Back in Pallet, Red is interviewed, he's asked about his Cinnabar Gym fight, and Red says that "That was nothing for a guy like me! Next Viridian! Then the league! Unless the leader's too Torchic to fight me!"
Giovanni is warned by his admins not to fight Red, "Boss, we can go to Jhoto! We have bases, you can run crime from the shadows! We have the body double ready to fake-"
Giovanni doesn't listen, he stands his ground! "Fwahahaha! This is my hideout! I planned to resurrect Team Rocket here! But, you have caught me again! So be it! This time, I'm not holding back! Once more, you shall face Giovanni, the strongest trainer!"
Red knew he was bluffing, Team Rocket was falling apart "It's over Giovanni…"
"5 on 5…" Giovanni puts the Earth Badge on the line. Red silently put his 7 badges on the line. Giovanni, seeing Red's wager, rips his uniform, removing the red R, setting it next to the badge "Silver, do the honors."
A boy walked in, here to referee, no more than seven "Pick your first Pokémon!" He said as Team Rocket's members filled the audience.
Giovanni brings out Dugtrio, and Red brings out Jordan, firing Ice Beam "Dig!" Giovanni ordered Dugtrio to evade the attack by burrowing through the ground! Jordan fired water into the hole, and Dugtrio struck! A second Ice Beam strikes!
"Dugtrio is unable to battle! Lapras wins!" Said the red-headed child
"Nidoking! Thrash!" He sends out Nidoking! He rushes wildly, crashing into Lapras!
"Lapras is unable to battle! Nidoking wins!" Announces the boy
Red brings out Fonzie! Giovanni's Nidoking keeps thrashing around! Knocked over! Launching a Surf attack at the enemy! Giovanni's Nidoking is dizzy "Horn Attack!"
Despite the confusion, Horn Attack hits! Fonzie is down! Causing the child to announce "Nindoking… er… Red's Nidoking, is unable to battle! Dad's Nidoking wins!"
Red sends out ATV "Thrash!" Giovanni orders! But before it connects, Psywave defeats Nidoking!
The boy is shocked! A Venomoth beating a Nidoking, with such an unreliable move! After a pause, he makes the call "Nidoking is unable to battle… Venomoth… wins?"
"Nidoqueen! Body Slam!" Giovanni sends out Nidoqueen, flopping on top of Venomoth! Another Psywave goes off, but it barely does a thing…
"Use another Body Slam!" Venomoth is hit again!
The boy is received, it must have been luck "Venomoth is unable to battle! Nidoqueen wins!" Jas comes out! She's beaten Nidoqueen before and does so again! "Nidoqueen is unable to battle! Pidgeot wins!"
"Go Rhydon!" He sends out a towering rock monster! Red recalled his past encounter with the beast, Red cried as he tried in vain to return Flareon to his Pokéball, but it just wasn't working! He saw the attack connect… Flareon… his new companion… the flame in his eyes snuffed out…
Jas tried a Wing Attack, but it did nothing…
"Rock Slide!" Jas is defeated in one blow! Giovanni laughs as Red returns the Pidgeot…
"Pidgeot is unable to battle! Rhydon wins!" Announced the boy!
Giovanni was glad to be on top once again! Beating Red! He had no concern for how petty it was! He has him beat! Then… heard a buzz… as the door opened… his Beedrill… after all these years…
"Most don't know who the Viridian Gym Leader is, you're here so sparsely, but I do, I did research, and I know your history…" Red explained
A bug catcher walked in "My name is Sammy, I, really love Weedle, Kakuna, and especially Beedrill. People say they aren't strong, but they can be if you put in the work… I heard of how you lost your Beedrill… I found it for you…"
Giovanni began to cry, in awe of his Beedrill… it came back… His first Pokémon, the idea he dismissed, of a bond for life… this was irrefutable proof it is real… He walked up to it, not to fight or capture it, but to pet it…
Beedrill seems happy to be reunited….
Red held up a Pokéball, Giovanni looked at him, he knew what to do! He takes off the torn Team Rocket jacket, tossing it into the crowd! Red tossing out Omanyte! Team Rocket tried to steal it when they first met, but now, it will be the one to best Boss Rocket!
Finally understanding the bond he had! He wordlessly commanded Rhydon, just as Red did with Omantye! "You'll never beat me Red! I have nothing left to lose! Battles are my life, you always had friends!"
"You do have a life, stop talking and listen…" Red tells him with a kind smile
Giovanni looked to the crowd! All the grunts cheering him on! The Executives are all watching! He had a life, he just forgot to live it! He wished he had seen it earlier! All these people screaming his name! "Ariana! I'll win! For Team Rocket! For you!" He looks to Silver, a boy too young to train! "Watch me son!"
The two are more into the fight than ever! Trading blows! Both are so durable they survive even super-effective hits! The battlefield is demolished as Rhydon uses Fissure, a massive crack in the floor swallowing Omanyte!
"Omantye is-!" Silver is cut off by a bright light in the cracks in the floor! A fully evolved Omastar bursts out of the damaged floor! Rhydon is defeated in one Hydro Pump! Silver was too shocked to speak…
So Giovanni announced it for him "Rhydon is unable to battle, I concede to you, Red… you win." He gives a badge and his favorite TM "The Earth Badge is evidence of your mastery as a Pokémon trainer! With it, you can enter the Pokémon League! It is my gift for your Pokémon League challenge! Any trainer with 8 badges can command any Pokémon, no matter their strength… Fissure will take out Pokémon with just one hit! I made it when I ran the Gym here, too long ago..."
Red took both with grace, seeing Beedrill by Giovanni's side, as Rhydon returned to its pokéball. "I see now love is more powerful than anything I could make…" he tears the R he took from his jacket in half "Team Rocket is finished forever! I will dedicate my life to true strength! Loving Pokémon…" he throws a smoke grenade on the ground…
And Red never saw him again…
