A/N: OK got rain from the hurricane so decided to wait and write ahead in case the power/internet went out... And then this site was acting up again for a day.

Chapter IV: A Thing For Musicians.
Last Time.
"Guess I'm in it for the long haul now." Naruto shrugged before Clover hugged him
"If Naruto's doing it, so am I~" She smiled as the other two got in on the hug having Naruto blush.
Jerry explained that he erased the memories of the people who knew them causing the four to sigh. He then explained Tad was arrested as well before being in the cell with Fabu and Yuri.
Beverly Hills High -8:45 AM.
Naruto drove his recently returned truck with the girls and parked in the parking lot before they got out, Clover in the front passenger seat.
Clover's wearing a pink dress with multiple zippers and matching strapped heels.
Sam's wearing a pink shirt that shows her shoulders and blue bell-bottom jeans with brown shoes.
Naruto's wearing black pants with a red shirt and grey shoes.
Alex is wearing a white shirt green skirt and pink shoes.
As they got to the front of the school, Mandy parked in her spot with her friends and started yelling at them. "Hey newbies, wash my car!"
"I hope you like extra foam!" Clover yells back tossing the pomade grenade and having Mandy, her friends, and the car covered in foam.
The girls laughs as Naruto smiles before turning to walk into the school.
Now.
Record Store, Tokyo –9:58 AM
"Who is this Ricky Mathis chump, anyway?"
A young man asks in a closed store as he and another put CDs on the shelf.
"I don't know, but his fans sure seem to like him. We can't keep his lame, pretty boy single on the shelf." The other replied putting one CD on the shelf.
Suddenly, as the clock struck 10, the doors opened having a mob of people came in running to the Ricky section.
Beverly Hills High School –12:00 PM
"Sammy, could I borrow your cashmere belly sweater tomorrow?"
Clover asked Sam wearing a red long-sleeved collared button-up shirt that showed her front belly, pink pants, and red-heeled boots.
"Sure. Sure! That's what best friends are for!" Sam replied, now wearing a blue shirt with a large white collar that covered half her body and white shoes.
"Hey, what about me?" Alex asks wearing a lime green sleeveless top, lilac pink skirt, and tan boots
"Don't be crazy, Alex," Clover said as they stopped by the stairs. "We can't wear Sam's sweater at the same time. We'll stretch it out!"
"No, Clover I meant… Aren't I, your best friend, too?" Alex asks as Clover blinks before smiling and then hugs her.
"Well, of course, you are, silly. And that's why I'm gonna borrow your leopard print sandals tomorrow!" Clover then gasps.
The others turned and smiled as they saw Naruto walking towards them wearing a jean shirt unbuttoned showing a white shirt underneath, faded blue jeans, and black sneakers.
"Naruto~" Clover was suddenly on him with a hug. "I was wondering… Do you play an instrument?"
"I, uh… Dabble." He replied before the lockers were lifted and all four were pulled in before the lockers came back down.
They screamed as they slid down the tunnel before hitting a padded end. It fell revealing it's a circle in an O of a W.O.O.H.P sign on the wall of Jerry's larger office.
"Well, so nice of you guys to drop in," Jerry said as a screen dropped down.
"Nice for some of us," Clover spoke as she slid to the floor and then rubbed her butt to soothe the pain.
Jerry then brought up a picture of a young man with information about him on the screen.
He is tall, well-built, muscular, and broad-shouldered and has short brown hair styled in a cowlick and green eyes. He's wearing a black stringed necklace that holds a ring, a white t-shirt with a crew neck, its sleeves are red as is the neckline, black-grey pants, and quarter-length brogue shoes.
Ricky Mathis Age: 26. Born: Seoul. Blood Type: AB. Real Name Richard Martin. Case: T-M-S-. F-G. M-NT E-O
"Ricky Mathis. Never heard of him." Alex spoke as Jerry looked at them showing a video of a concert, Ricky's single song CD, and him with sunglasses and, a white coat standing by a man.
He's on the short side overweight with long brown hair, and fair skin, and wearing purple tinted glasses with a black suit and purple dress shirt.
