Thanks for following this crazy journey. We have an action packed chapter with some relationship development. Special thanks to Golden for always reading my stories. Also, thank you to Vale for commenting. I'm glad you like the Edward/Winry interactions and I hope I can keep them in character.

The next day, Edward woke up and his sword was glowing. He unsheathed it and there was glowing red lettering on it that read "Salamander Guild."

"So this is what it looks like when I'm summoned," Edward said.

Alphonse looked over at him, sleep still in his eyes. He yawned "What's wrong, brother?"

"Not sure. I'm being summoned to the guild hall. I should probably head there soon."

Alphonse asked "Should we come with you?"

"Sure. I don't see what harm it could do," Edward said as he was getting dressed.

Eventually everyone was dressed and followed Edward to the Salamander Guild hall. They walked in and the guild hall was full of people. Edward went to the desk and told them he was there because he was summoned. They took his name down on parchment and informed him that an announcement would be made soon.

Edward heard his name being called. He waved at Vince and the Amestrians made their way over to him. Vince had a few other people in his party, whom were all men, which didn't surprise Edward. Vince introduced them to a halfling cleric, a dwarf hunter, and a half orc paladin. The half orc had green skin and was quite tall. He had on full armor and a large sword. He seemed intimidating with his tusks and he didn't smile once.

Winry also saw Seraphina with a few other women. A human woman with blue hair and another woman with dark hair and tanned skin who held a battle axe. Kira (the red-haired Druid) was also there, and she waved at Alphonse playfully.

A male elf in blue robes walked onto the stage that was normally for entertainment. He held a staff and he thrusted it into the floor. It made a thud and the ball on the topped glowed with a fierce light which faded quickly. The people stopped speaking and turned their attention to the elf.

"You all have been summoned for a new mission. The road leading out of Easthaven has been infested by goblins. These goblins have become more than a nuisance. They have killed travelers, traders, and even some farmers that live near the forest. This has delayed trade, and the capital is willing to pay for their extermination."

There was an air of excitement, and people were happy at the prospect of being paid to kill something so small.

However, Riza and the Amestrians seethed. They had seen first hand what goblins were doing and had attempted to kidnap poor Winry to have sex with. Edward was grateful that she had swung her hammer and killed that goblin. He didn't like killing but when these creatures had tried to take Winry, he felt his blood boil. He wondered if the elf knew about that part but didn't want to tell everyone here or maybe the capital didn't know. Either way, he was fine with taking down some goblins.

They were told that each goblin slain would be worth four silver pieces each and the excitement in the room increased exponentially. That much silver for each goblin was unheard of.

Goblins are nocturnal so the plan was to attack them in the late morning after they are asleep. The attack would take place the next day so everyone would have to prepare tonight. Different parties were told where to meet. Edward cringed when his party was called. Mustang was their captain (which Edward hated) and he had named them "Team Mustang". Edward wanted the name to have dragons in it at least! It was so boring.

When their party was called, they were informed they would work with Seraphina's party. Winry went to her teacher and told her "I'm so glad we'll be working together."

Edward heard her and almost had a heart attack. "Winry, you can't go tomorrow!"

Winry put her hands on her hips. "And why not? Ms. Hawkeye's going. And so is Seraphina."

Seraphina didn't want to get involved and slowly walked away with her friends.

"But it'll be dangerous. You should stay at the inn," Edward told her.

"I'm not staying at the inn! I'm going with you. You need me out there in case you get hurt!" Winry argued.

Edward scowled at her and she returned his scowl with her own.

Winry growled "I have been training with you and Seraphina. I can do this! I'm not staying behind this time!"

Alphonse put his hand on his brother's arm. "Brother, I'll make sure she's safe."

"Al, you're supposed to be on my side!" Edward shouted.

Edward growled at Winry. "Fine, but stay behind me. Don't get close to them."

Winry nodded, happy that she had won the argument. "I will. I promise!"

She kissed him on the cheek and hurried off to Seraphina and her group to let them know she would be with them.

Edward stood there in shock. She had kissed him! He rubbed his cheek in disbelief.

Roy began to chuckle, and Edward realized everyone had seen the act of affection occur. His face reddened and he yelled at them asking what they were laughing at. He stomped off with the excuse that he needed fresh air with Roy and Alphonse laughing behind him.

