A/N: Thank you for all the reviews. I wanted to mostly show my gratitude to all that have complimented my writing. A year ago I decided to take a leap into this fan fiction, not really knowing what I was doing. I read other fan fictions, the works of so many talented writers, and decided I should try my own with my own style. The response has been overwhelming and I thank you for that.
I first thought of this story as a one shot. I didn't really have a time line for moving it along. As I continue to write it, I am reminded that it is a story of two people healing, falling in love, and dealing with personal problems. As much as I want to time warp, I think it would do the characters injustice if I do.
I know I may have introduced a few storylines all at once, but they will be dealt with one by one, in this chapter Mellie will be out of the picture for some time.
I am working up to the climax, the true test for when Liv and Fitz see if they truly are one for each other. As for Huck, he is the connection between both Fitz and Liv. He saved Fitz's life and as you will see here, saved Liv's life, and now they are together because of him, a person who had thought of taking his own life also.
With that, sorry for the rant. I know as an author I shouldn't have to explain myself, but I wanted my readers, dear readers, to know I am writing this story with the my heart. Thank you and enjoy.
Chapter 16—"Thank you"
Olivia woke up suddenly from the dream she was having. It wasn't a dream that startled her, it was a dream that comforted her. She was sitting at a big dinner table, in the most elegant house, with her three children. Fitz was in the kitchen preparing the last of the food to bring to the table.
As all the kids were washed up and were waiting for food to be plated, Olivia talked to them about their day at school. This was her family, her life, and it was everything she ever imagined. Her oldest was their daughter, and then two boys, each a year apart from one another. Each boy the spitting image of their father and their daughter a clone of Olivia.
After Fitz put the dishes of food onto the table, he walked by Olivia. She thanked him as his comforting arms came around her shoulders and he kissed her gently on the cheek. "You're most welcome, my Livvie, this is the family I lived for."
That's when Olivia opened her eyes. It may have been a dream, but Fitz's arms were around her, just as she imagined. She glanced at the window, and it was still pitch dark outside. She imagined it couldn't be later than 4 a.m. She couldn't remember when she slept so calm, her dream so soft. Usually, her dreams had her waking up shivering.
Fitz's arms had her enclosed and even without a blanket, that had fallen to the side, she felt warm. She took a moment and looked up, he was sound asleep, his breathing shallow. He was wearing the same shirt she had met him in, his Navy seals shirt, and as she scoped her eyes down, he was in dark blue boxers.
She remembered back to the night they got lost in a kiss, her on top of him. She felt his reaction, felt him, and she moved her eyes away, feeling guilty about thinking about it as he slept. Still, would she find the courage to ever take all of him? She wanted so much to make him feel good, feel alive.
She took this time to examine his features, being this close to him without him awake. God, she hoped she wasn't dreaming. He was amazing. Aside from his strong, solid arms, his features were exquisite. She never realized how hard his chest was and she didn't dare to move to rub her hand over it, despite her urge to do so. She didn't want to disturb his sound sleep; she knew he didn't get much of it.
As much as she hated Mellie's presence and her audacity to be at Fitz's house, she couldn't help but feel a little thankful for Mellie's selfishness. It gave her this moment right now, to fully look over this man she knows as Fitzgerald Grant. She had to wonder though, why a man with his physique did not sleep with his shirt off, but she is not one to question that.
Looking back up at his facial features, she held back all the desire to caress his face. His five-o clock shadow beginning to form, and he had the tiniest hint of stubble on his chin. It looked so darn cute, and she wanted to just give it a little peck with her lips. She didn't though and continued her staring.
His hair, light brown, and his curls all disheveled from the pillow, no doubt. What she wouldn't do right now to run her fingers through his hair and feel his soft curls. She just couldn't believe she was in his arms noticing every pore on his face looking at his features. Suddenly, her body grew numb. It was a sensation she couldn't describe. It wasn't fear, it wasn't comfort, it was just numbness, kind of an out of body experience, like you shouldn't be doing something, but you are anyhow, and you're watching yourself do it.
