"When will he wake up?"

"I don't know, just be quiet."

"I was only asking a question, jeez…"

He heard faint voices nearby, his ears ringing from stress. He grunted, his body aching with soreness. Slowly, he opened his eyes, squinting at the light shining in his vision.

"Ugh…" He groaned.

There was a laugh beside him. He blinked the haziness from his eyes, seeing a dark figure before him.

"Wh-Who…?" He croaked.

"Hmhmhm… finally awake, are we?" A feminine voice spoke, her dulcet tone soothing to the Celestial's ears.

Earth straightened up, looking at the two figures before him with a dazed look, "Wha-What happened…?"

"You passed out, and now you're here- in the In-between."

"And who are you…?"

"Ah, where are our manners? You must forgive us, we haven't spoken to another entity in ages." The mysterious figure outstretched her hand, "My name is SN 1987A, but you can call me Mage."

Earth hesitantly took the offered hand, feeling a spark of energy tingling through his hand and lower arm.

"And this is SN 1604, also known as Kepler's Supernova."

Earth's eyes started to widen, "You two are legends…!"

"We are?" Kepler asked.

"Of course, we are!" Mage puffed her chest out, a prudent smile on her face.

"You were visible for eighteen months! Even my earthlings could see you!" Earth told Kepler, taking their hand and shaking it. Kepler seemed taken aback at the contact, posture tense and eyes wide. Earth looked back at Mage, "And you were the closest Supernova observed since the invention of the telescope."

"What's a telescope?" Mage raised a hand to her chin.

"It helps my earthlings research everything about nearby planets and Stars."

"Ah, how… cute." Mage clicked her tongue, distaste flaring in her eyes, "Anyway, about your 'earthlings', as you call them…"

"Oh, they're amazing! They've come a long way from hitting rocks together and always having to hunt for food. They've really evolved since then-"

"Do you ever shut up!?" Mage snapped.

Earth flinched, immediately closing his mouth and backing away a few inches.

"Finally… anyway, as I was saying," Mage started circling Earth, analyzing him, "As a planet with life, things must be tough for you."

Earth raised a brow, "Uh, I guess?"

"Have you always had life?"

"No… there was another planet, and she uhm… well, I have her to thank."

"I see…" Mage paused in her steps, leaning closer to him.

Earth jumped, pulling away from her while covering his head, "Can you not? I don't feel comfortable with other beings looking at my surface."

"Mmh, right… my apologies." Mage squinted her eyes, "You're different from the others."

"Others…?"

"The other planets with life." Mage shrugged, shifting to stand beside Kepler.

"There are… other planets with life?" Earth's eyes widened, slowly pulling his hands away from his head, "What are they like?"

"Could be worse."

Earth gave a confused stare, turning his gaze on Kepler.

"Most of them have been destroyed," Kepler revealed.

"Wh… What?" Earth drew his eyebrows together, shock and confusion dawning on his face as turmoil boiled inside him, "B-But how? Why!?"

Mage tilted her head, peering at him with a skeptical gaze, "I'm sorry, but weren't you the one who didn't want anybody else to harbor life because of your jealousy and fragile ego? You should be happy knowing they're dying out. Soon, you'll be the only planet with life."

Earth's mouth dropped, a horrified expression on his face, "What is wrong with you!? I would never wish death upon other planets, whether they have life or not!"

"That's such a hypocritical thing for you to say," Mage smirked, disappearing into the shadows. Earth whipped his head around, trying to find her, "I bet you didn't give a damn about those moons you degraded."

Earth froze, breath catching in his throat.

"Moons should know their place!"

The words echoed beside him, prompting him to turn. The memory was before him, playing over and over again.

"I dug through your memories while you were unconscious and found this little gem hiding in the back…" Mage spoke, propping the memory in the palm of her midnight blue iridescent hand, "Quite the bark you've got there."

"Moons should know their place!"

"Moons should know their place!"

"Moons should know their place!"

"P-Please… make it stop…" Earth uttered, the words swirling around in his head, making it pound with agony. A hand pressed down on his shoulder, making him flinch as sharp nails dug into his surface. Shakily, he glanced up at Mage, "Wh-What do you want from me…?"

"Kepler, why don't you get the oculus penitus somniantes while I talk to our dear friend here?" Mage looked over her shoulder, dark eyes glinting with malevolence. Kepler nodded before disappearing with a flash. Mage turned to peer at Earth, her gaze piercing his surface.

"You guys were a big deal, wh-what…" Earth trailed off, feeling the claws going in deeper. He winced, voice shaky, "What happened?"

"You know that one saying- what was it again…? Oh, yeah," Mage snapped her fingers, a devious smirk rising on her face, "Never meet your heroes."

Earth faltered, his gaze lowering.

"I bet that's what that one moon felt when you berated him. What a pity, really…"

"I-I didn't mean-"

Mage sunk her claws deeper, tearing at Earth's denim jacket, "Hahah! Don't tell me you're about to say you didn't mean to. Nobody with an ounce of intelligence would say something like that."

Earth closed his eyes, the pain on his surface becoming unbearable, "Please… just let me go… you're hurting me."

Mage rolled her eyes, "The pain you're 'feeling' isn't real. It's all in your head."

She removed her hand. Earth grasped his shoulder, letting out sharp breaths as he tried to heal it.

"Haha, your powers don't work here." Mage laughed lightly, "You're in the In-between; only a Novae can use their powers here."

"And when can I leave?" Earth asked, only for Mage to clutch his face, claws digging into his chin. Earth grunted, raising his hands to grasp Mage's arm, pushing desperately at the void black skin.

"When we say you can."

Earth moved backward, only for Mage to restrain him with her other arm, keeping him in place. He tried desperately to pull away, but Mage's grip was stronger than him.

"Let… go!" Earth gritted through bare teeth, being unable to open his mouth.

"Why must you planets be so difficult? We're trying to help you." Mage huffed, pulling the Earth closer to her.

Earth was noticeably running out of energy, his strained movements slowing down.

"This will only take a second…"

Before he could ask what she meant, Earth felt something touching his lips. His eyes flew open and adrenaline came at him in full force, causing him to hit and kick the other as hard as he could.

Black dots scattered his vision and the atmosphere spun around him. His movements ceased considerably and he felt himself closing his eyes, falling unconscious once more.

"Oh, how I love when they struggle…"
