Eventually, he felt ready, the ref standing by the battlefield "Leader Erika has accepted a new challenger! This will be a 3 on 3 battle! Red from Pallet Town, select your first Pokémon!"

"Go Drowzee!" Sending out the psychic tapir!

"You think I'm helpless without Sleep Powder?" Erika said, her tone didn't change but somehow she sounded more condescending… she pressed the button on her Pokéball "Go Victreebel… Razor Leaf…"

"Psychic!" Red called! Despite the deep cuts caused by the critical blow, Drowzee pushed through the pain to crush Victreebel!

"Victreebel is unable to battle! Drowzee wins!" The ref announced! Red was shocked! Unsure how he defeated it… a gym leader's Pokémon, it hit him! This was what type advantage feels like!

"Tangela…" she sent out a ball of vines with eyes "Wrap…"

Red watched Drowzee helplessly held in vines! "Psychic!" The already weakened Drowzee failed to focus enough to do his psychic attacks! Helplessly squeezed until Drowzee couldn't remain conscious!

"Drowzee is unable to battle! Tangela wins!" The ref announced!

Red thought to himself "Those vines… if they grab you! You can't even move!"

"Abby! You got this!" He sends her out! It's flaming tail protecting it!

"Growth…" said Erika, her Tangela taking it very literally! Growing from a tiny little guy to a sixth the size of the building! But Abby was not intimidated!

"Flamethrower!" Abby heard, listening to Red, she looked up and set Tangela ablaze!

"Mega Drain…" Erika told Tangela, wrapping its vines around Abby, raising her in the air, and trying to drain the life out of her!

"Flamethrower!" Red commands! Aiming her mouth directly at Tangela's eyes and exhaled flame, falling on her back as Tangela fell with a massive thud!

"Tangelo is unable to battle! Leader Erika has one Pokémon left!" Said the ref! The crowd looking down at her!

"Rest…" said Erika as she returned Tangela! "Vileplume let's go…" The crowd cheered seeing Vileplume come out! Erika's powerful ace! "Don't forget why you came to me… Sleep Powder…"

Green powder launches from the flower on top of her head, putting Abby to sleep and getting returned to her Pokéball… "Have a peaceful sleep Abby…" tossing out his mighty Pidgeot! "Jas! Let's go! Mirror Move!" Jas flapped her wings to send out wind, blowing that leftover powder back to Vileplume!

"I can't believe it folks! The challenger has put Erika's strongest Pokémon to sleep using her own move!" Announced the ref!

"Wing Attack!" Jas heard! Listening to Red, she dive-bombed Red over and over!

As Vileplume begins to wake the first thing to hit her ears: "Acid…"

"Quick Attack!" Red commanded! Jas flying through the pedals and crashing into her at full speed!

"Vileplume and Pidgeot are unable to battle! If Charmeleon can wake up in time, challenger Red wins the Rainbow badge!" The ref announces!

Red releases Abby from her Pokéball, letting the ref begin:

"1… 2… 3… 4… 5… 6…" Abby begins to open her eyes "7… 8…" Abby stands! "Charmeleon can battle! The winner is Red from Pallet Town!"

"I concede defeat. You are remarkably strong. I must confer you the Rainbow Badge." Erika walks over and hands over her badge

Red has won an epic battle, interviewed a the Pokémon Center, when asked "How do you feel after battling the master of sleep?"

"I need a nap…" he jokes
