Chapter 10: Dangerous Foes Rising
At the batcave, Bruce Wayne is informed of the Titans mission being completed. And there was more info. Apparently Doctor Polaris has built a special, bigger satellite with whatever his abilities are. And they were unable to destroy it.
"So who is Doctor Polaris? It's such a ridiculous name." Blue Beetle asked.
"I managed to identify Doctor Polaris. He was once known as Neal Emerson. He was a medical student in college who studied magnetism. He became obsessed with the laws and health via magnetism and thought that he could gain more energy by exposing himself to magnetic fields. He developed suits such as the one Hal Jordan sent me a picture of." Bruce Wayne posts a picture that everyone could see.
"Sounds… pretty advanced." Wonder Girl commented.
"According to his criminal records, he went rogue after his power drove him mad and he committed robberies at box office lectures. He tried to get Hal's ring, hoping to drain off the excess energy, but it only made him more power-hungry. He defeated him time and time again, but has broken out and his lab and research were destroyed during the rise of the Regime. And now with the Regime gone, he's back to planning." Batman said.
"We tried to take out that huge satellite, but there were too many weapons, including kryptonite. And Starfire got hurt, but she'll be fine." Superboy said.
"It is alright." Batman reassures him. "We'll find a way. For now, remain at the tower and don't do anything reckless." Batman instructed before signing off.
"So what now?" Catwoman asked.
"We'll keep an eye out for where the satellite is pointing. Whatever it is, it can't be good." Batman said. Catwoman approaches and places a hand on his shoulder.
"Some things never change, don't they?" Catwoman sighed.
"No they don't." Batman stood up and looked at his love. "Things have changed since Brainiac. Though I wish some of our other friends were still here. J'onn J'onzz, Alfred, James Gordon, Billy Batson….. And Dick."
Catwoman is one of those few people who can tell that even Wayne can be emotional at some points. The moment she heard about Dick's death, she had to be there for him to provide emotional support. She grabs his hand for comfort.
"I miss him too, Bruce." Catwoman stares into his eyes. "I'm sure that if he were here, he would be proud of how far you've come. How you've saved us time and time again. And I'm pretty sure he would've done the same thing if he were in your big bat shoes and if you were gone instead." Catwoman leans in and kisses Bruce's cheek.
"I know. He was a pain to deal with when he was a kid. And he grew up. Dick was always willing to lay down his life for us. But he deserved more. And I think he would've been glad to see you here." Bruce said. He places a hand on her cheek and kisses her. She smiles as she returns the kiss.
Everyone was surprised to see someone like Bruce in a relationship with Catwoman. At first, they were often on opposite sides, but Selina Kyle was never truly pure evil like Joker, Brainiac, Gorilla Grodd, and possibly even Superman. It took more than a while for everyone to trust her. Only ones that trusted her at first were Bruce and Harleen.
Down in the hidden tech labs, many floating spheres have remained hidden underground and out of danger from anyone who would dare to steal or destroy them. This of course, includes Krypton. It has taken Batman and Mister Terrific a long time to understand Brainiac's technology. Sure, they could have chosen to kill him, but Batman didn't want to chance Superman taking the ship for himself and revive the Regime.
Bruce, Mister Terrific and Barry are all working hard to restore Krypton. They managed to restore all of Earth's cities, but Krypton was a whole new level. Bruce would never disappoint his friends and he is hoping to make Kara happy again. She had a family on Krypton and she has friends on Earth that trust her. Kara helped Bruce fight Brainiac and her own cousin. And Bruce is willing to help her by any means.
After getting off work, Kara came down the stairs with a frustrated expression on her face. But at least she's away from work and that she is visiting her friends while eating a hot dog. Kara, without a doubt, prefers her job as Supergirl than her human job.
"Hey guys." Kara called out while finishing her food. "How's it going down here?"
"You're just in time, Kara." Barry smiled at her. "Bruce and Michael have something to show you."
Kara couldn't help but wonder what Flash meant by that. She could only hope that they can provide some good news for her. She follows Barry to where Bruce and Michael have been working. She notices the T spheres hovering around the lab as a security measure just in case someone tries to break in here.
"Kara. How are you doing today?" Michael asked.
"Same as usual. Dealing with my boss with an ego, been talking with some human friends there named Wyatt and Jimmy. They're really smart and kind." Kara smiled.
