Part 1: Worlds Collide
Chapter 1: Absolute Fate
Earth-49
A world that is filled with superheroes. A world that has constantly been saved by said superheroes. A world…. Where the heroes divided up because of a tragic incident. The Justice League, led by Batman as he plans to rebuild the group and regain everyone's trust, is put on hold when an alien known as Brainiac attacks the planet.
The Caped Crusader, whose real name is rich billionaire Bruce Wayne, is forced to set his differences aside with Superman, also known as Kal-El or Clark Kent, who have turned on each other because of moral differences ever since the latter killed Batman's archnemesis the Joker. Following Superman are Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman, Cyborg, former member of the Teen Titans, Damian Wayne, Batman's son who turned against him and was raised by the League of Assassins. And Black Adam, enemy of the deceased superhero Shazam. Superman's cousin, Supergirl, or Kara Denvers, has recently betrayed her cousin once she found out about the truth about him after being told half-truths and lies by Black Adam and Wonder Woman, tricked into thinking Batman is the enemy.
Batman leads a small group of heroes consisting of Hal Jordan, the reformed Green Lantern, no longer with Superman. Barry Allen aka the Flash, who betrayed Superman and assisted Batman in defeating him. Catwoman, former thief and Batman's on and off lover. Harleen Quinn, Joker's former lover turned redeemed hero and member in training. Green Arrow from another universe and his girlfriend Black Canary. Blue Beetle aka Jaime Reyes. And Firestorm, a hero combined from two human beings named Jason Rusch, a student and a professor named Martin Steine. Aquaman, despite wishing to remain neutral, chooses to help after Brainiac takes away Atlantis. The two groups team up against Brainiac as he forms an alliance with an evil group called the Society, led by Gorilla Grodd. The Society has disbanded and Gorilla Grodd met his end at the hands of Aquaman.
Brainiac planned to extract cities, the people and the Earth itself and add it to his collection of other planets, including Krypton. After boarding his ship, Brainiac fought hard against Superman and Batman. As the former took control of his ship to prevent it from crashing into the planet, the latter fights Brainiac.
Batman delivers a punch across the face, an uppercut to the chin followed by a backhand strike, the caped crusader then does a slide attack, scooping the alien off his feet before kicking him into the air, firing a grapple gun and wrapping strong wires around Brainiac, and throwing him down, head first before pulling him back up and jumps and pulls himself in and delivers a strong kick to Brainiac's face, knocking him backwards, defeating him and knocking him out cold.
"Like you said. I'm persistent." Batman tells him.
Superman grunts in pain as he struggles to control Brainiac's ship. Supergirl, still recovering from being chained to a table with kryptonite, looks up to see Batman help her cousin out from the controls. She sees Brainiac on the floor, but he wasn't important right now.
"We need to get you out of there." Batman warns him.
"Not yet….. The cities." Superman struggles and grunts as he does his best to concentrate.
Many of earth cities, seen in Brainiac's collection, has vanished and returned to earth safely. The ship fires blue beams and slowly, but surely, most cities have been restored. However, as Bruce and Kara look over a city, Flash, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman walk in on them as Superman falls from the controls, having exhausted him as he impacts the floor. Kara and Diana dash to Kal-El to check on him.
"You're okay." Wonder Woman said in relief. She turns to see Aquaman and Black Adam making their entrance.
"I thought it was too late. But I can feel the heartbeat of Atlantis. Brainiac's work is undone." Aquaman reported.
"Not all of it. I couldn't save everyone." Superman replied as he is quickly regaining his strength.
"Other cities are still trapped. But some of them have been lost. Wiped from this ship's memory. Metropolis and Coast City are gone." Batman tells everyone. Hal doesn't seem to take this very well.
"But… we can still save them, right? Carol? My family?" Hal is afraid and is trying to hold back tears. Clark gets up and regrettably faces Hal.
