Mobile Suit Gundam: reawakening of a legacy
Chapter 14. Yushai leaves the base, finding a reason to fight, sorrow that all warriors carry
In the Pegasus ship many of the workers are seen trying to fix the damage to the ship so they can continue on there journey, Yushai is seen very tired after the many battles he was in, space now earth and he's feeling more tired as he really needs to rest which he sleeps a lot more in his room, at the same time Bright is seen talking with Chifuyu and Misato about there situation now that they know that the enemy has hit them badly.
Bright: we need a strategic plan before the enemy strikes again.
Misato: we could have one of our I.S pilots be on the lookout for anymore enemies that might be hidden in the desert that we might missed or see coming.
Chifuyu: I think Cecilia can handle it, but the desert is extremely hot and then become really cold at night.
Misato: the desert is very either on day or night we can't put her through that we need a new plan.
Bright: your so right we definitely need a plan on how to handle this problem.
(Scene change)
(Gundam IBO – Barren Land)
At the Zion forces Base, everyone is repairing there mobile suits so they can be ready for the next attack on the Pegasus ship, in the command room both Blaze and Andrew Wiltfeld are trying out a new plan against the Pegasus ship.
Andrew: according to my scouts the Pegasus ship is still damaged from our last strike, it appears we hit them good.
Blaze: true but I've seen how resilient they can be, underestimating them will led to one's down fall.
Andrew: oh? Does this has to do with that pilot you fought against in that white mobile suit?
Blaze: yes. That pilot is somehow getting better and better by the minute along with adopting to situations that he would be in.
Andrew: hmmm… pilots like that are rare even on the battlefield, that pilot is without a doubt going to be trouble for us.
Blaze: so true.
Andrew: well then I'm going to be out for a bit and buy some coffee beans we're about to run out soon.
Blaze: heh, of course.
(Scene change)
Back on the Pegasus ship, Yushai is seen running tests on the mobile suit to make sure it is working well so he can be ready for when the enemy may strike them again, then he hears Bright and Chifuyu talking to each other.
Chifuyu: Bright, your thinking about having one of my students pilot one of the mobile suits?
Bright: I think it's for the best if one of our pilots are unable to fight we would need a backup just in case also.
Chifuyu: ?
Bright: Yushai is getting a bit more difficult.
Chifuyu: is this about his skills as a pilot and how he's adapting somehow to different situations.
Bright: that's right I think it's best to have someone else pilot the Gundam in his stead.
Yushai was shock by what he just heard from the captain, after everything he has done for everyone along with giving it his all in order to protect them all, he then left the hanger and to his room and packed his things without anyone else noticing then he secretly leaves the Pegasus ship.
As he left, Tina looked around the ship for him not knowing her brother left already.
Tina: Yushai! Yushai!
Joshua: hmm? Tina what are you doing?
Tina: I'm trying to find my Brother do you know where he is?
Joshua: no I have not and neither did the others. But I did hear a vehicle outside though but the kid wouldn't leave.
Tina: … I think he did.
Joshua: if so Bright is going to be pissed once he finds out about this.
(Scene change)
(Mobile suit Gundam Unicorn – Desert)
In the vehicle Yushai is seen far away from the ship and is now entering a town that has market place full of people that are shopping for either food or supplies, Yushai gets out of the vehicle and goes into one or the stores to get some food so he can survive the journey but as he does he runs into Andrew Wiltfeld who was in the shop as well and he noticed that the kid had little money on him.
Andrew: let me help you out a bit kid.
Yushai: ummm, thank you sir.
Andrew: no problem.
Once Yushai got his supplies he left the store but Andrew was suspicious of him and decided to follow him in secret.
Soon it was nightfall, in a destroyed base Yushai tries to sleep but couldn't even with the campfire still burning as he keeps hearing ghosts of the people he killed which continues to scare him along with feeling nothing but guilt for what he's done, then he hears a vehicle close to him it was Andrew.
Andrew: what are you doing here by yourself kid?
Yushai: …
Andrew: mind if I sit with you?
Yushai: … it's okay.
The older man sits across from Yushai and makes some coffee, one for himself and another for Yushai who takes it, Andrew didn't show it but he can tell immediately that the boy has seen and experienced combat and battles.