"They found out about your identity, didn't they?" Batman asked. Kara then showed a look of guilt.
"I didn't tell anyone. They found out because of the tone of my voice and thought I look similar to their friend." Kara admitted with her hands up.
"I know you didn't tell them. It happens to some of us." Batman said. Kara is relieved to hear that he's not mad.
"You knew? What gave me away?" Kara asked.
"From my experience, people as smart as you or your friends would see through one's disguise and figure out your identity. It's happened to me and Clark. But you should always be careful. An earth saying. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer." Bruce advised.
"I get it alright. But that's not why you called me here, isn't it?" Kara figured it out.
"No. There is something I want to show you." Bruce gestured for her to follow.
As she follows, Kara Zor-El couldn't help but feel her hands shake. This happens everytime she enters the lab. She hated seeing all these cities and planets stored in Brainiac's collection. All the people that suffered and died in the process.
Bruce puts in a code and the door opens to another part of the lab and turns the lights on. This room is nearly completely all white. To Kara, it looks very futuristic and advanced, so not as advanced as technology on Krypton. Like taken out of a sci-fi movie. Last time she was down here, there weren't as many collections as there used to be.
"We're back here? What's going on?" Kara was confused.
"I figured you'd ask. And I have some good news for you." Bruce said. He presses a button and Krypton comes up with precise calculations, coordinates and scientific stuff. "We're finally close, Kara. Close to restoring your home planet Krypton."
Kara couldn't believe her eyes and ears at what Batman just said. She never thought that she would be able to see her home planet again. And she once heard Bruce express his doubts about restoring the planet. But by looking at him, he looks pleased to feel wrong about Kara's home.
"You….. are you serious? How? I thought my home was going to be beyond repair. I didn't think we'd be able to help." Kara expressed her shock.
"It has taken me a year to understand how Krypton works. Me and Michael have worked hard to hell and back to find a way to restore everything. And Krypton was the most difficult to analyze. Yet, I did not want to give up. I never have and never will. And I just wish for you to be happy. The last thing I would want to do is break my promises to anyone in the Justice League, you included." Batman explained.
Kara listened carefully to Bruce. Ever since joining his circle of trust, she has gotten to know him and everyone on a daily basis. And understood the real truth on what happened the day Joker corrupted her cousin. Kara realized she and Bruce have one thing in common and that is losing their loved ones too quickly.
"I…. I don't know what to say. Bruce. You guys taught me so much, and yet everyday I struggle to win everyone's trust on his planet. And I don't blame them for what Kal-El did. I do wish to bring hope to Earth. Now I wish to bring it to Krypton. I may not be a huge science girl, but I am willing to help you. Just like you helped me." Kara smiled and fights her own tears.
"I'm sure that your family and your people will be pleased to hear about your actions here and the lengths you went through to help us and them." Bruce assures Supergirl.
"So? Where should we start?" Kara asked.
"Well, first off, you know galaxies and star systems more than anyone. So I was going to let you pick the right one. Where Krypton would be safe. You've read about them throughout your life." Bruce tells her. He brings up a monitor of not just the solar system, but other systems as well.
Kara steps up and tries to think of where to place Krypton. She thinks about the galaxies she has read on Krypton, which ones are safe and which ones are not. Supergirl was about to pick one, until she hears a voice.
"Bruce!" Hal Jordan comes flying in.
"Hal? What's wrong?" Bruce asked.
"Diana. Adam. They've escaped custody after being found guilty." Hal reported.
"Escaped? How? From what I was told, Oa has some of the most secure prison ships in the galaxy. They couldn't have escaped on their own." Kara said.
"Damian and Cyborg. It's the only explanation." Bruce quickly figured.
"From what I was told, one of Brainiac's ships infiltrated the prison transporter and that's how Diana and Adam escaped. And what's worse, is they took the artifact from Oa during the trial." Hal told them.
"What artifact? I don't understand?" Kara is confused more.
"Some sort of Kryptonite. It looks silver-ish. I don't know what it does though." Hal said. Then Kara's eyes widened.
"Platinum Kryptonite?! That form of kryptonite is rare! Anyone who makes contact with it will gain the same powers that I have now! And yet, I don't think anyone would even try to use it on themselves." Kara explained.
