rabbit ears or a power outlet, and eyes bulging through an opening at the front; the number 03 was marked on its forehead. On its body, it wore a sort of greenish and orange jacket.
"Captain Degurechaff, welcome to Egg Head," it said in a respectful voice. "We have been waiting for your arrival with great anticipation."
Tanya nodded. "Thank you. I am ready to meet Dr. Vegapunk right now."
The small mechanical being, hearing this response, seemed satisfied. "Excellent, well, you have him in front of you." Without even giving Tanya time to respond, Vegapunk continued, "We have prepared a series of simulations to evaluate your performance in a real combat situation. Please follow me."
Without turning back to the crew that had brought her to the island, Tanya followed the mechanical being through the island's facilities, her eyes observing the world-renowned Dr. Vegapunk in detail. "I know better than anyone that one should not judge someone's skills based on their physical appearance, but I can't wrap my head around the idea that this 'person' is Dr. Vegapunk."
Scanning her gaze around, Tanya couldn't help but be impressed by what she saw. Egg Head was a fascinating place, mixing advanced technology with cutting-edge scientific research. The buildings were constructed of unknown materials, and robots bustled about everywhere, performing various tasks.
Gradually, Tanya noticed that they were moving further and further away from the center of the island. "Dr. Vegapunk, may I know where we are going exactly?"
Without even turning around, Vegapunk continued on his way toward some sort of elegant and minimalist structure. "We are going to the main laboratory, but to save us precious minutes, we will take the Hyperloop network of this island."
Tanya nodded, ready to follow the instructions. She had never taken the Hyperloop before, but she had heard about this advanced transportation technology, capable of moving passengers at incredible speeds thanks to magnetic levitation and low-pressure tunnels.
They entered a silver capsule, the doors closing tightly behind them. The capsule was spacious and comfortable, equipped with ergonomic seats and sophisticated control panels.
"The ride will only take a few minutes," Vegapunk said as he settled in. "It's one of the fastest ways to get around the island."
Tanya settled in as well, feeling a slight apprehension mixed with excitement. She was always curious about new technology and how it worked. The capsule started up smoothly, accelerating quickly. Tanya felt a slight pressure against her seat as the speed increased, but the transition was remarkably smooth. The island's landscapes flashed past at breakneck speeds through the capsule's panoramic windows.
She looked around, observing the screens that displayed real-time data on the journey. The technology was impressive, but Tanya remained focused on her mission. She knew that every minute counted, and she used this time to think about the strategies she would employ during the combat tests. "If I am also called upon to fight, I will simply stick to my Devil Fruit powers. I will only have to justify my magical abilities by the incomprehension of the witnesses when they see my powers…"
Tanya quickly glanced at Vegapunk, who remained silent throughout the entire journey. He seemed thoughtful… "Even though we are on the same side, I will have to be wary of this guy. It's better to remain cautious."
"Working for the World Government, I am sure that he already has data on my combat abilities. I wonder why he wants to observe them for himself…" Tanya then remembered that he was a scientist, and like most of them, he preferred practice to theory.
The main laboratory was an imposing structure, filled with complex machines and control screens. Tanya was led into a briefing room, where several other Marine officers and scientists were gathered. They stood as she entered, immediately acknowledging her authority.
The pod gradually slowed as they neared their destination. Within moments, they had arrived at the Hyperloop station of the main lab. The doors hissed open with a mechanical sound, and Tanya followed Vegapunk through a maze of hallways to a large metal door. He entered a code into the control panel, and the door hissed open with another mechanical sound. Tanya stepped into the room, her eyes quickly adjusting to the bright light of the fluorescent fixtures.
The lab was huge, filled with sophisticated machinery and equipment. In the center of the room, a large area was enclosed by transparent walls, likely serving as the testing area. Control screens surrounded the area, displaying real-time data and combat simulations.
"This is our main testing facility," Vegapunk explained. "We have prepared a series of simulations to assess your combat capabilities as well as those of the Pacifista. You will be in charge of leading the tests and interacting directly with the machines."
