Chapter 1: First Day at Kuoh Academy
Black. That was all that he could see. Even though it was late in the night, the illumination of the moonlight on the fountain before them was once enough to see. In fact, he would have called it romantic. The splayed light from the fountain would bound off the appearance of a girl as attractive as the one he was with, making her seem even more angelic than she was under daylight.
Truly, she was a thing of wonder.
But now, none of that mattered. As long as that blackness filled his vision, nothing else came to his mind. And the buzzing could not be ignored either. Hundreds upon millions of insects surrounded him, buzzing as they went.
Amidst this noise, the boy couldn't help but wonder one certain thing.
'Where did it all go so wrong?'
Friday was normally a great day due to the prospect of the weekend, but this one was grim. It was a good day, generally speaking. As in, the weather was favourable. It was the middle of spring, just before the Sakura trees would blossom. And yet, it was truly a gruesome day.
Why was it such a poor day despite such incredible weather? Well, it was due to the collective groans of groups of students returning to school for their new academic year, where the school chose to hold their opening day on a Friday rather than a Monday.
Kuoh Academy, although it was a beautiful location at that moment, held an oppressive air to it. For not only was it the first day of school, but it also presented the advent of certain major changes to the school itself. Changes that modified the very understanding of the school's nature.
Kuoh Academy was once upon a time an all-girls school. Yet, for that very year, they decided to switch things up. Kuoh Academy had started to accept male students. They had officially become co-ed.
The fact that Kuoh Academy was an all-girls school was an upsetting fact to many families with boys. They were looking for a school relatively close to their home, but Kuoh Private Academy was the only option in the city of Kuoh. Not only was it an all-girls school, but it was also a relatively cheap one, making them feel worse when they couldn't send their children there. As such, most families had to resort to making their children ride the train for hours on end just to reach a school in a completely different town.
Now that Kuoh was open to boys as well, it was expected to find a large influx of male students, which was the source of the discomfort in the school.
Every girl would glare scathingly at the new boys who would enter through their gates, wearing a male alternate of their uniform. If this were a fortunate world, they would have all admired the boys entering in. Unfortunately, it wasn't. Just as there were girls who weren't comfortable with their looks, there were boys who felt the same. Some were overweight, some had splotches of acne on their face. The girls, from what they could see, were not impressed by the entrants.
That being said, there were exceptions to this matter. The best example of this was Yuuto Kiba, the newest bishounen entering Kuoh and the newly named prince of Kuoh Academy. The boy who merely took a step into the campus and earned the heart-filled sights of nearly every straight girl in the school from the slight flick of his well-matted blond hair, outlining his godlike jawline and soft light blue eyes.
On the other hand, some were immediately shunned by the entire female population of the school. Not only did this account for the boys who were generally unattractive or looked like a stupid otaku, but it also accounted for the members of society the school was most afraid of when this announcement was made.
Perverts.
Unfortunately for them, those three stepped in.
"Matsuda Daguchi, the Sexual Harassment Paparazzi! No matter where the ladies are, the lens of my camera will capture you, no matter how little clothes you have on!"
"Motohoma Abiko, the Three-Size Scouter! With a mere look through my glasses, I can detect a girl's three sizes precisely at all times! This is a tried and tested method! Those secrets will no longer be secret when I'm around!"
So declared two boys, the former being one with simple features, save for his bald head, only protected by the remaining buzz of his once present hair. The other object of significance on him was his camera hanging off his neck. The latter was a boy with dark hair that traced his face and wide round-rimmed glasses that concealed his eyes in an incredibly anime-esque fashion.
The moment the two entered the front gates of the school, not even entering the main building, they had made this declaration. They were fully intent on being a hindrance to the female population there, and there were remarkably proud of it.
And they got a response as such. Almost immediately, the female population that were watching the ones entering cringed in disgust at them, with some even deciding to leave at that very moment.
And they had unknowingly placed the one coming behind them with the same team.
"Issei Hyoudou, the… ah, well, recovering pervert."
Accompanied by the two was the main source of buzzkill for the both of them. Issei Hyoudou was a boy with brown hair tied into two ties behind his head. He naturally wore his uniform a little differently, with a red shirt visible underneath both his official uniform's greyish-black blazer and white shirt.
"Come on, Issei! Why did you even come to Kuoh Academy if you were just going to wimp out!"
"Oi! I'm not wimping out at all! I'm just not going to be a peeper anymore, okay!"
"Hey! You three!"
The three perverts paused as they were quickly approached by two girls, one pink-haired and the other brunette, holding what seemed to be kendo sticks in their hands. From the looks of it, they were waiting by the gates for them.
