Surge didn't notice when her surroundings had shifted, but suddenly she realized the white void had been replaced with a black expanse speckled with blinding white dots far into the distance. "Am I in space!?" she now also noticed the buildings around her had regained color, making it much easier to tell they were apart of some kind of space station.

Glancing about, Surge soon saw the station itself; the cannon and spikes formed a face and mustache that was very familiar to the tenrec.

"Wait I know what this place is…" yes, Surge had found herself on the space station designed by one Professor Gerald Robotnik known as the- "It's the Death Egg!" err… close enough "Big space station with Eggface's… face… Yep that's got to be it. But what's it doing in that weird void place?"

As Surge pondered over her partially correct assumption, she felt some kind of tugging sensation in her mind, urging her to go further into the station. "What's that? Someone wants a piece of me?" a deranged smile appeared on the tenrec's face "I'll be more than happy to give it to them!" Leaping onto a nearby rail, Surge grinded down "Oh, I've got you now. I won't let you get away!" she said as the sensation only stronger as she approached the station.

As Surge leaped off the end of the rail, a group of G.U.N. Hunters aimed at the tenrec but were soon rendered nothing more than scrap metal before even getting off a shot.

"Man, what weird looking Badniks." Surge muttered as she noted the lack of bright colors and ironic animal theming. The tenrec continued her rampage across the station, destroying any robot she came across along the way. Soon the tenrec found herself more of the station's defenses, in the form on missiles, but they proved to be no more of a threat than the robots.

Surge laughed as she easily out maneuvered the missiles "Come on! You think this these puny little missiles can hurt me?" she asked, leaping onto a bridge high above.

As if to answer her, a large cannon came down to block the path ahead, loading a much larger missile.

Surge felt a frown form as the missile fired "…Okay that might hurt."

As the missile approached, Surge glanced around for an escape (unfortunately the bridge she was on was too far away from any platform to jump to) before she felt something bounce in her pocket.

The fake Emerald.

"Surge! Pay attention!" Starline smacked his pointer against the desk.

"I am! Sheesh!" Surge said with a roll of her eyes, Starline had decided to try a classroom style setup for teaching her and Kit about Sonic and his friends. Considering Starline had made Surge into the dictionary definition of delinquent, who knows why he thought that was a good idea.

"Now remember Shadow may be slower than Sonic, but that doesn't make him any less deadly." Starline pointed to the picture of the dark hedgehog on the board "Especially with his Chaos Control abilities, speed doesn't matter when you're frozen in time. Luckily he seemingly can't use it without a Chaos Emerald."

Pulling the Emerald out of her pocket, Surge clutched it tightly and closed her eyes "Here goes nothing… Chaos Control!"

Slowly opening her eyes, Surge was greeted by the missile, just under an inch in front of her face, completely frozen in midair.

"That's more like it." Surge launched a flurry of punches and the missile's hull crumbled like wet paper. With one kick the missile was sent back towards its cannon destroying both instantly as time resumed "Oh you all are really screwed now!" she leaped off the end of the bridge and finally into the station.

A few moments later, after making her way through several rooms of G.U.N. Hunters, Beetles, and even some weird water robot things, Surge finally felt the sensation reach fever pitch as she entered a long hallway "Alright, let's see who's the idiot trying to order me around."

As Surge ran down the hall, a portal opened in front of her and out of it came some kind of starfish-like creature with a single orange eye in its middle. "You're the thing I was tracking?" Surge questioned and it seemed the creature was just as surprised as her.

"Who are you?" it questioned but quickly lost interest before Surge could answer "No matter I'll destroy all the same."

As the creature said that the ground beneath Surge's feet began to shift and morph, however after some slipping she found she could still run on it as if nothing was happening to it. Not that it mattered much as the hallway began to break away sending her flying through the cityscape the space had shifted to.

"Where… am I…?" Surge questioned as she landed on a roadway, the building around her shifting and morphing too much for her to get an idea of where she was. With no other option, the tenrec chased after the creature through the twisted city.