"I'm sorry, Hal." Superman apologies as Kara and Diana help him.
"First Krypton, now Earth? No other worlds should suffer this." Wonder Woman suggested. Superman immediately gets what she's saying. The man of steel looks at Brainiac's body. He walks over and tightens his fists, ready to do what must be done, like he did to Joker. But Batman stops him.
"Clark, no!" Batman protested. Superman slowly stares at his former friend coldy. "Even if I agree he should die, we need him alive to save the rest of our cities."
"No we don't. With more time, and Cyborg's help, the ship will obey me." Superman tries to reassure him.
"Or we could lose more cities." Batman argued. He slowly lowers his hand towards his utility belt, sensing that he may want to rebuild his Regime.
"Bruce is right. We can't be sure." Flash backs him up.
"But we can be sure of is that Brainiac puts everyone at risk." Aquaman tells Superman.
"This is no different than Joker. If we killed him, it would have never come to this at all. Everyone would have agreed." Wonder Woman said.
"It was never that simple, Diana." Batman tells her.
"Yes it is, Bruce. Like you said, Metropolis and Coast City are gone." Superman starts to raise his voice. Batman slowly starts pulling something out. "How many more innocent people die before you can accept that some lives need to be taken?!"
This infuriates Bruce, as he swings a golden dagger at Superman's chest, causing him to fall to one knee in pain and his hand nearly completely covered in blood. Superman looks at it in shock.
"My powers. How did you do that?" Superman asked.
"Gold kryptonite. Courtesy of Firestorm." Batman told him.
"Get up, Kal." Wonder Woman tells him.
"Stay down. Enough exposure and you'll be depowered permanently." Batman warns him.
Superman gets up and the two big heroes glare at each other. Superman throws the first two punches, which Batman ducks and goes for an elbow strike, which Clark blocks, but exposes him to another cut from the gold kryptonite dagger to the right forearm. Batman was ready for another strike, but Superman quickly comes in and grabs both of Batman's arms, and with a strong grip, Batman drops the dagger, and Diana rushes and grabs the dagger. Seeing this, Clark grabs Bruce by the throat, in which Kara tries to stop her cousin.
"You don't wanna do this." Supergirl tries to reason with him. Before he could reply, Hal Jordan attacks him with a green fist attack from his green ring. Kara helps Bruce up.
"Stop, Clark! It's over!" Green Lantern tells him. Of course, he doesn't listen. The two get ready to fight, but Black Adam grabs Kara from behind and holds her in place.
Before Wonder Woman could help, Flash grabs her by her arms, but she quickly breaks free from his grasp and elbows him in the face. Superman punches Hal backwards, but he recovers and creates a shield to stop his attacks before he flies out of the way and creates a giant green hand and throws him out of the ship and gives chase.
Aquaman tries to stab Batman with his trident, which Batman responds by throwing down a smoke bomb, causing him to choke. Batman jumps and delivers a kick to the head, followed by three punches and a kick to the face. Aquaman tries to stab him once more, but Bruce grabs his trident and tries to reason with him.
"Arthur, don't do this! You don't want to follow Clark!" Batman tells him.
"I'm not following anyone!" Aquaman corrects him before kicking him backwards. "You never understood, Atlantis, Bruce! We are ancient people with an old-fashioned sense of justice!" The two begin to fight.
Batman jumps over Aquaman, but is met with the endpoint of the trident to the elbow and left rib cage and a knee strike to the chin. Arthur throws his trident, but Bruce jumps over it and delivers two punches to the chest, a punch to the right kneecap and scoops him off his feet and backflip kicks him in his back, sending Arthur back. He throws batarangs, which Aquaman blocks with his trident before he tries to thrust his weapon forward, but Batman bends backwards and grabs the weapon, back kicks him across the face, punches his right shoulder and uses his grapple gun, attaches it to the trident and pulls himself in and kicks Aquaman backwards and throwing a small shock bomb, briefly electrocuting him.
