"A New Start"

In the Knothole Village, the Freedom Fighters are celebrating and cheering, with Sonic in the midst of the group.

Sonic is playing the guitar, singing, "For years, Robotnik thrashes our home with his hack. Until we go on the attack. His Doomsday Machine was just no match. Not with our Deep Power Stones catch. For years, Robotnik thrashes our home with his hack. Now ol' butt-nik is whacked."

Sonic continues to play his guitar, with Tails clapping, and Sally and Bunnie sharing a smile.

"Check out this power chord!" Sonic continues to play his guitar, hitting a loud chord.

Suddenly an explosion is heard going off in the distance, with Antoine falling off his seat with a yep.

"My stars, what was that?" Bunnie asks, with Sonic turning to the direction of the explosion.

"It sounds like it came from the Lake of Rings," Sally says.

"The Power Ring…" Sonic says to himself.

At the bottom of the Lake of Rings, Rotor swims down, grabbing the large Power Ring Generator, before slowly pushing it upward and swims back up.

Rotor and the Generator reach the surface of the lake, before Bunnie uses her roboticized arm to pull the Generator onto the ground, then Antoine helps Rotor out of the lake, though Antoine falls back.

Uncle Chuck knees next to the Generator, opening up a side panel and looking inside.

"What happened, Sir Charles?" Sally asks.

"It's just as I thought," Uncle Chuck starts, before he looks over at Sally and Sonic. "Before the mission against Robotnik's Doomsday Machine, I modified this so it will create three Power Rings, instead of just one."

"And it worked," Sonic says. "Those Power Rings saved my cool self from the Roboticizer."

"Unfortunately the Generator overloaded," Uncle Chuck continues, as he pulls out of the Generator a dim and cracked half of the Power Rock. "And now the Power Rock is completely useless."

The half of the Power Rock crumbles into tiny pieces.

"This isn't good," Sally holds a hand to her chin. "Now Sonic won't have a Power Ring when we go on the mission to retake Robotropolis tomorrow." She turns in the direction of the Great Forest. "Perhaps I should ask the other Freedom Fighters group to stay to assist us, Though it means postponing their plans to retake their own regions."

"No need, Sal," Sonic says, leaning in her direction. "With butt-nik gone, we have nothing to worry about." He slides a hand to the side. "Heck, I won't be needing any Power Rings."

Sally sighs, "I hope you're right."

Inside a large building within Robotropolis, Snively is walking through a hall, surveying damaged walls and exposed wires.

"Uncle Julian really left this place in such a mess," Snively says, with his arms behind his back. "I should complain to him, oh wait." He starts to grin a devious smile. "I can't."

Snively starts to laugh, before he cleans his voice, "There'll be time for that later." He continues forward. "I better prepare the place for the Freedom fighters' predictable, but pointless, attack."

As Snively continues to walk, a pair of eyes are watching him from the darkness.

The sun is rising above Robotropolis, with Sally standing on a hill overlooking the city, watching it with a pair of binoculars.

Sally sighs, before turning to look at Sonic and Bunnie, "Everyone knows the plan?"

Sonic smiles with a thumbs up, "Don't worry, Sal, we have it in the bag."

Rotor, who is carrying a large bag, Antoine, and Tails are sneaking through a Robotropolis street, before stopping at a corner to see a Surveillance Orb flying by. They then turn the corner and hurry, though Antoine nearly trips as he walks.

"Rotor, Tails, and Ant use our metal eating balloons to disable the security network…"

"As the three of us take the fight directly to Snively," Sonic clenches a fist, before stretching. "We'll be done in time for some Chili Dogs at noon."

"It won't be that simple," Sally tells him, before turning back at Robotropolis, looking through her binoculars. "Perhaps Tails should've stayed behind…"

"Tails'll be fine, Sally-girl, besides Robotnik is gone," Bunnie places a hand on Sally's shoulders.

"I know…" Sally says.