"Clark. His powers are gone forever, but should he come in contact with it, he'll regain them. That's why I asked Hal to take it off world just in case your cousin were to break out." Batman said. "We need to hurry to the Fortress of Solitude before they do. It's our only chance of stopping them. Suit up, everyone."
Kara and Barry immediately rush out of the room and come back seconds later in their heroic suits. The new Justice League alongside Oliver and Dinah as well as Harleen and Selina head off in one of Batman's jets as they head to the Fortress of Solitude.
Brainiac's small ship has made its way back to Earth and is heading directly towards the Fortress of Solitude. Diana's group makes their way over as fast as possible.
"You do realize that Hal Jordan will alert Batman of our presence?" Adam asked Cyborg.
"We know. Batman never ignores anything, but he'll be too late when he realizes about our plan that we forged in case he defeated Superman." Cyborg responded.
"Oh, we're counting on it." Diana with a confident tone, "This time, we're prepared. We have a plan. Adam will distract them while the rest of us will work to free Kal-El. No holding back on anyone. Once we get Kal, we leave and head back to Kahndaq. The one place Batman can't reach us."
"I hope this outer space trip was worth it, Diana." Damian commented.
"The strong survive. The weak perish." Wonder Woman said to him as they fly closer to the Fortress of Solitude.
The Fortress of Solitude had new security built in by Bruce just in case someone were to try to sneak in. Lasers, missiles and stun guns just in case. Never set to kill. Diana isn't surprised by this, as she always deemed Batman weak-willed to not hold back on anything. Unfortunately, his tech does not come with detecting ships with cloaking technology. As they were able to sneak in effortlessly.
Diana's team lands in the cargo area within the Fortress. Most of the room is filled with junk and other used tech that Bruce was using to partially tear down the Fortress of Solitude. But he changed his mind since Kara rejoined and hoped that she would use it to learn of all the messages her uncle left for Kal-El.
"Not much has changed since me and Nightwing were here with Kal-El one year ago. It's not surprising." Black Adam said.
"Bruce probably decided to keep this place intact for Kara's sake. And to make sure no one tries to free Kal-El. It was a risky move on his part." Diana realized.
"Batman knew I would try to boom tube in here, so using the ship was the only way in or out." Cyborg remembered.
Cyborg hated how Batman could never fully trust anyone. When he first met Victor, he secretly implanted a virus within his systems to override him if needed and going as far as to reverse-engineer his armor to prevent him from infiltrating, otherwise, he would explode and die.
"That's why he was always an asshole." Damian groaned in annoyance. "Lucky for us, he's not the only one who knows how to work these controls to the Phantom Zone."
Damian shows them the main room with the big opening to the sun, where Superman had his powers taken away and locked in the Phantom Zone a year ago. He was about ready to get to work. But then, Cyborg detected something.
"Hey, heads up, y'all. We got incoming. A batwing. With everyone. Eight signals total." Cyborg warns everyone.
"Predictable as always." Wonder Woman tightened her grip. "Adam. You and Cyborg will keep them distracted. I will stay and guard Damian while he works."
Black Adam and Cyborg nod as they head out to near the entrance to confront the new Justice League, hoping to stall them as much as possible. As soon as they leave, Diana turns to Damian.
'How long will this take?" Diana asked.
"Almost there…. And done!" Damian finished typing. "We need to stall them long enough for the portal to open and I'll throw it in there."
"Good. Even they won't be fast enough to stop us. Not this time. He will make the next plan. If anyone knows Kal-El best, it's me. He always comes up with a brilliant plan." Wonder Woman smirked.
The Batjet lands in another part of the Fortress of Solitude followed by Supergirl and Green Lantern flying right behind them. Supergirl walks around and quickly begins picking up conversations between Diana and Damian.
"They're here already. And they're bringing the systems online to bring Kal-El back." Supergirl warned everyone.
"We need all the help we can get to keep him in there. Besides, he's not alone in the Phantom Zone." Catwoman suggested.
"There's no time. The Teen Titans are recovering from their battle, and they need to keep an eye out on any more Legion movements." Batman turns down the idea.
"Incoming!" Hal shouted. He projects a large, green medieval shield, which protects everyone from an incoming energy shot followed by lightning powers. Both shots did little effect on the shield before they stopped.