"I can already tell that you'll be bad news, so let me tell you this," the pink-haired girl declared. "If you're going to keep on being perverts here, then – "
"There! First victims!" Motohama suddenly called out, after which he adjusted his glasses. "… Got it! The pink-haired one is 78.5-65-79, and the brunette is 84-70-81! Can you give me your names for the mental record as well, ladies?"
"O-Oi!" The pink-haired girl called out, her face quickly turning red at the actions by the boy. "T-That's so indecent! Why are you -"
Before she could finish, she started to hear a clicking noise, like the shutter of a camera going off.
"Okay, now for some exclusive shots of the booty…" Matsuda murmured, pointing his camera precisely at their rear. They didn't even notice when he went behind them.
"Okay, that's it!" the brunette cried out, raising her shinai in a classic kendo-based two-handed grip. Sweeping it behind her body, she slammed the body of the shinai onto Matsuda's head, immediately knocking him out. For some reason, even though he was knocked out, his camera was still stuck in his hands, refusing to fall.
The pink-haired girl followed the same pattern and hit Motohama's head, knocking him out too. Now that the two main perverts were gone, the two slowly turned their eyes to the remaining one among them.
"I'm so sorry for the both of them," Issei pleaded on behalf of his friends, immediately bowing low. "They've always been pretty open with their feelings. I can't really hold them back most of the time."
"So, you're friends with them?" the pink-haired girl asked, raising her shinai at him threateningly. "Who's to say that you're not just like them?"
"Ah, I'm just – "
"What's going on here, Katase, Murayama?"
It seemed that their commotion near the school gates had garnered quite a bit of commotion, as judged by the small crowd of women around them, as well as the few men. However, the sea was quickly parted by the arrival of another person, who was the one who had just spoken up.
Approaching them was another girl. One with short, neck-length black hair in a bob cut and glasses outlining soft features and violet eyes, wearing the same school uniform as the others. And yet the first thing that Issei noticed was that she was relatively flat-chested.
"Sh-Shitori-Kaichou!" the pink-haired suddenly called out, immediately bowing low and setting her shinai down. "I'm sorry, but I had to put these perverts in their place."
"Perverts?"
"Y-Yes," she added.
"I see. This was something I was afraid of, it's unfortunate that it's happened on the very first day," Shitori replied. "And this last boy? Is there a reason why he isn't unconscious, Katase?"
"I was just about to strike him before you came here, Shitori-Kaichou. Please allow me to reprimand this pervert."
"Oi, oi, stop!" Issei suddenly cut in before she could beat him down. "Katase-san, right? Please relax, I am a pervert, but – "
"That gives me enough reason!"
"Just listen! I'm not going to perv on you, okay!"
"Both of you, quiet," Shitori suddenly shut the two of them up. Issei held his tongue quickly, not knowing where the flat-chested girl was on the school's hierarchy, but it was certainly high-up considering how she was referred to as Kaichou (president). Katase, however, sighed quietly and set her shinai low, still not letting go of her glare on him. The brunette girl, Murayama, was still holding onto her weapon as well, but she seemed a lot more doubtful of the whole endeavour she was being put through.
"Can I have your name, new student?"
"… Oh, me?" Issei asked, to which the girl nodded. "I'm Issei Hyoudou, new second-year, coming from Hashira Academy. These two idiots are Matsuda Daguchi and Motohama Abiko, they're in the same book as I."
"Second-year, Hyoudou-san? Yes, it's certainly good that I met you. I had wanted to speak with you before the orientation assembly, it certainly is fortunate that we've met."
"Huh?" Issei remarked, taken aback. "You wanted to meet me? Why?"
"Everything will become clear when I explain it to you. Please come with me."
Issei blinked in confusion, not understanding why the School President was asking him to follow her on the very first day. He certainly hadn't done anything that would put his admission into Kuoh in jeopardy, it had been several months since his last peeping incident! He'd been going clean for so long, he didn't want to be punished for something he was trying to fix!
'And more importantly,' Issei thought. 'I can't lose this chance! I need to stay in Kuoh! I won't get another chance like this, dammit!'
Shaking his head, Issei decided to just hope that it was nothing. With that, Issei followed the President through the partition she easily formed in the crowd, ignoring the way Katase tsked behind him.
As he walked through the crowd, he could still hear what some of the girls were saying.
"You know, he's actually kinda hot. Look at that juicy neckline of his, he's got some good definition."
"Shame he's a pervert, though."
'Dammit, you two! You ruined my chances!'
"Please have a seat, Hyoudou-san. My Vice-President, Tsubaki Shinra, would have been with me, but she's currently busy with orientation matters."
"Ah, that's okay, Shitori-Kaichou."
Heeding her request, Issei took a seat behind the table, while Souna took the master seat. Swivelling on her chair to face him, she rested her head on her hands.
"Hyoudou-san, there is no easy way to say this, but we had no choice but to transfer you to a new class."
