Chapter 32
Liv stared at the glow of the television set. She had no idea what was being said, she didn't even know what channel it was on. She just saw a background picture of the Capitol building and some old timer spewing political jargon out of his mouth.
Her blanket was up to her shoulders, and she rested on the pillow. She was very comfortable, and she had no intention of moving. She began thinking back to the events over the past two nights, and she found herself laughing to herself.
She thought of Natalie. That privileged bitch who thought she would get away with what she did. Natalie, who thought her daddy would protect her from everything. Natalie, who Liv had scarred for life. Liv wasn't feeling so bad about it now. In fact, Liv felt as if she protected Fitz in some way.
Natalie hurt him in an emotional way, and the least Liv could do was pay her back hurting her in a physical way. She remembered the way she spoke of Fitz's scars and how disgusted she was when she saw Liv's scars, now all Natalie will see is her scar.
Liv sat up. "Shake it off baby, you did what you had to do." She heard Maya's voice in her head, had she spoken to Maya, that's what she would've said. That's right, she did what she had to do, and she would do it all over again, but what is being done to clean up the mess that was made in Rutland. Liv had to go face the crew and find out what was happening.
She was about to get up, and head over to Fitz's place. She didn't want to worry him anymore; he has been through enough. She should only be as brave and bold as Fitz was. She heard scratching at the door, and she walked towards it.
As she approached the door, she heard a little whimper, and she opened the door. Looking down she saw her best friend, her first friend she had made when she first stepped foot in Rutland. Looking up at Liv was Daisy. Just like that first night, Daisy was on her porch with pleading eyes to come in.
She looked in both directions, no Fitz. She listened for his whistle, but she was only greeted with silence. "Did you run over here again? How long before anyone knows you're missing?" Daisy looked up at her and just walked into the house, heading straight for her water bowl.
As Liv was about to close the door, it stopped. She turned back around and there was Fitz, standing there with the saddest eyes. He had his hand on the door, preventing her from closing it. "Hi". He said looking at her. "Daisy always did have a knack for finding you, she loves you, so this time, I followed her. I thought you left, for good."
Liv looked at him, controlling herself from wrapping herself in his arms. "Hi." She said, looking down. She turned and stepped up into the house and Fitz followed her in, closing the door behind him. He sent a quick text to Sophie "Found her, tell dad I'll be a while, tell the others to go, we'll meet back at my place at 10 tomorrow."
He joined Liv sitting on the couch and he leaned back, rubbing his face and then his hands through his hair. He looked at her and caressed her cheek. "I am so sorry you got mixed up in all of this, I didn't mean for any of this to happen."
Liv held his hand, keeping it on her cheek. She leaned into it. "Don't be sorry, I love you, and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. How is Two Shot, Monica? How are they?"
"Two Shot is still touch and go. He will need extensive physical therapy if he wants to walk again. He is in recovery still sedated. Monica is one tough cookie, she is holding her own, getting stronger. Sophie is with her at my place and is going to stay there while Abby runs the store. How are you? I really thought I…."Liv saw his eyes fill with tears. "I thought it was your blood."
"It was Natalie's, and I am fine. I just needed some time to process what happened." She turned his head, so he was looking at her. "Fitz, I am fine. It's Natalie who is suffering now, and I don't care."
"Natalie, well, she looked defeated. Nice work." He gave a chuckle.
If this was an hour ago, Liv probably would have lost it on him. She couldn't help but chuckle though with him. "She had it coming. Can we just forget about her for a bit?"
Liv leaned in and put her head on his shoulder. "So, Logan is dead."
He kissed the top of her head. "Not by my doing, at the last second, I chickened out. I couldn't do it, Liv. I thought of you, what you said, and I couldn't do it. I did get a good beating in, and I am not going to lie, feeling his bones crack felt so good. I wanted to lash him with the rope, but it was no use, he was a bloody mess."
"Then who..?"
"Huck, he did it. Told me to leave and he took care of everything. Didn't think twice about it. It's as if he had the whole thing planned for years."
Liv closed her eyes against his chest. Knowing Huck, he probably played every scenario on revenge from the day he left Fitz at that prison camp, a free man. She wrapped her arms around him now, just happy there was some closure to all of this. The years lost and the physical scars will always remain, but the mastermind behind it all was dead.
"And your father?" Liv looked up as she asked the question.
Fitz closed his eyes, not opening them. "What about my father?"