The next morning, all of the forces met at the Salamander Guild Hall. They all traveled together in carts pulled by horses toward the forest, and once at the forest edge, they all traveled on foot and they split into their assigned groups. Seraphina and Mustang's parties would take on the North entrance of the Goblins' dungeon while Vince's party would take the East entrance with another group.

Seraphina guided them to the North entrance with the map given to her at the guild hall. It was in the woods not to far from the edge of the forest. Roy whispered to Riza "This is actually not too far from where we were ambushed by them."

Riza grunted an affirmation. They found the entrance and approached very quietly. There were two goblins guarding the entrance. One of them yawned as they both huddled in the shade of the cave.

Seraphina whispered "Goblins are nocturnal, which is why we are attacking in the day. Hopefully, we can get in without one of them alarming the other. What is your name again, archer?"

Riza whispered her name. Seraphina said "I need you to shoot one. And my friend, Komi, will lunge her spear at the other. I'm hoping we can take them out at the same time."

Riza notched at an arrow. "I'll take the one on the right."

Komi was muscular and had dark hair and tanned skin. She raised her spear and aimed at the goblin on the left.

Seraphina counted down and told them to shoot. Riza released her arrow and it hit the goblin in the head, killing it instantly.

Komi threw her spear and it pierced the goblin in the chest. It yelped and sank to the ground. They waited a few minutes, hearing nothing from inside the cave.

Seraphina congratulated the women on their excellent aim. "We can proceed inside, and take advantage of our sneak attack. Let's go quietly."

Seraphina lit her lantern for those that could not see well in the dark. They went inside the cave that smelled musty with a hit of decay. Alphonse's nose crinkled at the disgusting scent, and he almost wished he had his armor body again just to avoid the smell.

The cave forked into two directions. Seraphina and Mustang decided to split, each party taking a different route. Seraphina took her lantern, but Roy had brought torches. He used a fire spell, and the flame sparked on the torch. He was in the rear of the party as they walked down the cave. Edward and Riza took the lead since they could see better in the dark with their elvish eyes. Winry followed right behind Edward just as she promised.

They came to an open room where goblins were sleeping all except one. It was sitting up high on a rock with a few others. Riza stepped closer to the opening and her foot pulled a string on the floor. Suddenly, a bell rang and th room became alive. The goblins grabbed their weapons and aimed at the group.

"There goes the sneak attack!" Roy yelled. Riza felt guilty she had set off a trap.

The one that was awake held up a crossbow and shot an arrow at Riza. It nearly missed her and hit the wall next to her. She notched an arrow and shot the goblin in the head. It immediately fell to the ground.

A goblin next to the recently slain shot an arrow at Edward and missed also. Edward yelled "At least they can't aim worth a damn!"

Edward clapped his hands together and slapped them on the ground. There were at least twenty goblins in the room and most were on the ground level. He said the words for the spell and the ground beneath several goblins became slick with grease. Several of them fell to the ground sliding on the floor as they tried to stand and fail.

Roy and Alphonse had difficulty seeing what battle was taking place in front of the them because they were blocked from the cave entrance by Riza and Edward. Then Roy heard a gutteral yell behind him. He turned around and saw a goblin coming towards him with a scimitar. The goblin swung but Roy dodged out of the way.

"They're behind us!" Roy yelled as he saw more goblins approaching. He pulled out the red orb with salamander in it and casted an acid spell that killed two goblins.

Alphonse turned and an arrow whistled next to his head. He threw his hands to ground and made thorny vines come out and pierce the goblin in the shoulder. The goblin raised his scimitar and cut the vine. It then moved forward and swung at Alphonse cutting his arm.

Alphonse shouted. He had forgotten how pain had felt in a fight.

Meanwhile, Edward moved further into the room. Winry came up beside him. She wanted to cast her spells to help her team move forward. Seraphina had reminded her that she was more than just a healer. Winry casted a guiding bolt but she missed the goblin. "Damn it. It's not as easy as I thought."

Then a goblin on top of the rock shot an arrow and hit Winry in the leg. She yelped.

"I told you to stay behind me!" Edward yelled at her as he stepped in front of her.

