Chapter One: The First World

I tried to look around, but I could not as I was floating in a blank void devoid of light so that I could not even see my hand before my face. The last thing I remember was watching the moon block out the sun in a total solar eclipse with my buddies at the Indianapolis Speedway. Now I was floating here in this pitch-black void with not able to see or hear anything. I feared that this would probably not end well for me as I was defenseless along with being helpless. I had no idea how long I spent floating in the void before I heard a digitized voice inside my head.

{Welcome Jumper, you have been randomly selected to go on an automated journey through the multiverse. Unfortunately you will have no oversight so there is nothing you can bargain about your journey, but you shall have access to the milestone system in order to gain the perks other jumpers get from their patrons.}

I just knew I was going to have to suffer as there was no way out of this mess for a normal guy like me. With that in mind I just waited for my fate as there was nothing I could do to fight off the inevitable since I was stuck going through this Jumpchain since I had no way to escape. That was when the message continued to play in my mind as I floated in the void.

{The system appreciates your service in this process and shall try to make this as painless as possible. The first world you shall be traveling to is not where most people start out as we refuse to send you into the world of Pokémon as it is overdone. You are going to be heading to the world of Big Trouble in Little China as it is a fairly safe start if you don't do anything too outlandish.}

With that statement give I saw a screen appear before me in the void. I then had to select my starting age and location after reading through the introduction. I eventually decided to start out as twenty-one year old in the truck with Jack Burton as I have a plan for my background as a trainee truck driver under his tutelage. Due to my plan I had to select the Outsider as my background for this Jump.

[Outsider: Odds are, you don't really know what is going on. But that doesn't mean you are going to back down from anything or anyone. You might be helping out a friend or trying to collect some money owed to you, but weird shit just keeps happening.]

With my background selected I moved on into the perks section with my thousand allotted points. I quickly picked up Expert On China followed by Eyes of Creamy Jade for a total of two hundred fifty points giving me knowledge of China and its language while preparing me for my future worlds. Then I proceeded to spend six hundred points on all of my discounted perks for my origin. With the for perks I would never be stopped by fear or go insane from the trauma of my future travels while being able to drive any vehicle with insane reflexes.

[Expert On China (50cp): As the name says, you are an expert. You have doctorate levels of knowledge of the history, culture, folklore, music, dance, art, technology and literature of China. You are fully fluent in all variations and dialects of Chinese and can cook any style of Chinese food with as much skill as a world-class chef. Optional Chinese Ancestry included.

Eyes of Creamy Jade (200cp): You are the perfect subject of any form of magical ritual, whether as the recipient, component or sacrifice, no matter what the required criteria might be. You are also a perfect fit for any magical item or power that normally restricts its users.

Showed Great Courage (100cp, Free for Outsider): You might get a little freaked out sometimes, but you never let that stop you from helping out a friend or doing what you have to. Though you still feel fear like normal, you have the capacity to overcome that fear, no matter how great it may be.

Six Point Nine On The Richter Scale (200cp, Discounted for Outsider): Damn, but you can drive. You are an expert at operating every form of ground vehicle that you encounter. You are especially skilled at what can be considered "offensive driving".

Of Course You've Plugged Somebody Before (400cp, Discounted for Outsider): Well, maybe not. But it doesn't matter, you will not suffer any form of mental trauma from having to kill a person. Or from anything else for that matter. Your entire worldview could be turned upside down, and you would adapt in no time at all. Maybe it is because you are the cockiest SOB to ever walk the Earth, maybe not, but either way, you are immune to any form of insanity, trauma, PTSD or anything else that would negatively affect your level of sanity.

It's All In The Reflexes (600cp, Discounted for Outsider): Whether reacting to a bottle, a knife, or a nine foot tall maniac, your reaction time is extremely fast. In fact, while your physical movement speed is only slightly above peak human, your mental reaction speed is damn near instantaneous.]

With a hundred fifty points remaining I moved into the next section of items. I quickly spent the spare fifty points on time giving me a returning grand plus each day. Then I grabbed The Most Powerful Handgun in the World for two hundred points as it was the perfect handheld ranged weapon no mater what setting I end up going to. The purchase of my new favorite ranged weapon put me a hundred points into the hole so I would need to take a drawback in order to complete the document.

[Time (50cp): Time is money to a guy like you. So, now you have one thousand, one hundred and forty-eight dollars, cash. In fact, if you spend part or all of this money, it will replenish in 24 hours.

Good Knife (100cp, Free for Outsider): This is a damn good knife. It is razor sharp, cannot be broken or dulled, and you can always pull it out of the nearest convenient space whenever you need it. Plus, it is perfectly balanced, whether you intend to throw it or use it up close and personal.

Most Powerful Handgun In The World (400cp, Discounted for Outsider): You have a .357 Magnum Revolver, to make you feel just like Dirty Harry. This weapon never needs cleaning or repair, never runs out of bullets, and for some reason, the recoil is not a problem for you at all. Also, this really is the most powerful handgun in the world and not just by a little bit. The gun will be enhanced to be a full order of magnitude more powerful than the next most powerful weapon that can be considered a handgun or similar sidearm.]

I looked over the list of drawbacks and was less than impressed with the hundred point drawbacks. I could overestimate my abilities all the time, be overly emotional, not be able to stop my mouth from running, always smelling like I was a wasteful drunk, or be a man slut for anyone who was not smelling like a wasteful drunk. While pondering that I grabbed the Time is Money drawback to be able to move on from this place quicker than a decade. After a bit of debate I eventually decided on smelling like a drunk for the duration of this Jump.

[Time Is Money (+0cp): So, let's not waste it. Your time in this world is now limited, starting when Jack Burton arrives in Chinatown and ending when the victory party breaks up. In exchange for this, you are required to be involved in the plot. You don't have to kill Lo-Pan yourself (or kill Egg Shen if you like the villain side of things), but rest assured, it is not happening without your help and the Jump doesn't end until things are resolved.

It's Miller Time (+100cp): For some reason, you always smell like you just spent an entire night sitting at a table with a bunch of Chinese guys, gambling and drinking.]

After my selection were made I felt something tug me from behind my navel and I was flung out of the Void. I soon found myself waking up to the sound of someone spitting advice over a CB radio while munching on a sub with rain pouring down on top of the truck that I was riding in.