"Wait, what?!" Issei yelped, immediately jumping off his chair and slamming the desk. "But I was with Matsuda and Motohama!"
"Yes, and I'm truly sorry that you'd need to be separated from them. Unfortunately, you were our second last applicant, and you had filled our available slots. We soon found one more slot, which was taken by a differently-abled student. However, the nature of that seat led us to worry about her safety, so we chose to switch her position with yours."
"Wait… her safety?! Are you putting me into the mafia or something?!"
What scared him even more was that Souna remained silent at that remark.
"Wait, you can't be – "
"It's not the mafia, but I won't say that it's any better," Souna confessed. "Let me ask you this, Hyoudou-san. Have you heard of the recent fall of Alliance High School?"
He actually had. Alliance High School was a particularly special one to him, mainly because of the experience he had with it.
"Hey, Aniki, there's this option too," a 16-year old Issei remarked, sorting through the options of school brochures before them. "It's not too far, and it's pretty cheap too. Alliance High School."
"Absolutely not."
Issei was taken aback by his big brother's sudden remark. He was entering his lecture form once again. Yet, unlike how most kids would ignore their parents' lectures, Issei always listened to his big brother. For orphans like them, all they had was each other, after all.
"Listen to me, Issei. Alliance High School is dangerous. To you, especially. I'm not going to expose you to the world that lays beneath that school."
"World that lays beneath? What are you talking about? Do you know some insider secret about it?"
"Trust me, Issei. You do not want to go there. Promise me that you won't even interact with anyone from that school."
"But… But why?"
"Just do it. Please. Think of it as your big brother being paranoid, okay?"
"… Okay. I promise."
It seemed that he was right, to some extent. Alliance High School had mysteriously faced a plague that nearly killed its members. While they were all rescued by the timely actions of a nearby research centre, the new observation placed into the school's sanitation had forced it to shut down entirely.
"Y-Yes, I have. What does that have to do with this?"
"The fall of the school had forced several of its students to transfer to different schools, but none of them was able to come here due to the last dates for applications. However, we were lenient to one particular faction from the school.
"That particular first-year class from the school, now second years. The only class that wanted to stay in that school, but couldn't because of the shutdown."
Issei knew what she was talking about. Just before the plague, there was another event with its students, or rather, a single first-year class. The class that suffered tragedy and even a body count of 2 among themselves during their summer break.
"This particular class absolutely refused to separate into different schools, even though only one among them did quit study for an early work offer they'd received. That still left 17 students unaccounted for. They've all been placed into the class 2-E in Kuoh Academy. Since all the other classes have been filled, and since there was clear space here, we decided to place you into class 2-E as well."
"W-Wait, you can't!" Issei remarked.
"Hm? And why can't I? Do you have a valid reason?"
"Well… my brother always asked me to keep away from them. I promised him that I would, too. So please, reconsider this. Please let me stay with my friends, or… or at least bring them into the class as well!"
"Unfortunately, we cannot do that. Your friends already have some strong black marks on their names due to their reputation in your old school. I've also read your report as well, and I've noticed the drop in negative comments over time. I truly commend you for possessing that will to change. That being said, this leaves you as the only best option to take this position. I'm sorry to say it, but your friends cannot come with you because of their behaviour."
"It's always that, isn't it…?"
"Once again, I truly am apologetic, Hyoudou-san. We have no other choice. You can still connect with your friends after school, and even seek their help for homework. And let's hope that your brother's aversion to Alliance can be mitigated by you forming a few friends among their ranks. And if you'd like my advice, it would be better if a recovering pervert like you doesn't associate as much with two full perverts."
"Nah, that's going to change anything. Those two are my bros, I'm never letting go of them! But… But for this class… is there really no other choice? No other person that can take my place?"
"If you can find someone, then feel free to do so. However, I will tell you right now that not many will be willing to join that class. They are rather infamous for their deeds, after all."
Yes, he'd heard that as well. While it was labelled as self-defence, this same class was also responsible for the death of three adults. They even openly admitted to the murder. While the court concluded that they only defended themselves, student bodies were a lot harsher in their analysis of events. At that moment, every student viewed them as murderers.
Issei could imagine how difficult it would be for someone to willingly enter the class of murderers.
"You cannot move out of this, Hyoudou-san. The only way to keep yourself from joining that class is dropping out of Kuoh."
"Dropping out? NO WAY!"
Souna barely even reacted to Issei's sudden shout. Despite that, Issei certainly did not want to leave Kuoh.
After all, he had a goal to fulfil. One that he would sacrifice anything for.
'I've already sworn to myself… I've made this promise already… that I would touch some boobies!
'I came to Kuoh to enjoy the incredible female to male ratio! I could end up in those accidental scenarios where I end up with my head shoved in a woman's cleavage! I can't be called a pervert if it's an accident, right?! No way in hell am I giving that up!'