"Well lookie here! Captain Sparklefingers and robo-wimp are back!" Harleen joked, recognizing Cyborg and Black Adam.
"You dare mock us, child?" Black Adam glared at her.
"You dare mock us, child?" Harleen imitated jokingly before smiling.
"Should've known you and Diana would be able to break out. You're lucky that I asked the Guardians to spare y'all if you were found guilty." Green Lantern said.
"And yet, that proved to be a mistake. One that will prove to be your last." Black Adam warned as his hands light up with lightning.
"We'll hold them off. You guys go on!" Hal tells them. The Justice League head off to catch up to Diana and Damian to stop them. Hal takes on Black Adam while Harleen and Catwoman go up against Cyborg.
"We were allies once, Jordan. A pity that you reformed." Black Adam commented.
"I'm glad I got a second chance. You and Sinestro have one thing in common, and that is you're both terrible liars." Green Lantern fired back.
"You're nothing but a slave to the guardians." Black Adam said before they fight.
Green Lantern dodges a lightning to the face as he shoots a green beam at Adam, which makes contact to the chest, momentarily stunning him before punching him into an icy wall. He gets grabbed by a giant green hand, thrown and hit with a strong punch to the face before being kicked to the gut, punched across the face and another kick to the head before grabbing him with his ring and throwing him down to the ground. He creates a green mace to strike him, but Black Adam flies out of the way before it could make contact.
Adam takes the opportunity to backhand strike Hal across the face followed by a punch and zapping his ankles and striking lightning from above, stunning him before covering his hand in lightning as he strikes Green Lantern in the chest, sending him upwards. Black Adam flies up, lands one strike to the head before doing an electrical dive kick to the chest, sending Hal down to the ground. He gets back up, only to feel three more shock punches to the head and knocked back to the ground and head and nose both bleeding. Green Lantern shields himself before he could be struck and killed by lightning before creating a giant baseball bat, which he swings at Black Adam, knocking him into a wall before finally knocking him out with a giant green fist.
"And you're a slave to magic." Green Lantern insulted him before walking away. Selena and Harleen continue to fight Cyborg.
"I've been wanting to kick both of y'alls asses since I had to join up with the two of you in the batcave. Now I'm getting my wish." Cyborg said.
"Well give it your best shot, tinman." Harleen challenged him.
"With pleasure, crazy clown girl." Harleen said before they continue fighting.
Selena unsheathes her claws before she slashes across Cyborg's face twice before backhanding him followed by kneeing his metal chin and backflip kicking him in the face, causing him to stumble backwards. This allows Harleen to jump behind him and do two kicks to the back of the head before swinging her giant mallet at his metal back, sending him into Catwoman. Selena then proceeds to kick Cyborg in the air and swings a quick series of claw strikes to multiple parts of his body before he goes down.
Cyborg, despite some minor injuries, manages to get back up. He avoids a dive kick from Catwoman and does a punch to her neck and chest before uppercutting her in the chest, making her bend forward, allowing Victor to slam his fists onto her back, sending her down and slightly cracking her spine. Harleen swings her hammer down, only for Cyborg to grab it with one hand, headbutts her before kicking her ankle, her right cheek before uppercutting her before slamming her head down to the ground, cracking Harleen's skull a bit. Cyborg tackles her and pins her to the ground and aims his cannon right at her face, ready to kill her.
Suddenly, he felt his arm being yanked away by Catwoman using her whip, causing Victor to fire in a different direction. Cyborg nearly loses his footing, allowing Harleen to bounce off of his head and land next to Catwoman. The two ladies nod before they charge at him. Cyborg shoots from his cannon, but the two avoid the blasts as Harleen equips her hand guns and shoots taser bullets at him, stunning and shocking him. Harleen then brings out her hammer, strikes him right in the chest and uses the handle and gives Catwoman a boost in the air and Selena flips and and does one strong dive kick to the flesh side of his face, bringing him down and defeating him.
"Somebody is ready for the scrapyard." Selena teasingly smirked.
"Oh, goodie! It could be his permanent retirement home." Harleen joked and giggled. Selena smirked before they went to catch up to Hal, who has defeated Black Adam.
"You okay there, green boy?" Selena asked.
"I've been worse, but the guy is still a pain in my ass." Hal shrugged it off. "And it looks like you two had your fun with the tinman."
