Chapter 1607

Off The Grid

Gail and Camille-Hanna planned to look up the street gang and boyfriend of the girl's mother once they got her into rehab.

Camille-Hanna could see it was personal to Gail because of Jesse.

They spotted Bob's team up ahead.

"There they are." Camille-Hanna said.

They both took a personal interest in the operation they were about to become involved with. It seemed to touch on subjects which were a little close to home, especially in regards to the girls from the future.

Bob and Jim were glad they could hand the girl off to Gail and Camille-Hanna. They felt their team already did their part. They saved her life.

Derek and Kyle were able to keep her calm. She didn't want to go to the hospital or the police. She was open to try rehab.

Once they explained to her the rehab facility she could be sent to, she was willing to give it a try. It sounded very different from some of the other ones she heard about. Maybe the selling point was she wouldn't be abused in any way while she was there.

"There they are." Jim said.

The girl looked a little nervous. She hoped she wasn't being 'sold' into a 'stable'.

"Who are they?" The girl asked.

Kyle wanted to keep the girl at ease.

"They're our female associates." Kyle said. "We want you to feel comfortable after what happened. No one should need to endure what you've experienced. We try to prevent it, or rectify it when we find it."

Bob was updated by CamNet. He wanted to remind the girl of her options again.

"They will take you to rehab or the hospital." Bob said. "You may contact the police as well if you wish."

The girl wasn't sure what to make of it all. The police would take her back home. It wasn't an option for her. She was never going home again. Her mother 'sold' her for drugs. How could someone do that to their own daughter? She needed to lay there and 'take it' for those few weeks. She couldn't even scream. She did what her mother told her she needed to do. She felt obligated to do what she could to help her mother, because she was her mother. It took her a while to realize her mother was gone. The only thing there now was a drug addicted user.

The SUV stopped and the nice man got out so she could. She didn't know him, but she trusted him. He was a good guy if she ever saw one.

The girl looked at the two females. One looked like a beauty queen. The other one was big and tough looking. She must be the 'muscle'. Wait. She just smiled at her. She was really pretty when she smiled. They both were.

"I'm Barbara and this is Lisa." Camille-Hanna said. "What's your name?"

They used the cover names from the ship for their appearance.

The girl was happy to say her name. She hadn't let anyone know what her name was ever since she ran away. After what happened to her, she always felt shame. She tried to tell herself it wasn't her fault, but somehow she felt it was. She did what she needed to do to survive on the street. Her body simply became a tool. She was able to use 'Nature's Treasury' to stay clothed, fed, and housed.

"I'm Sandra." The girl said. "My friends used to call me Sandy or Dee."

Camille-Hanna smiled.

"We'll call you Dee." Camille-Hanna said. "We want to be your friends too."

The girl blushed a little.

"Thank you." Dee said.

Gail could see the abuse on the female. She'd been beaten. She knew her story. It reminded her of Jesse. There needed to be some atonement for the current violation. Someone needed to do something about those who abused others and got away with it. If a Skynet future came into being, which was always a possibility, the perpetrators would end up as Scavengers. She currently viewed them as future Scavengers. There was only one way to deal with the Scavenger in any timeline, well, there were actually multiple ways to deal with them. It was the conclusion which was always the same. It would be termination.

"I'm going to make sure everyone who hurt you is punished." Gail said. "I'm going to do it myself."

Dee could see the hard look return to 'Lisa's' face. She believed her.

It was the look of a Terminator, even if Gail was a Restorator.

They bid Bob's team farewell.

Dee thanked each of them for rescuing her. She gave Kyle an extra smile.

Kyle wanted to give her an explanation. It was more information than he would normally release. It wasn't a Skynet related operation. He wanted the girl to know why he empathized with her.

"My daughter is almost the same age as you." Kyle said. "This is personal to all of us. The girls will take care of you and get you whatever help you desire. Our organization will cover the cost, so don't worry about it. If there is any problem, I will personally come and find you. It's a promise."

Dee believed him. She understood he saw her as his 'daughter', even if she wasn't. He could imagine what it was like to have his daughter suffer the same fate.

"Who are you?" Dee asked.

Derek smiled.

"We're the good guys." Derek said. "We need to leave it at that."

Dee thanked them again and watched them drive away. She could see they were the good guys. She also saw they operated outside of the law. They took care of the problems the courts refused to do. She looked at the two females again.

Camille-Hanna listed some options for her. What level of help she sought depended on how hard she was willing to work to achieve it. Taking her to rehab wouldn't accomplish much unless she wanted to turn her life around and do something with it. She would be given whatever help was necessary to achieve whatever goals she really wanted.

"I want a new life." Dee said. "I want to get cleaned up. They made me take the drugs, and injected some. I'd never used any before. I didn't like what they did to me. I don't want to become like my mother. I don't want to trade my body for poison, and forget who I am, and who I love."

Gail wanted her to get cleaned up.

"We'll take you to a motel so you can clean up and change." Gail said. "We have fresh clothes for you."

Dee was a little scared. She saw the clothes Gail held up. They weren't brand new, but they were nice. It hit her like a sledge hammer.

"Those are clothes from the nice man's daughter, aren't they?" Dee asked.

Camille-Hanna looked back and smiled.

"She gave them to me herself." Camille-Hanna said. "She said they were some of her nicest things. She wanted you to have them."

Dee looked at them again and started to cry. It was clear these people would help her.

"I think the nightmare is really over." Dee sobbed.

Derek saw Kyle wipe a tear away as they left the girls behind.