"F-Fine!" Issei finally relented. "Even if I have to be in that class, I'll do it! I'm definitely not dropping out!"
Souna softly smiled, a little gleam filling her eyes. "I'm glad we were able to come to an understanding, Hyoudou-san."
Saying a reluctant farewell to his now awake friends, Issei continued down the hallway as Matsuda and Motohama entered class 2-B. His friends were incredibly confused when he said that he was forced to switch classes, but they ended up being supportive and told him that he could be next in line after Matsuda was done with his new stash of porn. With that promise fuelling his heart, Issei confidently made his way down the hallway to the very end, where he finally met his destination.
The classroom door of 2-E.
"Well, the door doesn't look too bad," Issei softly remarked. Gulping, Issei slowly reached for the door.
"Oi! Who're you?!
Issei jolted upon hearing the gruff voice, immediately raising his hands away from the door handle. Looking to the side, he found that another boy was watching him, although he looked more like an adult than someone his age.
This boy has sandy-blonde hair strewn sloppily over his head and light hazel eyes. His appearance seemed gruff in general, certainly due to his square jaw, the shadow that fell over his eyes as well as the two adjacent scar lines that extended from beneath his right eye to the level of his lip. The blazer of his uniform was open, and he forewent his tie and wore his shirt untucked. Aside from that, he was tall and sported muscles beyond Issei's imagination.
'Delinquent No. 1 spotted,' Issei resolved in his mind upon seeing the boy before him. 'And it seems like he's got something against me being in this class.'
"Eh? Ghost caught your tongue or something?! Speak up! The hell are you doing outside our class, outsider?!"
"A-Ack, your class?!" Issei retorted, flinching at the rising voice of this delinquent. "Wait, you're in this class?"
"Yeah. You got a problem with that, you Kuoh runt? Heh, do you even know who's there behind that door? What this class really is?"
"I… I know," Issei murmured, casting his gaze down. "I'm… I'm actually joining this class too."
Not having been keeping his eyes on him, Issei was caught off guard as the boy suddenly grabbed his head and squeezed. Issei winced as his blood started to rush to his head, and flailed around with a terrified wince as he was forced to look at the delinquent.
"Sorry, did you say you were joining this class? I'm gonna have to check that."
With a flick of his arm, Issei was sent flying away into the hallway. However, the boy caught onto his bag before he could go.
"Gack… w-what…?" Issei murmured, slowly rubbing his head as he picked himself up from the slick floor. Luckily, the throw didn't bruise him in any way, but his head was still pounding, and he was finding it hard to focus on anything.
Upon raising his head again, Issei watched the delinquent open his own bag and rummage through it. From it, he pulled out his student file and opened it.
"This says you're in 2-B. Stop messing with us and go to your own class, dumbass."
"No…" Issei choked out while he forced himself into a stand. "I'm… I'm certain. The President asked me to join this class just a moment ago because all the other classes are full. I think you were the one who didn't get the memo."
The delinquent's eye twitched at Issei's retort. "Unfortunately, we're not accepting other students into this class. If you can't join this class, then either study in the toilet or just skip school. I'm not letting you step a foot into our class."
"That… I cannot do. I'm going to stay in Kuoh, no matter what. I have a dream! And I'm going to fulfil it, no matter what!"
Closing his eyes, Issei focused on his own body.
'Focus, Issei. Remember what Aniki told you. Focus on the part that hurts. The point of origin. Suppress it.'
Aiming his focus at the temples of his head, Issei managed to quell the effects of his previous hold enough to stand stably. Glaring competitively at the delinquent, Issei raised his fists, knowing that there was no other way to get through.
"Aniki taught me well. I'll use that training against you."
"… Heh? You really think you can beat me? Well, I'll show you how far apart the two of us are."
The delinquent quickly took Issei up on his voiceless offer and dashed in front of him. Issei almost missed him due to his speed, but he had one saving grace.
'Aniki was so much faster than that in our practice duels.'
As the delinquent sent out a fist, Issei easily dove to the side, recalling the instincts he'd honed with his brother. Rolling on the floor, Issei quickly rose to a stand, holding up his fists in defiance yet again.
The delinquent went silent, then slowly turned his head to face the boy.
"Seems like you're stronger than you appear," he commended him. "But still! You are not welcome here! May that feeling be shown to you through my fists!"
Diving at the boy yet again, the delinquent delivered another haymaker. Issei stepped to the side, but then the delinquent spun in the air and aimed the rear of his right leg after a half-roundhouse. Issei widened his eyes at the unexpected agility of his adversary and chose to step in closer to his body to ensure that the end of his leg doesn't connect.
