We open in Red's fight! "Janine of Fuchsia City has accepted a battle with Red of Pallet Town! Select your first Pokémon!"

"Go! Drowzee!" Red sends out!

"Crobat! Wing Attack!" Janine ordered as she released her Pokémon! The bat has 4 wings! Crashing directly into Drowzee!

"Psychic!" Red commanded! One shot and it's down!

"Crobat is unable to battle! Drowzee wins!" Announced the ref

"Return!" She put Crobat back in the Pokéball, tossing out her next "Go Weezing!"

"Psychic!" Red shouted! Drowzee's attack was super effective but Weezing managed to tank it!

"Explosion!" Said Janine! Weezing glowing before releasing a burst of energy!

"Both Pokémon are down!" Announced the ref "This is a draw!"

"Return!" Said both trainers!

"Ariados! You've got this!" Said Janine as she sent out a little spider!

"Go, Rick!" Red sent out his Gastly! "Lick!"

Janine pointed forward "Night Shade!" Rick gets bit by Ariados's shadow, but it pushes through to strike with its tongue!

"Night Shade!" Said both trainers! Both Pokémon attack with pure darkness! Reflected shadow of themselves!

Ariados' shadow returns to normal last as Rick becomes a simple ball of gas once again, the ref holding up a flag "Gastly is unable to battle! The winner is Ariados!"

"Rhyhorn! Let's go!" Red sending out a Rock type to counter the bug! "Horn Attack!"

Janine smirks "Giga Drain!" Ariados not only heals herself but crushes Rhyhorn before it even reaches her!

The ref announces "Rhyhorn is unable to battle! Ariados wins!"

Red has only one left, the one with him the longest! "Jas! I choose you!" Sending out the majestic bird it knew without needing to be told to use Wing Attack!

"Ariados is unable to battle! Pidgeot wins!" The ref announced as the attack sent Ariados flying! A shocked Janine takes longer than normal to return her spider…

"Venomoth! I've known you since you were an egg! You can do it!" She says, sending out said Venomoth!

With a similar bond with her Venomoth, she silently commended the moth, causing it to create swarms of illusionary duplicates and releasing dust that badly poisoned the bird!

Despite the rapidly ticking timer that was Toxic, Jas continued to attack! All she needed was…

Hit!

And she got it… the ref sees the illusions vanish as Venomoth faints! "Venomoth is unable to battle! The winner is Red from Pallet Town!"

"You did it, buddy…" Red gives his Pidgeot an antidote and returns her to her Pokéball… he walks up to Janine with his hand out "Alright! The Soul badge!"

She chuckles "I'm flattered you believed I could be the gym leader! But no…"

The room fills with smoke! "Well done Janine!" Said a voice, before the source is revealed as the room clears, a man in purple "I am Koga! Janine's father and the real leader of this gym! You proved yourself against her, let your Pokémon rest and you may battle me!"

"I'm not sure I have to! I have 2 fully rested left! How's about a 2 on 2!?" Red announced "Right here! Right now!"

"Very well…" Koga said, taking his place, as Janine joined the stands to watch!

"I wasn't expecting both father and daughter to battle the challenger today, but it seems that the gym leader has accepted the offer!" The ref announces "Hope you all have time for a surprise double feature! Leader Koga has accepted a 2 on 2 battle with Red from Pallet Town!"

"Cabbage! You've got this!" Said Red as he brought out Gloom

Koga did not announce his choice, simply bringing out a Muk

"Petal Dance!" Said Red! Without a word, Koga got Muk to avoid the attack by shrinking, but the Sludge it fired back certainly wasn't small… As the Pedals stopped, Cabbage was super dizzy… "Acid! Now!" Cabbage, unable to properly aim, shot acid straight up, gravity bringing the attack down and knocking her out!

"Gloom is unable to battle! The winner is Muk!" The ref announced

Red thought to himself "Koga… that's why they call you a ninja! You can command Pokémon without talking as they know you so well… but if my rescue in Celadon is any indication, I can do the same with…" Big Dig comes out! No words are spoken! Dig hits but gets Disabled! "I can't use Dig, biting a blob of sludge hurts my Raticate more than the Muk! But I still have…" Quick Attacks chip away at Muk, who retaliates with its Sludge! Eventually, Muk can't take it anymore!

"Muk is unable to battle!" The ref announces "But I pity the poor rodent knowing what comes next!"

A Weezing is sent last! It glows just like Janine's! "Like daughter like father!" Red thought to himself! "You don't need to win! You just need me to lose!"

The Self-Destruct goes off! Raticate is nowhere to be found! "Dear Arceus…" the ref could barely find words "I think… he's dead!" He begins to cry "Ladies and gentlemen… this battle ends in a tragic-" The crowd goes into thunderous applause as Raticate pops out of the ground! Having not disintegrated! The ref smiles wide! "Unbelievable folks! Disable wore off just in time to evade the devastating attack! The winner is Red from Pallet Town!"

Koga returns his Weezing! With a smile on his face and badge in hand, he approached Red… "You have proven your worth! Here! Take the Soul Badge!"

Red returned Big Dig and took the badge "I'm impressed by the link you share with Muk and Weezing! If you don't mind, I'd love to train with you!" Koga silently agrees
