5: Emotion

Alex groaned as she turned over onto her side, trying to go back to sleep. She was worn out. She was not sure her legs even worked anymore. She did not mind. This was the best three days of her life. Who knew things would turn out like this? How is this even my life?

"Wake up, sweetheart. Breakfast," Lena said, a gentle press of her lips on Alex's forehead.

Alex let out a grunt and waved her hand, trying to fend Lena off without opening her eyes. She did not want breakfast. She wanted to be able to sleep a little longer and then figure out if she desired to move. She would not mind if she could not move after more rest. She would have a great excuse to go back to sleep for the day.

"You need to eat and you need to go to work," Lena reminded her.

Alex rolled over onto her other side, needing Lena to take the hint. How could she think about work when she was lucky her pelvis was not smashed in? Kara's gotta take it easy on me. I'm only human. She always thought she was in great shape, but the aftermath of her rut was proving otherwise.

"Alex, you have to eat," Lena said, voice stern.

Alex snorted. She did not have to eat. She did not have to do anything, especially something she had no desire to do. She hoped Lena got the idea when she did not move.

"Hey!" Kara hugged Alex from behind, earning a surprised yelp and forcing her to open her eyes. "You have to get up and eat. Stop acting like you're so tired. We already know what type of stamina you have." She nipped Alex's shoulder.

Alex whined. "But, that's it! I am so tired! You both wore me out." She was only human for crying out loud. What did they expect of her?

Lena scoffed. "We wore you out? I couldn't move two days ago! I had to sleep half of yesterday."

"Then, you should appreciate how tired I am. Three days of nonstop…" Alex trailed off, not sure if she wanted to finish that sentence. "I mean… I'm not ungrateful…" You damn sure sound that way. Clean this up, alpha, before you spend your next rut with your hand.

"No one said you were," Kara replied. She nuzzled Alex, calming her down.

"We're just trying to take care of you the best way we know how. So, right now, you need to eat. It'll help get your strength back," Lena pointed out.

Lena was not wrong. Alex let out a loud groan and rolled over onto her back. She might at least check out what Lena offered for breakfast. Lena had a tray in her arms. Pancakes, scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausage links, and coffee. She supposed she could eat that. Maybe.

"Do I have to get out of bed?" Alex asked. She was not ready for reality. She wanted to lounge in the aftermath of her rut. Such an incredible rut. A dreamy sigh escaped her.

"You only have to chew," Lena replied as she moved closer to Alex. She put the tray down by Alex's side and picked up the fork. She put a couple of pancake bits on the fork and put the food to Alex's lips.

Alex arched an eyebrow. "Really?"

"Is this okay?" Lena asked. She had never done this with Alex before, but Alex had heard tales from Kara of Lena doing it for her.

"I might like it." Alex shrugged. She had never allowed herself to be treated in such a way. You also never allowed yourself to be with two lovers, so try some new stuff. Let them take care of you.

"It's one of my favorite things," Kara said.

"You like anything involving food," Alex replied.

Kara shrugged, unable to argue that one. Alex turned to kiss Kara's cheek, just for the hell of it. Then, she turned back to the food. She opened her mouth to accept the pancakes and Lena fed her. It was pleasant.

"Okay, you were right," Alex said to Kara.

Kara grinned and rubbed her knuckles against her chest. "It's a habit, yes. I wish you both would learn to just listen to me."

Alex snorted. "I believe last time I went out with you as Sentinel and listened to you, I got smashed into a wall. Through the wall, actually."

Kara snorted. "Okay, you should know better than to listen to me when we're fighting street hoods. I always underestimate them."

Alex's face fell into a deadpan. "Yes, I've noticed." She looked at Lena. "Is this going to be good for time?" They should not risk Lena being late, especially since Alex would be late. It would undo their careful planning to make sure it did not seem like Lena had spent Alex's rut with her.

Lena rolled her eyes. "I'm in okay with our boss. I think we can be a little late." She put more food to Alex's lips.

"But, do you want to be seen coming in with me?"

"You can come in a little later than I do. Now, open." Lena bumped the pancakes against Alex's mouth.

Alex did not fight it, opening her mouth. Kara curled up next to her, resting her head on Alex's shoulder. Kara busied her hands by running her fingers up and down Alex's thigh. It was enough to make her purr, but not enough to turn her on. This was beyond pleasant.