Now that his leg didn't connect with anything, Issei was easily able to grab hold of the leg and pull. The delinquent widened his eyes as he was dragged into a near split by the boy he'd underestimated. To avoid getting hurt, the delinquent launched with his remaining leg, making Issei fall down from suddenly having to bear the boy's entire body weight.
Issei, however, did not let the collision falter him. Training his mind to remind calm, he rolled his body away and scrambled up to a stand.
"I see. You're a tough one, you've certainly got some good experience with fighting. But then… I have no choice but to use everything I have if it is to stop you from associating with us."
Issei was not able to see it, but an aura started to cover the delinquent as he let out a loud exhale. A sunlight yellow aura.
However, Issei hadn't not detected anything. He certainly did feel something different. The feeling that the boy gave him resembled someone close to his heart, someone familiar, someone that was rather easy for him to identify. At that moment, the delinquent resembled his Aniki in terms of their aura, or at least when his Aniki would somehow cause those freaky pranks to happen to him in their house.
The delinquent popped his eyes open, glaring at Issei once more. "Eye of –"
"Fumi-Kun," another voice called out, their voice sounding unusually drowsy. "Pleeease don't tell me you're starting a commotion on the very first day."
"… Sakuna. Please excuse me. I'm only trying to stave away this outsider."
"And using your Stand in public is a good idea?"
Issei didn't really understand what he meant by that, but the now identified Fumi-Kun hitched upon hearing that.
Issei took that moment of silence to regard the person, Sakuna, that had just walked out of the classroom he was intending to enter. His hairstyle oddly reminded him of Motohama's, for he had the same jet black hair tracing the sides of his head. However, Sakuna's hair was a lot more unruly than Motohama's. Moreover, instead of glasses, he sported some extreme dark circles. While we wore his uniform well, it was clear that he had trouble maintaining it, due to the visible crinkles on the fabric. It was even more surprising when you consider that it was the very first day. His dark circles seemed to pair very well with his demeanour, however. He was keeping his hands within his pockets, and he had a horrible slouch.
"We were already told that someone else would be joining our class. We'd already made arrangements for him."
"Arrangements?!" 'Fumi-Kun' roared back, suddenly enraged by the use of that word. "Are you forgetting them, Sakuna?! The ones who we've – "
"Haven't we already had that discussion, Fumi-Kun? We've all already accepted it, you should too. And no, we wouldn't ever dare forget them, but we're not letting our guilt get in the way of us."
'Fumi-Kun' stayed quiet at that, then hissed as he looked away.
"Um…" Issei cut in. "I have no idea what that whole thing was about, but it's good to meet you! I'm Issei Hyoudou!"
"Hm. Good to knoooow, stranger," Sakuna replied. "I'm Sakuna Hirose, and this one is Fumihiro Sasaki. Come on in."
As Sakuna re-entered the class, Fumihiro dusted himself off.
"Cause no trouble, and you'll get no beef from me. Got it?"
"Yes, Sasaki-san!"
With that confirmation that Fumihiro was ready to let Issei into the class, Issei picked up his bag and opened the door.
What was inside was just another regular classroom. The students of class 2-E were dividing themselves into different groups and talking to each other, while certain people were just sitting by idly, just like every class was wont to do.
However, the moment he stepped into the class, everyone automatically cast their gaze at him. For a moment, Issei felt as if everyone's eyes had been replaced by red orbs; that's how intense their stares were.
Issei felt like he was sitting under the feet of every person there, where they could squash him at any moment. After being overshadowed by his brother for so long, he could say it for certain.
Every single person in that class was leagues more powerful than he could ever be.
"H-Hello, I'm… Issei Hyoudou…" Issei murmured, doing his best not to shrink at the gazes of every person there. "P-Please take care of me…"
After a few moments, another boy stood up from his seat. He was tall; enough to tower over everyone else in the room. Buff, too, incredibly so, even though he wasn't bulky in any way. A redhead with a long, near horse-like face and amber eyes that seemed shrunken as others were watched by them. He cast another scathing look at the boy, then walked up to him.
Just as he got within arm's reach of him, Issei felt his throat gulping. He knew that something else was going to happen right then and there, without a doubt.
Before he knew it, the redhead suddenly widened his stance and raised a once pocketed fist into a low blow, aiming directly at his gut. What surprised him was that the boy did not give his attack away. If an inexperienced person had been standing in Issei's place, they would not have blocked that attack for certain. The redhead did not project his attack at all, it was only thanks to Issei's reading of the room that he anticipated the hit.
Just as Issei jumped back to avoid it, however, another person suddenly appeared in front of him, catching the fist before it would have made contact. The person who caught the attack was a girl. Even though her blonde hair was in a boy cut and her body was muscly, the skirt she was wearing definitely gave away the fact that she was a girl.
