Author's Note:

I feel like I should've pointed this out earlier but this is rated due do violence, swearing, gore, death and substance use. Also I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Now a few things that I want to address before we continue that I should've addressed in the last chapter. Firstly while I love writing I am 100% more of a songwriter than a full storywriter so forgive me for mistakes. I've only really written creatively for school projects and all of my teachers have said that they were good so… that has to count for something right? Anyway my goal is for this to be in the range of 200-300K words so if you don't like long stories this is your warning. Also I've never written anything this long so there will probably be some plot holes and I'll do my best to limit them, but if you notice any please let me know so I can maybe fix them (depending on how big of a plot hole it is). You may have some questions about some of the things in this fic which I will talk about later as well. Anyway, enjoy this chapter!

Chapter 2: Bakugo

This was going to be the worst trip ever. Bakugo got stuck next to the worst possible person. Well maybe not the worst possible person because it could've been shitty Deku. But it wasn't much better. If there was someone Bakugo hated as much as Deku it was Tsuyu Asui. And she was sitting right next to him on the plane. She would be sitting next to him for 14 hours, and she was blocking his only exit because he was in the window seat. For some reason, Bakugo couldn't explain Tsuyu was the only other person who could get under his skin. It irritated the hell out of him. It irritated him even more that he had some respect for her. Of course, he would never tell anyone else this but Bakugo appreciated Tsuyu's bluntness when it came to everything. She spoke her mind with no care if it hurt other people's feelings. She never backed down and stood her ground on her opinions. Hell, she didn't even back down from him and always maintained eye contact with him unlike some of the other extras in this class that looked away when he glared at them. He respected that. However, it pissed him off as well. He didn't like when people looked down on him and he got that enough from fucking Deku. He didn't need Asui to do it either. The only reason Bakugo didn't blow up on Asui was because she was good friends with Uraraka. Bakugo and Uraraka weren't really friends but they weren't not friends either. They both disliked each other but they disliked Deku just a bit more. Why Uraraka hated Deku she had never really said. All Bakugo knew was that Deku did something that Uraraka didn't like at the start of the school year and she's disliked him ever since. So the two of them hang out somewhat often. They occasionally studied together when she wasn't hanging out with her girl squad. Of course, Bakugo didn't hang out with her as much as he hung out with Kirishima. He would never tell the guy but he was definitely Bakugo's best friend. He always hung out with him and put up with Bakugo's abrasive personality. Even when Bakugo tried he couldn't shake Hair-for-brains, he just stuck to him like glue. Of course, over time Bakugo just got used to it and even secretly grew to enjoy hanging out with Kirishima.

"Katsu-chan," the green-haired girl said, looking over at Bakugo. "If you keep glaring at the window it might just break."

"Shut up Froggy, when I want to hear you speak I'll talk to you," Bakugo said glaring at her.

"Well then it's wonderful that you want to talk to me Katsu-chan," she said with a sly smile on her lips

"What the hell do you mean Froggy?! I never said I wanted to talk to you!" Bakugo said practically shouting.

"Well you said that you would only want to hear me when you talked to me and here you are talking to me," she said grinning. Dammit, she was right, Bakugo thought, I did say that. The damn Frog was using my own words against me. "Also you shouldn't yell Katsu-chan. Some people are trying to sleep."

"Why you little…" Bakugo never finished the thought before he was told to be quiet by the flight attendant. Froggy just smiled at him before putting on a sleeping mask and earphones.

"Night Katsu-chan," she mumbled before falling asleep.

"Night Froggy," Bakugo muttered so quietly no one could hear. He stared at her as she fell asleep. She's kind of pretty when she isn't talking so much, Bakugo thought to himself. He snapped to attention and shook his head. What the hell was he thinking right now? He didn't just call her pretty, did he? He shook his head and started watching a movie to distract himself. It was some shitty action movie that had an even shittier plot. It was almost enough to distract him from his weird thoughts about Froggy. Almost.

By the time the plane landed Bakugo was at his wit's end. Froggy insisted on having conversations with him. He managed to brush her off occasionally but she was damn persistent. By the time they got their luggage and got to their rental van, Bakugo was ready to explode. Thankfully Kirishima showed up and Froggy walked off to join Uraraka, Ponytail & Headphones.

"Bukubro, how was the flight man!" Kirishima said, throwing his arm around Bakugo's neck.

"Get your damn arm off of me," Bakugo growled, tossing Kirishima's arm off of his shoulder. "And for the record, it would've been better if Froggy over there had just left me alone the whole time."

"You know Bakubro, I think she likes you," Kirishima said playfully, bumping Bakugo with his arm. "I didn't know you had such a way with the ladies."