"At least it was fun bashing him in and go night night! Been wanting to do that since he was gonna blast me a year ago!" Harleen shouted.
"C'mon. Let's go catch up with the others." Catwoman said and the two nod. Hopefully Batman is doing alright.
The rest of the new Justice League head to the center of the Fortress. Flash and Supergirl both see Nightwing and Wonder Woman up ahead. And the portal to the Phantom Zone is open. Barry grabs Damian and throws him aside while Kara tackles Diana and rams her into a wall before the two back up.
"I'm not surprised that you're still up to no good, Damian. And you say that Blue Beetle and Firestorm are desperate." Batman said.
"You go and recruit high school students who try too hard to even act like wannabes. So it makes sense. Besides, you think you're the only one who is smart around here, but you don't even consider me anymore." Damian claimed.
"Bruce never considered any of us anymore." Wonder Woman said, getting up. She then turns to Kara. "I'm not surprised that you're with him now, Kara. Relying on protection from us?"
"I don't need any protection from you, Diana!" Kara stared angrily at her. "I kicked your butt before, I can do it again!"
"Don't be so certain, Supergirl." Damian said, getting her attention. "We managed to shield ourselves while you guys were distracted by Brainiac. We managed to reunite with some old friends."
Kara could hear some more people coming. It sounds like someone growling, and one breaking ice. She is not familiar with any of these faces, but everyone else is. Solomon Grundy and Killer Frost land next to Nightwing and Wonder Woman.
"Now we're fighting on equal terms." Damian smirked.
"Who the heck are these guys?" Kara asked.
"Let's see. Big dumb zombie guy is Solomon Grundy. Impossible to kill. And the snow lady is Killer Frosty. All joined your cousin. Both got arrested and been in jail for years, based on what Bruce told me." Green Arrow said.
"We could ask you to give up, but we may as well give you a fight since you're too stubborn to surrender." Diana said to Batman.
"Exactly. You know me too well, Diana." Batman replied. He turns to Supergirl and nods to her. Supergirl smiles and she flies to take on Diana.
"I've been getting a hell lot of training since joining Bruce. Better lessons, more freedom and no bs." Kara said.
"You only beat me last time because I held back and didn't want to hurt you. But this time, I'm giving it all I got." Wonder Woman claimed before the two fight.
Wonder Woman flies in, shield first, ramming into Kara. Supergirl stands her ground as she blocks the attack. She headbutts Diana, sending her into the ground. She then grabs her ankles and throws her into a wall. Wonder Woman busts out and swings her shield at Kara, missing her, but then she grabs her lasso of truth and wraps it around Supergirl. Diana yanks Kara toward her and kicks her in the stomach and throws her to the ground. Kara rolls back up, only for Wonder Woman to throw her shield, which misses her, only for it to bounce off the wall and hit Kara in the head. The shield returns to Diana before she flies in, double kicks Kara in the stomach, elbows her in the throat and delivers a strong punch to the face, sending Kara back. Supergirl is still standing. This time, she is ready to end the fight.
Supergirl remembers her training advice from Batman and Black Canary. Wonder Woman comes in and swings more punches, but Supergirl avoids all the blows and parries them away and finds an opening. She punches Diana in the ribs, knees her chest before climbing her shoulders and wraps her legs around her and throws her down to the ground, face first. Diana gets up and attempts to throw her shield again, but this time, Supergirl catches it and throws it right back at Diana's head, hitting her so hard, she goes down, out cold.
"Guess being in prison for a year rotted your fighting skills." Kara mocked as she raised an eyebrow.
Green Arrow and Black Canary continue to fight Killer Frost. They're just about evenly matched.
"How are you alive? I thought Superman killed you?" Killer Frost asked.
"I'm Ollie 2.0. What's a gal like you teaming up with Superman, Frosty the Snow Chick?" Ollie teasingly asked.
"It's Killer Frost, idiot! And I'm gonna put you on thin ice!" She threatened.
"If anyone 's on thin ice, it's you, girl." Black Canary cracks her knuckles. "Never threaten my husband. Only I'm allowed to do that."