The very first thing that Issei thought, however, was that her ass was taut. He was more of a boob-man himself, but he could certainly appreciate good eye candy in any shape or form.
That being said, he certainly wasn't prepared for what would happen next.
"OI! THE HELL ARE YOU DOING TO THE NEW KID?!"
"PUTTING HIM IN HIS PLACE, OF COURSE! WHAT, GOT A PROBLEM WITH THAT?!"
"OF COURSE, YA DINGUS! DO YOU WANT ME TO BEAT YOU UP?!"
"HA, I'VE BEEN TRAINING! I'LL BEAT YOU NEXT TIME DEFINITELY!"
"YOU'VE SAID THAT, LIKE, 500 TIMES NOW, YOU PANSY!"
"Uhh…" Issei gaped as he watched the two bicker. Looking around, he saw everyone's head shaking as if they were already used to this sight.
"Don't woooorry, stranger," Sakuna spoke up, gently resting a hand on his back. "Those two are always like that. Believe it or not, they're dating."
"Eh?!" Issei remarked, flinching away from the tired boy. "Those two are dating?!"
"Yeeeep. They care about strength, and they respect each other, so they're going well. They're our class's star couple."
"Star couple too, huh…" Issei sighed, casting his gaze down. Soon after that, however, he clenched his fist and shot up it up the sky, revealing a determined look on his face.
"Just you wait, man! I'll be taking that star couple place from you! I'll be the Harem King, no matter what!"
Luckily, the redhead wasn't listening to him. He was still busy shouting at his girlfriend. The rest of the class, however, heard him well enough.
"You reeeeeaaally need to sort out your priorities, stranger," Sakuna remarked.
The day was a pretty straightforward one. He got to interact with some of his class members, but none of them actually wanted to associate with him for some reason. However, he could certainly determine that even though they were all split into groups, they were probably the most united class in the entire school.
For starters, they all broke the rules together. The dress code, to be precise. The girl's uniform normally had a really short skirt that would flash their panties easily if a light draft drew, which was part of the reason why Issei wanted to go to Kuoh in the first place. However, not even a single girl in that class cared about that. Instead, they all wore past-knee length dark blue skirts that went poorly with the grey colours of the rest of the uniform. Seeing how they were all the same, Issei assumed that they all came from Alliance's uniform. Aside from that, none of them even wore the bows that came with the uniform.
Safe to say that he was internally crying at those facts.
Secondly, there was the matter of shoes. As of then, Issei was the only person in class 2-E to follow the actual protocol for shoes: black, well-polished, school shoes. Every other person, meanwhile, were wearing black sports shoes. Even in the orientation, some members of the Student Council told them all off for their shoes, but they ignored them. They even attempted to get the girls to change their skirts, but the clear leader of the girl's exclusive group in the class, a gyaru that was yet to introduce herself to Issei, quickly told them off by stating that they weren't looking to become whores.
Safe to say that Issei cried about that to Motohama and Matsuda after the orientation, who simply laughed at his demise and bragged about some of the hotties in their own class.
As for the shoes, when they all went back to their class after orientation, Issei ended up asking a person sitting next to him in the anime protagonist's seat.
"No big deal, my brother," he roughly commented. "They're better for running than the actual shoes."
"But aren't we supposed to run in gym class only?"
The boy hadn't bothered to respond to that question, instead choosing to simply walk away after a slight wave.
As such, unsatisfied with the strange state of his new class, Issei finally found some familiarity in reuniting with Matsuda and Motohama. Together, they talked about the girls that were present in 2-B and agonized over some characters like Kiba from Class 2-D, the bishounen of the grade that perverts like them would spare no expense to kill.
However, as they left the gates of the school and were about to part ways, they were interrupted by a very feminine and cute voice.
"Excuse me, are you Issei Hyoudou-kun?"
Issei blinked in surprise and turned around to look at the girl who approached him.
The girl was clearly wearing a different uniform from anyone at Kuoh. Not like the modifications in class 2-E, but an entirely different one altogether. She was wearing a red blazer emblazoned with a 'D' icon alongside a white shirt and a red bow across her neck. Her skirt was black with a lone white strip running across the hem. It was evident that she was from a different school, which led Issei to wonder if she had skipped her last period just to wait there for him.
However, that was not at the forefront of his mind, because holy mother of boobs.
Her arms were pressed against those badonkers, spreading them apart in such a way that made all of Issei's erotic hormones light up. And not only that, but the way she shielded her chin with her nervous look made her look so much cuter than any girl Issei had ever seen on a porn mag.
"A-Ah, Hyoudou-kun… um… are you… d-do you have a girlfriend, Hyoudou-Kun?"
"Eh?" Issei gaped, not understanding where this was going. He discreetly cast a gaze to his friends who were watching behind him, who were gaping as wide as he was at the beauty before them.