"Atlantis needs to get in with the times." Batman said.
"Silence! You do not get to talk about my home and what they should do!" Aquaman said in anger as he continues to try to thrust and kill Batman, but he once more grabs it, kicks Aquaman backwards and stabs his right leg with the trident, forcing him to a knee. Batman has won.
"I'm tired of fighting you, Arthur." Batman lamented. While he still sees Aquaman as a friend and understands that he wishes to remain neutral, he hates how Arthur has changed.
Black Adam continues to shock Supergirl, knowing that Kryptonians are weak to magic. Batman tries to help, but Black Adam stops him with his powers and briefly weakens him. Black Adam stops attacking Kara and tackles Batman and they both go off the ship. Flash manages to outpace Wonder Woman, knocking her down with a punch before rushing over to help Kara.
"Batman knew they'd double cross him. We have to move. We need to help him." Supergirl said.
"We need to stop your cousin. Who knows what will happen if he gets control of this ship. I'm sorry, but we could try to reason with him." Flash tells her. Supergirl sighs, hoping that they're right. She can't stand how her cousin has become corrupted.
Outside, Black Adam holds Batman by the throat, the latter struggles to break free. He tries to headbutt him to break free, but while it did hurt him, it didn't loosen his grip.
"You wish to fall? So be it." Black Adam drops Batman hundreds of stories high into the sky. Batman regains his momentum and spreads his cape out and glides down to safety in a partially ruined part of a city. As he regained his footing, Black Adam descended upon him.
"Go back to Kahndaq, Adam. Stay here, and you'll be prosecuted." Batman said to him.
"You'd have to capture me, Batman. And I underestimated you for the last time." Black Adam replied before they fight.
Black Adam flies towards Batman, grabs his suit, shocks and throws him down to the ground, back first. He rolls back before Adam could fire more lightning at him. Batman slides under his feet, sending Adam upward before Batman jumps and does a punch to the chest followed by a kick. He sees a big drone hovering over them and throws it at Black Adam, causing it to explode and send him backwards. Adam flies back in and flies over Batman, does a kick to the back and proceeds to do a punch across the back, the back of the head and uppercuts him in the back and puts both hands onto Batman, shocking him before sending him back. Batman gets up, only to receive a elbow to the chin, a punch to the shoulder before Black Adam sends him back with two fists slamming down onto his head.
Batman recovers and knows he has to end this quick. Black Adam flies and tries to kick him, but he grabs his leg and back and throws him. Batman jumps forward to avoid lightning, brings out two batarangs, bring them up to Black Adam's neck, electrocutes him, knees him in the forehead and backflip kicks him in the chin, sending Adam flying. He recovers, only for Batman to push a button, an antigravity device planted on his leg, forcing him down to the ground and allowing Batman to uppercut him in the chest and elbow him on top of his head and delivers a strong kick to the face, sending Black Adam crashing right onto the front of an abandoned movie theater, back first. Black Adam grunts in a lot of pain, but falls to the ground, defeated.
"All that ancient wisdom. Wasted." Batman roasts him. "Supergirl. Where are you?"
"They're following me. Kal-El and Diana." Supergirl tells him.
"Good. Lead them to the batcave." Batman replied. Standing on the empty streets, Batman's ride, the batmobile approaches him before it spins and stops right before him. The caped crusader hops into the car and quickly drives off.
Green Lantern and Superman struggle against each other as they fall from the sky. Superman eventually gains the advantage by holding Hal by his neck as they crash through a broken train-track bridge. Superman stood up, not a scratch on him. Green Lantern gets up, a bit injured, but alive.
"How could you be against me, Hal? Brainiac took Coast City from you." Superman reminds him. "Think about Carol and your child. He has to pay with his life.
Hal's eyes begin turning red as his voice suddenly got deeper, repeating the word 'rage'. But Hal manages to regain his senses and his eyes go back to normal.
