Rudy receives a note from his dear friend and creation, Snap. Apparently, Snap is absent from the ChalkZone because he teamed up with a band of Nicktoons to go find a mysterious figure who wanders the Dark Mountains. SpongeBob, and later Timmy, Danny, and Jimmy go help Rudy find the Dark Mountains so they can save both the Nicktoons band and possibly that figure.

They have to find a way to get back to their own world, but things are never simple. Snap has to avoid water at all costs lest he dissolve into nothing, and Rudy must come to terms with his feelings for Kevin Costner if they are to find their way home.