She had known him for a just about a month now. Could they really have such strong feelings for each other? He had told her he was falling in love with her, but never brought it up again. Was it just that moment, the feelings from all that happened that day in the park and what spilled into the night? Maybe they were pushing just a bit too fast and should slow it down.
Fitz suddenly jerked in his sleep, his head moved from side to side, and she heard him clenching, no grinding his teeth. His arms, never letting go of Olivia, as if he were holding her for her own safety in whatever he was seeing in his dream. Olivia scrunched her shoulder to her neck to bring herself a bit closer to him, perhaps for some comfort.
"Mike, no, not that again, I need to get out, for five minutes. Mike, I said no, tell them no!" Then he fell silent and turned his head to the left, fully facing Olivia now. Olivia just stared at his face. Although his eyes were still closed, she saw so much pain as his eyebrows crossed down, and she heard him grind his teeth once more. "Mike, tell them for me, please." Then silence again, and he seemed to calm down.
Olivia couldn't take it anymore. Staring fully now at his gorgeous face, she started at the top corner of his lips and traced a line down to his chin, ever so gently. She kept her finger right on his chin as she stared at him, that numbness still overtaking her body. "This is going too fast, Olivia, slow it down" her inner voice kept telling her.
She then moved her finger from his chin slowly down his neck and rested it on his chest, right in the middle, where she opened her hand placed it gently on his heart, as she felt it beat. This man's heart shouldn't be beating for her, he deserved someone who could love him back without fear. Her love was cursed, and she didn't want that for this man. She was looking at his chest rise and fall, then felt his head shift and a gentle kiss on top of her head welcomed her to look up.
Fitz was staring back down at her, with a small smile on his face. "Hi", he whispered, "what are you doing?"
"Hi", she whispered back. "I am just watching your chest rise and fall and staring at your gorgeous features. I am stalking you with my eyes, Fitz, if I should be honest." She looked up at him and his lips came down to hers. She welcomed the warmth of them as her hand grabbed his head just behind his ear.
As the kiss got a bit deeper, he stopped. "Livvie." His body was reacting, and he didn't want to pressure her in any way.
"Fitz, it's ok." She let her eyes wander down. No longer were his boxers just a solid blue, they were solid blue with a big erection looking back at her. Yes, big, and she couldn't imagine her ever fitting that inside her. Her hand came slowly down from his face and followed the path of his chest and it rested right on top of his boxers on the opening. She looked back up at him. "May I?" He closed his eyes and nodded his head, yes.
She pulled the boxers down and for the first time felt her skin on his, other than his face and neck, as she gripped his erection. As she held it in her hand, she felt it grow a bit more and looked at him. His eyes were closed, and he was struggling to accept her touch. He was groaning, ever so slightly, and it turned Olivia on more than she opted to admit.
"Let me make you feel good, Fitz, just go with it, relax." She started stroking at the tip and her hand fully engulfed his huge bulge as she moved a bit faster up and down. She felt his body tense, then settle down. His hand was caressing her face as the other rested on his chest. As she picked up the pace just a bit more, she heard a grunt of pleasure escape from his throat to his mouth.
In the same motion as her hand moved to caress his balls, and then followed the vein back up to the tip, she tilted her head to begin kissing his neck. His other hand no longer rested on his chest, as he grabbed her gently from behind the ear and planted a kiss, tongue dancing in her mouth, devouring her lips. She continued stroking him and she felt his stomach tense up as his kiss went deeper, giving Liv a little opening to breathe.
Finally, he let his mouth hold on her stop, and he tilted his head back and he gripped her shoulder as his breathing grew heavier and she knew he was close. She rolled her thumb around his tip, feeling some wetness and then wrapped her hand fully around it and continued with a steady stroke. "Livvie, I'm going to, shit Livvie," and his body spasmed as he exhaled a few times, Liv never letting go until she was sure she emptied him.