"No, Clark. My rage won't bring back Carol. Just like your rage couldn't save Lois Lane." Hal said to him in defiance.
This causes Superman to get angry instead, as he goes for an uppercut. Green Lantern creates a shield with his ring and blocks it, but it wouldn't stop him from going backwards and hitting a wall. Hal recovers and makes a green bubble around Kal-El before kicking him backwards as Superman rolls and stumbles. He gets up, but is met with a giant green fist from the ring, sending him even farther. Hal flies to his location and find where he is. Superman's eyes glow red as he fires heat vision at Hal, shooting him down from the sky. Superman flies in and rams Green Lantern across a couple of buildings.
Hal is hurt, but he was not gonna go down without a fight. Landing on a roof, Hal sees Superman coming for him. He uses his ring to throw debris at Superman, but he destroys them all with his heat vision. Left with no choice, Green Lantern creates a green wrecking ball and swings it at Superman, knocking him off the building and does another swing, sending him down to the ground. Superman lays in the crater in the ground, and Green Lantern summons a green anchor to drop on him as Hal nosedives along with it. Superman moves at the last second and kicks Hal in the chest hard, cracking it greatly, and he bounces off a building, cracking his back and Superman comes in, punches him in the forehead, greatly cracking his skull. Superman grabs Green Lantern and throws him down to the ground, just about beating him.
Hal gets back up, but is very dazed. Superman continuously punches him across the face. But when Green Lantern tries to use his ring, Superman grabs his ring fist and within seconds, crushes it, breaking Green Lantern's hand, causing him to scream in a lot of pain. Now with his ring useless, Superman was about to finish him until Flash and Supergirl grab his arms. But he pushes them off of him, sending Hal down in the process. Kara and Barry get up.
"Kal-El, stop! These are your friends!" Kara tries to tell him.
"My friends should be helping me instead of standing in my way." Superman replied. The two cousins go at it with each other, with Superman overpowering Supergirl. He shows no regret as he throws her and she crashes through a building. Flash comes in and does fast strong punches to his gut. Superman can feel the pain, but then he uses his super breath to push Barry backwards, allowing Superman to uppercut him and send him into a building. Looks like the back of a movie theater.
"This is all on you, Barry. When you betrayed me, the Regime went down. And because of you, we were left vulnerable to Brainiac. You shouldn't have lost your nerve!" Superman reminds him.
"I lost my nerve when I didn't stand up to you the first time, Clark. Never again." Flash fired back. He showed no regret in betraying Superman after the latter killed Shazam when he questioned Superman's decision to liberate Metropolis and Gotham.
Flash rapidly throws a punch of objects and debris at Superman, causing the latter to stumble backwards. Clark flies in, only for Flash to grab his arm, spin in place before throwing him through a window, crashing through a helicopter before he falls to the ground. Superman quickly gets back up and tries to punch Flash, but he ducks and does rapid punches to the chest, a backhand strike to the face followed by a punch and two punches to the gut and a horse kick to the chin. Superman fires his heat vision at Flash, who dodges and was about to run up behind Superman, but he jumps up in the air and punches the ground, narrowly missing Flash and causing him to stumble. Superman throws three punches, but hits the wall three times before backhanding Barry across the chest, sending him down.
Flash gets back up and grabs Superman and runs swings him down on several cars, that was until Superman breaks free from his grasp and throws him across the walls of two buildings. Flash comes back by running across other buildings, jumps and was about to punch Superman, but he grabs Flash by the shoulders and punches him in the chest, cracking it and sending him down. Flash, while weakened, finds the strength to get up and suddenly dashes off. Superman doesn't even fly after him. He stands where he is. He listens for sounds of movement. He looks to where Flash is coming and uses his ice breath to freeze the ground. Flash was too late to react as he slips on the ice and was coming toward Superman. He proceeds to grab Flash by the head, kick his right knee, making him scream in pain as Superman lifts him into the air and punches him to the ground, defeating him.