Alex sighed as she chewed and swallowed. She smiled at Lena, who smiled back and fed her the next forkful. As Alex ate, Lena placed a soft kiss on her forehead. Warmth spread through Alex from the small show of affection. What even was this? She had no idea how to classify this feeling.

"You deserve to be treated," Lena said, as if reading Alex's mind.

Kara wrapped an arm around Alex and kissed her neck. "You deserve to know you're special."

"You two do a great job at doing that," Alex replied. Another couple of pieces of pancake were put to her mouth and she ate without a word. Lena kissed her forehead once more. Why did such a simple action make her feel so secure?

Breakfast was finished before Alex was ushered to the bathroom to shower and prepare for work. Kara and Lena were like cheerleaders in getting her out of the penthouse. It was weird, but she enjoyed it. It got her through the day, working like a busy bee with joy fueling her. Then, she had to meet Vasquez for lunch.

"You're glowing, Danvers," Vasquez said as they sat down with a banh mi each. They also had chips and drinks.

Alex sucked her teeth. "Anyway."

Vasquez chuckled, shaking her head. "I'm not asking you to kiss and tell. I'm just saying it's obvious you had a decent rut."

Alex had no control over the contented sigh that escaped her. "Yeah, it was amazing. I think I'm where I'm meant to be with those two." They gave her everything she needed. They completed her.

"That's good. You deserve that much."

Alex waved off and took a huge bite of her sandwich. She had to hum as she chewed. Damn delicious. "What about you? Ready to do this?"

Vasquez nodded, taking her own bite of sandwich. She had no shame in talking around the food lump in her cheek. "As soon as Game Night happens."

"I'm sure it'll be right on schedule as long as nothing too insane happens. Kara hates missing Game Night."

Vasquez's brow furrowed and she took a moment to ask whatever was on her mind. "She always been so social?"

Alex shook her head. "Not until college. She had to come into her own, but she's been blossoming more before our eyes than anything else. She's constantly trying to build her tribe, and find her family. You should worry more about Lucy being busy that night. She's always missed a lot of Game Nights and then likes to complain we're not including her."

Vasquez laughed. "It'll be fine. She's making an effort to spend more time with me. She thinks she's been neglecting me."

"I'm sure you're not fighting her on that notion." Alex took another bite of her banh mi.

A lopsided grin settled on Vasquez's face. "Would you fight them?"

Alex snorted. "Not now." Earlier in their relationship, she would have fought tooth and nail. "I'm learning to rely on them and believe in them and let them treat me."

"Oh, did you end up doing the 'my omega' stuff?" Vasquez leaned forward, genuinely curious.

Alex smiled. "Oh, yeah. It was interesting. I liked it."

"You'd probably have enjoyed it more as an idiot teenager, but I'm glad you had a worthwhile time and got to experience that."

With a shrug, Alex ate more of her food. "I think I enjoyed it as much as you can. I've grown to appreciate both of them in their own ways, like Lena being an omega."

Vasquez nodded. "That's cool. You missed the security meeting, though."

Alex had to laugh at that. "But, you'll show me your very detailed notes and I'll meet up with Devin later if necessary." Not to mention, Devin would find her if she did not get the information on her own by tomorrow.

"She's actually got an interesting idea, which I definitely need to run by you. It makes sense to me, but I want to make sure it makes sense in the field," Vasquez said as she pulled out her phone. And, with that, everything was back to normal.

-8-8-8-8-

Kara needed to prepare for Game Night. They had missed a couple, one due to an emergency, and the other thanks to Alex's rut. And with that, she wanted to make sure she aired out the penthouse before anything. Lena also brought special incense that should disperse the rut smell out of the place. It worked well with Lena's heat, so Kara trusted that.

Then, she wanted to figure out what snacks to gather and serve. After that, she needed to figure out what foods to serve. She wanted to go beyond pizza.

"Are you really making a Game Night list?" Lena asked as she sat down next to Kara at the kitchen island counter. Kara had her tablet in front of her, tapping her chin in thought.

Kara smiled. "I want things to be really good for this Game Night since it's been a while. Plus, James will be back for this one and I want it to be a nice welcome for him."

"He accepted Cat's offer?" Lena was not surprised, predicting it would happen a few times. He had called her a couple of times to go back and forth over Cat's terms. She did not tell him if he should take it or not, merely pulled apart what Cat was willing to give and what James believed he deserved.

Kara nodded. "Yup. He'll be back and forth for a while, but is coming back. He'll tell you about it at Game Night probably."