"I'll be fine. I can heal myself," Winry removed the arrow and used her book of prayers to heal her small wound.

A goblin with a scimitar ran towards Riza. She dropped the bow and pulled out her short swords. She dodged his swing and she sliced into his back, certain she hit the kidney. The goblin fell and blood poured out of the mortal wound.

In the cave, Alphonse and Roy were fighting off the rear attack. Alphonse was just cut on his arm. Roy heard his shout and used fire to scorch the goblin and a few of his comrades. They screamed as they burned in Roy's fire.

But there were still more coming. Despite his wound, Alphonse slapped his hands on the ground and made plants with spikes on them grow from the ground. They shredded the goblins' legs as the goblins tried to walk through them.

At the front, goblins began escaping the grease and ran towards Edward. Winry watched as he clapped his hands together and blue lights came from his hands. He pushed his hands out in front of him and three bolts of blue light were thrown from his hands. The bolts of electricity hit the goblins and killed two of them instantly. It missed a goblin, and he continued running forward with a scimitar ready to strike Edward.

Winry held her book up and snuck beside Edward. She casted her own bolt of lightning and killed the goblin. Edward looked at her in awe that she could do such a thing. Her training with Seraphina had paid off. "Whoa. I hadn't seen that one before."

"I'm full of surprises," Winry said.

Edward smirked but it didn't last for long. The archer on top of the rock had released another arrow and it hit him in the arm. "FUCK! That damn bastard!"

Winry held her book up and raised her hand. A bolt of lightning was released and she hit the archer, killing it.

Riza went after the next goblin with her short swords. She wasn't used to this kind of battle. She was used to hiding in the shadows and taking sneaky shots that the enemy didn't know was coming. However, there was an adrenaline rush that she felt as she ran with her swords. She yelled as she raised the sword and swung at the goblins rushing towards her. There weren't many left in this room though. She had to keep going in case she needed to help Roy, who she had heard say there were more behind them.

Roy saw the last remaining goblins stuck in Alphonse's spikes. They were trying to free themselves but the spikes would go deeper into their flesh. He casted a flaming sphere onto the spiked plants which set them ablaze. The goblins could not escape and burned into ash with the spiked plants.

Once Roy saw the goblins behind them were all extinguished, he looked at Alphonse. "How bad is your wound?"

Alphonse shook his head. "I'll be fine."

Roy demanded "Let me see it."

Alphonse showed his arm. A trail of blood stained his shirt. Alphonse lifted the shirt and Roy could see it wasn't deep.

Alphonse insisted "I can still fight."

Roy heard the commotion from the room. "Alright, let's go."

They went into the room to join their comrades. Riza shouted as she stabbed another goblin through and pulled her sword out. She turned her head from side to side. The noise had quieted as there were no more goblins in the room.

Edward and the others also glanced back and forth. Their adrenaline was flowing through their veins and finally Edward breathed a sigh of relief, despite the arrow still in his arm.

"The one place you don't have armor," Winry said. "I'll pull it out. Hold still."

"It was a lucky shot," Edward said as he turned so she could pull out the arrow. She pulled it quickly, and he grunted in pain.

Winry put pressure on the wound until she pulled her book out. She prayed and a warm glowing light appeared under her hand. Edward felt the heat from her healing spell. It didn't burn but felt odd as the muscles fibers knitted back together, and then she pulled her hand away. There was still blood on his shirt but he could tell the wound was gone.

Winry asked "Is anyone else hurt?"

"I am but I can take care of it," Alphonse said. He healed himself quietly.

Edward laughed. "Looks like we have matching shirts."

Alphonse didn't laugh. "It's not a good thing that we both have blood on our shirts."

Roy interrupted them. "We need to keep moving. I don't want us in here any longer than we need to be."

Edward and Riza went up front again. They were sure that other goblins were aware of their presence at this point. It was not a quiet fight whatsoever. They followed the dark tunnel with Roy's torch lighting the way in front of them just barely. Their shadows on the walls and floor were eerie as they walked.

Then the tunnel made a bend, and Riza went to the front to scout first since she could see better with her elvish eyes. She snuck to the entrance of a large room. There were many goblins awake, armed with scimitars and short bows. There was a short fat round one sitting on a throne with a goblin standing guard on each side. She couldn't see the whole room but she could see there were many goblins in there. And if the large one was their leader, then it would have many guards.