"Are you enjoying my latest creation, interloper?" the creature asked, clearly enjoying Surge's confusion.

"Oh, you did this? How!?" unsurprisingly the creature refused to answer, and Surge bounced off a spring, the cityscape shifted about once more as she soared through the air.

The creature flew up to Surge "How are you still alive!?"

"Gah!" Surge flinched back, landing on one of the twisted buildings to slide down it.

"The promised time will arrive once more…" the creature declared as Surge leaped off the end of the impromptu slide to the roof of the only normal building left.

"What the heck are you talking about?" Surge questioned, but the creature merely ignored her and summoned a group of G.U.N. Hunters.

"…you cannot stop fate."

"Oh nooooo, I'm sooooo scared of those tin cans." with a smirk, Surge obliterated the robots in an instant, finishing off with a spin attack right into the creature's eye.

"How is this possible!?" the creature yelled as it dropped a strange gear object, which Surge snatched up.

"I don't know starfish face, maybe fate says you lose."

"This isn't over. We shall meet again." the creature declared as he vanished into another portal and a blinding light overtook Surge's vision.

Surge blinked through the light to find herself back in the white void, although the space had changed while she was gone with the expanse of land now a small island surrounded by water and a large gate blocking the only way off it.

As she turned to the cluster of buildings, Surge was able to see the color slowly be restored to them "Huh, neat."

"Unknown lifeform detected." Surge turned towards the voice to see the statue also had regained color and looking over her "Database returns results for Sonic yet image clearly indicates this is not the case."

"Yeah, I get that a lot." Surge said before a flash of recognition crossed her face "Wait a minute, I recognize you now. You're that big Badnik that works for G.U.N." she recalled seeing images of the Badnik's rampages in one of Starline's briefings, it was the only time one of those things was somewhat interesting to her.

"Correct my designation is E-123 Omega, last and strongest of the E-100 Series."

"Right, does your robot brain have any idea where we are?"

Omega glanced around the void "Chronometer error. We are in a space without time."

"What!? How's that even possible!?"

"I was hunting Dr. Eggman's latest super-weapon when it unleashed a temporal anomaly. It is the most likely origin of this event."

"Of course, it's always Eggman isn't it."

"Now what do I do now?" Surge question, looking at the water surrounding them, "Swimming's… not my strong suit."

"The gear-shaped object you collected is resonating with a specific frequency. I detect a matching frequency in that conspicuous pillar standing out in the void." Omega pointed at said pillar next to the gate "Analysis: applying the "gear" to the construct may yield results."

Surge shrugged "Worth a shot I guess…"

As she approached the pillar, a beam shot out of it and grabbed the gear from Surge. As it absorbed the gear, the pillar began to crack letting a black substance flow out of it towards Surge, the substance entering the tenrec's body before she even had a chance to react.

Surge clutched the sides of her head as it began to pound, pain seeming to flow through ever cell of her body "What's… happening to me!?"

"Scans indicate biological rewriting on the cellular level." Omega explained.

"Gah! Make it stop!"

"Error: My database lacks the knowledge to do so."

A jolt of pain shot through Surge's arm, and she instinctively threw it forward with a beam of energy flying out of it. Unsure of what just happened but realizing that it had made the pain subside slightly, Surge continued to throw out the energy beams until her energy was spent.

"That's… new…" Surge said before falling over.

"Scans indicate projectiles resemble Chaos Spears." Omega glanced over at the gate "They should allow you to proceed further."

"Yeah… give me a sec…"

As Surge laid in pain, she couldn't help but notice the satellite floating over White Space, the eye on one of its rings having opened to stare back down at her.

"What's with the creepy moon staring at me? Reminds me of that weird starfish thing."

"Reiterate: 'creepy starfish thing?'"

"I got the gear from it." Surge pulled herself back up "And now I'm going to beat it down twice as hard for what I just went through."

"That would be Doom's Eye, the communication organism of Black Doom, leader of the Black Arms."

"And I'm guessing from the name he's not exactly a good guy."

"Affirmative."

The tenrec smiled "Just another reason to enjoy this." and she ran off.
