A/N
I know I've been writing a lot of Sonic stuff because of Sonic 3 and Shadow of course. So in this story, Shadow is with Sonic and the Wachowskis but will be learning thing's especially about friendship since to him, Maria was his only friend but he'll learn that he can have more than just one friend
I hope you enjoy as this was randomness.
"Shadow you're okay, I thought you were…". Shadow heard Sonic say. "I'm the ultimate life form Sonic, I can't die. Sorry I freaked you-" Shadow told him as Sonic hugved him making Shadow get it as he'd stopped the Space Co,only Ark from crashing into Earth but Shadow's words comforted him. "Maria would be proud, buddy you know that." Sonic told him seeing Shadow nod.
"She'd be happy I have somebody helping me you know. Tom and Maddie along with that knucklehead, Knuckles and Tails are probably wondering where you are." Shadow told him putting his inhibitor rings back on but saw Sonic grab his habd before he disappeared making Shadow sigh. He knew that Tom and Maddie would be wary of him if Sonic brought him home only he knew Maria wouldn't want him to be alone surrendering following him making Tom and Maddie surprised understanding after Sonic explained
"You've got a pount but we're keeping an eye on him. We took the Glock from him but he surrendered it when we asked." Maddie said making Sonic nod. "He's working on things like friendship guys." Sonic said to them.
"That's good, and guess Maria is the reason." Tom said to Maddie
Shadow was in the kitchen making himself coffee which surprised Tom and Maddie were surprised by, as Sonic explained that Shadow drank coffee knowing Sonic wasn't allowed to have coffee because he'd bounce off the walls amusing Shadow at the mental image of that happening laughing making them stunned as they'd never heard him laugh like this.
"What's making you laugh like this." Sonic asked him. "You, bouncing off the walls because of you having coffee." Shadow told him.
"Ohhhhh that makes sense. That would be funny." Sonic told him yawning.
It'd been a long day for them, and they needed rest to recharge plus Shadow was crashing on the couch, as Knuckles, Sonic and Tails went upstairs to their room and Sonic hoped the black-brown male hedgehog would get sleep hoping Maria would heko him with this.
"You think this is a good idea, him staying here." Sonic heard Knuckles ask.
"Yes Knuckles as Shads is just misunderstood. He needs friends besides Maria." Sonic told him.
"You're a good kid you know that. Shadow needs you to help him." Tom said.
That next morning, Shadow began to stir from dreams of him with Maria plus she'd came to him in his dream, telling him she was proud of him along with that somebody like Sonic was taking care of him for her so was stretching walking into the kitchen yawning relieving Sonic along with Tom and Maddie noticing a certain ultimate life-form was making himself coffee which made Tom and Maddie curious. "You drink a lot of coffee which you should be careful with." Tom said as Shadow sighed.
"I know how bad too much coffee is. Gerald told me about it, when I started drinking coffee on the Ark. No I don't use that Austrian goat milk Robotnik's crazy about. He drinks way too much lattes, so I know about that." Shadow said making Sonic get it along with Tom only Maddie noticed that Shadow had slept on the couch near the lavender realising that had helped him sleep making her and Tom exchange a look. "He probably feels awkward you know. Maybe he thinks you have to earn being in a family which is wrong." Sonic told them making Tails agree but Knuckles not so sure.
"I'm going training in the woods." he said leaving.
"Alright but calm down when you get back. Maddie doesn't like it when you're in warrior mode." Sonic said.
Shadow was exploring the house, as it wasn't the Ark but it felt safe, cosy wondering if this was where Maria wanted him to live holding onto the pot of lavender from the living room which Maddie noticed. She guessed he was just getting used to things after everything that had happened as Sonic had told her about Maria so that way, she and Tom could understand him better, maybe help him like they'd helped him. "You alright, it's okay, we're cool, you really like lavender." she said to him.
"Y-YesI. I do. It helps calm me." Shadow mumbled which she could hear.
"That's good. You're safe here as we're not gonna hurt you. Or turn you over to GUN." she said.
"Thanks. I see where Sonic gets it from." Shadow told her softly knowing what he meant noticing he had his inhibitor rings on guessing he was working on his self-restraint seeing him surprised there was a chess set. "Maria and I would play chess a lot after Gerald taught m3 to play." Shadow explained which impressed her including the fact he loved books knowing Sonic and Tails mainly read comics which counted making Shadow get that.
"Maria, maybe this is a good place to be, even if it's not the Ark or with you." Shadow said softly to himself.
She then saw Sonic with baseball gear guessing he'd done homework with minimal help from Tails this time knowing his teacher had told her and Tom, he handed in homework which he didn't understand so they'd asked Tails to only help Sonic with homework, if he needed it. "Yeah I finished without help this time." Sonic said leaving making Shadow confused by that exchange as Maddie explained to him.
She went up there to check and Shadow had teleported himself in there impressed by the room including the tyre swing lost in thought as Maddie was checking, surprised that Sonic had done homework by himself seeing Shadow on the ture swing just swinging gently which Maddie got hearing the front door open as Knuckles was home. "What's he doing in here, probably planning something." Shadow heard Knuckles say sighing knowing whatever he'd say, Knuckles wouldn't believe him getting off the swing leaving going downstairs just as Sonic got back noticing the look on Shadow's face.
"Sonic, he was in our room on the swing. He might've put something in our room." Knuckles said.
"Whoa, Knuckles that's not what Maddie told me. She went to check on something, and Shads was just curious then was swinging on the swing for a bit but then you freaked him out." Sonic explained seeing Shadow surprised by this that Sonic was defending him which was surprising. "Yeah Knuckles he's going through a lot." Tails said.
"Alright but I'm watching him." Knuckles said to them going to get ready for bowling with Wade which would take his mind off things putting on his bowling team shirt seeing Wade outside on his bike which impressed Shadow since he had the Dark Rider seeing them leave which a sonic noticed knowing Knuckles wasn't giving Shadow a chance
"Don't worry about that knucklehead. Bowling normally calms him down." Sonic said making Shadow smile.
"Thank you for defending me against that knucklehead. But why did you do it." Shadow replied to them.
They were sitting on the roof looking out over the neighbourhood which was inspiring to Shadow but stunned hearing Sonic call him a friend confused. "Friendship is a Win-Win, you'll see." Sonic told him noticing some of Knuckles's warrior stuff up here including the iron throne Knuckles had made out of Maddie's old car astounding Shadow guessing Knuckles took this warrior stuff seriously. "I'm sorry if I invaded privacy you know when Knuckles found me in your room. I wasn't doing anything, just swinging on the tyre swing." Shadow said.
"It's cool you didn't. You were having fun like I do on it. Knuckles just needs more time compared to us." Sonic said making Shadow relieved. Plus he wanted to make Shadow a cave or room of his own which he'd have to talk to Tom and Maddie about that. He heard them calling them for dinner but washing up as they sat at the table seeing Knuckles and Tails join them astounded Shadow was there.
"I've never had pizza before actually. We always wanted to try it." Shadow told them.
"It's gonna blow your mind, trust me Shads." Sonic told him. Shadow's eyes widened as he was eating as he was enjoying it stunning Sonic alomg with Tom and Maddie guessing he'd never had it seeing him smirk seeing guac making Sonic facepalm at this. "Relax Sonic, I'm okay." Shadow said dipping pizza into theguac amusing them.