Riza crept back and made hand signals to the group. Winry and Alphonse didn't quite understand. Roy whispered to them. "There are many in there. Riza will catch them off guard."

Edward unsheathed his sword and Alphonse held his cat totem, thinking of his own attack strategy. Winry held out her book of prayers. Roy drew his salamander orb.

Riza took her bow and strung an arrow. She then crept quietly to the front and raised her bow. She found her target, which was a goblin holding a bow. She released the arrow and it flew with such strength that it went through her target's neck and struck the one behind it. They both fell to the floor instantly.

The goblins turned to them, and the one on the throne spoke but Riza and the Amestrians could understand it! "Intruders! Get them!"

Arrows were nocked and shot at Riza but they missed her as she dodged back to notch another arrow. Several ran toward them unsheathing their scimitars.

Then an arrow came in and hit Riza in the thigh. She seethed in pain. Winry came and pulled the arrow out. Riza held pressure on her wound as Winry recited a healing spell. Just a scratch remained though the blood still stained her pants.

Roy saw her injury and the anger boiled inside him. He dashed into the room shielding Riza behind him and casted a large fireball. A goblin managed to dodge the fireball but four others were turned into smoking ashes. There were about ten left plus the big one on the throne.

Edward ran into the room with his sword in hand. A goblin with a scimitar rushed towards him and Edward kneeled and threw his other hand. He pushed the earth and molded it into a hand and punched the goblin. Edward then stood up and rushed toward the goblin. He pierced his sword through the goblins' chest, killing it.

Edward looked at the fat goblin on the throne and couldn't believe his eyes. He looked the same but with green skin. "GLUTTONY?!"

Gluttony studied Edward. "It's the Fullmetal pipsqueak! You're here, too?!"

Edward shouted, "I'm not a pipsqueak anymore!"

An arrow came close to Edward's head, and Edward realized he needed to focus on the fight. There were so many goblins in the room. He saw another one running towards him with a scimitar raised, and Gluttony stood from his throne.

Roy shouted "You know this creature, Fullmetal?"

Edward met the goblin with the scimitar and swept his sword across the goblin's abdomen. A horrid stench came out of the goblin, causing Edward to back away. He yelled "I don't have time to chat, Colonel!"

Then a mountain lion was beside Edward, which startled him. "Al? Fuck, I forgot you could do that!"

The large cat nodded and jumped at another goblin that was racing towards them. He clawed at it but the goblin dodged him. The goblin hit Alphonse in the front leg with his scimitar but only caused a shallow wound. Alphonse backed up and pounced onto the goblin, clawing at it's chest until it moved no more.

Just then the room became hot. A fireball was hurled towards Roy and scorched him. He yelled in pain as the fire burned him. His tough skin seemed to resist the burn though thanks to the draconic scales that he had woken up with. Riza screamed as she saw him engulfed in the flames but was relieved when he stood up though he slouched due to fatigue. The flames had taken a toll on him.

The fireball came from a goblin that wore a mask. It could cast spells also unlike the other goblins.

Gluttony laughed at Roy. "It seems like my shaman has the same powers as you!"

Riza stood up but she couldn't get a clear shot of the shaman. However, she notched an arrow and pulled it back. Her aim was perfect, and the arrow pierced Gluttony in the chest.

"OW! THAT HURT!" Gluttony shouted. He came down from the throne and moved towards Riza. His eyes narrowed at her, angry that she had caused his pain.

Despite the danger, Winry ran out to Roy. She touched him gently on his back and recited the healing spell. The warm yellow light flowed from her hand to him and it refreshed him. He stood up straight. "Thank you Miss Rockbell. Stand behind me."

"Right," Winry said. She glanced at Edward, who was being attacked by a goblin but Edward was clearly winning. He countered the goblin's swing and disarmed the creature. He then cut off the head. Winry still couldn't believe that they were in this situation. Edward didn't want to kill people in Amestris but now he was killing these things. Though they did try to kidnap and rape her so it seemed justified. Apparently they had done it to other women, and Winry felt sad for them.

Winry heard heavy footsteps approach. Roy shouted "Back up Ms. Rockbell!"