"Anybody else guest starring at Game Night?" Lena asked, moving close enough for them to touch.

Kara's body tingled at the press of Lena's thigh against her own. A brightness swelled in her chest, as it always did when Lena or Alex was near. Each had their own unique feel, but it was always like having a star flickering to life inside of her. "No, but I like making Game Night an event."

Lena took a glance at her tablet. "Did you have things like this on Krypton?"

"You think I'm trying to recreate something from Kryptonian culture with you?"

"It wouldn't be the first time and we enjoy it. You know we'd jump all in to help you recreate it if that's something you're trying to do."

Kara nodded. "It's not the same thing and I don't need it to be the same thing. You played games with House members, but a lot of the time, they were silly games. It helped build trust among House members and helped people unwind because our outside society was so rigid and almost solemn outside. The world got to see your strict face, your frown, but your House got to see you smile or you got to make them smile."

Lena pursed her lips. "Strengthens family ties."

"Yeah, but I think our Game Night does even more than that. It turns us into family, even if we don't realize it. It bonds us to each other. But, that's part of why I like doing it. Beyond that, we all deserve to have fun together. We go through so much trauma together that we need positive things to associate with each other. We need to have positive memories with each other."

"Victories are positive memories."

Kara snorted. "Only sprinkles on our trauma. I mean, Alex getting hurt got us here, but do we like to remember Alex got hurt?"

Lena frowned. "You make a point. I don't like to think about that. But, you saying that, Game Night sometimes leads to trauma."

Kara waved that off. "It's never serious, even when it is. No matter what, we know no one will get hurt. And, it's good for us to be able to call each other out on things… beyond Brainy not getting social cues."

Lena laughed. "It's adorable. Do you want any help in planning Game Night?"

Kara tilted her head. She tended to like planning Game Night herself, but maybe it was simply out of habit. Having Lena by her side tended to make everything better, so why not this?

"I'll take help." Kara leaned over, kissing Lena's cheek. "I've got some ideas down, but I'm always open for more." She slid her tablet over to Lena to give the list a checkover.

Lena looked it over and added to the food. Kara hummed as she saw wings on the list. She had not thought of wings, even though finger foods were necessary.

"I want to do some different foods beyond our usual junk. Something special to help mark the occasion since we've missed the last couple of Game Nights," Kara said.

"Well, you're always a fan of pasta. We could have lasagna or something like that."

Kara was open to that idea. They put a little work in toward Game Night before Alex came in. She snatched Kara away from the counter and took her to the gym. They had a training appointment and Kara was never allowed to skimp on training.

Kara did not return to her Game Night planning for a full day, but that was fine. She got it done with input from Lena. Lena had a lot to add — a new game suggestion and tons of food ideas. Lena even assisted in decorating the penthouse. She might have to let Lena help her plan Game Nights from that moment forward. I can't believe I never asked her for help before this.

Kara was ready to bounce out of her shoes well before anyone was set to show up. Lena and Alex took turns distracting her. They were awesome.

Their usual friends arrived on time and enjoyed themselves with all of the games and food. James was bombarded with questions about him moving back to National City and what exactly Cat wanted him to do for CatCo. He smiled through every single question.

Although, James had been reluctant to take Cat up on her deal, he looked so happy to be back. His eyes shined as he moved about their group, making sure to touch whoever he might be next to, hugging or holding almost everyone — except J'onn. That would be weird, but everyone else was fine with it.

James was back where he belonged. He was meant to be with the Superfriends. They were family.

Beyond the friendly greetings and interrogations for James, they played several games. There was tons of food. She had gone with pizza, yes, as she loved pizza and would eat it every day if given the chance. But, there were also several types of empanadas, which she would also devour by the dozen if no one stopped her. Sliders, wings, and wraps were there for variety.

There were a couple of salads at Lena's insistence, which was good because M'gann and Nia both wanted something green. Lasagna and baked ziti were there, in case anyone desired a real meal. Whatever food was left over, Kara would enjoy finishing.

Game Night was normal for a couple of hours and then they hit a lull. Usually, they needed a break after acting like every single turn was a life-or-death struggle. That was when something unusual, and amazing, happened.

Vasquez dropped to one knee in front of Lucy. Kara flinched from the way everyone's heart rate spiked, except Vasquez and Alex anyway. Kara's eyes automatically sought out her more excited bond mate. Vasquez had not even said anything yet, but Lena already had tears in her eyes.

