The early morning sun casts a golden hue with mixtures of red, pink, and orange over the tranquil landscape of Patch. The serenity was punctuated by the sound of swift footsteps and the distant roar of a bear. Ruby Rose sprinted through the forest, her heart racing with exhilaration. Her beloved weapon, Crescent Rose was compacted in storage mode under her cloak, while her left arm cradled a mason jar of honey. Behind her, a large brown bear gave chase, its growls echoing through the trees.
"Man, I don't have time for this. I gotta get home!"
Reaching a clearing, Ruby skidded to a stop and set the jar down. In one fluid motion, she drew Crescent Rose, transforming it into its scythe form. The bear charged, and Ruby precisely met it, her swings calculated to deter the bear rather than harm it as the focus of her strikes was on defense, ensuring the bear retreated unharmed.
"WHEW Sorry about that brown bear but I need this honey 'cause today's a big day."
Their clash, however, attracted the attention of nearby Grimm. A low vicious mixture of snarls and growls came from the nearby brush and treeline as an Alpha Beowolf emerged with its pack, accompanied by an intimidating Ursa. Recognizing the threat to the bear, Ruby resolved to protect it, her instincts driving her into the fray. The battle was fierce, and Crescent Rose slipped from her grasp in the chaos as an Ursa had smacked it away."
"Hey! Don't hit my baby!"
Ruby shouted at the Ursa without Crescent Rose undeterred Ruby fought on, but she adjusted her stance as she switched up her combat approach fighting off the Ursa with hand-to-hand combat. Her combat style was raw and unrefined, reminiscent of a street brawler and despite the lack of finesse, her punches and kicks were effective, buying her time to retrieve her weapon. As she reclaimed Crescent Rose Ruby heard snarls and growls she turned around and saw the Grimm had swarmed her as they pounced on her. In that moment of desperation, a memory of her parents flooded her mind, a memory filled with warmth and love. Her silver eyes ignited with a brilliant glow, unleashing a flash of silver light that obliterated the Grimm horde disintegrating the two beowolves and turning the Alpha and the Ursa to stone. Ruby got up, dusted herself off, and compacted Crescent Rose back in storage mode under her cloak. She then knocked on the stone grimm.
"Glad I had that in my back pocket. Plus you guys look MUCH cooler as stone statues."
With a content smile, Ruby approached the wounded bear, carefully treating its injuries before observing it slowly make its way back into the forest. With her task accomplished, she triggered her petal burst and quickly headed home. Before she went home Ruby made a pitstop and arrived at a hillside tombstone. She paused, her fingers tracing the engraved words: "In loving Memory of Qrow Branwen. Thus I take to the skies." She whispered, "I'll see you later, Dad," before continuing on her way. After her brief visit to her dad's grave, Ruby made her way to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. As Ruby made her way through the house the atmosphere that was once warm and inviting was replaced with a quiet and cold atmosphere for the most part. Ruby looked seeing Sundered Rose displayed above the fireplace and next to it hung a white cloak, tattered and stained with black blood, a sight that made Ruby sigh with a tinge of sadness. In a nearby bedroom, Summer Rose stirred from her slumber. She stretched and yawned, revealing a black arm sleeve covering her right arm. As she removed it, dark markings etched into her skin were exposed it gave the appearance that her skin was cracking and coming off. The dark markings on her skin pulsed fading into a dark sickly green as Summer started hearing a cacophony of voices.
"More!"
"Need more!"
"Pick it up!"
"Continue your vengeance!"
Summer then hears Qrow's voice among the cacophony making her look up but in the vanity mirror, Qrow stares back at her with his eyes and mouth completely blackened out.
"AVENGE ME!"
Summer slammed her hand down on the wooden part of the vanity taking deep breaths before looking at Qrow's distorted reflection.
"Leave me be. You are NOT my husband."
Qrow's reflection left the mirror as her silver eyes turned to a compartment in her room to the far left of the closet and sitting inside a glass box on display was a handgun. The handgun in question was sleek and dark black in coloration, with many spikes/thorns adorning the sides angled toward the front of the weapon, and even though it hadn't been used in years the barrel was smoking with green smoke. The sight of the gun almost made her want to vomit so with a sigh, she swallowed her disgust, donned a fresh sleeve, and took her medication before dressing for the day. Ruby greeted her with a bright smile.
"Long morning, Ruby?" Summer asked.
"Hey, Mom. Nope, just wanted to do something special for you."
Ruby presented the breakfast she'd prepared, pancakes adorned with honey with sides of bacon, fruit, biscuits, and a glass of juice on the side.
"You make this yourself?" Summer inquired.
"No, I had help from Aunt Raven, Uncle Tai, and cousin Yang," Ruby replied with a grin.
"I see."
Ruby hugged her mother tightly. "Happy birthday, Mom."
"Thanks, little petal. Now, go wake up your little brother so we can eat together."
"Got it, Mom."
As Ruby bounded off to wake her brother, Summer watched her daughter leave a smile on her face happy that her incident years ago hadn't strained their relationship, and before she could think on it any further Ruby reentered the room with her brother Maroon Rose and their dog; an adorable corgi named Zwei. The family sat down together and ate her birthday breakfast enjoying the rest of the day on Patch to come.
A/N: Hey guys! I'm back and this time I'm giving a proper attempt at a RWBY AU and I'm starting the story off with my version of the trailers I'm calling episodes. Unlike the trailers, these episodes are meant to give more meat on the sandwich to show how these characters are different from their canon counterparts. I'm excited about this AU and I look forward to the feedback you guys give me on what's to come. The next episode which will focus on Weiss will be dropping this Saturday so look forward to that. Also at the end of each of these episodes, I'll be dropping some info about a character or how these characters are different. So here's MY version/take on Summer's semblance.
Summers semblance: Bloody Evolution. She has to name what she wants the semblance to do and then must say out loud the properties she wants the semblance to have. Once the semblance has been called and its properties given she then has the semblance for however long she can maintain her aura or if she passes her damage threshold. Bloody evolution ends if she runs out of aura or passes her damage threshold. The evolution of her semblance is similar to All for One where she can call upon past semblances in her repository and use them and modify them. Also if she touches someone bloody evolution will give her a rough blueprint of their semblance. The longer Summer touches someone the more detailed the blueprint of the person's semblance is.
