Chapter 1640

Motivation

CamNet informed Camille-Hanna and Gail of a new development. It appeared there were some new targets which surfaced in the community they left earlier. They already dealt with and terminated one gang threat.

"It looks like we have a new problem to deal with." Camille-Hanna said.

It seemed like more trash to throw out to Gail. She didn't like what the future held for such individuals.

"Future Scavengers should be dealt with whenever they're encountered." Gail said. "There's only one way for the story to end with a positive conclusion."

Jesse told her no one could, 'grow good crop from bad seed'. She always thought there was a deeper implication to it.

Camille-Hanna headed in the direction CamNet indicated they should go. She didn't think it would take too long to get the situation under control. How hard could it be?

"We took care of one issue." Camille-Hanna said.

Gail thought about the girl they let off for rehab.

"I don't know if Dee will make it or not." Gail said.

Camille-Hanna didn't think there was any way to know.

"Time will tell." Camille-Hanna said. "She's the one who has to help herself. Right now it looks like we have some new targets to deal with."

The drone over the previous location where the perpetrators were taken down, picked up some new vehicle activity. There were two vehicles which scoped out the area where the first crew was taken down. They didn't appear to be associated with them.

They were most concerned if the new group would locate and interact with the individual they freed earlier. They didn't. The other individual was safely able to leave the area.

Camille-Hanna and Gail followed the two vehicles. They soon arrived at an abandoned apartment building. It was another example of public housing gone wrong. Without the proper use of law enforcement, the area fell into crime ridden disrepair after it became gang ridden. They looked at the drone images where the vehicles parked. There were two other vehicles already parked where they did.

"Do you think this is their hangout, or are they're about to do some type of illegal transaction?" Gail asked.

Gail actually thought any type of transaction they did was probably illegal. When such individuals fell too deeply into the gang lifestyle, there was only one cure. It was termination. It was something Jesse and her dealt with on a regular basis when they went 'out'. There was no place for future Scavengers in the present.

Camille-Hanna was sure it would be trouble whatever it was.

"I think we should have a low level drone scan provide us with all the information we need." Camille-Hanna said. "We don't need to worry about a hostile Terminator hearing it. Everything we're dealing with should be 'soft targets', even if they're extremely dangerous."

CamNet already sent a drone over the target location. It quickly became evident they received a shipment of drugs and were about to distribute it. There was also an indication they manufactured drugs in some of the rooms of the abandoned apartment as well. It involved the use of chemicals.

The crew which was out, was going to move some of the product to the group which was just taken down. They decided they would take over their territory and distribute the product themselves. It would mean more money and control for them. It would also allow them to get into the trade of human trafficking. None of the group seemed to have a problem with it. In fact, there was a celebration underway.

Gail didn't have a problem bringing down more future Scavengers. The sooner it happened, the better. She was ready to go right now.

"Let's go in there and clean the place out." Gail said. "It won't take very long."

CamNet picked up some additional information. It was related to one of the Skynet targets which were taken down by the female Fanatic earlier. It was being done as an 'off the books' operation. The three Terminators which she activated earlier, were operating outside the scope of the Resistance. Two of them were currently engaged with another Skynet related target. The third one was currently unaccounted for when they went to investigate another Skynet related complex destroyed earlier. They followed two suspected Grays inside of the system. So far none of them emerged. It was unknown if there was additional enemy action, or the destroyed condition of the complex may have collapsed further.

She informed Camille-Hanna and Gail she would deal with the gang issue. They were given a new mission. They were to handle it before Derek and Kyle finished up with what they were working on. Bob and Jim were with them. She wanted them to return to the Resistance base. If they were informed of the target she just located, they would respond.

Camille-Hanna and Gail watched the drone image as a missile was gravity dropped on top of the abandoned apartment. There was an explosion, followed by a massive secondary explosion. It was most likely related to the drugs the gang was making. The chemicals they used to make the drugs, obviously exploded. It would be reported as another drug lab explosion. They weren't uncommon in gang territory. The individuals involved usually lacked any type of scientific training. Most of them graduated from other groups making narcotics as well. Few of them graduated from High School. Some of them didn't even make it through Junior High School.

"I think the problem has been taken care of." Camille-Hanna said.

Gail knew it was a temporary fix. No matter how many future Scavengers they terminated, there were always more to replace them. Now there was a Skynet related threat to deal with.

"For now it might be." Gail said. "It will pick back up in some other place. It always does."

Camille-Hanna knew they needed to act before the other team was available.

"Now we need to deal with the real enemy." Camille-Hanna said.

Gail was convinced future Scavengers were as real as any enemy in the future.

"Don't worry, we'll always be able to find more later." Gail said. "I know where to look for the lowlifes. They can run, but they can't hide."