Hearing the name Pacifista, Tanya remembered the time she had seen them from afar during the Great War. They looked suspiciously like Warlord Bartholomew Kuma. However, she knew that these "clones" were human weapons. "He must have been the basis for the construction of these weapons", Tanya thought as she recalled her first encounter with the man.
"We have a lot to do today. Before we begin the combat tests, we must perform some routine checks and sampling to ensure the safety of everyone on the island."
"What do you need my blood for?" Tanya asked, her face impassive and her suspicion unmistakable.
Vegapunk motioned for her to follow him, and they entered a sterile room where various medical instruments were laid out on steel tables. An examination chair sat in the center of the room. Tanya sat down, watching Vegapunk's preparations with interest.
"We need to take a sample of your blood," he explained as he prepared a sterile syringe.
"This is a precautionary measure to prevent any diseases or contamination from being imported onto the island."
Seeing that the girl didn't seem particularly convinced, Vegapunk added, "Consider this an order, Captain."
Tanya held out her arm without a word, watching Vegapunk with a piercing gaze as he inserted the needle with professional precision. Blood flowed into the vial, red and bright. Once the sample was complete, Vegapunk carefully removed the needle and bandaged Tanya's arm.
"Perfect," he said as he carefully put the vial away. "Now that that's done, we can move on to the next phase: combat testing. Please follow me."
They left the sampling room and headed toward a huge training area, equipped with every conceivable device to simulate various combat environments. Training dummies, moving targets, and even holograms of enemy soldiers were arranged throughout the space. In the center of the room was a Pacifista, ready to be put to the test.
Vegapunk activated a giant screen showing the Pacifista's technical specifications. "While not the final version, I present to you PX Bear. This model has been improved for greater durability and firepower. We will evaluate its performance by putting it through various combat scenarios. Captain Degurechaff, you will be our primary evaluator."
Tanya nodded, examining the Pacifista with cold curiosity. She knew that these machines could become valuable allies in future battles, but they had to prove their worth in the field. However, the Pacifista before her resembled a more juvenile version of the Warlord and the Pacifista she had previously encountered.
"Alright," Vegapunk said, taking a few steps away to prepare himself. "Let's start with a basic combat simulation."
Vegapunk tapped on his tablet, and the Pacifista came to life, its red eyes glowing menacingly. Tanya got into a fighting stance, her body instinctively preparing for action. The Pacifista charged, its movements quick and fluid despite its massive size.
Tanya dodged the first blow, countering with a powerful kick that slightly enhanced the magic, making the machine waver. She used her devil fruit, the Forma Forma no Mi, to alter the shape of her sword, making it longer and sharper. The gleaming blade sliced through the air, cutting into the Pacifista's arm as it fell heavily to the ground.
The Pacifista countered by firing a burst of lasers from its mouth, but Tanya dodged them with unnatural agility. She used her power to transform the ground beneath her feet, creating barriers and obstacles to hinder the machine's movements. The fight was intense, with Tanya's every move calculated with precision.
After several minutes of fierce combat, Tanya managed to disable the Pacifista by severing a vital cable at the base of its neck. The machine collapsed, inert, and Tanya stood up, slightly out of breath but satisfied.
Vegapunk approached, writing down his observations. "Impressive, Captain. Your skills are remarkable. We will now move on to a more complex scenario.
Dr. Vegapunk, the world's greatest brain, stood behind a bulletproof glass window, carefully observing the preparations in progress. Today was a special day, as Tanya Degurechaff, a Marine captain with mysterious abilities, was going to face the Pacifista S-BEAR.
This advanced model, equipped with the power of Bartholomew Kuma's Devil Fruit, was a creation that Vegapunk was particularly proud of. He was not only curious to see how Tanya would fare against the Pacifista, but he was also particularly interested in her magical powers.
Reports of her abilities spoke of talents far surpassing those of the usual Devil Fruits, and Vegapunk, always eager to understand and exploit new technologies and abilities, eagerly awaited this moment.
