Red recalled the day he caught Zapdos… Zapdos is on a rampage! The Pokémon at Oak's lab trying to stop it! Dux and Zubat flew up to engage in aerial combat but were fried with lightning! Exeggcute and Paras tried to put it to sleep, Red sending out Cabbage and Drowzee to do the same, but Zapdos crushed them too! Geodude stepped up, immune to electricity, Red liked the idea and sent out Rhyhorn! Zapdos used Drill Peck to fall both, only noticing after that Big Dig the Raticate tunneled the others to safety… a Thunder brought the rat down! Red sent out Jas, striking with Quick Attack, finally felling the bird!
He hoped Giovanni was right about him being ready to command any Pokémon, so he let Zapdos on the team, he thought naming Zapdos would make it less scary, so he named it AA, and went to face the Elite Four…
Despite being up against mostly Water-types AA was weak to ice, a problem against Lorelei. His only direct counter to ice? Omastar, who finished the battle! Red wins!
Against Bruno, Onix got Red to toss out Omastar, but it was a trick, to bait Red, he sent out Hitmonlee, who defeated Omastar with a High Jump Kick! Jas beat Hitmonlee, but Hitmomchan had a powerful Ice Punch! Switching to AA, he beats Hitmonchan! Red had a premonition, Elite Four Bruno is about to use Onix! He has another! He switched to Fonzie! A Surf beats Bruno's Onix! Machamp came out, he and Fonzie used Fissure at the same time! Both go down…
Against Agatha, Fonzie and AA crushed Arbok and Golbat, while her ghosts, being weak to themselves, fall to Jas' mirror move!
Finally, against Lance, the back and forth is over… Dragonite protected itself with a psychic barrier, something Red thought a Dragonite couldn't do… Its agility was so great, Jordan's ice attacks couldn't land…
His Pokémon went down one by one, even his legendary bird helpless against the beast… "I can hardly believe the massacre! The first to face Lance since our new champion rose, and the raw power of Dragonite has worn down the challenger!" Announced the ref
Red had one Pokémon left… ATV was out… "I believe in you buddy…" Dragonite was about to fire Hyper Beam, but ATV, unlike the others, knew Disable! The attack fizzled and Dragonite had to get close, close enough to inhale toxic dust! ATV flew away! It had to avoid Dragonite! Every hit it landed didn't even make it flinch, and it was painfully obvious Dragonite only needed one blow to end this!
Then… Disable wore off… a Hyper Beam is charged up! Then… the poison kicks in, and Dragonite falls with a massive thud! The ref announces that "Dragonite is unable to battle! The winner is Red from Pallet Town!" And the crowd cheers!
