Chapter Three: Crashing the Wedding

Big Trouble in Little China Part 3

We brought the girls back to Wang's restaurant where we took a few minutes to catch our breaths. Egg had left after dropping us off saying he needed to gather some help for the task ahead. I just dropped into one of the booths not really caring at the moment as I knew that with my stench I would not be able to get any love here in this world. It was not long before Egg came back with a group of Chang Sing soldiers and declared that he would lead us in our renewed assault on the Wing Kong Exchange with his sorcery to aid us. I made certain I still had my hand cannon on me as Jack refused his own version along with my knife. Jack convinced Margret to stay behind along with Eddie meaning that Egg would only be leading the Chang Sings, Wang, Jack, and myself into the battle to come.

It was raining as we made our way to Egg's apothecary which allowed for some impressive snipping between Wang and Egg about the need of an umbrella. I chuckled at Egg's quips but did not get involved in the argument myself as I knew that I could not hold my own against them yet. Once we were in the apothecary Jack complained about the lack of visible wealth while Wang defended Egg claiming he was a very wealthy man and all the strange items in the building were valuable to certain types of people. Once Egg had collected all of his supplies he motioned for a pair of the Chang Sings to open the hole down into the paths beneath the surface of the earth.

I jumped down into the hole without questioning it even as Jack continued to ask questions of Egg and Wang. I was the first one that was not a Chang Sing down into the tunnels but having no clue which way to go I stepped away from the fire pole and wait for Egg to come down and guide our infiltration group. As we walked along the path beside the Black Blood of the Earth I kept my eyes up while the others watched below. This allowed me to react and shoot the monster that tried to come out while the others focused on the bubbling liquid below. My shot sent it back into its hole quicker than it happened in the movie allowing the Chang Sing member at the back of the group to survive. Egg tossed the sorcery balls causing a flash of light before declaring that the monster would come out no more.

We had no more interruptions as we made our way through the tunnels beneath the earth. Jack had faded to the back of the group as we moved through the tunnels and sounded worried as he called out to us before he came down the last tunnel into the storage room of the Wing Kong Exchange. We all just yelled at him to hurry up and get his butt down here. I had to resist the urge to laugh as Jack landed in the pile of fish before being offered one by one of the Chang Sing members. Jack continued to question Egg as we moved through the Wing Kong Exchange even though we needed to be stealthy as he could not wrap his mind around the Chinese Black Magic that Lo Pan represented. My out of world knowledge let me be more open to and accepting of the idea of magic being real in this world.

As we made our way through the bowels of the Wing Kong Exchange I kept my head on a swivel and ears open for anyone approaching us. I did not shoot when I saw any enemies because my handgun would make too much noise. Our group continued to try to make our way through the hallways as the Wing Kong were gathering for the upcoming wedding. I kept myself in the middle of the group to avoid getting lost or separated from the group as I was not trained to fight a gang. I avoided gaining any extra attention as I moved with the group through the Wing Kong Exchange especially when we were confronted by the guardian that Lo Pan used to look at us through its many eyes.

I kept my mouth shut even as Jack started asking questions of Egg Shen and saying he thought so to the answers that Egg was giving. Once we made it into David Lo Pan's office it did not take long for Jack and Wang to find the hidden elevator. Before we took the elevator Egg called us to drink the magic potion that he called medicine. Jack of course asked what it would do as he seemed to be worried about drinking the smoking fluid. Egg explained that the drink would give a good buzz before explaining that it will allow us to see things no one else could see and do things no one else can do. Wang showed his patriotic side by declaring the shot to the Army and Navy for the battles they have won along with the colors of America that would never run. I took the drink without hesitation knowing that it would be needed for the battle to come.

I felt the buzz almost instantly as the warmth spread through my body quickly. We all quickly gathered into the elevator and used the single button to head down to the wedding ceremony. I kept to the back as we rode the elevator and the temperature rose while we descended lower into the earth. I made a quick check of my weapons making sure that I had my 357 in hand along with my knife. The ride down was not too long, and we poured out of the elevator to see the wedding ceremony had already started but Lo Pan had not married either of the green-eyed women yet. It was not a moment later that I noticed the guardian down beside us as it made a noise and Wang stabbed it but not before Lo Pan knew we were there.