POV: Dr. Vegapunk (Stella)
Location: Secondary Laboratory, Egg Head.
Naturally wary of outsiders, especially given his important position in world governance, Vegapunk wanted to ensure that this captain did not pose any threat to his safety or the inhabitants of the island. However, his curiosity about the young girl's unknown abilities compelled him to meet her, albeit from one of his satellites to maintain his anonymity.
Captain Degurechaff stood in the center of the training arena, her piercing eyes scanning the surroundings with cold determination. Her captain's uniform was somewhat atypical compared to her colleagues, but it was clear that she was ready to spring into action at any moment. Having witnessed the experiment via the Den Den Mushi feed, Vegapunk felt frustrated at not being able to observe the "special" skills that Admiral Kizaru had mentioned during his last routine visit. "I'll need to push this little girl to her limits if I hope to see her abilities... I didn't want to use it right away, but a fight between these two might finally allow me to test the limits of S-BEAR and trigger the Lunaria flame..."
Through Edyson, Vegapunk activated his microphone and addressed her. "Captain Degurechaff, we will now proceed to a test with our most advanced model, the Pacifista S-BEAR. Prepare yourself."
The young girl nodded, her expression remaining impassive as she drew her rapier, which, according to initial analyses, seemed quite ordinary. The doors to the lab slowly opened, and S-BEAR entered. It was an imposing machine, resembling a younger Bartholomew Kuma, though with longer hair and an outfit that echoed the current Kuma Vegapunk knew well. S-BEAR also possessed Lunarian features, such as brown skin, black wings, and white hair reminiscent of a human.
Vegapunk observed every detail, noting Tanya's reactions and S-BEAR's movements. "Launch the combat program," he ordered his assistants.
The Pacifista gradually advanced, assessing Tanya with cold precision. Then, without warning, it unleashed its devil fruit power, sending a wave of repulsion straight toward her. Tanya dodged with unnatural agility, her fluid and rapid movements keeping her just out of range of the attack.
The scientist took note of this first interaction. "Interesting... Let's see how she reacts to more complex attacks."
S-BEAR followed up with a series of quick and powerful strikes, alternating between devastating shockwaves and laser blasts of formidable precision. This relentless chain of attacks forced the young girl to retreat to the corner of the test zone.
But just when Vegapunk thought she was cornered, a curious smile appeared on her face. Using her devil fruit, the Forma Forma no Mi, Tanya transformed the ground beneath her into an elastic surface, allowing her to leap high and avoid the blows. In mid-air, she called upon her powers to morph her sword into a long, sharp spear, which she hurled toward the Pacifista.
The spear sank into S-BEAR's shoulder, but the Pacifista showed no sign of pain. Instead, it grasped the spear and ripped it from its metallic body before tossing it aside. Vegapunk cracked a smile. "She's very adaptable. Let's see how she handles the pressure."
The fight intensified as S-BEAR unleashed the Pika Pika no Mi's lasers, creating energy blasts that lit up the lab. Meanwhile, Tanya transformed the surrounding structures into shields and improvised weapons. The lab echoed with impacts and bursts of light, a true display of strength and strategy.
As the fight progressed, Tanya began to show the first signs of fatigue, but her gaze remained unwavering. S-BEAR, on the other hand, seemed tireless, its mechanical movements precise and relentless. Vegapunk, fascinated, decided to introduce a new variable. "Activate S-BEAR's emergency repair module."
Although this module was largely inferior to the Lunaria's regenerative capabilities, it was standard on all Pacifista and allowed for repairs to body parts slightly damaged in combat.
One of the assistants tapped on a keyboard, and immediately, S-BEAR began to repair itself. The wounds inflicted by Tanya closed, and its abilities were partially restored. Tanya frowned upon seeing this, realizing that the fight had just become even more difficult. However, this was exactly what Vegapunk wanted to observe: Captain Degurechaff pushed to her limits.