Gluttony was trying to get to Riza but Roy would not allow that to happen. He casted an acid spell and the green acid burned Gluttony on his large abdomen. He turned to Roy, who had just caused the freshest wound. Gluttony's large tongue with the tattoo swung out of his mouth and tried to grab Roy but Roy dodged it taking Winry with him.

Winry yipped due to her fright and Edward saw her hiding behind Roy.

"Damn it!" Edward swore. Then he felt an arrow graze his leg causing a shallow cut. "Fuck! I can't catch a break."

Then Edward saw a shadowy hand come from the shaman, heading towards him. He didn't know what it was but he dodged it. The shadow dissipated into the air. Edward had a feeling that the shadow would cause him great harm. "We have to stop the shaman!"

Then another arrow grazed Edward's arm. Edward was pissed and dashed to the one that shot him. He swept the sword across the goblin's abdomen, killing it quickly.

Edwar something odd. A storm cloud had formed over the back half of the room where a few archers and the shaman were. It began to pour sleet from the cloud.

Edward noticed something odd. Winry read from her book behind Roy. She had the power of healing as a cleric but she also power over storms. A mass of grey clouds formed at the ceiling above the throne. He didn't know she could create a rain storm inside a cave but she was doing it.

Edward didn't know if she knew that she was giving him a way to kill the shaman or not but she had. The ground became wet underneath shaman and the archers. He sheathed his sword and clapped his hands out of habit and held them up. A blue lightning bolt formed and he sent it flying to the giant puddle that had formed under the goblins. They shook when the electricity flowed from the puddles to their bodies. They then fell and died from the electrocution.

With only Gluttony remaining, Edward and Alphonse (in mountain lion form) ran over to Gluttony. Riza had shot another arrow at his chest. Then Alphonse pounced on Gluttony but the giant tongue hit Alphonse off and sent him flying across the room.

Edward unsheathed his sword again and slashed at Gluttony's arm. Blood sprayed from the arm and Gluttony screamed in pain. "WHY DOES THIS HURT SO MUCH? WHY CAN'T YOU JUST DIE?"

Gluttony's tongue pushed Edward away, and Roy casted another fireball at Gluttony. The flames were intense and after the they dissipated, Gluttony swayed and then fell to the ground.

Gluttony mumbled, "Why did you have to come here? It was perfect. I was being fed by these goblins. I didn't have to do anything."

Alphonse transformed back into a short halfling. "How did you get here? Did you get involved with Morgana also?"

"Was that the lady in the cloak? She was mean," Gluttony replied.

Edward asked "Did Lust come here too?"

"Yes but we were separated and I can't find her. Where is my Lust?" then Gluttony's body stilled. He was dead.

Roy asked "How do you know him, Fullmetal?"

"He's a homoculus from our world. Apparently they were trying to make a deal with Morgana but maybe things didn't work out. But Lust is here in this world. She's another homoculus."

They heard more voices coming from another corridor. The Amestrian party turned to the corridor, weapons drawn. Vince and his party came into view.

Vince laughed "We thought we heard some familiar voices. We took care of this hall."

Vince saw the large green body of what was once Gluttony. "Shit, did you already slay the leader? Damn. That's a huge tongue."

Winry came up behind Edward and grimaced at the dead creature. Edward said "Yes, this was their leader. His tongue was his weapon."

Vince poked at Gluttony's tongue. "Disgusting. Are you all unscathed?"

Edward looked at his arm, with blood stains on it. One still forming from the most recent arrow. Winry saw his wound. "Why didn't you tell me you were hurt?"

"I didn't have a chance. We just killed this thing!" Edward shouted.

"Just hold still. Roy, Riza, and Alphonse, stand in a circle. This will take a little while but I can heal you all at the same time."

The soft yellow glow from Winry hands filled them with warmth. Though Alphonse and Edward were completely refreshed, Riza and Roy's injuries had been more severe. Their wounds were no longer bleeding but they could still be seen.

Winry sighed. She was exhausted. "I'm sorry. I can't heal you both completely."

Riza shook her head. "It's fine. I feel way better than I did before. Your healing spell still worked. It will take less time to recover than if you hadn't."

Edward said "Let's head back. Winry, you need me to carry anything?"