"I'll keep this short." Vasquez started. "Lucy, you are the love of my life and offer me the ultimate understanding of who I am as a person. I admire you in ways I didn't know could exist for a partner, for a person. I trust you completely and hope you feel the same. I wish to spend my life devoted to your happiness. I would be more than honored to spend the rest of my life with you. So, I ask you, before our family and friends, will you marry me?" She held up the ring.

Lucy beamed. "Yes," she said with great confidence. She was not surprised or caught off guard, only brimming with excitement.

Vasquez eased the ring on Lucy's finger before climbing to her feet. Lucy leaped into her arms, pressing a chaste kiss to her lips. The apartment erupted into cheers. Kara was the loudest. Games would have to wait now.

"Let's see the ring!" Nia screamed as she rushed over to Lucy with most of the party not far behind. Alex hung back with J'onn.

Kara floated over everyone for a glimpse of the ring. She had to flip upside down a little for the best look. It was beautiful. An emerald as green as Lucy's eyes set in platinum. It was simple, but gorgeous, and Kara gushed as much as everyone else.

"I'm proud of you two," J'onn said to Alex and Vasquez. He patted them each on the shoulder. Kara glanced over just in time to witness Vasquez blush.

"For having lives outside the DEO?" Alex guessed.

J'onn gave a low chuckle. "For opening your lives to each other and more. You're not meant to be alone and you deserve happiness after sacrificing so much to help keep people safe." He squeezed their shoulders, pulling them close.

Kara could not agree more with J'onn. So, she hurled herself at Vasquez for a hug. Vasquez yelped, but worked on hugging Kara back… as much as she could embrace a hyper Kryptonian who forgot the ground existed.

"Congratulations!" Kara squealed, twirling Vasquez around. "And thank you for doing this here! We can celebrate together!"

Vasquez laughed. "That was kinda the point."

"I'll get the champagne," Alex said with a smile and walked off to do that. She popped the cork and wasted no time passing around glasses.

Kara had champagne with everyone, despite it having no effect on her. Besides, that was not the point. This was a celebration. Lucy and Vasquez were getting married! She wished she had confetti to throw around. Everyone liked confetti, right?

Kara was overstimulated now. The world was too slow and sound was mostly a buzz. Focus did not exist for her for more than a few seconds. Even J'onn hugging Lucy barely held her attention. She needed to reset.

She stepped on the balcony, away from everyone. She took several deep breaths to calm down. She closed her eyes for a long moment, trying to clear her head of stimuli. As her head cleared, she caught the sound of Alex's heartbeat and then Lena's. She settled and realized how close Alex was. Alex was right inside the balcony doors with Lucy.

"You knew she was going to propose," Alex stated.

"She didn't outright say she would do it tonight, but she made her intentions clear, which was exceptional on her part," Lucy replied.

"She's always exceptional when she decides to do something. She was worried you wouldn't want it because of James."

"She said as much, but I'm glad she had you as a sounding board. She was right to worry. I probably would've run screaming had this been a surprise, especially with James here."

"Guess she's the one since you didn't do that."

Lucy laughed. "The only one, yes."

Alex chuckled. "Amazing you're not hardheaded enough to need two people to look after you."

"No, I think you don't see it right sometimes. Not only do all of you need two people to look after you, but all of you have the capacity and ability to take care of two people."

Alex sucked her teeth. "Don't get sentimental on me, Lane."

"No, one more, and then I'm going to punch you in the shoulder."

Alex gave a hearty laugh. "Not if I punch you first."

"Excuse you, but my alpha fiance is right over there and will fight you to the death for touching me and I'd enjoy watching it happen." Lucy paused. "But, no, I want you to know your friendship and input mean a lot to Vas. I know you helped her pick the ring, which was great. She said she would've freaked without you."

Alex scoffed. "She would've been fine. She's fine. She's one of the strongest people I know. She keeps me together most of the time."

Lucy sucked her teeth. "Just shut up and take the damn compliment, Super Soldier. Damn."

They laughed and Kara did not hold back anymore. She burst in, hugging them both. They both yelped, but hugged her back when they realized what happened. Kara locked eyes with Lucy.

"I'm sorry," Kara said. She helped make Lucy wary of relationships.

Lucy arched an eyebrow. "For the hug? Or multiple hugs? All were expected once I said yes."

Kara shook her head. "James."

Lucy scoffed and waved that off. "Don't be. That relationship was rocked long before you. Remember, he moved here without me."