Noticing a light flickering at her chest, Vegapunk understood that she was concentrating her energy. The most curious aspect for the old scientist was that no sensors in the laboratory could identify the type of energy being accumulated.
Sensing suspicious movements from his opponent, S-BEAR unleashed a massive wave of repulsion, hoping to disorient her. But Tanya reacted instantly, launching herself into the air and transforming into a human projectile. She was so fast that her movements became a rapid blur, difficult to follow, even for S-BEAR's current sensors.
Within seconds, the young girl searched for an opening and propelled herself toward the Pacifista. However, to Vegapunk's surprise, she sheathed her rapier. Her right arm emitted a blue light, and upon impact, S-BEAR wavered. To Vegapunk's astonishment, S-BEAR's left arm fell to the ground.
Vegapunk watched, eyes wide, captivated by Tanya's ingenuity and ferocity. "Extraordinary…" he murmured. "She can push human limits and use powers that I have never been able to observe until now…"
The fight reached its climax when Tanya made one final effort, using her devil fruit to create a massive structure from the ground a metal pillar that crushed S-BEAR under its weight, generating a huge cloud of smoke.
Panting, Tanya stood up, watching as the Pacifista beneath the pillar began to rise, grabbing the metal frame created by the girl and launching itself at her with full force, ready to strike.
Before receiving the impact, the pillar recovered its original form, surely thanks to the power of the girl's fruit, but that did not stop the Pacifista who, using the power of Kuma's fruit, pulverized the ground that had just reformed and sent the girl flying into the wall.
Vegapunk, impressed and worried about having seriously injured the girl, turned off the combat systems before S-BEAR continued its attacks. "Edyson, I want you to send S-BEAR for repair and provide medical support to the Captain as soon as possible," Vegapunk ordered through Punk Records.
As soon as Edyson got closer to the girl, the latter stood up, not without difficulty, covered in blood and wounds. "Captain Degurechaff," he said, addressing her, still through Edyson, "you have surpassed all my expectations. Your mastery of your devil fruit and your ingenuity in combat are truly remarkable."
Tanya, catching her breath, simply nodded. "Thank you, Dr. Vegapunk. I hope this has provided you with the necessary data."
Edyson nodded. "Indeed. We have learned a lot today. Your powers are unique and incredibly powerful, I hope our cooperation will be fruitful in the future, in the meantime, may I invite you to follow this little robot that will lead you to your quarters?"
A small yellow robot with a pear head and three small propellers on its head appeared immediately and led Captain Degurechaff out of the laboratory, leaving behind an indelible impression of the world's greatest scientist. Vegapunk, observing the data collected, knew that this day marked the beginning of new technological advancements. He was eager to see how far the captain's powers could take them.
The next day, Vegapunk and Edyson examined the data collected during the fight. The video recordings showed Tanya's every move with impressive clarity, and the sensors had measured power levels that far exceeded those of traditional fighters.
"Look here," Vegapunk said, pointing to a series of graphs on the screen. "Her energy output levels increase exponentially when she uses her devil fruit in combination with her martial skills. It's fascinating."
Edyson, one of his trusted aides, nodded. "We've also noted that her ability to manipulate matter surpasses that of any other Forma Forma no Mi user we've studied. She appears to be able to reconfigure the atomic structure of objects she touches."
Vegapunk nodded. "Yes, and that level of control is unprecedented. It could open up new possibilities for our research into the Pacifista. Imagine machines that could repair or transform themselves as needed in battle without having to use the Lunaria's genes…"
Edyson trembled with excitement. "We'll have to be careful, though. If she can use her powers so effectively in battle, she could also use them for other purposes that we can't control."
Vegapunk nodded, his expression becoming more serious. "That's true. That's why it's crucial that we fully understand the extent of her abilities and establish protocols to manage them." »
They continued to analyze the data, discussing the implications for future Pacifista upgrades and other projects. Vegapunk couldn't help but think about how Tanya could be integrated into his larger plans for science and technology. Her ability to transform matter and manipulate unknown energy was an invaluable resource, and he was determined to explore every avenue possible.