"SHUT UP SHITTY HAIR," Bakugo shouted. He then lowered his voice and said, "Besides there's no way that goody two shoes likes me. And even if she did I hate her. She gets under my skin and she's damn annoying."

"I don't know Bakubro, it sounds like the beginning of love to me," Kirishima said walking to the van. "Come sit next to me man!"

"Uh, fine," Bakugo said, annoyed climbing into the back row of the van with Kirishima. In the middle row were Pikachu, Deku, and Uraraka with Ponytail in the front passenger seat. Toshinori was driving us to our hotel. When they got there it wasn't anything fancy. It was pretty old out somewhere in the Upper East Side. When we got to the lobby Aisawa turned to the students and gave them a hard look.

"Here are the rules. The curfew to be in your room is 10 pm and the lights out is 11. I expect you all to follow this. Additionally while going into other people's rooms is permitted I expect you all to be on your best behavior. On top of that, no person of the opposite gender is permitted in your rooms past 9:30. You've all been given room assignments and they can't be switched. Now hold still while I list the groupings. Most rooms will have 3 people. Except for one of the boys' rooms which will have 2 people," he said looking each of them in the eye. Bakugo was hoping he didn't end up in a room with Deku. "Alright, the first room is Jirou, Yaoyorozu, and Uraraka. The second room is Mina, Tsuyu, and Hagakure. Girls, you will be on the second floor. Alright for the boys, the first room will be Koda, Shoji & Tokoyami. The second room is Kaminari, Kirishima & Sato. Third room is Sero, Aoyama & Mineta. The fourth room is Iida & Ojiro. The final room is Midoriya, Bakugo & Todoroki." Bakugo felt his blood boil—just his luck. Of course, he had to get stuck with Half & Half and shitty Deku. And he would have to spend the next 10 days with them.

"Mr. Aisawa, where is class 1B staying?" Pinky asked.

"They're staying in another hotel across town. As you should know, they have a different itinerary than we do," Aisawa said. "Now all of you should be off to your rooms."

Bakugo grabbed his stuff and his key to the room and made his way to the room without saying a word to his roommates. Although it was only noon in New York it was 2 am in Japan. This was messing with Bakugo and he could tell it was messing with the others as well. They didn't have anything to do until they went to dinner so Bakugo decided to micro nap so as not to throw off his sleep schedule too much. When he woke up it was 3 pm and Deku and that Icy Hot idiot were sitting on the floor playing Uno.

"Oh good to see that you're up Kacchan," Deku said, throwing down his last card winning the game. "Want to play in the next round Kacchan?"

"Sure whatever Deku," Bakugo said knowing he couldn't back down from the challenge to beat his biggest rivals. And as much as he hated to admit it Deku was one of his biggest rivals. Despite what it seemed like everyone in Class 1A (except for Uraraka and himself of course) respected Deku a lot. Mostly because he had managed to not only make it in the class without talent but seemed to excel in it, putting his place in the class right up there with Bakugo, Icy-Hot, and Ponytail. And even though it was a stupid game of Uno it was another chance to prove how much more superior Bakugo was than Deku. Deku passed out the cards and they got to playing.

"Dammit Deku you have to be cheating cause this is bullshit!" Bakugo exclaimed, throwing his cards down. It really was bullshit. There was no reason Deku should be this damn good at Uno. He had won the last 4 consecutive games and Bakugo was certain the nerd was cheating.

"I swear I'm not Kacchan," Deku said while collecting the cards, chuckling. "I've just had a lot of practice. You're also incredibly predictable Kacchan."

"The fuck you say Deku! I'm not predictable," Bakugo said, throwing a heavy right hook that Deku dodged easily.

"Yes you are Kacchan. You start every fight with a right hook," Deku said looking up at Bakugo. "I know because I've watched you in fights for years." Bakugo stares at the nerd. He knew the nerd followed him around for a lot of their youth but he never realized how much the nerd had actually paid attention to Bakugo that much. All of a sudden there was a knock at the door and Uraraka opened the door.

"Aisawa sensei said to round you all up because we're going to dinner," she said looking around at the boys. "He said that you all needed to be down in 5 minutes or we're leaving you behind"

"Thanks Uraraka," Deku said, smiling a little.

"Whatever Deku," she said, turning to leave the room. "If it were up to me you would've been left behind." Sometimes Bakugo forgot how much Uraraka seemed to despise the nerd. It sometimes even rivaled his own dislike of the nerd. She still never told Bakugo what the loser had done and he doubted she ever would. He didn't particularly care but he was still curious. Bakugo stood up and grabbed his stuff.

"Alright extras, let's go see if American food is really the shit people say it is," he said walking to the door.