His grip on her shoulder loosened for a moment, then went tight again as he breathed deeply into her hair. Through his gasping breaths, he whispered "Livvie, thank you, oh my God, thank you."
Using her other hand, she pulled his boxers down a bit more to release her hand that finished the job and slowly walked towards the bathroom. He heard running water, and within a minute she was back as he felt the warmth of a washcloth clean all around just below his stomach and down around his shaft. She dropped the cloth on the floor and secured her place back in his arms.
"How was that?"
"That was amazing, unexpected, but amazing. I haven't felt that in, well, in many years. And for you, I think I owe you."
"In due time Mister, I won't forget." She gave a smile.
They lay in silence for a few moments. "Who's Mike?" Liv asked.
Fitz's body stiffened. "How do you know Mike?"
"I don't know Mike; you were saying his name in your sleep. You were pleading with him to help you."
"Mike was a friend of mine from the war. He helped me, helped me stay alive. He saved my life more than once."
"Is he still alive?" Liv asked.
"I honestly don't know. We got separated one day and I never heard from him again. I wish I had a chance to say thank you. I want him to know I am paying it forward, not a lot, not what I promised him, but I am living and that's what matters."
He looked down to see her staring at him. "Fitz, was it really bad over there? I know war is war and nothing is ever good about it but was it really bad?"
He pulled her a bit closer to him. "It was bad for some, for others it was worse, and for a few it was torture. Getting out alive was the end game. The last time I saw Mike, he was alive, but I never heard from him since. He isn't an easy guy to find and war messes you up in so many ways, that I am sure he doesn't want to be found, if he ever did come back."
"I hope one day I can help you with those demons Fitz. I see how they pain you. I have a feeling Mike is alive, one day you will find him, I feel it in my gut. What would you say to him?"
"I'm not sure. What do you say to someone who saved your life over again? What do you say to someone who protected you when you least expected it?"
"You know," Liv began "Two weeks after Huck got the position at the company, he knocked on my door. No one ever knocked on my door, they were too afraid of me, but Huck, he just knocked. I wasn't one to have visitors in my office, but I let Huck in."
Liv thought back to the time on the subway when a guy had grabbed her, and Huck threw him to the tracks. Liv wasn't sure what that guy would've done to her, but Huck saved her, except he never saw it like that.
"He sat in the chair across from me and just stared at me for about five minutes, it was kind of awkward, but I just let him be, I knew he had his own demons. So, I waited. Finally, he spoke. Thank you, Olivia, he said, you saved me. He said I got to him at a time when he was just about ready to jump in front of a train because it hurt that much. It was that moment, during that meeting that I realized the hell our soldiers must feel being thousands of miles from home fighting to stay alive."
"Huck sounds very grateful for what you did for him. I guess that's how I feel about Mike. So many times, I wanted to end it, but he always showed up at the right time. He always gave me signs I would be ok, now look here I am. Still have the demons, but this past month, they've died down a bit." He interlocked his hand with hers.
"Fitz, do you think we are moving too fast? Do you think..I don't know I just have so many feelings, so many emotions, so many fears, and I don't want us to jump into something we aren't ready for. So many things can still happen to mess this up."
He put his hand behind his head and looked at her. "What are you saying? You want to take a break? Stop seeing each other for a while?"
Fitz sounded worried, which wasn't Olivia's intentions. "No, it's just you have the Mellie situation to deal with, I have the Edison situation to deal with. I may have to take a trip back to New York. Then there's DJ. That guy isn't going to lay in a hospital bed forever, and who knows what he has planned? I just feel we need to…I don't know…I am just scared Fitz. I am scared for you, to be with me."
"Liv, we'll work it all out, one by one, I'm dealing with Mellie in a few hours, and why would you have to go back to New York, where did that come from?"