"Stand up to that." Superman said in disgust.
"Kal!" Supergirl comes in.
"I can't forgive you so easily this time, Kara." Superman said to her, still looking at Flash's body.
"There is still hope! I know that you're afraid for everybody. That has been happening ever since you lost your wife Lois." Kara said.
"I used to be afraid. Afraid that my powers would make people fear me. Afraid of who I'd hurt if I wasn't careful every second of every day. I spent my whole life holding back. And that is what cost me Lois. And my child. That's why I don't hold back anymore!" Superman said as he turns to Kara, ready to take her down next.
Supergirl flies out of the building with Superman chasing after her. She looks back and sees him tight on her heel with Diana following them.
"They're following me." Supergirl commed to someone.
After being chased across the city, Supergirl flies through the ground, leaving a big hole as Superman and Wonder Woman follow her.
In the batcave, Batman is at his computer, having finished working on a secret project. A capsule opens as Batman stares at what is inside.
Nearby, Kara continues running with Superman and Wonder Woman, not letting up. She suddenly stops to face them. They stop as well.
"She let us right to him. No accident that she brought us here." Wonder Woman realized.
"Of course it isn't." Batman shouted. He lands on the ground wearing a new suit of armor. His armor is now more grey-ish and there are green lines around it. It is apparent that his suit is enhanced with Kryptonite.
"I warned him about Diana. But I didn't think you'd turn on me, Kal." Supergirl said, remembering when Diana stabbed Harleen Quinn and nearly killed her despite Batman telling everyone to not kill anyone, and thus exposed her true, cold nature.
Superman nods to Wonder Woman before flying off to face his own cousin. Wonder Woman brings out her sword and shield to face Batman.
"This is the last time, Bruce. No more secrets, no more schemes." Wonder Woman glares at him with hatred.
"Schemes? I'm not the one who stoked Clark's worst fears." Batman points out her hypocrisy, given how she manipulated Superman from the start and taught Kara about "honor" despite trying to kill both Cheetah and Harleen.
Wonder Woman attacks him with her sword, but he blocks it with his gauntlet, gives her two punches across the face and a strong kick, sending her backwards.
"To pacify man's world, Kal needed steel, not compassion." Wonder Woman blindly claimed.
"But you didn't bring peace. You started a war." Batman said before they continue fighting.
Batman throws batarangs, which Wonder Woman blocks with her gauntlets and flies and hits Batman in the head with her sword hilt followed by a kick to the head and throws her shield at his chest, cracking it as he falls backwards. Batman shakes off the injuries, only for Diana to use her lasso of truth to grab him, pull him towards her and she elbows him in the face followed by a punch to the forehead and uppercuts him in the stomach before eagle kicking him in the back, sending him down. Batman throws a smoke bomb down and disappears, only for him to swing with his grapple gun and kick Wonder Woman in the back, sending her forward and jumps and does a dive kick to her back.
Batman jumps off of her and backs up. Wonder Woman tightens the grip on her sword and was going to take him down, regardless of whether she wants to kill him or not. She throws her shield at the ground and it bounces around, forcing Batman to jump over the shield and roll forward. But Diana expected this and jump kicks Batman in the chest, does two punches to his stomach and kicks him in the right leg, knees his chin before flying and uppercutting him, sending him in the air. She wraps the lasso around his leg and throws him down. Wonder Woman then shield bashes him once in the face, but when she was gonna do it again, Batman grabs it and Diana was about to headbutt him, but Bruce grabs her forehead, shocks her with his glove, kicks her backwards and losing the grip on her shield. Batman throws the shield at her forehead, knocking her down and completely out cold.
"Your war is over, Diana." Batman said to her.
Elsewhere in the cave, Kal and Kara continue to battle it out.
"You should want Brainiac dead more than anyone for what he did to Krypton. Instead you're undermining me." Superman said.