"Um, no I don't."
"Really?!" the girl exclaimed, her eyes suddenly lighting up in delight. "A-Ah, then… would… would you…"
Issei stood frozen with a bated breath. Was this actually happening? Was he dreaming? He unnoticeably bit the inside of his cheek and confirmed that he was awake when he felt the light sting of pain.
"Would you please go out with me?!"
As the girl bowed low in request, Issei gaped in shock yet again. An absolute beauty like her was confessing to a guy like him?
"Yes! Yes, I will!"
There was no way he was going to give up such a chance. This was candidate number 1, after all! For a future Harem King like himself, he had to start somewhere! This was the beginning of his dream!
But he couldn't do that, not when there was such a cute girl earnestly confessing to him. He expected that someone as shy as her probably wouldn't be happy with him essentially two-timing her.
As such, Issei resolved himself to change. Once again, he saw the worth of his Aniki's words. It was clear that this girl approached him because he no longer acted like a pervert. That meant that he would forego everything for her. Issei Hyoudou resolved to himself that he would never see another girl in such a light ever again, not as long as he was with this girl.
As such, Issei swore to abandon his Harem King dream, no matter how closely he once held it to his own heart, for the sake of the girl before him.
"Could you tell me your name?" Issei asked, wanting to know his new girlfriend's name.
"A-Ah, right! I forgot!" the girl suddenly yelped, going red-faced and covering her face in embarrassment in such a way that made Issei smile. "I-I'm Yuuma. Yuuma Amano. I-It's so good to finally open up about this to you, Hyoudou-Kun!"
"A-Ah, Yuuma-chan, huh? Ok – "
"Y-You used my first name?"
"Ah! Shouldn't I have?"
"N-No… I just wasn't ready for it… Um… can I call you… Issei… Kun… as well?"
"Y-Yeah!" Issei remarked, his face going just as red as the girl's as he heard his own name coming out from such a cute voice. "Y-You can always call me that!"
"Okay then! Issei-Kun!" Yuuma cheered with a bright nod. "C-Can I have your number? Let's go out tomorrow!"
"Of course! H-Here, I'll give you my phone…"
Handing his phone to her, she quickly thumbed in her number with a beaming smile. Upon accepting it back, Issei couldn't help but smile further at the heart emojis at the end of her name on her contact.
"I-I'll see you then, Issei-Kun!" she yelled out before running away. She didn't go all the way, for she stopped a while later, then twirled back to face him once more, smiling at him while cocking her head in the cute manner only certain girls could do.
"I can't wait!"
"I-I can't wait either! Yuuma-chan!"
Issei couldn't hold back his toothy grin as he watched Yuuma-chan skip away into the horizon. However, just as she vanished and Issei contemplated what he'd done to get so lucky, he suddenly felt the impact of two fists hitting his gut.
"ISSEI, YOU BASTARD!" Matsuda and Motohama screamed behind him in jealousy.
And despite their jealousy, Issei couldn't help but cut through the pain with laughter. Because he had finally one-upped them both. He was the first among them to get an actual, real-life girlfriend.
How he would regret ever having met her is a story to come.
A/N: Alright, new story. I'm not giving up on Re: Teyvat just yet, so people who're reading that don't need to worry. My upload rate will be slower because this story was banging in my head like MCBA did, so I'm risking my final year at university to upload this.
Well, I'm starting a brand new story! Now, this is another reach story for me. I don't know if I'll ever finish this one. Mainly because I'm not very well versed in the lore of DxD. I've watched the anime, and I hardly remember anything in the later seasons because the plot was just that dry. I can reliably work up to the end of the Kokabiel Arc, but after that, I will either stop or I will craft my own story. I'm not suffering another DxD runthrough for the sake of this.
Personally, I am actually a Highschool DxD hater. I hate it because its a genuinely feasible and somewhat interesting plotline that's wasted on softcore porn. I mean, I'm not any better as a fanfiction writer, but at least I understand this.
That being said, I do love the fanfiction made for this series. The tons of Mary Sue style Isseis with impractically sized harems are great for mindless reading. There are even a few gems in the fanbase that genuinely seek to improve the story. To the authors of those stories, I send my respect.
Now, this is actually a sequel to another story I created: MC's Bizarre Adventure. A JoJo's and Doki Doki Literature Club crossover. However, here's the good news; you do not need knowledge of either DDLC or DxD to read this. This is a completely separate story to that one, featuring a completely new set of characters. I will also be explaining the DxD plot from scratch, so there will be no need to know about DxD unless you want to be aware of Easter Eggs. It's almost like Re: Teyvat, in that sense.