Liv thought of the body, Bryce and his team still trying to figure things out. If Huck shows up, a stranger in town with a body found, she was afraid they may put two and two together.
"Fitz, I am the last one to want to take things slow. I kissed a boy I loved and two hours later he was dead. I smiled at my father and five minutes later he was dead. I know if you don't grab life when you have the chance it could all be over, and I just don't want you to think I am rushing you into something you may not be comfortable with, just because I am impatient."
"Mr. Harris, the owner of the company, asked me to be available for three months, until after the holidays. I did leave with some major clients making decisions about using our firm, and I may have to go back for work reasons, but that's all. I have every intention of building my life here."
Even though she wasn't completely lying, it was an out to get Huck away from Rutland until this body discovery died down. She was waiting on word from three top tier companies to go with them, Morgan Stanley, Citicorp, and UBS. If they close with Financially Yours, not only would Olivia get some of the profits, but she will also have Mr. Harris set for the future and leave the CEO replacement in a good place. She would be completely comfortable staying in Vermont then without any guilt of leaving the company behind.
Fitz sat up in the bed, causing Liv to sit up with him. He put his arm around her shoulder and pulled her close to him. "Whatever you need to do in New York to leave your career behind, that's fine, but there's nothing going too fast here. I spent two years of my life not knowing if I'd make it out of Iraq alive. I have spent five years here laying low and nervous to live. You've made me come alive, and I don't want to waste another moment on things that aren't right. This, Livvie, this is right, and I am not going anywhere."
They both drew their attention towards the window. The morning light starting to come in and it reminded Olivia of their first kiss. Every sunrise from now on in her life will always bring her back to that moment. It felt so right, and Fitz was right, wasting time on thoughts just wasn't worth it.
Liv took a deep breath. "Huck should be arriving shortly, and Abby asked me if I would go to Sophie's early. Leo is there baking, and I want Huck to have some freshly made muffins, he probably didn't eat the whole ride here, knowing Huck. I am going to shower. You are sticking around?"
"Yeah, I am going to call Wilbur Sinclair, Mellie's father. I'll be out back on the phone." Their eyes met and Fitz gave her a gentle kiss on the lips before leaving the bed and grabbing his phone. He put on his jeans and headed towards the back.
Liv put her face in her hands. She rubbed her face, taking away any negative thoughts and reached for her iPad. She didn't want to, but she figured she should face time her mother since she hadn't spoken to her on Thanksgiving. She figured Fitz would be out of the room for a bit, so she used the time to call.
Maya picked up on the first ring. "There's my Livvie, you look relaxed. What state are you calling me from today? Colorado? Montana? Did you find yourself a cowboy now?" Maya gave a chuckle. "Hopefully you took my advice, I haven't heard from you, so I figured you did."
"I am still in Vermont mom, and yes I took your advice. I am with Fitz for the time being, and we're, well we're working it out." Olivia couldn't contain the smile.
"Girl, you got it bad don't you, I can tell. When are you going to let me match that sexy voice to a face? I am so glad you didn't run. I am proud of that Livvie. Now what do you mean for the time being?"
Just like she explained to Fitz, she explained to Maya. "Well as long as it's for the right reasons. You shouldn't leave the company that took a chance with you high and dry. It's only fair to Mr. Harris and his employees. He's losing one of the best."
"I know. Huck is coming up, we've been having an Edison problem and Huck is here to help out, to watch out for any tricks." Again, Olivia found herself explaining the whole situation to her mother leaving out the dead guy part.
"Baby, you have too much drama going on, you are giving me a headache. Just settle things and get that man for yourself will you.?"
Olivia heard the door slide open. Fitz turned to her "No shower yet? Wilbur is still sleeping; his housekeeper is going to have him call back in a few minutes."
Liv looked back down at the iPad. Her mother's eyebrows went up instinctively. "Don't you dare end this call Livvie. Fitz is that you?"