"Okay, okay," Sonic had crossed his arms, tapping his foot, with the girls looking at him. "Can we get things moving?"

A Surveillance Orb is floating in the air, when a balloon explodes against it, causing the Orb to start to melt and fall to the ground.

Rotor, Tails, and Antoine then turn a corner, running toward a building. Rotor approaches the building and starts to type at a console next to the entrance.

Tails stops next to the melted Surveillance Orb.

Antoine approaches Tail, placing a hand against his chest, "Don't worry, mon lil friend, just follow mon lead and you be in, how to say, good company."

A loud noise is then heard, before Antoine yells a "yep" and hides behind Tails.

"Got it," Rotor says, as the building's entrance opens, before he starts toward it.

"Right, I'll follow your lead," Tail says, with a small laugh, before he flies ahead.

Antoine huffs, before running ahead.

With Antoine far behind, Tails flies after Rotor, as they enter a large room, with the lights coming on.

"Rotor, why don't we just use the balloons to shut down security?" Tails asks.

"I doubt our remaining balloons will be enough, besides we might need the security hub later to revive Mobotropolis," Rotor says, as he and Tails approach a large computer console.

Tails lands, as Antoine catches up, then tries to catch his breath, with Tails watching him.

"Nonetheless, I might still be able to wrest control over security away from Snively," Rotor starts to type at the console.

Antoine turns to look behind them, becoming frightened, "Huh, Rotor…"

"Not now, Ant," Rotor continues to type.

Tails turns to look behind them, as Antoine becomes even more frightened, "Rotor."

"A few more minutes, Tails," Rotor continues to type.

"Rotor!" Antoine and Tails yell together.

"What is…" Rotor turns away to see several Swat-Bots entering the room. "It…"

A large pair of doors slam open, before Sonic comes speeding in, "Now where's Snively's little hiding hole?"

Sally and Bunnie come running in, before watching Sonic speeds back and forth in and out of doorways in the corridor.

"He might be right about being done quickly," Bunnie says, before glancing at Sally, who seemed to be in thought. "What's on your mind, Sally-girl?"

"This starts to feel too easy," Sally looks up at her friend. "After everything we went through, over the years…"

"We earned some 'easy'," Bunnie walks over to her.

Sally sighs, "I also don't know what to do after we capture Snively and reclaim control over Robo… Mobotropolis." She looks away slightly, crossing her arms. "It will take a lot of work to repair the damage Robotnik has done. And we still don't have a way to free my father from the Void."

"We'll be able to figure it all out, in time," Bunnie says, with Sally looking up at her. "And once all the crises are dealt with, perhaps you could settle down with a certain sugar-hog."

Sally blushes, before the two girls start laughing.

Sonic finally stops running, standing next to his friends, "What's so funny?"

Sally stops laughing, "Nothing, nothing at all. So, Sonic, found anything?"

"Nope, nothing, nada," Sonic spreads his arms. "The whole place is as quiet as a tomb."

"That is very appropriate," Snively's voice is heard over an intercom, with the three looking up and around. "As this will be your final resting place."

Several laser turrets pop out of the floor and the ceiling, before starting to fire.

Sonic speeds around and pushes Sally and Bunnie into a doorway, dodging the laser fire.

The laser turrets continue to fire, as Sonic peeks around the corner, "If I have a Power Ring, I can zip around those things and smash them before Snively could count his few remaining hair."

Bunnie looks at the wall next to her, before using her roboticized arm to rip a paneling off the wall, then turns to Sonic, "Not a Power Ring, but it might do for some cover."

Sonic grins with a thumbs up, "Let's do it to it, then."

Bunnie runs out of the doorway, holding up the paneling to block the laser fire, before Sonic speeds past her, speeding around into a ball and blows through two floor laser turrets, ripping them apart. A ceiling laser turret turns and starts to fire, before Bunnie stands in front of Sonic, blocking the laser.

Sonic then speeds past Bunnie, lands on a floor laser turret and manages to turn it, blasting a roof laser turret, then another.