"And what have I told you about eavesdropping?" Alex said.

Kara puffed out her cheeks. "I wasn't! You came and stood where I could hear you. I was here first."

Alex rolled her eyes. "Sure."

"Plus, you knew I was here!" Kara stared Alex down, daring her to deny it. Alex always knew when she was close.

Alex snorted, throwing her head to the side. "Go hug Vas and stop being a menace."

Alex was trying to save the moment before it got awkward. Kara let her and escaped the situation. Vasquez deserved hugs, anyway.

-8-8-8-8-

Lena was not sure what she felt once the overexcitement of the moment settled in her. She watched Kara and Alex as they navigated the room, unable to forget Alex saying she and Kara were a married couple. Yes, technically, they were, but something inside of her suddenly longed for more, longed for just that.

She wanted to stand before family and friends and proclaim her love for all to bear witness. She wanted them to all celebrate the moment with her. Unfortunately, she yearned to do that with both Kara and Alex. There was no legal way to make that happen. She wanted a magnificent gathering worthy of both of her lovers with both of them, which was at least doable.

"Hey, you okay?" James asked, coming to stand next to her.

Lena was confused for a moment before realizing she separated herself from the rest of the party. She was alone. "I'm fine. Lost in a fantasy for a moment."

James laughed. "Uh-oh. You just wanna get married," he sang the line a low voice. He wrapped an arm around her and pulled her in against his side.

Lena chuckled, putting her arm around his waist. If only he was this awesome when they dated… no, she still wanted Kara, even then. She had not been able to admit it to herself. "I suppose I do. I didn't think it mattered. I'm bond mates with Kara and, legally, we are married. I have it all."

"And, you want more, which is fine. There's more to be had, after all. You want to proclaim your love to the world."

Lena's brow furrowed. "Yes, but no. That's not why I want to get married, properly married. I want to celebrate our union with everyone else. I didn't realize how personal a bonding ceremony seemed until now. Yes, everyone celebrated with us, but it was like something between us. I'm not sure. I need to process." She glanced at him. "You're taking this well, though. I saw clapping Vas on the shoulder."

James shrugged. "I'm always happy when you ladies find love. I understand my shortcomings in the sense I'm a disappointing boyfriend at best."

"Is someone in therapy for their relationship issues?" She poked him and offered a teasing smile.

James laughed, yanking her even closer, taking her off her feet for a moment. "Obviously."

She gave him a squeeze. "It says a lot about you that relationships are why you're in therapy and not everything else."

He let her go to shrug. "Everything else makes more sense. But, don't jinx me. One day that might be me proposing and it'll stick."

Lena nodded. "I hope so. You're a good person. You would make any omega happy if you tried."

James sighed. "I obviously have work to do, but I'm happy for all of you and I'm happy to be close by to share in these moments again."

"We're glad you're back, especially Kara… even though she's preoccupied right now." Lena's eyes sought out Kara, only to find her picking up Vasquez and both of them grinning at each other.

"Kara's always glad for a moment to be overly happy. Of course, she deserves it. You deserve it, too, so you should go celebrate with everyone else. Go pick Lucy up. She'll love that." James chuckled.

Lena scoffed. "I'm pretty sure she punched Alex for that." Of course, Lucy liked punching Alex for anything. Alex always took it, glared at Lucy, and then sniped on Lucy's height again.

"Yeah, but that's Alex. Their friendship is beyond dysfunctional."

Lena laughed, but now her eyes went out for Alex. She was with Lucy and, of course, Lucy had to push her since she was within arm's length. They both laughed it off, though. Yeah, something was wrong with them.

"They're almost like siblings, right?" Lena asked.

"At this point, yes. I think it makes sense for both of them. Lucy probably wants a more reliable big sister and Alex needs to put her big sister-ness somewhere since she's been able to admit her relationship with Kara is something more than that."

That made sense. It was something Lena could understand, wishing she had a different, more reliable relationship with her own sibling. "I hope they eventually taper down the violence."

He glanced at them. "I don't think you should hold your breath on that one."

"You're probably right."

"So, back to you wanting to get married if you're not going to go back out there. Have you and Kara talked about marriage? Or when you think about marriage do you think about it as more a you, Kara, and Alex thing together?"

"Alex claims she doesn't want to get married and she thinks of me and Kara as a married couple."

He flashed her a shining smile. "Which you are."

"Yes."

"But, do you want this marriage thing to be all three of you or only you and Kara?"