That being said, I would highly recommend reading MCBA before coming here. You'll find out some great details, like knowing some of the history of Alliance High School. It's the setting for MCBA, but I'm not featuring the currently shown events in there. There's no plague, there's no tragedy happening to class 2-E. Instead, we have a time traveler suffering from incredible trauma for having to deal with the life, personal issues and shit of four girls in the Literature Club, along with all the danger that being a Stand User can bring. Fun times, yes.
Also, I don't like the title of this story, I just came up with this one on a whim. I'd be willing to hear other ideas.
Now, to express how much I hate DxD and for some other details, I think I should show you something that I wrote earlier. This is an excerpt of my notification in MCBA for this upcoming sequel.
Now, onto my personal view of DxD. I hate it. Simple as that, I absolutely hate High School DxD. I've watched the whole anime for some unknown reason (Yeah, we all know the reason), but from a literary standpoint, it is outright garbage. Almost every antagonist is incredibly shallow, enough to make me name my favorite antagonist in this series as Diodora. Yeah, the guy that orchestrated the ruin of Asia's Holy Maiden life. Why? Precisely that. Diodora was the only one given a semblance of existence outside of his arc, and even then, he's still shit. I call him my 'favorite' because he's just a little better than the others, even though he's still as shitty. Not even a single antagonist made it into my good books. Oh, Raynare is at the same level too, mainly because she's not just forgotten in the future of the series. Loki would have been good if it weren't for the fact that he was hardly ever shown on the screen. And who in the world is Cao Cao, I've already forgotten about him. And don't ask me about the manga, I haven't read it and I don't plan to. I only know about ones like Rizevim and Trihexa due to fanfics.
And let's not get started on the harem characters. Sure, every member of Issei's harem (and Kiba) have a somewhat good backstory. But even then, there are characters that were just ruined, absolutely destroyed because the creator wanted them to be in the harem. Xenovia is the best example of this. There's so much to her, a person that was thrust away from the only family that she knew and accepted, forced to separate from her foster mother and best friend, all because she was forcibly told a forbidden truth. And what's the next thing she does? She strips in a broom closet and asks for Issei's babies. I am not joking here, I'm dead serious. This is actually what happens after she, an exorcist for the church, willingly becomes a devil after being excommunicated. It may seem funny, but it's insulting to her character. There are so many characters that aren't given enough justice because they were forced into this harem by the creator.
Now, that was a long rant, but I know the question on your minds. Why the hell am I making this monstrosity the base for my sequel?
Read that question again, and you may get it.
No? Okay, here you go. I will be taking the base only. I will keep the same DxD cast, and Issei will be the protagonist. Rias, Sona, and their peerages will be there. I'm definitely not missing out on Asia, the literal best character in the series. There may even be a Harem, who knows? But things will be different. I will apply all the changes I can to the series to make it better from a literary standpoint. I will add more life to the characters and make them bigger than simple walls that the protagonist has to climb over.
And why DxD? The base is actually an incredible one. That's the only area where I have to show respect to the creator. A young perverted boy's eyes are thrust open to the existence of religious figure such as devils, angels, fallen angels and other religious figures and gods, and also finds that he's born with a special power that makes him of value in the Devil group that he joins. Oh, and he becomes a devil himself too. This plot is actually a very promising one, and it was ruined by being turned into a fucking hentai. Safe to say that I won't do that, not ever. Maybe I'll include a sex scene or two this time, but it'll be a novel experience for me, so I'll have to see. In any case, it will never become the forefront of the story. I'm even reducing Issei's perverted tendencies to manageable levels from the beginning. He's no longer going to go through that weird and stupid anime thing where peeping in a girl's bathroom, normally a genuine criminal offense, results in a slap on the wrist from authorities.
Moreover, the story of DxD actually fits very well with Araki's world; no offense to JoJo's at all. JoJo's uses pretty strong religious influences, while DxD is literally religious, even if it bastardizes ever religion in existence. They fit pretty snugly, and I've got some good suspense in mind already.
Oh, and let's not forget the Stands. This is technically MCBA Part 2, after all. The classic Stand Club (Literature Club) will not be in this series, so I'm sorry for those who loved those characters. Even the new entrants to the club, the ones that MC went back in time with in the final chapter, will not be there. As such, this will be something that can still be understood without having read MCBA, although it would be better to read it first before the next one.
I recommend you all read the above. Aside from me shitting on DxD, this contains some important details for the story you'd need to know.
Also, I can't believe that I'm writing this after being inspired by Ranking of Kings. I feel like I'm insulting its author.
Oh, and yeah. Of course Issei will get a Stand, why would I be making this otherwise? I'm not bringing actual JoJo characters in here, after all. All I'm using is the concept of Stands.
Anyway, yeah, that's all I've got to say for this. Suffice to say that I will be changing the regular DxD plot rather significantly as well, aside from the addition of Stands. I'll see you next chapter.