"That's because he's an overnight musical sensation. In fact, as of today, he's only released one single the optimistically titled Rock Legend." Jerry explained showing pictures of the mob in Tokyo as Alex made shadow puppets on the screen. And stopped as Jerry looked back and raised an eyebrow. "Which makes it even more unsettling there have been similar occurrences around the globe. Something's up, we're just not sure what."
"So, where do we fit in?" Sam asked as Naruto stood.
"Your mission is to go undercover as the opening act on his world tour and find out exactly what it is about Ricky Mathis that's making his fans so... Fanatical," Jerry replied as Clover stood up smiling.
"You mean we get to be in a real band?!"
"A real pretend one," Jerry replied raising a finger.
"This is so perfect, now all we need is a name." She said as Jerry smiled.
"Actually, ladies, Naruto, we've already taken care of your name."
Somewhere In The Sky –03:00 PM
The spies were dressed in 60s-style clothing flying in a jet that had a 60s floral pint job with Spies painted in yellow with a flower as the dot for the eye.
"We're called The Spies? That is so lame." Clover sighed wearing pink glasses, a pink choker with a flower on it, a green over-the-shoulder top with a flower on it, and pink and orange pants with green shoes.
"Yeah. Totally unimaginative." Alex sighed wearing a pink sleeveless top with an orange heart over the chest pink shorts and heeled boots.
Naruto was wearing a tie-die shirt with bell-bottom jeans and brown boots with sunglasses.
And Sam was wearing glasses as well with a pink collared shirt under an orange sweater vest, brown pants, and heeled boots.
"It was my idea." Jerry wearing blue glasses spoke as the girls looked away in embarrassment.
"Hey, look at these cool instruments!" Sam spoke trying to get the attention away as they saw three guitars and drums.
Sam picked up a heart-shaped guitar, Clover a blue star one and Alex went to the drums before they started playing poorly. "I don't have the heart to tell them." Naruto sighed before Jerry turned the speakers off.
"Perhaps now isn't the best time for you to er... Practice. Now. Where were we?" Jerry asked as another male agent went to whisper.
"The drop is ready, sir."
"Oh, yes, the gear." Jerry snapped his finger and had a guitar case come up as the four moved to stand on the other side. "This week girls, you'll be utilizing the Expandable Cable bungee belt." He showed the belt. "The Wind Tunnel 3,000 Tornado Blast hairdryer." He then showed me the hair dryer. "The Suction-cup Bottomed go-go boots." The boots were next before bringing up earphones for one ear. "The Ultra-sensitive earring microphone, and, my personal favorite, U.P.W.A.T.I."
"Upwhaty?" Alex blinked as another case came down from the ceiling as a scuba helmet and jet came up on the screen.
"No, no, not upwhaty, U.P.W.A.T.I. Underwater Power-Walking Apparatus That's Inconspicuous." Jerry replied before opening the other case and had a drone come up and fly to Naruto.
It looks like a red spider. "The Spider Drone, it can shoot taser blasts incapacitating enemies," Jerry said as he pulled a red metal device. "The trip mine uses webs to pull an enemy and stick them to what the mine is on or pull two together if you put it on one person." He then pulled two red and black chevron-shaped modular devices and put them in fit bits as the drone flew back to the case.
"And the web shooter, you can shoot a small ball to temporarily blind someone, block something shut, or create a string to pull something to you." He said tossing the cases to Clover and Naruto as other agents put parachutes on them. Now, goodbye and good luck, spies. Or, as they say in show biz, break a leg."
He pushed a button having them fall and yell. "YOU SUUUUCCCKKKK!" Naruto yelled as they fell.
London Hip Hotel –04:00 PM
The four pulled up in a limo and reeled back as a mob swarmed them.
"Wow, look! We have fans already!" Alex said before the crowd saw them through the window and mutter before leaving.
"You're not Ricky!"
"That's not him!"
"Wow. I guess Ricky Mathis is popular." Sam said as Naruto ran a hand through his hair showing he had the fit bits on.
They then go to their hotel room that's decorated like the '60s before Clover jumps on the bed. "Naruto~ Wanna join me~?"
