Chapter 1672 What lurks in the dark?
I don't own Bleach or any of the powers and gear used in this story.
Leonidas was alone in a dark room to get some peace as he locked the door behind him and made sure nobody was listening from Big Green.
"This... This is something I have discovered that could change how we view something as mundane as sleep."
He takes out a old book that was decayed but he managed to fix it to learn it's secrets.
It talked about a special experiment where a group of scientists tried to see how the human body can be affected without sleep.
They got inmates to test it on and put them inside a chamber as a gas filled them inside.
"They filled the place and the inmates didn't feel any different, but then as the next day passed madness happened. They started to go crazy and begging to be out. As the days passed many of them did crazier things and even covering the windows with they're own... Feces. Until they didn't move, they didn't do anything yet the scientists could still tell that they were alive."
This caused many from the experiment to be disturbed a bit.
"So the scientists asked them they could leave if they lied down on the ground once they opened the door. But they responded they didn't want to leave."
Leonidas rubs his head since this is something that gets intense.
"The orders were then given to go inside either way as soldiers entered only to see the place covered in gore with the inmates with scratches caused by themselves as they were the sight of a nightmare."
"The creatures that were once the inmates attacked the soldiers causing them to be injured and some died, until they were finally subdued. After that they were operated to fix the damage done to them while the inmates asked for more gas."
He frowns hearing more of the story.
"Some have died when put into sleep for operation while one enjoyed being cut while awake. The general once ordered for a scientist to be inside with them as more gas is given but the scientist shoots the general and kills the other monsters until he leaves one saying: I'm not going to be stuck with you, not with you. What are you?! I must know!"
The subject smiled at him. "Have you forgotten so easily? We are you. We are the madness that lurks within you all, begging to be free in your deepest animal mind. We are what you hide in your beds every night. we are what you sedate into silence and paralysis when you go to your nocturnal haven where we cannot tread."
"The scientist then takes a deep moment before shooting it in the heart before it mutters: so... Nearly... Free."
Leonidas sighs. "This experiment just opened a lot of things, as it shows what sleep is important to all of us to keep ones sanity. But what if these things are not just in humans, sleep is part of everything living creature that needs it. Be it animal, humans, vampires and even demons, many have to sleep and if they stopped could these things take over they're bodies."
Imagine if every creature that needs to sleep to just suddenly stopped sleeping. What would happen to them, would they be fine or would they're bodies be taken over by that dark side.
The gas was not the cause of it, it was just a tool to not let them sleep, what happened was the effects that happened when you don't sleep. The reason why they're bodies could still move after so much damage was most likely they're bodies adapted to a way that made them to survive.
"If theres something supernatural about it, then it can be even more dangerous, but the only people I know wouldn't be affected are the outer gods since they made all of existance." Leonidas said.
He is studying to make the opposite if someone should start not to sleep for a long time. He would make sure they have a good night sleep since it's the only way to prevent those creatures from taking over they're bodies.
"Honestly this reminds me of that creature called the tingler, which comes from a creature that feeds off the fear through the tingling sensation on your spine. The only way to stop that thing is by screaming."
He's been studying these things about how certain creatures can feed off the body of a human through certain aspects that it needs to live.
"I want to make sure those things don't come out. As the most fundamental parts that you need to live, if they are taken can lead to disasters in the future."
Leonidas wants to stop any creature like them, that are out there haunting any living being. Either they be human or from the supernatural, as they don't care because they exist in some form.
He wonders how many other creatures like them exist, theres many parts a living being needs, be it eating or even smiling. So what could they be.
He goes out to get some fresh air as he stands on top of the base. Watching the sun as it's like a nice signal of everything is in peace now.
"We can't let those things spread. Should the day you feel fear and have to scream or even go to bed, do it because they are what keeps us safe from the real monsters lurking to get us."
Note: Leonidas has been showing some of the research he found and the first was that of a certain creepypasta that is well known compared to others.
