Chapter Three: Playtime in the Savannah

Rafiki sat cross-legged in his tree, humming in deep meditation. The air around him was serene—well, almost. A series of cheerful giggles and playful shrieks echoed through the branches, breaking his concentration. Makini was happily playing with the baboon siblings, her laughter mingling with theirs. She had just started tickling Asha, who squealed in delight.

Asha: "Hehehehe." She giggled uncontrollably, wriggling away.

Rafiki: "Makini, do you think you can play with the baboons someplace else?" He opened one eye, his voice calm but with a hint of exasperation.

Makini: "Oh, of course, Rafiki. Come on, guys. Let's go play somewhere else." She froze mid-tickle, glancing up sheepishly.

The baboon siblings smiled widely and followed Makini as they climbed down the tree and ran toward the open Savannah. Once there, the fun continued. They played chase, darting through the grass and around bushes. The siblings would climb up trees, racing to see who could get the highest, and Makini joined in their games of tag, laughing as she tried to catch them. Later in the day, the group sat under the shade of a large tree, catching their breath. Makini decided to strike up a conversation with her young charges.

Bongo: "Makini, did you know Fuli is my best friend?" He beamed as he leaned closer.

Makini: "Really?" Her eyes widened with delight.

Bongo: "Uh-huh." He replied proudly.

Bobo: "They actually met when Fuli once babysat him." He added.

Makini: "Awww. How sweet." She clasped her hands together.

Asha: *baby voice* "Now we're all friends with the Lion Guard." He chimed.

Makini: "Am I your friend?" She grinned, placing a hand over her heart.

Bongo, Bobo, and Asha: "Yeah!" They chorused with enthusiasm.

Makini's smile grew even brighter, but their heartfelt moment was interrupted by the sound of rumbling stomachs.

Bongo: "Ooh, I'm hungry." He patted his belly.

Bobo: "Me too." He agreed.

Asha: *baby voice* "Me three." She added.

Makini: "Looks like there's some fruit up in those trees." She glanced around and spotted a cluster of fruit trees nearby.

Without hesitation, the baboon siblings scrambled up the nearest tree. They picked the ripest fruits and began munching away happily while Makini sat below, cross-legged. Closing her eyes, she began to meditate.

Makini: "Mmmmmmmmmmm." She hummed, her voice blending with the gentle rustle of leaves in the breeze.

When she finally opened her eyes, she looked up into the tree, expecting to see the siblings still eating. But to her surprise, the branches were empty.

Makini: "Oh no. Where did they go?" She shot to her feet, alarmed.

Grabbing her bakora staff, she began searching the area, her worry growing with each step.

What Makini didn't know was that the baboon siblings weren't lost at all. They had decided to play hide and seek and were giggling quietly as they hid inside a hollow log.

Bongo: "Do you think Makini knows we're playing hide and seek?" He whispered.

Bobo: "Maybe. I don't know." He shrugged, keeping his voice low.

Asha: "Hee hee hee." She giggled.

The three of them snickered as they huddled inside the log, enjoying their little game while Makini continued her search, oblivious to their hiding spot.