"I'm not tired," Naruto replied oblivious to Clover's flirtatious tone before practicing his gadget.
He placed his middle and ring finger to his palm and added pressure, jumping as a string of webs shot out, connected to a vase and then he pulled it to him. "Oh, try it again." Clover smiled and pointed to a vase by her.
Only to move when he shot another stream to have it hit her and then be pulled into Naruto, placing her hands on his shoulder as he held her by the waist and raised her left leg.
"You must be The Spies."
Naruto turned to see the man who was in the picture with Ricky before Alex nervously chuckled. "Spies, that's ridiculous! Who told you we were spies?"
Naruto and Clover walk over before Clover elbows Alex behind their backs. "Yes, that's us, The Spies. We rock." She said before holding onto Naruto's arms.
"Well, I am Phil Jenkins, the tour manager. Ricky's very anxious to meet you. What do you say we head up to the penthouse?"
The group then walked up to the penthouse where Ricky was strumming on his guitar. "Great song."
"Thanks. I just wrote it." Ricky said to Clover as he stopped.
"We're scheduled to record Ricky's new song tomorrow morning. I'm sure it'll be his next big hit." Phil said as Alex was looking around the room.
"We're sure it will be too. We're thrilled to be touring with such a great musical talent." Sam smiles as Ricky mirrored it.
"The feeling's mutual. I just adore your early work."
Alex who was sitting at a piano blinks at that. "We have early work?"
"You should come to the recording studio and hang out, it'll be a blast!" Ricky finished as Phil waved his hands.
"Sorry, Ricky, your recording sessions are strictly off-limits."
"Sounds like fun! We'd love to go!" Clover spoke as she was leaning on the piano.
"Great." Phil narrowed his eyes before turning to leave. "OK, everybody, we don't want to keep those hungry fans waiting."
Ricky stood and knocked one of his CDs off having it open to reveal the disk was glowing green. Naruto quickly shot out a web and pulled it to him to hide behind his back before the spies followed behind. "That's weird, since when do CDs glow?" Sam asks as she takes the CD from Naruto's hand.
"So, besides the fact that he has totally crazed fans and glowing CDs, Ricky seems pretty normal to me," Alex spoke as Naruto looked over.
"Either he's one hell of an actor or he's not actually in on it."
SoHo Nightclub –07:00 PM
"Ricky! Ricky! Ricky!"
The crowd chanted as the spies got ready for their turn on stage wearing new outfits minus Naruto who was wearing his original disguise.
Sam's wearing a purple hat, an over-the-shoulder top yellow pants with purple flowers at the knees, and purple shoes.
Alex's wearing a large green fur hat with a yellow body suit and cape that has a matching collar.
"Well, here goes nothing. You ready, Clover?" Sam asks before seeing Clover sitting at the wall dreamy expression on her face as she was listening to Ricky's CD.
She's wearing an aqua blue cowboy hat, pink high collar vest, and pink and blue striped top with aqua blue short shorts and cowboy boots.
Clover? You're not supposed to be listening to music, you're supposed to be playing it!" Sam said pulling Clover up and pulling her earphones out. "Besides, I took Ricky's CD for evidence."
"Too bad, cos I totally dig it. It's really... Infectious."
They then got on stage before they started playing their instruments. "Hey, we sound great!" Clover said as Sam looked over.
"Yeah, that's because the music's pre-recorded! In case you haven't noticed, none of us are singing-" She stopped as Naruto started to sing and noticed his guitar was the only one plugged in.
They say we are what we are
But we don't have to be
I'm bad behavior but I do it in the best way
She blinked before seeing Clover wasn't fawning over Naruto due to her current thing for musicians.
'Cause we could be immortals
Naruto continued singing as he played.
Later, after they got off, Sam looked at Naruto. "I didn't know you sang or played."
"Before coming to Beverly Hills I was in a band and my-!"
Naruto stopped as Ricky walked up for his turn. "Nice job lip-syncing. Took me forever to get it right."
"You lip-sync, Ricky?" Clover asks as he stops.
"I don't like to, but Phil insists that I don't sing live. I guess I can't argue with success."