Fitz crossed his eyebrows with a smirk and Liv mouthed, my mother, pointing down to the screen. "Yes mom, that's Fitz."
"Ooh, and so early in the morning, did he spend the night?"
"Mom!" and Liv knew her face was flushed. She looked up at Fitz. "Come say hi to my mom?" She regretted it immediately after she said it but couldn't stop it now.
Fitz walked over and put his chin on Liv's shoulder. He looked at the screen. "Hello Ms. Pope, pleasure to meet you. You have an incredible daughter."
"Hmm, don't I know it. Now, Fitz, I know she is difficult, don't let her try to get anything over on you. You sound like a very intelligent man."
"Thank you, Ms. Pope, I will keep that in mind."
"Please call me Maya, and Liv book that plane ticket sooner, I want to see him in the flesh, because he is as sexy as his voice. The pleasure has been all mine Fitz."
Liv looked back at Fitz, and he was blushing as he waved. "Mom, I will call you next week. I love you."
"Love you too baby. Bye Fitz….mmm hmmm." She winked before Liv could end the call.
As Fitz's phone rang, Liv made her way to the bathroom to take a shower. After that conversation she was going to need one.
"Mr. Sinclair, thank you so much for calling me back, I apologize if I interrupted your sleep in any way."
"Fitzgerald, you are never a bother, you know that. Have you heard from Melody? I haven't heard from her, and I hate to keep bothering your father."
"I have heard from her, there's something you should know Wilbur. Mellie has herself in a bind and as much as I would like to help her, I think she needs you in this crucial time."
Fitz went on to tell Wilbur Sinclair the story of Mellie leaving Vermont back in July. He continued to her return to the park two weeks ago and how she connived Big Gerry to get her to stay until after the holidays.
"I am sorry for you to hear me say this, Mr. Sinclair, you have always been good to me, but I cannot be a part of what Mellie is trying to do. She is going to try to convince Rutland that I am the father, and I assure you I am not."
"Fitzgerald, you have always been a hero of mine. I told your father when you were over in Iraq how brave you were to stay there and help your fellow soldiers when you tried to come home. For two years you risked your life for our country."
"Thank you, Mr. Sinclair, I appreciate that, and I know how friendly you are with my father, but what Mellie is doing…"
"Is downright wrong, Fitzgerald, and I don't appreciate that. She is an adult, and she needs to start acting like one. What do you think we should do to put an end to this charade?"
Fitz told him his plan to talk to Mellie, and for Wilbur to call her in about an hour. Within a few hours he would have her on a plane back to Raleigh and he would get her car back down there somehow, but for now, she must leave before things get messy. "If she tries to say I am the father, with no disrespect, I will have to take her to court to prove otherwise."
"I understand Fitzgerald. I will wait an hour and I will call her. Thank you for the phone call, but may I ask why didn't you call me sooner?"
"I was going to, but I had the impression my father had already spoken to you. I came to my senses, realized you wouldn't let this continue if you had any indication of what was going on. I hope this doesn't jeopardize your friendship with my father."
"Don't you worry about that, son, you did the right thing. I will be in touch, and you take care of yourself. How are things in Vermont? I know Natalie, that silly young woman, broke your heart. Have you been able to move on? Melody had always hoped you'd be the one for her, but I know that it's not meant to be."
"No, sir, it isn't and yes Natalie left a void in my heart, but I think it's going to be filled in due time." Fitz saw movement out of the corner of his eye as Olivia made her way to the kitchen, dressed and hair still wet. She looked breathtaking.
"You deserve only the best Fitzgerald. I will talk to you soon and thank you. I do apologize for all the trouble Melody has caused." Fitz walked back in meeting Liv in the kitchen.
"Hey beautiful, I am going to head back home. We have some Mellie trouble brewing on the horizon. Is your friend Huck nearby?"