They resume fighting Killer Frost. She throws ice crystals from her palms, only for Dinah to use her banshee screams to shatter them to dust. Green Arrow fires one of his arrows, which Killer Frost grabs, freezes and crushes it like glass. She summons an ice pillar from the ground, hitting Dinah's back and sending her backwards before approaching Green Arrow. Killer Frost summons an ice sword and swings at him, and he defends himself with his very durable bow. He was on the defense, until he manages to push her away, and he takes the chance to swing across her face two times, two times in the chest, backflip kicking her into the air and allowing Black Canary to jump and double kick her away, sending Killer Frost down. But she wasn't done yet.
Killer Frost suddenly slides over to Oliver, scooping him off his feet and uppercutting Dinah in her jaw and swinging her sword at her two daggers. Killer Frost disarms her and leaves a nasty cut on her right arm, making Dinah scream in pain. Oliver's eyes widened in horror at what just happened and was now pissed.
"Hey! Snow Lady!" Oliver fires a flash grenade arrow and it goes off, blinding Killer Frost. She is blinded, allowing Black Canary to backflip kick Killer Frost, sending her in the air while Dinah jumps, does a powerful banshee scream, sending her into the ground before Dinah proceeds to defeat her with a strong punch to the head.
"I warned you, asshole." Black Canary said in disgust as she holds her bleeding arm. Oliver runs over to her.
"You okay there, honey?" Oliver asked, helping her out.
"I've been worse. Trust me. The worst pain I've had was having my heart broken." Dinah reassures her new husband.
"Well you're in luck, cause what you did right there, is why I love you." Oliver flirts with her to cheer her up. They proceed to take cover while their teammates continue to fight.
Flash continues to fight Solomon Grundy. He throws three punches at him before running and landing several punches on his back and chest before kicking him three times in the jaw, elbowing his stomach and spinning and running around him, creating a small tornado, hurling him in the air before grabbing his ankle and spinning in place before throwing him into a wall.
Solomon Grundy roars and jumps in the air and slams both fists in the ground, but misses Flash. Barry knew this fight wouldn't be easy considering his lethal strength that nearly rivals Superman's and his cousin's, being a match for Shazam or Black Adam and being capable of defeating Wonder Woman. Grundy stomps his foot in the ground and suddenly, some undead arms come from within the ground and they grab Flash's legs. This allows Grundy to grab him by his head, punch him in his chest two times before grabbing his legs and throws him down face first. Barry's skull is cracked and part of his face is bleeding.
Flash knew that he would have to end this quickly, hence his name. Flash easily outmaneuvers Grundy's powerful, but slow swings and does several electrical fast punches to his face and body, causing Grundy to feel even more pain. He is already dazed, allowing Flash to run around him, creating another small tornado and lifting him up in the air before Barry jumps up and slams both fists onto his head, sending Solomon Grundy down to the ground, defeating him.
"Dumb guy that is still a pain in the ass." Flash said before continuing on.
Meanwhile, Batman continues to fight Nightwing and the latter has since improved since he has been into hiding for a year and from his training with Kal-El and Diana.
"You've improved, Damian. But you're still forgetting the lessons me and Dick taught you as well." Batman said as his gauntlets blocked his sword swings.
"I don't need any lessons from you. Your shit held me back. Superman and Diana helped me unlock my full potential." Damian boasted before they continued to fight.
Batman continues to avoid all of his sword swings before seeing an opening and punching his chest and kicking him away. He throws batarangs, which Damian easily swings and breaks with his sword and goes for two back kicks, which Batman easily avoids and grabs his ankle before kneeing him in his back. He punches his former son in the back of his head twice before kicking him in the back again before grabbing him, firing his grapple gun in the air and they zip up and he throws Damian down to the ground. Now, Damian was pissed.
Damian brings out his electrical staff. He swings it upwards and misses, but then leaps forward and delivers two kicks to Batman's chest, sending him back before Nightwing spins it and hits his former father in his chin, head and shoulders before slamming an endpoint of it into his stomach, shocking him and allowing Damian to deliver a strong kick to the face, sending Batman down. Batman recovers. They throw batarangs at each other and they deflect, but Batman uses his grapple gun and pulls Damian's staff out of his hands and grabs it. Damian brings out his sword and they both charge in, ready to finish him. They collide weapons with each other.
"You're better, but not good enough." Batman said.
