Red trains fighting Bug Catchers, using Abby to defeat them. Spending a lot of time around them as, well… he had no idea where he was going in this forest.

He learned there was a trainer who could do to Abby what she did to their bugs. Brock from Pewder City! Sammy, the strongest of the Bug Catchers, said if Red can't beat Brock, he's not ready for what's out there!

"Brock…" he goes to the gym (Even if it looks so long, Blue gave up on waiting to fight him…) "Alright! I'm Red from Pallet Town! I'm here for my first badge!"

"First? Then we'll each be using 2 Pokémon…" Brock says "Each trainer has a style! Personally, mine is defense! My Rock-type Pokémon can withstand any blow you throw at them!"

Red walked to his end of the battlefield, he looked at his team "Sorry Abby! I don't think Rock Pokémon burn easy…"

A crowd forms to watch, the referee "Leader Brock has accepted a new challenger! Red from Pallet Town! Select your first Pokémon!"

"Jay! You got this!" Red tosses out Rattata!

"Go! Geodude!" Brock sends his own lead!

"Tail Whip!"

"Tackle!"

Brock's Geodude's defenses lower but he winds up defeating Jay! "Rattata is unable to battle! Geodude wins!"

Red sends out Pidgey "Jas! It's all up to you!"

"Tackle!" Both say to their Pokémon!

Pidgey flies around, and Geodude crashes into the bird! Geodude finally going down! "Geodude is unable to battle! Pidgey wins!"

"We got this Jas!" Red cheers!

Brock sends out Onix! Giving a confident grin as the towering rock snake brought fear into the little Pidgey "Bide!"

Red waited for the attack but it didn't seem to come "Tackle!" Jas crashes into Onix "Again!"

"Thanks for the energy kid!" Onix launched Pidgey away in a flash of light! "Bind!"

Onix began to crush Pidgey in its coils! Red looked up at Pidgey "Try… Sand-Attack!"

Pidgey's sand did nothing! Brock had Onix drop Pidgey "Enough! I don't want to hurt your Pidgey any worse! Come back with more training!"

Red catches the falling Pidgey, returning it to its Pokéball, the referee makes an announcement "Pidgey is unable to battle! Leader Brock wins!"