"Hey gorgeous yourself I haven't heard from Huck. I tried to call him, but he didn't pick up, which is unusual. He may have stopped for a rest. You sure you going to be ok with Mellie? I can come over with you."
"I'll be fine, will you be ok getting to Sophie's?" He gave the hand gesture of driving.
"After what you put me through on a certain night, Mister, I think I am getting the hang of driving around here. I'll be fine. I'll text you later."
"I may be gone for a few hours, I'll let you know when I am back." He gave a whistle to Daisy who grunted, but reluctantly followed. Fitz gave a Liv a gentle kiss on the cheek and whispered in her ear, "thank you again for this morning, I'm working on my payback." He turned and walked quickly out the door.
Liv stood there waiting for her goosebumps to subside, shaking her head. As her phone buzzed, she was relieved to see Huck's number on the display.
"Where are you? You have me worried like crazy here."
"I just pulled off to rest a bit. I should be there in a few hours, are you OK?"
"Yes, I am fine, but you know we have a lot to discuss."
"Not on the phone Liv, over an open line, I will see you later."
Huck was outside the Rutland Sheriff's office. Dante's body was in the morgue in the basement and Huck was trying to figure a way to get the body out so he could dispose of it before the situation was made worse.
Carefully, to not be noticed, he scoped the building looking for alternate entrances, and different routes to take in and out, if he ever got in. After a little while, he realized this may be a job for two people and as much as he didn't want Liv involved, it may be unavoidable.
Fitz wasn't buying the tears rolling down Mellie's cheeks. He handed her the plane ticket for her to see that she was all set. It was a one-way first-class ticket to Raleigh. Her father would be waiting for her arrival at the airport just like he told her on the phone.
"So he knows I am pregnant? That wasn't for you tell him. That was low and I would think beneath you, there once was a time I could trust you, now I guess that's over."
"I guess it is Mellie. I told you no more games, and I am not going to have you in this town, lying to the people just to get your way. This would turn out ugly because I am not standing by you, not like this. The baby has a right to know who the father is, and I hope one day you come to realize that."
"I have been nothing but a friend to you Fitz, when your father wouldn't even visit, I was here for you, and now you go and do this." She waved the ticket in the air.
"Game's over Mellie, get your things, I'll be waiting in the car."
Fitz was waiting in the car for about ten minutes when his phone rang. It was no surprise to Fitz it was his father's number on the display and Fitz simply declined the call and turned off his phone. Nothing was stopping his trip to the airport and to see Mellie get on the plane for himself.
Ten minutes after that, Mellie came out with her bag and said nothing the whole drive to the airport. Fitz walked her in, watched her check in, and walked her right up to security. That's where Fitz would stay until her flight was gone. He couldn't go past security, but he would follow up with Wilbur that Mellie arrived.
Before Mellie went through security, Fitz turned her towards her. "Will you at least let me know how the pregnancy is going? Will you let me know when the baby is born?"
Mellie put her hand up, turned away from him, still with tears in her eyes, and walked through towards her gate.
"I'll have the car to you by Monday." Fitz said with a smirk as he watched her disappear into the crowd.
Fitz would stay there for three hours and wait for contact from Wilbur. While he waited, Fitz made some phone calls. Winter meetings for the Vermont baseball team were starting soon, and it was time he began acting like an owner. It was time for him to come out of his shell. It was the least he could do for Olivia and to maybe one day show Mike he was living his life.
It turns out Liv wasn't the only one in Rutland who liked Leo's muffins fresh and hot. That's how Abby phrased it, that's not what Olivia was thinking at all. By the time Olivia arrived at Sophie's there was a short line to pay for the muffins, and she was greeted by Lara and Chloe.
"Wivvie", Chloe ran to her and hugged her knees. Olivia would have picked her up, but she had two boxes of muffins in her hands.
"Hey, sleeping beauty, shouldn't you be sleeping, isn't it early?"