Andrew: so you are a soldier huh.
Yushai: !?
Andrew: it's okay, I'm not here to fight or anything like that. But I can tell you have been having a hard time.
Yushai: how do you do it?
Andrew: ?
Yushai : how do you or any soldier handle such trauma and the horrors of war…
Andrew: … how do we handle it huh… it's not that simple kid.
Yushai: …
Andrew: the horrors of war… will always stay with us even if peace is achieved the ghosts of the dead, the people whom we killed will haunt us for the rest of our lives… even there loved ones would want to have revenge on them for what they have done… that is the burden that people like us must carry as the survivors of war…
Yushai soon started to feel even more guilty as he slowly begins to shed tears.
Andrew: kid.
Yushai: I get it… a man must never cry…
Andrew: no kid crying because you care is a sign that you do care and now see how precious a life truly is no matter what side that soldier is on.
Yushai doesn't say anything but completely understand what Andrew says as tears continue to fall from his eyes, the next day Yushai wakes up from his sleep and sees that Andrew is already long gone this has Yushai wonders what to do until he finally decided to return to the Pegasus ship even though he knows he's going to be punished for leaving.
(Scene change)
With Zion forces, Andrew has returned and has brought back supplies along with his coffee beans as well.
Andrew: sorry that I was late.
Blaze: it's okay, but all of our forces are ready to begin the second strike against the enemy's ship.
Andrew: well then, I guess we should get started then.
Meanwhile at the Pegasus ship Ichika is having a hard time trying to master the Gundam which is far more complicated for him then an I.S, of course he wasn't the only one the others were also having trouble just like him plus everyone can see how angry Bright is now that he knows that Yushai left the ship which has made him very upset, then the alarm goes off meaning the enemy is attacking them once again.
(Ace Combat Zero – Final Overture)
Bright: we're under attack once again! All pilots prepare to head out now! All hands prepare for combat!
Everyone then boards there mobile suits and heads out to the battlefield to fight off against Zion forces, Houki and the others uses there I.S to fight off the enemy forces as well as for Ichika he heads out in the Gundam and tries to fight them but again he is having difficulty trying to use the mobile suit.
Ichika: man… this is so difficult, how does Yushai pilot this thing!
Tina: huh? Ichika look out!
Ichika: huh?
Everyone spots Blaze's JIN custom alongside Andrew Wiltfeld they knew how screwed they are as the red Comet soon started attacking Ichika with dangerous attacks.
Blaze: is this all you got, Gundam!
Ichika: oh god! I'm going to die!
Houki: Ichika!
The girls are stopped by Andrew who attacks the girls preventing them from reaching Ichika.
Andrew: sorry Girls but your going to have to go through me. Hmm there's something different about how that white mobile suit is fighting… is there someone else in there?
Joshua: this isn't over yet desert tiger!
The two clash blades against each other in battle, as this happens a vehicle is seen heading directly into the war zone, Tina sees him and quickly covers her brother and then knocks Blaze away from Ichika.
Tina: Ichika, quickly get out of the mobile suit!
Ichika: huh? Why?
Yushai: because I'm here!
Ichika: what Yushai?... take it it's all yours!
Ichika exits out of the Gundam and hands it to Yushai who soon gets it back on its feet, Andrew recognized him from before and is surprised he's the pilot, Blaze attacks once again and he noticed something different as the mobile suit is able to catch up and match him in combat.
Blaze: so there was a different person piloting it but it doesn't matter I will still defeat you!
Yushai: we'll see about that!
The two charges at each other, at the last minute the two swing there blades at each Yushai was able to cut off one of Blaze's Jin arms this made the red Comet realize that they must retreat for now, Andrew agrees as there forces including themselves also leaves the battlefield.
(End of music)
The group returns to the Pegasus ship, Bright slaps Yushai for abandoning his duties and sends him to confinement as punishment.
Yushai: …
Tina: Yushai… you really made everyone very worried including me.
Yushai: … I'm sorry, Tina I was being selfish I understand now this isn't just my problem but everyone's. I'm going to try to be better so I don't let my personal feelings get in the way.
Tina smiled a little until she leaves him, Yushai thinks about his battle along with understanding what it means to be a soldier.
Then everything fades to black.