Bakugo was honestly pleasantly surprised with the food. Sure it was different but damn did the Americans know how to do spice. There was plenty of flavor in everything he ate. Of course he had to be careful of what he ate because damn did these Americans not hold back on calories. Bakugo had to maintain his fitness level and American food was not going to be good for that. But he couldn't help how much he wanted to keep eating.

"Who would've known Americans could make such good food," Pikachu said, shoving food into his mouth.

"Could you not talk with your mouth full Jemming Whey?" Earphones said stabbing him with her fork very hard.

"Ow, damn Jirou that fucking hurt," Pikachu said rubbing his arm. "I might even be bleeding."

"Oh quit your whining you big baby," Earphones said going back to her meal. Bakugo knew from Uraraka that Earphones has some personal vendetta against Pikachu because of some sexist comments he said or something. Honestly, Bakugo didn't care about their petty squabbles; however, even Bakugo would admit that it was funny to watch Earphones abuse Pikachu. Across the way Bakugo could see Half & Half sitting awkwardly next to Ponytail. He had heard that Ponytail had some kind of a grievance with that Half & Half idiot although Uraraka didn't want to tell him what the idiot had done to piss Ponytail off. Of course because it's Half & Half it could've been fucking anything. Bakugo looked to his left and a couple of seats down the way he could see shitty Deku trying to have some small talk with Uraraka and he was utterly failing. She was brushing off every attempt Deku made giving him either the cold shoulder or one word answers. Bakugo was trying to restrain himself from laughing because it was honestly hilarious.

"What's so funny Katsu-chan?" a voice said next to him and Bakugo groaned. He had forgotten that he had gotten sat next to the stupid Froggy. He was hoping she would just ignore him but apparently fate was against him.

"It's none of your fucking business Froggy," Bakugo growled trying to focus on his food. "If it were you would already know."

"Why do you seem to hate me Katsu-chan?" Froggy said genuinely curious.

"What do you mean Froggy? I don't fucking hate you," Bakugo said hating that he was admitting it especially to her of all people. "I just… well…"

"Alright class looks like we need to be heading back to the hotel. We have a big day tomorrow," Aisawa said standing up. Bakugo sighed in relief. He hated to admit it but their sensei had just saved him from fumbling his speech like the damn nerd. They made their way back to the hotel and when they got to the elevator Froggy turned and looked at him.

"We're gonna finish this conversation tomorrow okay Katsu-chan," she said, winking at him before going to her room.

"Kacchan what was that about," Deku said looking at him confused.

"Honestly I have no fucking clue Deku."

Authors note:

So I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Now I know y'all might have a few questions so I hope I can answer some of them. Now you might have some questions about some of the choices I've made so let's go through some that I think I need to address. First you might be confused about this thing I mentioned in the last chapter about no quirks and how instead the students need to have some form of "talent". Now the purpose of talents is so that the characters can keep a more realistic and manageable version of quirks. Like with Bakugo being great at making explosives this allows me to keep his explosions but keep a limiter on his power. Because now Bakugo needs to find stuff to make his bombs making him more suited for a survival horror type setting. Now a big question you might have is why in the hell did I send Class 1A to New York instead of California which is much closer to Japan so let me explain. I have never been to either. I'm from a city in Colorado that's named after another city and have never really been to a big city. However I've read enough books (cough* Percy Jackson *cough) and seen enough movies that I got a pretty good feel for New York. Now the two big reasons I chose New York is because of 1) the population density which is about 73K people per square mile. That's a lot of people which means there will be a lot of zombies, which means a lot of danger. And 2) it's an island and if you've ever seen The Dark Knight Rises you know what I'm going for. Now for those who haven't I guess spoiler (although it is a 12 year old movie. Good god it's been 12 years already? I'm only 18 and I still feel old) Bane blows up all of the bridges locking everyone onto the island. Spoiler I might just do that because it gives me a BS way of keeping the characters in danger. Now there is something I want to do at the end of these chapters and it is that I want to do a little thing where I give fun facts about the chapter like references and even what the original concept for the chapter was. So for this one I originally forgot to mention Class 1B at all. Like they were just forgotten about which would have been a big plot hole because I thought about bringing them back as cameos later and it would've been weird for them to just spawn out of the way. Now because I didn't give one of these for the last chapter I'll tell you that originally we were supposed to end that chapter with the start of the apocalypse and this chapter would have been their first reactions to it and all the shenanigans that follow however I decided it would be better to flesh out the characters and perspectives before we got to the zombies. So yeah this chapter Bakugo was supposed to run off to find Kirishima because our main characters got separated and Bakugo wanted to make sure he was okay. Then Asui was going to convince him to come back with our main group. Now this will probably still happen (unless I think of something better) but that is going to happen later. Anyway please review and I hope you enjoyed the chapter see you next week (probably, school starts this Monday so we'll see how much I can write by then)