"Oh no, not as eawy as when I saw the sun wake up with you. Where is Fitz?"
Lara came over and while Olivia paid, she stepped to the side with Chloe and waited. Olivia called Abby over and told them all that Fitz was probably on his way to the airport to put Mellie on a plane back home.
Abby rolled her eyes "it's about time, hopefully the father of that little…." She stopped and realized Chloe was all ears. "Good, I am glad she is going home."
"Yay, Mewwie is gone, that makes me happy. Now the man Fitz punched will go away too."
All three women looked confused at each other and looked down at Chloe. Lara bent down to Chloe's eye level. "Honey what do you mean by that?" Chloe shrugged, and said "that powice officer Fitz punched will go away too. Oh no Mommy, wook!" Chloe pointed in the direction towards the door.
Judy Whitman, the town gossip, town prude, and town one time debutant rolled in one, walked through the door. She took one turn towards the women crossed her eyebrows curiously and looked at Olivia up and down. Olivia did the same to her, held out her hand and said "hello, I'm Olivia Pope, Ms..?"
Judy looked at Olivia's hand, ignored it and turned to Lara. "Who is this?"
Chloe put a palm to her face, "she just towd you moody Judy, that's Owivia, mom is wight, you are so gwumpy all the time."
Liv's eyebrows went up and she turned to Abby. "Olivia, meet the town gossiper, the I have to know everything going on woman, this is Judy Whitman. We thought she had moved back to New Hampshire with her son, I guess he couldn't take you either. Anyway, Olivia bought the Jennings old place and is dating Fitz. There you have it in a nutshell. Bye"
Abby grabbed Chloe's hand and walked away with Lara and Olivia following in bursts of laughter. "What in the world?" Olivia asked.
"That's a whole other lunch date Olivia, don't even try. Is your friend here yet?" Lara asked.
"He's on his way. Any news about the John Doe?" She looked down at Chloe who was looking in the cookie display, clearly distracted.
"Nothing yet. Bryce is at home now doing some reports and trying to radio neighboring towns. Rutland isn't exactly high tech in the law enforcement technology department. Sometimes it's better for him to work from home."
"Tell me about it, can you say 1920's." Abby chimed in. "Liv I am here all day, bring your friend by to say hi later. I have to get back to helping Leo."
Liv spent a few hours with walking the main strip going in and out of the mom-and-pop shops doing some shopping after saying goodbye to Lara and Chloe. She couldn't shake what Chloe had said about DJ, and she was wondering exactly what Chloe had seen. With her attention span, though, Chloe would have to be at a one-on-one sit down before Liv or anyone could get the information.
Fitz had texted her he was on his way home, and she texted him she would meet him there as Huck was not there yet. Something was up with Huck and Liv still couldn't shake the feeling he hadn't been that far away for a while now.
She sent him a quick text: Heading to Fitz's first, then heading home. If I'm not there, the door is open, make yourself at home, see you soon, hope all is OK.
Her phone buzzed back immediately. Everything is fine, I'll be there.
Fitz had his father on speaker phone as he was preparing some food dishes in the kitchen. Big Gerry was on a rampage and Fitz didn't want the phone by his ear. Fitz had called him after he had left six messages.
While his father was yelling, Fitz was preoccupied with scrambling some eggs and creating a batter for some chicken, he hadn't noticed Liv had entered. She stood perfectly still as she heard the caller downgrading Fitz. It was all she could do, as she stood there in shock, now feeling embarrassed for having just walked in. How could a parent talk to his own child like that?
"You could've let her stay, let the town think it was yours. Who would have known? You haven't proven yourself enough a failure yet after your epic deployment to Iraq? Come on boy, think of the mistake you made. Wilbur is upset, his heart isn't well to begin with, and you did this, sprung this on him?"
"Dad, I am not pretending to be the father of a child that is not mine. Listen to yourself. That is not who I am." Fitz toppled a cup of water over and banged the counter in anger. He needed to end this call.