"If only father could see you. When General Zod tried to conquer Krypton, Kor-El fought against him. That's who you come from! That's who you are, Kal!" Supergirl replied while gesturing to the symbol.
"If he was like General Zod, he would have saved Krypton. And I will save the Earth!" Superman said, disgusting her. They resume fighting.
They both fire heat vision at each other. Superman's is slowly starting to overpower Kara's given how she still hasn't fully recovered from the kryptonite due to Brainiac holding her prisoner. Kara breaks it off, flies up and rams into her cousin and punches him across the face three times before he grabs her fist and kicks her off. He shoots heat vision again, but Kara dodges it and punches his chest two times before backflip kicking him, sending him flying, allowing Supergirl to grab his cape, throw him and flies in for a kick to the back. Superman recovers, punches Supergirl in the gut, grabs her throat and throws her down, face first.
Supergirl gets to her knees and finds herself struggling. She stands up and charges at Superman, who goes for a strong punch but misses as she sped behind him and knees his back, throws him into the ceiling and as he falls, she goes for a dive kick, only for Kal-El to block it, and throw her through some brick pillars while using his super breath on her, sending her even farther and into a brick wall. Supergirl had to think and uses a metal pillar from the ceiling and rams it towards her cousin like a battering ram, sending him upward. Before Kara could thrust it down onto him, Superman grabs it, kicks Kara away before swinging it at her head. Then he finally does a strong punch to the back of her head, sending Kara back and hitting the ground, defeating her.
Superman walks over to her with a sad look on his face. Despite them being on opposite sides, he still cares about his cousin and loves her deep down. "I'm sorry, Kara." After lamenting defeated her, he stands up to face his longtime friend turned enemy.
"Fighting on the same side. Just like the old times. I guess we both knew it would end this way." Superman said.
"Do you remember that night? When you told me that Lois was pregnant?" Batman asked. This makes Superman chuckle.
"You knew before I actually told you. Because of how I was shaking and the tone in my voice." Superman smirked.
"That was a good memory from another lifetime. I miss the people we were then." Batman said.
"Me too." Superman said. Within seconds after a couple moments of silence, he suddenly sucker punches Batman in the chest, sending him back. But he slides to a knee and recovers quickly. He looks up and sees him flying down, eyes glowing red. "Quit, Bruce. You can't win."
"You of all people should know, Clark. I never quit." Batman stands in defiance before they fight. This was it. The fight to determine the fate of the Justice League. And for Earth.
Superman throws the punch, knocking Batman into some technology and computers before he uses his heat vision to fire at Batman and stomp onto his back. Thankfully, his armor is very durable. But before Clark can execute a punch to his head, Batman throws down kryptonite gas bomb, blinding Superman and making him choke, allowing him to uppercut him, punch him in the chest and across the face before grabbing his arms, rolls backwards and kicks Superman in the gut, sending him back before Batman kicks him in the back once Clark got up. He tries to go for a punch, but Batman, knowing that he is weakened by the Kryptonite, blocks it and gives Superman three punches to the face, a side kick to the gut, an elbow strike to the neck, and a reverse kick to the chest, sending Clark into a wall.
Superman recovers and he fires his heat vision at Batman, who blocks them with his enhanced gauntlets and throws a few batarangs, which Superman dodges and rams into Batman, punching him and elbowing him before throwing him through the ceiling, outside the cave and onto the streets. Superman was about to stomp onto his chest, but Batman rolls out of the way and delivers a kick to the face, slightly stumbling Superman. Before Batman could execute another kick, Superman grabs his leg and throws him through another empty building and punches him in the head, cracking his skull. Superman comes in, but Batman slams him into a wall and gives him a punch to the face… but Superman doesn't feel anything and with one push, Batman is sent through another wall.