Sally is watching her friends, before noticing a computer console in her room, then runs over it and holds out NICOLE's handheld computer.

"NICOLE, access this computer unit," Sally instructs.

"At once, Sally," NICOLE says, as computer lines run across her screens, and the computer console's screen turns on.

Sally sighs, "Hopefully, Tails and the others are having an easier time."

Tails, Antoine, and Rotor have their backs against the large computer, with several Swat-Bots in front of them.

"I-I-I'm not complaining, but why aren't they s-s-shooting?" Antoine asks.

Rotor glances over his shoulder for a moment, "Their programming must be keeping them from shooting to avoid damaging the security hub's computers."

"That's a relief," Antoine says.

The Swat-Bots start to approach the three.

"But that won't stop them from just seizing us," Rotor adds.

"That's not a relief," Antoine says.

Tails looks at Rotor's bag, before grabbing it and flying up, "I know!"

"Tails?" Rotor watches his friend.

"Since we don't need them for the security hub," Tails flies over the Swat-Bots, opening up the bag, and dropping several balloons onto the Swat-Bots, with the balloons exploding on contact and the Swat-Bots starting to melt. "Ah! It worked!"

"W-Well done, mon young protege, following mon lead as I instructed," Antoine proudly says, before hearing strange crackling sounds. "What with that noise?"

Rotor notices the ground starting to crack, "The balloons not only melting the Swat-Bots, they also melt through the ground!"

Suddenly, the ground breaks apart, with the melted Swat-Bots, Antoine, and Rotor falling through, as Rotor and Antoine scream.

"Oops," Tails throws away the bag and starts to fly through the large hole.

Bunnie jumps up and slams down the wall panel onto a floor laser turret, crushing it, as Sonic, rolls into a ball, blows through a ceiling laser turret, ripping it apart.

Sonic lands next to Bunnie, before they both smile and bump their fists, when a cannon pops out of the floor, then fires a large, electrified net. Sonic grabs Bunnie and starts to speed away, as more cannons pop out and firing out electrified nets.

"Ol' Ro-butt-nik might be gone, but his security system is still alive and kicking," Sonic says, as he continues to carry Bunnie and speed around.

"I found a double-redundant system, Sally," NICOLE says, as Sally types at the computer console. "We can use it to overload the security traps."

"Okay, on my mark," Sally continues to type. "Mark."

The cannons start to surge with electricity, before going lifeless, as Sonic comes to a stop and lets down Bunnie.

"Guess the party's over," Sonic jokes.

A security feed is playing on a monitor showing Sally entering the corridor and starting to approach Sonic and Bunnie.

"The party's far from over," Snively sits back in a chair, sitting in front of the monitor, with his fingers tapping together. "I should know Uncle Julian's weak security measures would be completely useless." Snively starts to get out of the chair. "I just have to handle this myself."

Snively walks past someone standing in the shadows, as he continues, "Watch how we do things nowadays."

The person in the shadows narrows their eyes.

Tails flies down to Rotor and Antoine, as they slowly get up, surrounded by debris.

"I'm so sorry," Tails lands next to his friends.

"It's okay, Tails," Rotor tells him.

"Okay mon foot, I'm gonna feel this ouchie for weeks," Antoine rubs his backside, before trying to look away. "And why is it so dark?"

Rotor holds up a green stick, taking it by both hands and bends it, causing the stick to glow brightly, illuminating the room and reveals they are surrounded by damaged and trashed Swat-Bots, some of which are melted, and Buzz Bombers.

"Oh dear," Antoine says, before he shakes slightly and then falls back.

Sonic, Bunnie, and Sally, who is holding a walkie-talkie, are entering a large room, with computer consoles throughout the room.

"This looks like a command room," Bunnie realizes.

"I don't like this," Sally says.

"Yeah, it could use a few things, maybe a chili dog stand," Sonic places a hand on his chin.