He then ran out as the curtain pulled up as a man was putting a glowing CD in the system.
"So much for the theory about Ricky being normal. The guy doesn't even sing!" Alex said as Sam looked up to see Phil was in a room.
"It's not the only thing that isn't normal. Check that out." She pointed up before looking at the others. "What do you say we grab a spies-eye view?"
"Good idea," Alex spoke as they walked before Naruto looked back.
"Clover, you coming?"
"Are you crazy? I've got a killer view right here."
The three then went to the room showing their band badges and up to Phil who was on the phone whispering. Yeah, Mr. Sebastian, everything is a go for tomorrow's recording session. I've prepared the special lyrics. Unfortunately, Ricky invited those pesky Spies to come along. We'll have to keep tight security." He then saw the others in before hanging up. "Oh! Hey, hey, guys! What's wrong? Aren't you having fun?"
He went to the door, looked around, and closed it having it go quiet revealing the room's soundproof.
"Hey, I think I've gone deaf." Alex blinked as it went quiet.
"The booth is soundproof. The noise night after night gives me a headache. I prefer just to watch." Phil spoke as Sam glanced at Naruto.
London Hip Hotel –09:00 PM.
Crack!
Lightning cracks as the four are in a glass elevator going up to their room. The three girls are in their original disguises with Clover leaning against the door with a foot propped up on it, looking into space with a smile.
"So, let's review, Ricky's fans are nuts, his CDs glow, he doesn't sing, and his manager sits in a soundproof booth during his shows," Sam spoke counting off her fingers.
"Getting freaky. What do you think, Clover?" Alex asks Clover who sighs
"I think Ricky was incredible! I mean, he's so talented. I could just listen to him all night…"
Later, they went to their room Clover sat on the bed clutching her Ricky CD as Jerry popped up on the TV.
"Jerry?!"
"Hello, spies. I hope rock stardom hasn't gone to your heads." He said to them
"Jerry, what can you tell us about a Mr Sebastian? Says here he's the owner of Ricky Mathis' record label." Sam asks before a video of a man with long black hair covering the left side of his face comes up playing the guitar at a concert.
"Apparently, he used to be quite the successful guitar player before he lost his arm in a freak pyrotechnics accident." The video then cuts to smoke after Sebastian jumps into fire coming out of the stage and the crowd screaming. "Now he's an eccentric recluse producer who lives on a remote island off the coast of Brazuela."
He finished before turning the screen off as Ricky walked in having Clover cling to him. "Ricky!"
"So… Who's ready to go to my recording studio in Brazuela?" He asks then as he clasps his hands together.
Off The Coast Of Brazuela –11:45 PM
"I wonder what was up with that strange radio tower thing being strapped to the yacht?"
Sam asked as they landed after seeing a yacht with an antenna "Ricky says it's so they can broadcast the concert live." Alex replied as they walked off the jet and saw a group of guards around the dock.
"I don't buy it. Since when do you need guards to watch a satellite dish?" Sam asks as they go to the building beside a hill.
Later, the group was in the studio as Rick was in the booth strumming. "That was great, Ricky," Phil said before Clover dressed head to toe in Ricky-themed clothing grabbed the mic.
"Yeah, it was totally excellent!"
"Now, why don't we lay down the lyrics?" Phil said pushing Clover back then went into the booth before Sam used her earpiece to listen in.
"I'm Ricky and I'm your master. Follow me as I spread disaster. Take over the government, do as I say. I'll rule the world and you'll obey….? Phil, I sort of didn't intend for the new song to be so… Aggressive. What happened to the lyrics I wrote?"
"Ricky, trust me, I know what I'm doing. These new lyrics will give your song that hip, edgy feel the kids are so wild about these days." Phil replied turning to smile.
"OK, I'd say those definitely fall under the special lyrics category," Sam spoke to the others.
"All the lyrics Ricky sings are special," Clover said dreamily.
"Maybe we should take this opportunity to do a little spying," Sam said running out followed by Naruto and Alex.
Down in another room, the three in their catsuits are sticking to the ceiling with their boots. "I just love it when fashion has a purpose," Sam said before two guards walked under them.
