Chapter 15

-7:30 am-

Waking up to a warm body in his coils, Snake opened his eyes to see his dearest Lilith holding his tail in her hand, while her left leg was wrapped around his midsection. Looking at her, he noticed that her hair was disheveled, her lipstick was smudged, her eyes had some slight crusting in the corners, and the right side of her mouth had a dried streak of drool going down her chin. In other words, she was the most beautiful creature he'd ever seen.

Smiling, he softly kissed her cheek and whispered, "I love you."

"..Mmm..," she mumbled and nuzzled against his underbelly, causing him to emit a soft chuckle at her cuteness.

Adjusting his coils to where he was now (partially) spooning her from behind, Snake laid his head down and closed his eyes as he allowed sleep to claim him once more.

XXXXX

-8:43 am-

As a familiar pair of appendages firmly pressed against her backside, Lilith opened her eyes to see her serpentine boyfriend softly kissing her breasts as his tail gently began to wrap around her leg. "Hmm, good morning, Hubert."

"Morning, sweet peach," he smiled as she lovingly traced her index finger along his neck.

"I see someone's a bit frisky this morning," she smirked and gave him a knowing wink, prompting him to playfully chuckle.

"What can I say: you're irresisssstible," he hissed, flicking his forked tongue along her right nipple, which caused her to emit a wanton moan of desire:

"Mmm, Hubert.."

"Lilith," he breathed out her name as he gently inserted the tip of his tail inside her opening while kissing/licking her generous mounds.

As she was about to make a move and relieve some of the tension in his twin appendages, her cellphone suddenly started to ring, which she would normally ignore; however, because it was her Mother's ringtone, she had to answer it. Giving her serpentine boyfriend an apologetic look, he acknowledged her dilemma with a wink, to which he then gently removed the tip of his tail from her opening and dismissed his erection by sheathing his hemipenis and exiting the room so as to give her some privacy.

Slipping into the bathroom to wash up for breakfast, Snake couldn't help but smile at the sight of lipstick smudges all over his neck and down his underbelly. Sure, they'd rinse off in the shower, but at the moment, they were nice little reminders of the erotic night of passion he and Lilith shared only a few hours ago.

Turning on the shower and letting the water heat up to the desired temperature, he soon slipped into the tub and began his morning care routine. The smell of vanilla and shea filled the room as he gently scrubbed away the lipstick and meticulously cleaned off his long, scaly body. Once finished, he rinsed off until there were no more suds before turning off the water and grabbing a towel from the nearby rack before slipping out of the tub and drying himself off.

Afterwards, he slipped out of the bathroom and made his way into the kitchen, where he was instantly greeted by the sight of Diane and Wolf sitting at the table, drinking coffee as the cat happily munched on his kibbles nearby:

"Morning, Snake. Did you and Lilith sleep well?"

Giving his best friend a playful eye roll, he smirked and casually answered, "We did, actually. I'm assuming you two slept peacefully as well?"

"You should know the answer to that by now," Diane teased, while Wolf wagged his tail as he placed his hand/paw atop hers. "By the way, I have an extra robe in Wolf's room that she's welcome to use."

"Thanks. I'm sure she'll appreciate it." He then opened up the fridge and retrieved a package of bacon, a carton of eggs and a small tub of butter before noticing the rest of his friends stepping into the vicinity.

"Mornin', all you lovebirds…wait, where's Lilith," Shark asked, to which Snake gestured towards his bedroom:

"She's on the phone with her Mom, so I figured I'd fix breakfast and give her some privacy."

"Aww, look at you being all thoughtful and considerate," Webs teased as she scurried up the counter and retrieved herself a small coffee mug before filling it with some liquid wake-me-up.

At her remark, Snake just chuckled and placed the items he grabbed from the fridge onto the counter before retrieving a frying pan and setting to work fixing breakfast for everyone.

As he and his friends casually conversed with each other while waiting for breakfast to cook, they suddenly heard the distinct sound of footsteps as Lilith exited the bedroom, wearing her clothes from last night.

"Hey, sweet peach, I was just about to che…What's wrong," Snake suddenly asked, concerned as he and the others took in her appearance: her clothes looked as though she threw them on haphazardly, (like one would if they were in a rush), her eyes were red and puffy, and she had tears heavily streaming down her cheeks, while her entire body trembled.

"..I-I'm sorry *hic* I-I n-need..to go..," she hiccuped as she heavily cried, prompting Snake to approach and gently cup her cheek with his tail:

"Lilith, honey, please tell me what happened."

Emitting a sob, she tearfully answered, "..M-My baby..is gone.."

BABY?!

Everyone looked at her in shock before Diane stood up and offered her seat, while gently placing a hand/paw on her shoulder, "Maybe it's best if you sit down and paraphrase. You can tell us more at a later time when you're more comfortable, but at least tell us what's happened so we can help."

With a tearful nod, Lilith sat down at the table and took a deep breath before speaking, "..Back in 2018, I had a miscarriage nearly six months into my pregnancy...I-Instead of burying my son, I had him cremated because I couldn't s-stand the thought of placing him in the cold ground all alone..."

She thickly swallowed the lump in her throat and took a moment to try and steady her breathing before continuing, "..Following his death, I fell into a deep depression and was unable to move on from the loss. To help me recover, my grandparents offered to hold onto his cremains until I was in a better place mentally and emotionally." *sniff* "Now, my Mom just called and said that their house had caught fire and is now a smoldering pile of rubble. Thankfully, Nonno and Nonna weren't home when it happened, but..I-I feel like I've lost my son all over again," she tearfully stated as she buried her face in her hands and heavily sobbed as Snake reassuringly held her in his coils.

No words were spoken as there was little that could be said to make things better. Instead, he softly kissed her hair and rubbed her back, while she leaned into him and breathed in his clean scent, allowing her tears to freely fall, but gradually relaxing herself as she (obviously) needed to get it out of her system.

"..H-Hubert?"

"Hm?"

She met his gaze as she wiped away some tears (though it did little to help), "..I'm sorry I didn't tell you about my son sooner. I just..I couldn't.."

He gave her an understanding look and hugged her in his coils, "You have nothing to apologize for. I know you would have told me at some point, and it would have been at your own pace."

"..But still, I'm sorry you had to find out like this," she frowned before he gently cupped her cheek and kissed her forehead:

"No more apologies." The two of them then shared a tearful hug before the rest of the group joined in and offered their own support and condolences.