"No, I hadn't been able to hail Tails and the others," Sally, with Sonic and Bunnie turning to her. "And after those traps we barely got through."

"'Barely', we had it in the bag, Sal," Sonic waves a hand. "Besides, Ant probably just sat on their communicator, but if you want, I could go after them."

Suddenly a door slide closes, blocking their exit, with the three friends turning to it.

"You aren't going anywhere, Hedgehog!"

Dropping down, several feet behind them, is a large gray mecha suit, with two cannon-like arms, and a window on its round body, revealing Snively, holding onto two arm-like levers.

"Snively?" Sonic starts. "I noticed you got a new business suit. Hopefully, you kept the receipt."

"Unlike my foolish uncle," Snively starts, as Sonic speeds ahead. "I won't be defeated by some useless creatures!"

Snively pulls on the right lever, with the mech suit's right arm punches ahead, seconds away from colliding with Sonic, when Snively presses a button on the lever. Suddenly, a large bubble pops out of the arm, encapsulating Sonic in the bubble.

"Hey, what's this?!" Sonic places his hands on the inside of the bubble.

"A little insurance against annoying pests," Snively responds, with Sonic trying to run in the bubble, but ends up falling back and lands on his back. "A frictionless bubble, nigh indestructible."

"Sonic!" Sally calls out.

"I'll get you out of that jam, sugar-hog," Bunnie runs ahead.

"I haven't forgotten about you," Snively pulls on the left lever, with the mech suit's left arm aimed ahead.

Suddenly, a green goop shoots out of the mech suit's left arm, hitting Bunnie's feet, stopping her in her tracks, with Bunnie almost falling over.

"Gross," Bunnie tries to pull her legs free, but is unable to. "What is this mess?!"

"A special adhesive substance I cooked up myself," Snively explains. "Two Swat-Bots can burn out their motors, and still won't be able to pull free."

"You really know how to show a girl a good time," Bunnie says.

"Now, for the former princess," Snively starts to eye Sally.

Sally, with her hands behind her back, whispers out of the corner of her mouth, "NICOLE?"

"I can't remotely access the mech suit, but I found the schematics onboard a nearby computer console," NICOLE explains, at low volume. "There's a deactivating button on the back of the suit. Logic details in case it fell into the wrong hands."

"Safe to say it in the wrong hands now," Sally whispers out of the corner of her mouth, before glancing at Sonic, who notices her, and nods her head.

Sonic nods his head, then looks back at Snively, "Hey balding, just wondering, where did you get your grown up pants?"

"What?!" Snively turns his head to Sonic, floating in the bubble.

"Seems a little advanced for you," Sonic crosses one arm and places his other hand on his chin.

"Probably sum hand-me-downs," Bunnie suggests.

"That must be it, after all, Uncle Butt-nik was the brains and the brawn behind all this," Sonic holds up his arms. "You probably never have an original idea in her head, all your life." He crosses his arms. "After all, you would've invented a way to grow some new hair."

"That's enough, you babbling hedgehog," Snively shouts. "I'm the real brains behind this entire operation, Uncle Julian just got lucky and relies on my genius. After all, look at yourself and your friends. I captured you, in an inescapable trap!" He looks at Bunnie. "And I captured you!" He then looks ahead. "And I captured…" He sees nobody. "Wait, where's the Princess?"

Suddenly Sally jumps onto the mech suit's back, with it straightening up.

"Hey! What are you… get off!" Snively yells, pulling the levers back and forth, with the mech suit's arms trying to reach its back.

Sally presses two fingers on the mech suit's back, with a small panel flips up, revealing a red button. Sally then presses the button.

"Hey! Stop! No! No!" Snively complains, as the mech suit falls to its knees, its arms go limp and the window flips open, with Snively falling out.

"Mmhm, you said this bubble is nigh indestructible," Sonic says, as he stabs the bubble with his quill, until it finally pops and Sonic lands on his feet. "That's more like it."