"No, I'm fine. Just tired."

Alphonse offered. "Why don't you ride on my back?"

He transformed into an elk but Winry declined. "You can take Ms. Hawkeye. She's injured still."

Riza declined also but Roy offered to get on. "My body is sore from the burns. At least Winry was able to mostly heal them."

Alphonse shook his head and pointed his antlers at Roy. He transformed back into a halfling and told Roy "I only let women ride me."

Roy scoffed at Alphonse while everyone laughed. Seraphina's party came into the room, declaring their cave clear.

They all went back into town carrying the shaman's mask, and Gluttony's head and tongue in a bag. Alphonse was disgusted that they had to carry their proof that the goblins were slaughtered but it was how they got paid for the job.

Edward and Roy presented their parts to the Salamander Guild and were paid. People were grateful that the road through the forest would be safe to travel through. Trade could continue with other parts of the country. Even the royal family showed their gratitude by providing fireworks to celebrate.

The Amestrian party ate dinner at the inn and heard from others that the fireworks were about to go off. Winry grabbed the brothers by their arms. "Hurry up! We need to find a good place to watch them from."

Alphonse yelped "You don't have to drag us Winry! We're coming!"

Winry laughed and then she noticed Roy and Riza had not stood up.

Roy said "You three are on your own tonight. The adults are exhausted."

Winry paused, sad that they wouldn't be altogether but understood.

Riza shooed at them. "You three have worked hard. Go have some fun."

Edward pulled on Winry's arm. "Come on. You were the most excited out of us. Let's go before we miss the fireworks."

Winry nodded and followed the brothers out the door. They walked around looking for a place to get a good view. There was a loud boom, and a flash of light. They saw a good spot to view them from on top of a shop.

Winry was in the middle of the brothers, and Edward looked down at the woman. Her eyes were dazzled by the different colors of the fireworks. Her smile spread across her face. He saw the pure joy, and his heart tightened. Seeing her like this made his heart race. She was gorgeous and her joy was infectious.

Alphonse was also enthralled with the fireworks and Edward could see his smile. Alphonse lived without being able to smile for so long that Edward felt like he forgot what it looked like. Now that Alphonse had a body, Edward's attention was no longer on their mission. Instead, his attention was focused on the girl next to him. He realized that the reason he didn't want Vince to ask Winry on a date was because he wanted to be with Winry. Now he had no idea how to go about this.

Edward swore to himself, and his face reddened as he faced forward to watch the fireworks. He knew of one thing he could do. They had already done this but it held a different meaning now. And she had always initiated it before. He reached for her hand with his, and felt her fingers. Then he interlaced his fingers with hers and he felt her fingers clasp around his.

Winry glanced at Edward and saw his face reddened and in response, her face reddened. She had a feeling that them holding hands this time was different than showing friendship. She wondered if he felt the same way about her.

She wasn't sure what to do except keep holding his hand until the show was over. Then she felt him squeeze her hand before releasing it.

Alphonse squealed "That was so amazing! It's been forever since we seen fireworks."

He then noticed that Edward and Winry were quiet and their faces were red. They weren't even looking at each other. There was a sense of awkwardness. "Ok… Did I miss something?"

Winry stuttered "No-Nothing, let's look around. They have a lot of shops around here, and it looks like some are having specials tonight."

Winry saw something and pointed excitedly. "They have candy apples! Let's get some!"

Winry reached for her pouch and realized she forgot it in her room. "I forgot my money! I'll be right back boys."

Winry went back to the inn, racing up the stairs. She took her key out and hoped she wouldn't wake Riza. She quietly opened the door expecting darkness but there was a candle burning, lighting the room just enough. She heard grunting and she looked at Riza's bed. She saw Roy's naked back pushing himself on the bed with a blanket covering his lower half. Underneath him lay Riza moaning and not wearing any clothes.

"Oh my god," Winry said quietly.

Roy threw his head to the side and saw Winry. Riza gasped and tried to cover herself but she was tangled in her Roy's arms.

Winry apologized swiftly slamming the door closed. She breathed heavy, processing what she just saw. They were naked and grunting on the bed. Winry covered her eyes but couldn't unsee what she saw.

'Oh my god, I think they were having sex.'