Both were pulled up as they each walked under a red laser having webbing stick to their mouths as a web wrapped around them keeping them on the ceiling.
They dropped and ran into the room they walked out of only to find it empty. "The secret laboratory's got to be around here somewhere," Sam said before Alex leaned on a wall and then fell as the section fell. "Nice work, Alex."
Alex raised a thumbs up at that. "Yeah. Anytime."
They walked into the room and saw a tub with a chair in the middle beside a console.
Hearing a noise, the girls hid under a desk as Naruto went up to the ceiling with his boots. Phil walked in with a blonde-haired scientist. "The new Ricky single is all finished."
"Excellent."
Naruto looked at the door to see a grey-haired Sebastian with a robotic left hand dressed in a white button shirt and pants with matching boots.
"The frequency has been successfully added." The scientists said as Sebastian had a guard go in the tube.
"Good! Now let's see the effects firsthand."
"I take it the guy with the scary hook is Sebastian," Alex whispered to Sam.
"And I take it he doesn't play guitar much these days."
They then peeked out to see the guard start chanting as Ricky's new song played inside. "You're Ricky and you're my master. I'll follow you as you spread disaster. Take over the government, do as you say. You'll rule the world and I'll obey."
"You're dismissed," Sebastian said letting the guard go who continued to chant.
"Did you see that? It's like… It's like Ricky's song hypnotized that guy or something!" Alex whispered to Sam.
"The frequency they were talking about must be a subliminal mind control device. That would explain why Clover's been acting so crazy!" Sam said as Alex blinked in confusion. "Think about it. Ricky's first song, Rock Legend, is about rock star worship and what does it do? It hypnotizes listeners into worshipping him! They do whatever the lyrics tell them to!"
"So that means, if Ricky performs at the concert the fans will do whatever the lyrics say!" Alex yelled getting the attention of the others.
Naruto shot webbing into the eyes of the men before dropping down and running out with the girls. He turned to web up the doors they closed before they got to the roof. Naruto then pulled the girls to him by their waists getting both to blush before he jumped off having them scream and gripped him hard. Naruto then shot a string of webbing attaching it to the building and having them swing around.
Naruto continued attaching webs to swing to the ground before they ran to the dock where Ricky was.
They got to the dock and found Ricky letting him know what was going on before Sam ran off. As Sam avoided the security, Naruto and Clover started running from the mob of people before getting on top of a large tractor-trailer. Naruto hit a button on his Fit bit having the drone fly to him and start shocking the people who started climbing before being attacked by Clover.
Rrriiippp!
She ripped the front of his suit off before blinking as her entire face went red and looked up at Naruto. "Naruto? What happened? The last thing I remember was popping in Ricky's CD."
"Long story short, the guy in charge of the label is putting mind control on Ricky's song to take over the world," Naruto replied before seeing a helicopter flying in the wave of the satellite before it crashed and the beam exploded.
BOOM!
Naruto and Clover were blasted off and up to Jerry who had landed with agents to arrest Phil and Sebastian.
Beverly Hills High –12:22 PM
"I can't believe I fell for Ricky Mathis. I'm, like, so embarrassed."
Clover sighed as she and the other girls were sitting at a tree with her legs up to hide her face. "Don't be so hard on yourself. You weren't thinking straight." Alex said lying on her stomach.
"Luckily the effects of the music wore off and you're not a zombie groupie anymore," Sam spoke before they heard a guitar.
Looking on the other side, they saw Naruto strumming an acoustic guitar with some blood stains on it. "Naruto? Why's your guitar like that?" Alex spoke as Clover sat beside Naruto.
"I was told that's the mark of a dedicated musician."
"So you have played?" Sam asked as Naruto nodded.
"Yeah before moving, like most teenagers I was in a garage band and my ex-girlfriend was big into music."
"Ex?" Clover asked as Naruto nodded.
"Yeah, she moved to chase that dream and we couldn't make it work." Naruto then started to play before singing a little quietly.
Once I thought that love was something I could never do
Never knew that I could feel this much
But this yearning in the deep part of my heart for you
Sam and Alex blushed as they listened while Clover seemed to have hearts coming off her.