Batman recovers and needs to end this, or else the world may be doomed asecond time to his former ally. Before Superman could fly into him, he rolls out of the way and behind him and attaches a bomb to his back. It explodes in Kryptonite, injuring Superman even further before Batman punches his chest once and with his gauntlets, cuts his chest open further while enhanced in kryptonite and throws enhanced batarangs, cutting Superman's shoulders. He throws a batarang down, creating kryptonite smoke, shocking him with two batarangs, kicking him further, throwing another batarang at him, exploding before his batmobile comes out of nowhere. Batman jumps over the car and it runs over Superman instead, sending him very far.
Superman is very weak. He barely manages to get to a knee as Batman approached. His hands glowing green with kryptonite. Superman tries to launch at him, but Batman reacts in time and gives Clark three strong punches to the face, a kick to the chest, two punches to the left rib cage before throwing one last strong punch to his face, causing Superman to fall onto his chest. Clark tries to stay awake and pull himself up, but with all the exposure to the Kryptonite, he finally passes out.
With his energy drained, Batman falls to both of his knees as his suit stops glowing green. Supergirl flies to the surface and puts a hand on Batman, hoping he's okay.
"Is he…." Kara asked.
"He'll be out for more than a while." Batman assures her before turning to her directly. "I'm sorry, Kara."
"For what?" Kara asked in confusion.
"I couldn't save him." Batman apologizes. He wished that if he could go back and change one thing, he would keep his friend from becoming corrupted at the hands of Joker and could have possibly saved his family.
The Fortress of Solitude. Superman's home away from home. He is cuffed to green Kryptonite. Batman is there, and has activated gold Kryptonite lights, all focusing on Superman. Clark stands there menacingly as his powers are taken away permanently. After enough exposure, the lights turn off.
"Kara. It's safe now." Batman signals her. Supergirl comes down and she reaches out to her cousin slowly. But Clark is still confident.
"Even without my powers, the Phantom Zone can't hold me forever. I'll be back." Superman declared.
"And we'll be ready." Batman said as he pushes a button and a portal to the Phantom Zone opens. Supergirl approaches her cousin.
"Kal. I don't… I wish–"
"We were family, Kara." Superman feels betrayed. He tries to guilt trip his cousin, but she doesn't fall for it.
"We still are. I hope that one day you will see that." Supergirl said with sadness.
Superman said nothing. He turns to make his way into the portal. But then he stops and stares as Batman, his former friend before he steps through the Phantom Zone as it closes. He is now banished. Batman approaches Kara out of worry.
"Are you alright?" Batman asked her.
"No. This symbol was meant to give people hope. But Kal. He made them fear it." Supergirl stated.
"That symbol's meaning is up to the person who wears it. When Clark and I founded the Justice League, we didn't govern people. We protected them. Plain and simple. Maybe the world could use a team like that again. Welcome to the circle of trust." Batman extended his hand to Kara.
Supergirl smiles as she shakes Batman's hand, now the newest member of Batman's group. Those who sided with Batman approach the two. Among them are Harley Quinn, Hal Jordan with his hand healed up, Flash, Green Arrow aka Oliver Queen, Black Canary aka Dinah, Blue Beetle, Catwoman and Firestorm. Harley, still recovering from her stab wound, hugs Kara.
"Yay. Blondie is now newbie." Harley smiles.
"Harley. Are you alright?" Kara asked in concern.
"I've been worse. But way to kick butt out there, bash some heads in my place and such. Once I'm outta bed, we could celebrate. Saving the world and having newbies on our side is always the bestest thing ever." Harley said, putting an arm around Kara.
"Yeah. You showed that ugly green alien who's boss. Guy got what he deserved. Wish I could've been there." Blue Beetle said, smirking a bit.
"Hey, new girl. Sorry about the kryptonite radiation thing earlier. Hope it's no hard feelings." Firestorm apologizes to her.
"It's fine. The past is the past, right? I mean, we're friends now. So I can easily forgive you." Kara smiled, fistbumping his shoulder.