With that warning the fight was on with Jack shooting his weapon up into the stone above his head dropping himself for the time being. I took my chance and began firing my handgun into the crowd hoping to take out as many enemies as possible before the Cang Sing came into melee range of the enemies. I was careful not to hit any of my allies with my shooting that was less effective than I would like. Once I saw Thunder go flying thanks to Egg Shen I turned toward his launch point and fired from the hip taking out the guard that had been advancing on Jack. With Jack still free I figured he would be able to help out a little more in this portion of the fight than he did in the movie but without a gun that is less likely. It might even be more dangerous for Jack as he is moving around instead of being covered by an enemy.

With Jack still loose I try shooting Lo Pan but miss hitting the statue behind him as he finishes the marriage ritual with Miao Yin. With that Lo Pan was married twice over as he married Gracie Law first. Egg Shen chose that moment to start his spell battle with the ancient sorcerer but not before Lo Pan knocked Gracie off the platform. I kept up the pressure drawing Lightning's attention as Lo Pan fled with Miao Yin up the escalator into the dragon mouth carved door with the recovered Thunder as an escort. Wang went chasing after them once he spun around and threw his Jian back at the flying Rain taking him in his gut. I heard Lightning charging up an attack causing me to spin around and fire a shot off from the hip taking him between the eyes causing a massive bolt of lightning to shoot out at the roof. I wasted no time in rushing towards the elevator to join Gracie and Jack who was bleeding from a new cut on his side.

Before I got to them the Yeren popped up and started to strangle Jack. I watched the comedy of Gracie kicking the beast between its legs as Jack spun around forcing the monster to the ground. Then giving it another kick for good measure before they climbed into the elevator and left without waiting on anyone else. In my anger at being left behind I shot the Yeren in the face until its head was completely gone before joining up with Egg Shin and the surviving Chang Sing. Our group headed upstairs while I kept close to Egg as I knew from the movie even though he would get lost he would meet back up with the main cast. It was as we were running around the halls that I remembered what caused the main cast to get to the meet up point with Egg Shin. They would have run into Lightning forcing them to move up a floor where Egg would see them and use his crossbow to get then up another level.

I kept my eyes open as we felt the building shake from the death of Lo Pan even as Egg and I got lost in the maze of tunnels. After a few minutes of the pair of us moving around in silence we heard Jack and the others down below. I took that time to look down the hole in the hallway we were making out way through and called using a parody what would have been Egg's line in the original movie. "Hello way down there!" My hollering was enough to make the four below us to pause in their panicked flight out of the building. With their attention on us Egg called for them to watch out and use his crossbow to get a line down to them two floors below. We then assisted the two run away brides up along with their would be paramours by using the crossbow. I was a bit jealous of the crossbow that could be used like Batman's grapple gun to get places I normally would not.

With the six of us together we started running through the building recklessly as the alarm was blaring. As we were making our way through the storage area we eventually came to a metal sliding door that Jack opened and saw his truck the Porkchop Express. We all quickly climbed aboard the rig while Jack held the door shut. I hopped in the driver's seat and quickly found the underneath the driver's seat. Egg stayed outside the truck and readied something from his bag as I fired up the engine and prepared to gun it. Once we were read Jack released the door and ran for the truck while Egg threw whatever he had prepared to distract the guards chasing us. With Jack and Egg aboard I slammed the accelerator and reversed out of the door locking us in.

Once free from the building I swung us around away from the oncoming sirens that signified the approaching police and firefighters. I was paying attention to the road and stop lights, so I did not need Gracie to tell me to stop as she was busy freaking out in Jack's lap while Wang and Miao Yin were making out with each other in the sleeper compartment. I safely navigated back to the Dragon of Black Pool as I did not know where else it would be appropriate to go at this time. Once we were safely inside the restaurant the group decided to have a party in celebration of not only surviving but also ending the threat of Lo Pan for good.

I being the seventh wheel in the party along with Egg settled to drink in the corner. I was happy that everything seemed to have worked out for the group and watched as Jack confronted Egg before the old man left to travel around on his long vacation. Then came Wang paying Jack triple instead of double in a check. I simply walked out going unnoticed by the happy partyers as I did not want to watch Jack and Gracie flirting with each other while I felt myself disappear into the mist leaving the world behind.