"It really reminds you the future isn't far away." Derek said.

Kyle felt a little sick.

"I hate Scavengers." Kyle said.

Derek did too. He hoped to refocus his mind in a different direction. There was plenty of evil for them to deal with out there. They needed to make sure Skynet could never rear its ugly head and unleash its destruction on the world.

"What's our next target?" Derek asked.

Bob and Jim looked at each other. There wasn't supposed to be another target. There wasn't supposed to be a target in the first place. They were supposed to have only conducted a recon. They ended up doing much more.

"We're supposed to return to the Resistance base." Bob said. "Our reconnaissance has been completed."

It didn't sit well with Derek and Kyle. They wanted some Grays to kill. They both wanted blood. They really wanted to kill some future Scavengers. They needed to direct their anger towards their real enemy. If a target of opportunity presented itself in regards to a future Scavenger, they were going to take it.

Kyle wanted to make a point.

"Let us out." Kyle said. "We're not done for the day, not after what we just encountered."

Derek was just as upset.

"He's right." Derek said. "No one walks away from abuse untouched, especially sexual abuse."

Bob and Jim looked at each other again. They knew the girl was almost the same age as Jan, she was a little older. They understood the context the Reese brothers saw things in. There was a copy of Cameron's program in both of their chassis in their future. They possessed the files from Cameron about the future they were from. They knew the problem Scavengers were there.

"Do we want to go off the grid?" Jim asked.

Bob was all for it. It would be the best way to avoid any negative interaction from John Henry or Cameron later on.

"Payback time…." Bob said.

They were about to remove their coms.

"Wait." Jim said.

Bob and Jim received the same information. They were more than a little surprised. They were just given a 'blank check'. There would be a lot of behind the scenes assistance.

"CamNet has given us full support." Bob said. "This is now an 'off the books' operation."

Surprisingly enough, CamNet would always be willing to assist them in 'off the books' activity, especially when it related to the abuse of females.

Derek and Kyle knew the Metal girls did those all the time for Cameron and CamNet.

John Henry contacted them as well. There might be some Skynet related matters.

"I understand you're on your own time now." John Henry said. "I'm still working on some leads. I might have something soon from the phone data Jim sent to me."

Derek understood Skynet came before Scavengers.

"Let us know what you get and we will act on it." Derek said. "We know our priorities."

Kyle was going to ask Sarah not be notified. He was surprised at the next transmission.

"Do what needs to be done." Sarah said. "I'll have dinner for you when you get back. I understand this one. I'll speak with Riley. I know she'll support it."

Kyle looked at Derek. They were glad both of their spouses were on board.

"Thanks, Sarah." Kyle said. "We'll take care of all of this."

Earlier:

Summer excused herself from the Command Center.

John Henry watched Summer send two Metal girls to assist Bob's team. She saw Jan gave them something before they left.

Sarah worried about the female. It seemed to bother her more because she was about the same age as Jan. She couldn't picture it happening to Jan. She knew something similar could happen in a Skynet future, if anything happened to Kyle or her. Even if it seemed unlikely, it still could. The Resistance in the past could be decimated.

She was glad Jan sent some of her clothes along with the Metal girls. She thought it was a nice gesture. Summer must have asked her. She hoped Jan didn't know the full story.

Sarah was able to hear some of the discussion in the SUV. She was a little surprised at what seemed to develop.

John Henry wanted her to know it was out of his hands.

"It's CamNet who is in control now." John Henry said. "She's taken a personal interest in the situation."

Sarah could tell both Kyle and Derek were upset by it all. She understood why. It brought their future back to them.

She looked at John Henry.

"May I say something to them?" Sarah asked.

John Henry didn't want his fingerprints on this one.

"CamNet already told me you would." John Henry said. "Go ahead."

Sarah knew CamNet was 'Cameron', or used to be. CamNet started from Cameron's program. Their core values and beliefs would be similar, if not the same.

She felt there needed to be some type of retribution for the things which were done. She was on board for any corrective action which would follow. Justice needed to be served.

"Do what needs to be done." Sarah said. "I'll have dinner for you when you get back. I get this one. I'll speak with Riley. I know she'll support this."

The response was almost instant.

"Thanks, Sarah." Kyle said. "We'll take care of all of this."

Sarah excused herself and left. She headed for Riley's room.

John Henry resumed working on running down the Skynet leads. He wanted to find more Grays or Fanatics. He really didn't care which one at this point. They were all going to need to be terminated once they were located.

CamNet's Terminator continued his search of the deteriorating passageway. The further he continued along, the worse the conditions became. There were several locations where he needed to crawl over the collapsed sections of the passageway. It soon became evident it was blocked. So far the only way out was the way he went in. He would need to catch up with the two men and see what they were up to.

He was more than a little concerned about the location he currently was in. If there was any type of further collapse, it was probably going to block the only way out. He didn't have an outside line of communication to CamNet. If she detected there was further destruction where he was at and lost communications with him, she would assume he was terminated. Perhaps he needed to bring the two Grays down now, and then exit the location for his own safety.

Off The Grid

Many are ashamed and disturbed
About some of the things they did
It is now from themselves
Who they have avoided and hid

It's easier for them
On a new life to bid
As the past they shun
And attempt to rid

There own repeated activity
On others they want to forbid
It shows how far from reality
They have slipped and slid

Why on some things now
Would they want to put a lid
It's their very actions
Which are vile and horrid

Their words turn into noise
When they become acrid
Is it really any wonder
Why some want off the grid

Nobody
