Curtain Call

Chapter 38

Days Later

Rachel sat there and listened as Brooke explained her recent encounter with Lucas.

(It sounds like things are finally moving in the right direction with the two of you.)

(This is a good thing. A positive thing. You should listen to him.)

(Take him seriously.) Haley encouraged.

(Of course you would say that. You're his best friend.)

(Brooke has believed him before and that's only got her heart broken.) Rachel proclaimed.

(People can and do change. But you wouldn't know anything about that.) Haley replied.

(I need advice. And lay off of Rachel. She has changed.) Brooke proclaimed.

You and Lucas love each other. The rest the two of you can figure out.) Haley insisted.

(How exactly is Lucas different than before?) Rachel asked.

(In alot more ways than you know. The three of them are a family.)

(Something you would know nothing about.) Haley proclaimed.

(I'm going to go.) Rachel said. As she made her way towards the front door to leave.

(Let her go. This is about putting together the three of you.)

(She just wouldn't understand. Rachel isn't like us Brooke. It's about time you realize it.) Haley insisted.

Rachel made her way home. She went into the bedroom her and Mouth shared.

She sighed deeply. And made her into the bathroom.

She lifted her shirt and stared down at her stomach.

She was in her early 30's now. For years now.

Her and Mouth had been struggling to get pregnant.

And the process had been frustrating and emotional.

Taking a strong hold on their marriage.

She knew the reason they didn't have a family was because of her. And given her drug history past. She knew the possibility of adoption would be a journey.

But her husband not getting to be a father.

Was hurting her. She longed to be a mother.

To have that unconditional love she never experienced.

She was so lost in her own thoughts that she hadn't noticed Mouth had been in the bedroom.

(Do you ever regret choosing to spend you're life with me?) Rachel asked.

(I love you. I'm in love with you. I would do it all again. You're my soul mate.) Mouth proclaimed.

(But I can't give you a family. You deserve to be a dad.) Rachel said. Her voice breaking with emotion.
