"Finally! Took forever to get up here." Surge had been aimlessly wandering about until a castle-like structure had caught her eye. Although if she had known how long the climb to the top would end up being she would have looked for something else. "Alright whatever's up here better be worth it!" luckily for the tenrec she didn't have to look long as right in front of her was a series of gears forming a gate-like structure "What the heck?"
As she approached it, a purple glow emanated from the gate, the gears began to slowly turn opening the gate to a swirling vortex of purple. "Okay I'll give ya credit, it's at least interesting looking." Surge said before she ran into the vortex.
Surge soon found herself looking over the remains of an Eggman base, partially sunken into the ocean "What happened here?" Soon the sound of a jet engine reached her ears, and before Surge could turn to see what it was, it rammed into the platform she was standing on completely destroying it and knocking the tenrec into the water.
Luckily Surge's manta ability activated before she even hit the water and she safely glided atop the water, glazing up to see a blue robotic dragon fly overhead. "Guess that answers what wrecked this place." Surge said as she chased after it.
The dragon responded to Surge by firing missiles at her "You can't hope to defeat me! Accept your fate, you fake hedgehog!" it bellowed out "I, Metal Sonic, am the one true Sonic!"
Shock flashed across Surge's face "Wait… you're Metal Sonic!? Since when were you a big metal dragon thing!? And you can talk now? Also, I'm a tenrec."
"See me as I am, no longer afraid of ANYTHING! I shall become the ultimate overlord, ruling as the world's most supreme being!" Metal Overlord declared, making it unclear if he even heard Surge or if he knew who she was… or knew that she wasn't Sonic.
"…okay…" Surge muttered quite possibly the only response to an insane Badnik "I've fried you before and I'll do it again."
"I'll skewer you!" Metal Overlord launched a barrage of missiles at Surge which the tenrec barely managed to dodge as they flew by. "Having trouble against the fastest thing alive?" Metal said as he let out a horrific digitized laugh.
"Yeah let's see what you have to say when frozen. Chaos Control!" Surge yelled only to see Metal continue to move as everything else froze.
Another ear-piecing laugh echoed out of Metal Overlord "Trying to use Chaos Control? Ha! That power already belongs to me!"
"What!? No fair!" Surge spotted a ramp and rocked towards it "Take this!" she cried out as she flew directly into Metal Overlord's core, knocking him back a good couple of feet.
Metal Overlord roared and began to spin, forming a waterspout that soon pulled Surge in. As she climbed the side of the spout, Metal lunged towards the tenrec only for her to jump off at the last second "Gonna have to try harder than that bolt brain!" Surge said as she landed.
The waterspout quickly dissipated however, the whirlpool remained as Metal hovered over the center of it "Let's see how long you last, on such unstable terrain." however Surge was far from impressed.
"You think you can stop me?" Metal fired a crystalline spike towards Surge, but a spin of her manta easily sent it flying back towards Metal. "All that big talk with nothing to show." Surge laughed as the spike smashed into Metal's core.
Metal glared down the tenrec, his rage quite evident in spite of his expressionless face, "I am the king of all creation! Nobody can defeat me!" he grabbed one of the nearby ships "Not you! Not Sonic! Not anyone!" and tossed it into Surge's path. With a few Chaos Spears, however, she was able to rupture the oil tanks and blow the ship to pieces.
"Yeah yeah whatever! I liked you better when you couldn't talk." As the rumble rained down Surge was suddenly struck with inspiration "Chaos Control!"
"I already told you that won't work on me!" Metal said as Surge rapidly bounced between the pieces of rubble.
"Who said I was using it on you?" as time resumed the rubble all rocked towards Metal and he was quickly overwhelmed as it knocked him into the water below.
However, before anyone could consider him finished, Metal burst out of the water more furious than even with another ship clasped in his grip. "As if I could be challenged by an imposter like you!"
Metal blindly threw the ship towards Surge, missing the tenrec entirely but providing her with a convenient ramp. Surge leaped off the manta and rocketed into Metal's core, finally putting the crazed Badnik down "You should stick to copying the Blue Buffoon, it makes your failures less embarrassing."
Back in White Space again, Surge was just about to wander off when she spotted Doom's Eye in the distance. "There you are, interloper." it flew up to the tenrec, projecting a red light from its eye to form a hologram of Black Doom.
"So, you're Black Doom?" Surge rubbed her chin in thought "Gonna be honest, you looked better as just the creepy starfish thing."
Black Doom paid little mind to Surge's words "You have made excellent progress. Unsurprisingly considering your creation." he praised only for the tenrec to roll her eyes.
"Look bub, you were beat before and this time I'll make sure the job is done right." Surge launched towards the eye, for it to dodge and reproject the hologram so Black Doom could continue.
"Shadow may have defeated us, but the Black Arms live on. And this temporal anomaly has accelerated my plans to revive my forces and consume the world."
Surge fired a spear at the eye, giving her the chance to pummel it into submission and let it fall lifelessly to the ground. But before the dead eye even finished fading away, another flew up and projected a new hologram "You sound really confident, how about you come out here now so I can kick your butt!"
"You are not ready yet. We are not ready yet. Once you have been perfected, then we will have our reckoning." Surge growled in anger as Doom's Eye flew off, however through her fury one thought hung on the tenrec's mind.
"I'm not ready yet?"