Camille-Hanna and Gail were headed for potential contact at a Skynet related facility which was recently destroyed. CamNet gave them a few more details as they drove. It sounded like a very uncertain location to deal with.

Cameron turned down her hearing and watched as Savannah took the wheel of the research vessel. It was actually a glorified houseboat painted up to look like a research vessel. It seems some individuals looked no further when they saw there was some type of 'marine research' being undertaken. The research currently being conducted was anything but 'marine research' related.

Savannah needed to strain her eyes a little bit to watch around them in the darkness as the boat moved along. She checked the Marine radar as well.

"Needless to say, you can see a lot better than I can in the darkness." Savannah said.

Cameron wasn't really sure she liked the term 'darkness', even if it was. She took out a chart for Savannah to navigate by. She marked a course for Savannah to follow.

"You're doing fine." Cameron said. "Follow the heading I gave you and we can return back to the cabin."

Savannah wasn't sure if she wanted to wrap everything up yet. She also needed to think about the others. It wasn't just about her. She still didn't think any of them were done yet.

Earlier:

Young Allison and Anna embraced and shared a kiss. It was a dream come true, for both of them. They slowly undressed each other and climbed into bed.

Anna couldn't believe Cameron allowed her to be with Young Allison before her. She wondered if there was more to it than met the eye. Savannah or Young Allison could have said something. It could have either been directly to Cameron, or indirectly through CamNet.

Young Allison was sure today was the best day of her life. She finally was with her true love Savannah, and now was about to be with her cyborg counterpart. Even though Anna was her Guardian, she loved her almost as much as she did Savannah and Cameron. She was very pleased Savannah taught her a number of things when they shared. She would now be able to please Anna with what she learned.

Anna and Young Allison were with each other as the houseboat moved across Lake Tahoe.

Seconds ago:

Cameron kept her eye on the two vehicles when they left the starting line. She was certain the Deuce Coupe held the advantage from the initial start. It may have been close, but the Deuce Coupe was always ahead, even if it was incrementally so. It continued to distance its lead from the Corvette.

Young Allison couldn't see much in the distance other than the headlights of the two vehicles. She could see the headlights move a little bit and figured the race started.

Cameron leaned down next to her ear.

"The Deuce Coupe is ahead." Cameron whispered. "He's going to be ahead at the quarter mile for sure."

Young Allison could soon hear the sounds of the high performance engines running at full throttle.

The group of spectators began to speculate who was going to win. The majority of them thought it would be the Deuce Coupe. It was the local favorite.

Cameron and Young Allison watched as the two vehicles closed on the finish line. Most of the individuals around them thought it was a close race.

"I can see the Deuce Coupe is ahead." Young Allison said.

Cameron knew it was a lead which kept getting bigger.

"The Corvette is going to lose by more than a few car lengths." Cameron said. "I believe he reached his top end a short time ago."

Two seconds later, the Deuce Coupe roared by them at full throttle. The Corvette arrived a few seconds later.

There was a cheer by the local crowd.

Young Allison wondered what Cameron was going to do next. She knew Cameron always wanted to challenge the best.

"Are you going to challenge him directly?" Young Allison asked.

Cameron didn't think it would be a good idea to cause any trouble with the locals. Even though they were in the Bakersfield area, there were people from the smaller communities surrounding it. Some of them might view things a little differently than the way they would view them in regards to their local heroes. She was sure some type of clandestine arrangement could be made.

"I think we can catch him back out on the street." Cameron said. "Right now isn't the time or place."

Cameron tilted her head slightly. There was other trouble she wanted to avoid.

"I can hear a siren in the distance. There is now a second one." Cameron said. "I believe the local law enforcement is headed to this location. We need to leave."

Cameron and Young Allison quickly made their way back to the Galaxie.

"Should we tell the others?" Young Allison asked.

Cameron would have liked to have left the others behind. They apparently were waiting for the two vehicles to return. She understood Young Allison's desire to look after others.

"The police are on their way here." Cameron said to the others. "There's more than one patrol car. I strongly recommend you all leave now."

Cameron started the Galaxie and drove back out onto the street. She headed in the direction the two racers went. It seemed to be the furthest location away from the approaching sirens.

Young Allison looked back at the people they left behind. The vehicle used as the starter, and the vehicle at the quarter mile marker, both arrived at the location they just left. She could see the headlights of the two vehicles involved in the race headed towards them. One was in front of the other by some distance.

The Corvette was on its way back.

Cameron flashed her lights several times to notify the driver. He didn't look in their direction or even slow down. Evidently he wanted to go back to wherever he came from. He most likely was headed for trouble.

Young Allison was a little irritated by the Corvette driver's actions.

"The dude just shined you on." Young Allison said. "I bet he's sore about losing. He did have a fast car. He just met one which was faster."

Cameron didn't think he should be upset about losing. He did a very respectable job. He just challenged a foe he couldn't defeat.

