Passing back through Cerulean as the road is blocked by a sleeping Snorlax, Red enters a nice forest Abby tilts her head skeptically, sensing trouble. Red confidently strides forward, only to immediately realize he's on an overgrown path with no clear direction.
Red wanders deeper into the forest. The trees become denser, and he starts to panic. Pokémon like Spearow and Oddish flit through the undergrowth, adding to the tension. He attempts to retrace his steps but ends up walking in circles. "Okay, stay calm. How hard can it be to find the exit?"
He stumbles into some Beedrill and barely escapes by diving into a bush. He sets up camp, sharing berries with his Pokémon that he found in said bush, and using Charmander's tail flame for warmth.
A little Meowth scampers by, likely looking for drinkable water as it passes by the berries it could eat. Red starts following it, thinking it might lead him out of the forest. As night falls, a sudden rainstorm hits, drenching Red and his team.
Abby struggles to keep her flame alight, and Red protects her by returning her to her Pokéball, enduring the lack of heat.
Following the stream, Red eventually stumbles upon the entrance to a cave. The storm rages behind him, and the cave provides much-needed shelter.
He sets up camp again, but the sound of Beedrill fills his ears again, he enters the cave to hide! He can't move far, he catches a Geodude, hoping it could help defeat Beedrill! But it immediately went to the PC…
He sends Jas out to battle them! It uses Fury Attack! Jas uses Wing Attack but gets hit by Poison Sting! The poisoned bird can barely fight! Jas is hit by 5 Fury Attacks in a row!
It begins to glow, and grow… "Jas!" She turns into a beautiful majestic bird! Pidgeot! "Wing Attack!" Two more attacks and Beedrill falls! "YES!"
"Beedrill!" Said a bug catcher as he ran "Maybe training against the wild Pidgeotto wasn't such a…" he sees Red… they realize they've been accidentally having a trainer battle "Hey… I'm Benny…"
"I'm Red." Red brings over Jas "You have any antidotes?" Benny sprays Pidgeot. "You wanna join us for camp?
The two took a rest. Red and Benny introduced their Pokémon to each other, Red meeting a Venonat for the first time! "It looks cool, huh? They live around Fuchsia City, I was trying to find another way there but..."
The two boys say at the same time "A Snorlax took a nap in the middle of the road!"
As they rested for the night, Red and his new friend hoped their luck would soon turn around, and they'd find their way past the sleeping Snorlax, or better, that the Snorlax would wake up! As the journey continues…