"No, that's not who you are. I know who you are. You run to Rutland, you think you escape who you really are, but I know who you are, you're not the war hero everyone pretends you to be. You live with yourself everyday acting like what happened over there wasn't real, and you know damn well it was. You had a chance to help a friend, and you failed, yet again."
"Dad, I am not you, I will not prey on women for my own enjoyment. I have to go; I have things to do."
"Fitzgerald, don't you…"
He clicked the phone off and Liv tried to make her way back out, but it was too late. Fitz looked up and saw her standing there and she didn't know what to say or do. She did see tears in eyes, and she wasn't sure if they were sadness or anger.
He rubbed his hand through his hair and looked back at her.
"I'm sorry, I should have knocked, I just…I'm sorry Fitz, I was wrong to just walk in."
He didn't say a word. He walked towards her; shoulders slumped a bit. When he was close enough, he looked at her right in the eyes.
"No, I am sorry you had to hear that. Not the same conversation you had with your mom this morning huh. Yep, that's big Gerry, my dear old dad." Fitz put his head down and Liv pulled him into a hug.
"Those words weren't true, Fitz, he's angry, pay no mind to them. You are golden, a pure hearted person."
Fitz pulled away and looked at Liv. Olivia saw his eyes, as she saw them once before, grey and seductive. "I don't deserve you Livvie, I don't…."
And she didn't let him finish, Liv put her lips on his, passionate, pulling him down from his neck. Fitz took a deep breath, following the kiss. He went down to her neck and back up again to her lips, pushing her up against the wall next to the door breathing getting heavy.
Liv groaned, but was so turned on now, she couldn't think. Fitz's hand went up her shirt, grabbing her breast, and his lips went to her ear. "I believe I owe you something Livvie, can I pay you back?"
Liv couldn't talk, she could only shake her head as his lips once again devoured hers and his hand made it down the top of her leggings. As soon as his fingers made contact, she could feel how wet she was. This was something she hadn't felt in years, and it was pure heaven.
She found the breath to say, "Oh Fitz," as his fingers entered her, two of them while his thumb did circles on her clit, all while rubbing her breast under her shirt and smothering her with his tongue and kisses. All of his anger at his father was know turning into the passion he had for Olivia, and she was happy to take it all.
All the sensations were rippling through her body. His kisses, his tongue, his hands, all while pushed up against the wall. Her body was responding. All she could do was pull his hair as she heard him whisper, "I can't wait to be inside you Livvie, I. can't. wait."
Her head tilted upward, and Fitz had nowhere to go with his lips except to her neck as his motion down below went faster and Liv couldn't hold on anymore. Fitz felt her body arch and his hand came out from her shirt and gripped her around her waist as he felt and watched the climax hit her body. It was a beautiful sight to see.
She was rapidly breathing when she brought her head forward again as it landed on his chest her knees beginning to weaken. He could feel her heart beating out of her chest as he scooped her up cradle style and walked her to the couch. He sat her on his lap as her head landed in the crook of his neck.
Finally, her body calmed down enough for them to meet each other's eyes. "Hi" he said. "How was that?"
It was the same question she asked him this morning. "Hi", she whispered back. "That was phenomenal. Thank you, Fitz."
"No, Livvie, thank you." They both knew what those words meant, and she sat curled in his lap until Liv would find the strength to stand.
Back at Olivia's house, Huck finally made it. He had a plan but needed to talk to Liv to get it motion. He took a walk around the little house, smiling as he saw the painting of Liv dancing in the leaves.
He looked over at the fireplace and saw the picture of Liv smiling with the sunrise background. Huck couldn't help but smile to himself. He could see the happiness in that picture, and he knew Olivia was right where she should be. He took off his shoes and stretched out on the couch and thinking of his plan and the moment he would meet Fitz face to face.