"Not everything is winnable based upon the circumstances." Cameron said.

Young Allison knew Cameron took it a step further. It was never over for Cameron until she was the victor.

"I guess there's always next time." Young Allison said.

Cameron could see the Deuce Coupe coming. She did the same thing she did for the Corvette. She could see the Deuce Coupe slow. She pulled up next to it. They were driver to driver, headed in opposite directions.

The driver of the Deuce Coupe looked the car over first. He then looked at the driver.

"Can I help you?" The driver asked.

Cameron smiled at him.

"The police are coming from the other direction." Cameron said. "There's more than one squad car. I just wanted you to know. I don't think it's a good direction to go."

The driver nodded. His sources on the street gave him some information earlier. They always let him know who was looking for him. There was always someone. He frequented different parts of the Central Valley at different times of the week.

"Thanks." The driver said. "Your car looks a lot like one which took down a 55 Chevy tonight. I heard he was looking for me. The car, which looks a lot like this one, beat him without too much trouble. You wouldn't know anything about it would you?"

Cameron glanced over at Young Allison. She then returned her attention to the driver of the Deuce Coupe.

"It was me." Cameron said. "It was actually us. My sister is with me. He had a lot of bad things to say about you. I didn't like his mouth. He ran off with his tail between his legs after I smoked him. I guess he didn't like who shut him down, as much as getting shut down. Some people don't like getting beat by a girl. I really don't know why. Half of the people on the planet are females. It's bound to happen sooner or later."

The driver looked over the Galaxie one more time.

"He had a pretty good reputation for being fast." The driver said.

Cameron shrugged her shoulders.

"I guess he wasn't fast enough." Cameron said. "I guess you could find out if you could beat him or not."

The driver looked around. He didn't spot the 55 Chevy anywhere.

"Do you know where he's at?" The driver asked.

Cameron smiled.

"He's probably on his way back to Clovis." Cameron said. "The car and driver who beat him are right here though. It's if you're up to another match. We do need to get out of the area."

Cameron revved up her engine slightly.

The driver of the Deuce Coupe thought about everything she just said and indicated.

"Are you challenging me to a race?" The driver asked.

Cameron revved up the engine a little higher.

"Don't let my appearance fool you." Cameron said. "No one's around to see you get beat by a girl. It'll be our secret. We'll both know though. It's all that matters. I'm not here to tarnish anyone's reputation to prove I'm the best. What happens on the back roads, stays on the back roads."

The driver of the Deuce Coupe was surprised a chick wanted to race him. He knew her car was fast because it beat the 55 Chevy. Several of his buddies told them they saw the race. He was actually looking for the 55 Chevy their car beat when he encountered the Corvette. He usually didn't deal with small time punks. He knew a fuel injected 327 was a serious engine. He wanted to try out his upgraded mill against it.

He wasn't sure if his new competition was the car, or the driver. He faced a lot of guys on the street. The chick radiated extreme confidence in herself without bragging about anything. It meant she believed in her equipment. He knew to the layman the Galaxie might look like a family sedan, but he recognized a sleeper when he saw one. The throaty roar of the exhaust confirmed his suspicions.

He could tell she wasn't someone to brag or try to make a name for herself. She just wanted to face the best. He was the best. He just proved it again. It wasn't about trying to make him look bad either. He realized it was the best against the best and it was the only thing which mattered. Like she said, it would be their secret, but they would both know. There was enough mystery and intrigue surrounding everything to give it a go.

"You're on." The driver said. "Let me turn around."

He pulled forward and made a three-point turn on the street.

Young Allison was still trying to process everything which just happened.

"I think you insulted him about four different ways, even if it was done somewhat friendly." Young Allison said. "I don't think he's used to anyone speaking to him in such a way, especially the way you did it. I think it showed a certain sense of style."

Cameron saw it a little differently.

"I just wanted to give him a little motivation." Cameron said. "It looks like it worked. I didn't even need to tell him we took down the Stingray with the same engine as in the 62 Corvette. I would have mentioned it next. I also would have told him we beat it by a greater margin than his race finished."

Cameron and Young Allison both looked over as the yellow Deuce Coupe pulled up next to them. So far everything remained mostly friendly. They hoped it would stay the same way.

Motivation

Is it possible for one
To have too much adulation
As it begins to pile up
It can cause a type of suffocation

When there is too much of anything
It can lead to stagnation and frustration
No one gets very much stimulation
When there's a lot of aggravation

What starts as an aspiration
Can quickly develop into a complication
The hoped for celebration
Soon becomes another unwanted obligation

When the magic is gone
There soon follows suffocation
If there's no resolution
There could be a termination

Affection left unclaimed and returned
Will soon lead to outside temptation
The tide can still be turned
All it takes is a little motivation