Sonic speeds ahead, then speeds around Bunnie, repeatedly, drying out the adhesive substance, before Sonic speeds past.

Bunnie then uses her roboticized arm to punch away the dried adhesive substance, breaking it away, "Ah good, this is one girl who isn't ready to get tied down, just yet."

Snively starts to push himself up, rubbing the top of his head, as Sonic stands in front of him.

"So how does it feel?" Sonic asks, causing Snively to look up at him. "Ro-butt-nik at least managed to last years. But you barely lasted a day."

"Fool, I will reign over all of Mobius, even ruling sections of the planet that Robotnik never touched," Snively starts. "We. Are. Untouchable."

"You might want to calm down a bit," Sonic brushes away some of Snively's hair. "Don't want to lose the few pieces of hair you had left."

"Hold on, Sonic," Sally says, slightly pushing Sonic back, as she stands between the two. "Snively, what did you mean by 'we'?"

"He was referring to him, and me," a figure in the shadows says, drawing everyone's attention, as he steps out of the shadows, revealing himself as Naugus, as parts of his lower body are crystallized.

"Naugus?!" Sally walks past Snively, with Sonic and Bunnie joining her. "But, but you're trapped inside the Void. With my father."

"I was trapped in the Void…"

Naugus stands in the Void, turns around, watching as a large explosion rips through empty space, leaving behind a large tear in the air.

"Until a massive explosion of energy tears a hold within the Void itself."

Naugus reaches out a hand to the large tear, "I was drawn to the energy. I could sense its immense power. But before I knew it…"

Naugus' hand comes close to the tear, before he is pulled through the tear with a scream and lands in the ruins of a destroyed building.

"I found myself in Robotropolis," Naugus looks around, with the tear closing. "I was free."

"After that, I partnered up with Snively to rule over my former student's kingdom," Naugus says, as Snively stands next to him.

"Co-rule," Snively adds.

"Second fiddle like always," Sonic jokes, before eyeing Naugus' partial crystalized state. "What about you? Or have you forgotten, the larger you're outside the Void the more you become a planter."

"I will overcome this ailment this time," Naugus tells him.

"Yeah, not gonna happen," Sonic says, before he speeds ahead.

Naugus holds out a hand, as Sonic becomes surrounded with energy, stopping him in his tracks, before he is launched backward.

Bunnie uses her roboticized arm to lift up the lifeless mech suit, "Let's see how Snively's overalls do."

Bunnie throws the mech suit at Naugus, who uses more magic energy to catch it, before the energy crosses the mech suit.

Snively sighs, "Back to the drawing board."

Sonic starts to get up, with Sally next to him, "Sonic, even in his current state, Naugus might be too powerful for us."

"Sal, did you bring the Deep Power Stones?" Sonic asks.

"Ah!" Bunnie yells, as she is surrounded with energy, before getting thrown back.

"This little game is growing tiresome and too much of a distraction," Naugus says.

"Then consider this game over, Nut-gus," Sonic says, as he and Sally each hold up their respective halves of the Deep Power Stones, inches away from putting them together.

Before the Deep Power Stones could connect, they stop, as energy flies out of the stones and towards Naugus.

"What?" Sally asks, as she and Sonic turns to Naugus.

"These were the energies that tore a hole in the Void and drew me out," Naugus says, as the energies fly into him. "Yes! This is the power I require!"

The Deep Power Stones fly out of Sonic and Sally's hands, as energy continues to fly out of them, and Sally calls out, "No!'

"Yes! Yes!" Naugus calls out, as a wave of energy shoots out of him.

The two Deep Power Stones fall onto the ground, crumbling into dust.

Naugus surges with energy, as the crystallized parts of his body vanish, returning him to normal.

Bunnie returns to her feet, joining Sonic and Sally, as they continue to watch on.

"I am finally free from the Void!" Naugus calls out, victorious. "And now nothing will be able to stop me!"

Sonic, Sally, and Bunnie continue to watch, as Naugus laughs manically.