Lena sighed. "Right now, I see it between me and Kara. But, I'm not sure if that's because we are married or if Alex put it in my head or if that's really how I see things because I'm further in my relationship with her than I am with Alex. Honestly, from my perspective, Kara and Alex are the old married couple."

James nodded. "I understand that and I can see it. You can talk to them about it?"

"Yes. We're pretty good at communication at this point." She trusted she could bring this up and receive positive input from them. Of course, Alex would not grasp it, as she was that thick, and Kara would argue that was not the case, claiming they were only bond mates and had been for years.

"Yeah, I think that's something I have to learn how to do with partners."

Lena grinned. "Yeah, it is. I'm glad you're self-aware now."

"Again, the therapy deserves the credit. But, I do want to see all of you happy."

"And we want to see you happy, too."

He stood up a little taller. "I know. It's one of the reasons I'm back. This type of support is hard to come by."

She snorted. "You don't have to tell me twice." She was shocked she had not managed to ruin this. Yes, she had come close a few times, but then again, she had to concede Kara believed in her enough to not give up on her. Lex had been there, yes, but only trying to feed the worst parts of her. Kara always tried to draw out the best of her, even when she fell. Kara always picked her up.

He wrapped an arm around her shoulders and pulled her close again. "Yeah, I know that, which is why I'm happy for you again. You deserve everything you get."

She rolled her eyes, bumping him with her hip. "You're such a sweet talker."

He grinned at her. "I do my best. Should we rejoin the party?" He stepped away and offered his elbow.

"Lets." She hooked her arm around his. They returned to the party together. They jumped right back into congratulating the engaged couple.

Game Night ended much later than expected, but that was fine. Lena, Kara, and Alex all collapsed on the couch as soon as everyone was gone. Lena looked out into the mess and decided it was Kara's problem. Game Night was her idea and she was the one with superpowers.

"That was amazing," Lena sighed.

"I'm so happy they did that here!" Kara squealed. Of course, she was. She probably would not sleep tonight, still way too keyed up.

"It was wonderful to see," Lena replied.

"Just to see?" Alex asked with a smirk.

Lena blew out a breath. "Okay, I'd be lying if I said I didn't get ideas."

Kara popped up. "Yeah?" She smiled. "I thought you looked very interested in what was going on."

"Yes, everything got me thinking, but I'm not quite sure what I'm thinking. What about you two?" Lena asked. She could not be alone in this.

Kara took a deep breath. "Somehow, this made me think I've been downplaying marriage and your culture."

Alex arched an eyebrow. "Downplaying our culture?"

"Yeah." Kara nodded. "You're both so open to being my bond mates, but I didn't really think about marriage. Hell, I'm the reason we eloped." She motioned between her and Lena. "It was just because I figured since we were bond mates, might as well do that. I felt like it was the same thing."

"It's not your fault," Lena replied, rubbing Kara's knee. "I didn't think marriage was important to me. I thought it was fine to elope after doing the bond mate ceremony because I considered them the same thing as well, but it's not the same thing." It was only now that her mind was working that out. Marriage and bond mates were truly different and it was not something simple like bond mates seemed more spiritual. There was something special about marriage, a different type of special to bond mates. She might work it out someday, but right now, it was just important. Marriage was important.

"It's not." Kara glanced around. "I don't understand why it's not the same thing, but it's not and I really want to give you that." She looked at Alex. "I want to give you that, too."

Alex scoffed and waved that off. "I don't need that."

Lena rolled her eyes. Alex might think she did not need it, but she did. It was why she asked Maggie to marry her. She might just think she could not have it in the way she wanted it.

"Why do you keep saying that?" Lena asked.

Alex's brow furrowed. "Because I'm happy as I am right now. I'm okay with how things are."

Lena was not sure if she believed that, but it could be somewhat true. She did not see herself marrying Alex because the relationship was not quite there yet. Alex might feel the same. And, Alex might not have ever considered marrying Kara, as Alex as all about embracing Kryptonian culture for Kara's sake. She respected that.

"So, you two getting married again?" Alex asked with a grin.

Lena sucked her teeth and pushed Alex's shoulder. "Don't tease."

"I'm not. It would be cute. I think our family would love it as much as we loved celebrating Vas' and Lucy's engagement. You deserve all that and more," Alex replied.

Kara's gaze narrowed, but she did not say anything. The information was stored away and being processed. Lena was past that. Marriage was in the future, the near future.

Next time: talks of marriage.