"Another kryptonian. A good one too. Never heard of you from my world. I'm Oliver." Green Arrow said, shaking her hand.
"You can call me Kara." Supergirl nodded to him.
"And you can call me Dinah. I think we'll get along just fine…. As long as you don't touch Oliver. He's mine." Dinah joked as she hugged Kara, much to her surprise. Catwoman approaches Batman.
"You sure about this?" Catwoman has some doubts.
"I'm sure. Kara isn't like Clark. How she reacted, how she found out. It hit her hard. She deserves a place among us." Batman replied.
"What do we do now? Damian and Cyborg are still out there. Arthur has went back to Atlantis and Diana and Adam are locked up tight, like you asked." Catwoman reminds him. "And not to mention, some of the other assholes that were with Gorilla Grodd and Brainiac."
"We will find them. But not today. One thing at a time. We need to build a better future. And redeem the Justice League." Batman said, suddenly grabbing Selina's hand, much to her surprise. She and Batman smile at each other as they look on at the other members welcoming Kara. Soon, the Justice League will return.
Elsewhere, deep in space, a big, red planet larger than any star in the universe is hidden away within the cosmos. Known as the planet Apokolips. The sky is nearly dark red like blood and its cities and technology are highly advanced compared to Earth. Inhabited by strange creatures known as Parademons. Hundreds of them fly to what appears to be a fortress.
Inside the fortress, a tall, gray alien in heavy armor approaches his throne with his counselor named DeSaad and his general Steppenwolf. They pace back and forth in the long hallway surrounded by huge torches. The Parademons all surround the building and bend the knee before their great leader. This leader has conquered many worlds and destroyed them, hence the many planets marked off on his walls everywhere inside his throne room. This leader, a New God, was Darkseid.
"Steppenwolf. Speak to me at once." Darkseid demanded.
"My lord and master. My minions have found reports that the alien Brainiac has been defeated by a group of metas. Amazons, Atlanteans, humans, a Green Lantern and kryptonians. There are two now. And the one responsible for the murder of your son has been imprisoned within the Phantom Zone. His powers are stripped away." Steppenwolf falls to his knees before his master.
"Good. Now he will know what it will feel like to be powerless when he took my son's life. Keep a watch on these so-called 'heroes'. If they spot your minions, do not let them hesitate to fight."
"There is still another kryptonian on Earth. And she is alive and well and protecting the planet alongside this Justice League." DeSaad reminds him.
"She is of no concern to me. She has spirit and skill, but her lack of experience with outside threats poses no threat to me. My history with kryptonians has remained alive within the family. They may have beaten the rulers before me, but it will change." Darkseid remains intimidating and confident.
"What is your next step? Some of the heroes have been taken prisoner. Word has it that they will be taken to Oa for trial." DeSaad tells his master.
"We will prepare our armada. A piece of my Mother Box technology is on Earth. They will return. And when they do, so will the imprisoned kryptonian. We must find it. Find it before anyone else does. DeSaad. Go to Earth. Find it. Find the Anti-Life Equation." Darkseid tells his counselor. He bows his head and leaves the throne room. This leaves Darkseid alone with his uncle and general Steppenwolf.
"My liege. Allow me to rip those kryptonians limb from limb for you. They drew blood from the family. It cannot go unpunished." Steppenwolf offered.
"There will be plenty of flesh and blood for you, general. But the two kryptonians are mine. And without them, I will change the fate of the entire universe." Darkseid ordered him without facing him. He looks up and sees a huge spot missing within the ceiling. A planet. He intends to put Earth in the middle of it.
Note: Happy New Year, everyone! And happy new story for you all! And this time, it is a crossover. For this story, I've played both Injustice games, watched the Dc animated movies and read some comics for these characters to prepare for this story. This will take place after Next Protectors Ascend and Batman's ending in Injustice 2. And it'll be split into two parts. I hope you enjoy the first chapter!