"I measure up, but you don't. Besides, I have the better weapon." Nightwing claimed. But he failed to realize that Batman trips him, scooping him off his feet before, swiftly doing a strong kick to the chest, sending Damian down and defeating him.
"A weapon is only as good as you are." Batman corrected him.
Everyone has been rounded up, ready to be taken to prison.
"It's over, Diana. Now hand over the Platinum Kryptonite. If your fate is changed then that is on you." Batman warns her.
"Well this time, the joke's on you, Bruce. Because none of us have it." Diana smirked.
Batman was actually surprised by this. He knows Diana is a skilled liar, but not very deceptive. Supergirl uses her x-ray vision to find the kryptonite, but none of them have it.
"They don't have it. Where is it?" Supergirl asked. Then, Batman immediately realized.
"No!" Batman shouted as he turns to the Phantom Zone portal. Within a second, he is shot backwards by a red laser. It stung him in the chest and it burns like hell. He knows too well who just did that. Kal-El finally emerges from the Phantom Zone, still cuffed to the green kryptonite. His hands are holding the Platinum Kryptonite. With his strength now returning, he uses all of his strength to break free of his cuffs and his eyes are red. And right behind him is a mind-controlled Doomsday.
"Kal-El." Kara whispered.
"Miss me, cousin?" Superman asked. "To be honest, I do too. But I don't miss him."
Superman glares at Batman getting up from the ground. They stare at each other, like they are still their own worst enemies up to this day.
"Clark. I figured it'd be a matter of time before we see each other again, but not like this." Batman said.
"I'm as surprised as you are. You forget that as long as I am alive, the Regime will continue to stand. You should've killed me when you had the chance." Clark claimed.
"Kal-El, stop!" Kara yelled. "We can work things out! Please, listen to us!"
"It's too late for that, Kara. I'd like to fight you, but I've got a lot of planning to do." Kal-El turns to Cyborg.
Cyborg opens a boom tube portal right above them. Within seconds, Kal-El and Adam gather their allies and fly upward into the portal. Supergirl is about to take off after them, but Batman stops her.
"No! It's too dangerous to take them on by yourself, now that your cousin and Doomsday are free now!" Batman warns her.
Supergirl bites her lower lip. She wishes to stop her cousin from whatever he plans on doing. But given that there are so many of them, she growls out of frustration, knowing he's right.
"Damn it! Why? Why won't he change?" Kara asked in frustration.
"For the first time in my life, I don't know, Kara." Batman sighed in reluctance. "Chances are, he may or may not want to see things our way. Same with Diana, Victor and Damian. We will get them, but we can't chase them blindly. Let's head back to base. Everyone would want to hear about this."
Everyone looks on with different expressions on their faces. Supergirl is saddened. She still hates how her cousin turned out while she was lost in space for 30 years. Dinah places a hand on her shoulder.
"Hey. Everything's gonna be alright. I know he's your cousin. But we'll get him. He's right. Can only hope he'll change." Dinah gives her a friendly smile.
Kara nods nervously at Dinah's words. She can only hope she and Bruce are right about her cousin Kal-El. But she can't say the same for everyone else. For now, the League leaves the Fortress of Solitude.
Unknown to everyone, a Parademon was watching them from afar, having witnessed the entire thing. On the planet Apokolips, Darkseid and Steppenwolf have been watching from its eyes, with Darkseid sitting on his throne.
"The Kryptonian has escaped at last. Good. It was only a matter of time before he would resurface. I want him to be at his full strength when I meet him face to face." Darkseid chuckled.
"He can be a threat to your plans. And his cousin is on the planet too." Steppenwolf reminds him.
"I have plans for her. Have you received a word from our spy, general?" Darkseid asked, turning to him.
"He has found its exact location. He plans on uncovering it soon with Earth-based technology." Steppenwolf said while bowing to him.
"Good. General Steppenwolf. Ready my armada. We head for Earth immediately. No delays." Darkseid ordered him as he stood up from his throne. Steppenwolf bows his head out of respect and acknowledgement as hundreds and thousands of parademons are all flying around, waiting for his command. His eyes light up, ready to start his plan, and to kill Superman.
Note: Peacemaker will not be in this story. I actually didn't think about him, but I don't see how he'd fit in this story. Joker won't be here either. I'll be honest, I didn't like his IJ2 design. I think he shouldn't have been playable.
