The following Saturday evening Skye and Tucker were lying outside in Skye's favorite spot looking up at the stars in the sky. Skye had her head on his shoulder, His arm was wrapped around her as he gently ran his fingers along her arm. Skye's day had been very long, so the peacefulness of this was very much needed.
"You're quiet tonight," Tucker said.
Skye smiled a little. "I'm tired and just enjoying the quiet with you."
Tucker smiled. "You're enjoying the quiet?"
"Yeah," Skye said. "I got my closure on the situation that made me hate the quiet, and I think between that and the fact that I know I'm safe here and with you." That morning she had been able to go to the prison and get closure on the situation with the Dyer's. It had been emotional, but she had gotten what she needed and finally felt at peace.
"So the hate of quiet came from the Dyer's?" Tucker asked.
"Yeah," she said.
"I'm glad you got your closure," Tucker said.
"Me too. You need closure on any homes you've been in?" Skye asked.
"No. I mean, yeah, I've been verbally abused in homes before, but nothing to the extent that you have," Tucker said.
"Any abuse is not okay," Skye said.
"I know, but therapy has helped me with that," Tucker said.
"Yeah, I've been doing that now, too. I'm being forced," Skye said.
" Your dad?" Tucker asked.
"Bucky," Skye said. "I made the mistake of telling him his opinion matters to me," Skye said with a smile. "He told me I was doing it because it mattered to him."
Tucker chuckled. "That didn't work when I tried that or your dad."
Skye shrugged, "Guess the third person saying that was enough. And my dad never really tried to force it. Just highly encouraged it. Bucky basically forced it. Said he would drag me there if I didn't go willingly."
"Well, I'm glad you're doing it," Tucker said.
Skye nodded.
"Anything crazy happening around here?" Tucker asked
"I've started training with Loki," Skye said.
"Ah. And is that going well?" Tucker asked.
"So far," Skye said letting out a breath.
"Okay, you're not telling me something," Tucker said.
"What?" Skye asked.
"I can tell you're holding something back," Tucker said.
Skye sat up and Tucker did the same.
"Last weekend after training the two of us had a good chat. He admitted to me that this universe is not the only one where you and I are friends," Skye said.
"Okay," Tucker said slowly.
"In his universe your variant has abilities. He said he thought the variant was experimented on. Maybe the super serum but he couldn't be sure that it wasn't genetic. And I said I was sure you would tell me if you had abilities but it wouldn't be the first time you kept a major secret from me," Skye said quickly while looking down at her hands.
"Skye, you can look at me," Tucker said.
Skye looked up to Tucker who was smiling softly at his friend.
"You're right. I have kept something major from you. So I get why you might have some doubts. But yes if I had any super abilities I would absolutely tell you," Tucker said.
"Okay. I believe you," Skye said.
"I'm guessing if in that universe our variants are friends mine is on the side of evil?" Tucker asked
"Yeah. That is the impression I got," Skye said.
Tucker nodded.
"But I'm sure it's because my variant convinced yours," Skye said.
"Possibly," Tucker said.
"But anyway. Neither of us are our variants," Skye said with a smile.
"Yes. That is very true," Tucker said with a smile.
Skye let out a breath.
"Feel better that you've got that off your chest?" Tucker asked.
"Yes," Skye said.
Tucker laid back down and put his arm out for her.
Skye laid back down on his shoulder facing him and smiled closing her eyes.
Tucker started to gently run his fingers along her back.
"Tuck?" Skye said.
"Yeah?" Tucker asked.
"A conversation with Loki made me realize we hadn't really discussed what we are. Are we just dating or more?" Skye asked
"No, we haven't, why? He making moves on you or something?" Tucker asked.
"No," Skye said. She wasn't sure if what happened could be considered that but she didn't want that to come out.
"Well, do you want to be more? Put more of a label on it?" Tucker asked.
"I mean I kind of have been referring to you as my boyfriend already," she admitted.
Tucker smiled, "I'm okay with that."
Skye smiled and laid her arm across her chest.
The two were quiet again.
"So, girlfriend. I'd be interested in seeing your abilities sometimes. I know you're not supposed to use them outside of training or for defending yourself but would I be allowed to watch a training session?" Tucker asked.
Skye smiled, "I don't know. I have no issue with it but I should probably ask."
"Okay," Tucker said with a smile. "So you and Loki must have fixed issues if you two are training together."
"Yeah, we have found a good place. Where I think we can be friends. If he wanted to hurt me he could have let me die when what he said would happened," Skye said.
"So you did almost die," Tucker said.
"Yeah. I would have if it wasn't for Loki going back to his universe and stealing some of the medicine that saved the Skye in his universe when the same thing happened. Basically, the magic from Loki's knife mixed with my DNA caused a virus in my body," Skye said.
"He went back and stole it without getting caught?" Tucker asked.
"He did get caught but he got out before they could actually grab him," Skye said. "I guess because he's not on the side in power there he is at risk. So he took a big risk to save my life."
"I understand why you two have been able to fix the issues," Tucker said.
"There was that and other things but yeah," Skye said.
Tucker's alarm went off notifying him that he needed to get moving to get home in time for curfew. He sighed.
"That's your time to go warning?" Skye asked
"Yeah," Tucker said.
Both teens got up and went inside and to the front door where Skye and Tucker hugged tight.
"Text me when you get home," Skye said.
"Of course," Tucker said before he kissed her and left.
Skye went back into the living area and flopped on the couch next to Peter who had just come back for the summer from MIT. He was watching the news
"So, you two official now?" Peter asked
Skye smiled, "Yes."
"That's great," Peter said before the two focused on the news.
