After getting some feedback about the first version of this "trailer", I decided to rewrite it so it won't give people any weird ideas to get addicted to video games believing they will reincarnate into their favorite game's world.

Like they said at the start of the second official trailer of the Minecraft movie; "What Is My Actual Role As A Reincarnated NPC?, take 2!"

Disclaimer: I do not own any Rune Factory characters! I only own my original characters!

Trailer 2

How would you answer if somebody asked you what was your favorite video game? If I got that question, my answer would instantly be Rune Factory. It was by pure coincidence I came across the series back when I was a young teen. I was on the hunt for a good game when I found an intriguing game in my local game store in the discount section. I was never really into farm simulation games, but this one was a mixture of fantasy and monsters which was one of the few categories I enjoyed.

I bought the game and started playing right away, and to this day I never regretted discovering this franchise. It had more than I imagined, so I played it every time I got some spare time after dealing with school and homework. It was my escape when real life got too heavy for me to carry on my shoulders.

It took a long time for the company to implement the choice of being a female protagonist until Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny, but that option was only unlocked in post-game, which was a bummer. However, after receiving good reviews and pointers, Marvelous began including the gender option at the beginning of each new save file in Rune Factory 4.

This made me want to marry every single bachelor and bachelorette as a boy and girl because the romance partners got better in Rune Factory 4. And of course I had one favorite from both genders that I married first before I opened save files I created so I could marry the rest. The only downside was I had to play the whole game again, the second time as a boy, so I could say I got every available spouse. I found it odd they never gave the other protagonist a role in the game like how they did in Tides of Destiny when Sonja's soul returned to her body after being trapped in Aden's throughout the main plot.

That was why I got so happy when Rune Factory 5 was released with the feature that you could finally have same-gender marriage without having to play through the game again in the opposite gender, unless you wanted to collect every wedding cutscene. My wish came true when they revealed they kept that feature in their latest game, Guardians of Azuma. I fell in love with every sixteen new romantic interests including both protagonists who were finally featured together in the same game as Oceans. They didn't do that for Rune Factory 4.

If I were to be living as a character in Guardians of Azuma, I would have an extremely difficult time choosing who I'd want to marry. They all had gorgeous designs and amusing personalities.

I dropped everything I had and hopped into the game as soon as it was released on Steam. I had to say, it was the best Rune Factory game by far. The graphics were a huge improvement after the rushed touches they didn't fix before releasing Rune Factory 5. Guardians of Azuma was heavily inspired by Japanese designs and aesthetics, all from characters and monsters to festivals and buildings and beyond. I found myself enjoying the construction of each village in however way I wanted. It was a fun little challenge coming up with designs by myself without having to rely on other people's designs and steal their ideas to create my villages.

This particular night, I came home late from work, exhausted by overworking for a long period of time. My body told me to go rest, but I didn't want to just yet. I was so close marrying the final romantic interest as the female protagonist Kaguya. I promised myself I'd finish it today. As the wedding scene rolled with me marrying the final character, my vison became blurry with black dots popping up. I fought against the warning signs, knowing I was very close to end the game.

As soon as the wedding was over, I remembered saving the game and hurrying to my bed to get some rest. My brain practically shut down after I pulled the covers over my cold body, not knowing my deteriorated health was going to rob my life.

I passed away in my early thirties due to poor health after slaving away like a pawn for a black company. That was how I remembered things when I awoke in a new healthy body, reincarnated in a new world with memories from my previous life on Earth. I couldn't comprehend it at first until I realized I got a second chance in life and do things I never got to experience back in my first life in the world of Guardians of Azuma.

Curious about who I reincarnated into, I checked myself in the first reflection and was greeted by a plain face. Dread filled my heart as I figured I wasn't reborn as one of the main characters. I had become an NPC whose role was to tend to a business assigned by the player!

My depression didn't last long. I shouldn't be depressed merely because I wasn't reborn as a protagonist or one of the romantic characters. I was alive so I should simply make the best of it.

And maybe, just maybe, I could interact with my favorite characters and see if we could build a friendship which hopefully could develop into a romantic relationship.

But many questions remained; how was I even able to be reborn? Which god took pity on me and gave me a second chance to live after my previous body gave up? Could I find my answers as a side character?

My name is Akari and this is the tale of my new life as a non-player character and how I aided the amnesiac protagonist Subaru the Earth Dancer and his allies to revitalize the abundant land of Azuma after the Celestial Collapse.