"What happens with your relationship from here? You know the truth; he wasn't directly involved with your captivity."
"But he knew, he let it go on, then he sent innocent soldiers in, and they lost their lives. This was all a political game from the start, and I just don't know how I feel yet. I have to give myself time."
"That's understandable Fitz, but I truly think your father was torn. What if it was you, the tables turned, and your father was captured, and you were being blackmailed for your power? What would you do?"
"I don't know how to answer that, not now anyway. I am just happy right now that I found you, safe and ok. I really thought you took off back to NY or even the cabin. I was ready to drive there before I let Daisy out."
"That cabin is too special to me Fitz, I could never go there without you. She sat up, put her leg over his lap and faced him eye to eye. "I love you more now, tonight, than ever before, I am just ready to move forward with you and put this all behind us."
He pulled her down to his lips, holding on to the back of her neck with his one hand, and putting his other hand up her back rubbing her smooth skin as she pressed down on him, causing him to react, as he heard her breathing heavily into in mouth.
"God, Livvie, I need you so much right now, so bad. He lifted her shirt over her head. No bra. He didn't hesitate and pulled her chest to his mouth, clutching her breast with his lips and smoothing her nipple with his tongue.
Liv closed her eyes, the stimulation going up through her whole body and she held the back of his head, pushing him harder into her body. She through her head back in the air as her lower body began grinding his erection. She looked at him, his eyes closed as he let up on her breast for a moment.
She saw the calmness enter his body as he realized she was in his arms, right where he wanted her to be, and she was going to make him feel good after the disaster of nights they both had. "You know", Liv stopped to say, "we never did make love in this house, in my bed." She pulled his shirt off and took his hand. "I think we both deserve a little relaxation, a little closure from the world right now."
The television glared, they were at the scene of the house, and the reporter was saying the Sheriff would give a statement at noon tomorrow. Liv clicked the television off. "10 tomorrow at your place." She glanced at the clock. "That gives us 12 hours."
Fitz didn't need anymore coaxing. He scooped her into to his arms, lip locked until she was naked under him on the bed. He joined her, grabbing a condom before falling into her arms. She felt so good, so warm, and he felt so free.
He buried his face in her neck, kissing, sucking, as she rubbed his back. Her whispering in his ear how much she wanted him and his comfort level was at an all time high. The weight of the world taken off his shoulders for now, and he grabbed her hip and pulled her towards him as he slipped right into her.
Her head turned to the side, her hand rubbing through his hair as he watched her body move in rhythm with his. She was breathing so heavy, eyes closed, as she turned her head back to meet his lips. She wanted to feel their warmth when her orgasm grabbed hold of her.
Olivia interlocked her hands around the back of his neck and pulled herself closer to him, grinding now with his body and she heard the most erotic of moans from this man she loved. She felt the sweat begin between her breasts and as she was grinding, Fitz moved his lips down and grabbed one of her breast as his tongue circled her hard nipple.
That was her undoing and although she tried to get his lips back onto hers, her body just lost it, and she came hard in his arms, as Fitz held onto her. He didn't stop, and when she fell back down to the bed, he only moved his body faster.
It was as if he had newfound freedom, enjoying every minute of what he was doing. Although it was eerily quiet except for a few moans and grunts, she wasn't expecting his deep voice in her ear as she was coming down from her pleasure.
"Fuck, Livvie, you feel so good. Ready for me?"
Liv didn't even have the strength to nod her head, as his voice sent a chill down her spine and she lost all control again, barely hanging on now as she felt his warm liquid fill the condom and he landed down in the crook of her neck. His hair was drenched with sweat.
He turned his head as she held him, barely able to breathe. She had her arm wrapped around his shoulders holding him close to her body. They both calmed each other down in the silence of the room, Daisy sleeping on the floor at the foot of the bed.
She kissed his forehead. "Feel ok?" She rubbed his sweat soaked hair away as she caressed him lovingly. Her guy, being through so many emotions in the past few nights. She was there for him, she needed him to know that.
"I don't even have the strength to move, but…" he looked down a bit embarrassed.
"Stay here." Fitz nodded his head as Liv left and came right back with a cloth and bag.
She got right back into position as he cuddled up next to her, lying naked just holding one another. Both bodies sweat soaked, but healing, and that's what mattered. She felt him calm and begin to breath evenly. He had fallen asleep in her arms, and Liv could do nothing but stare at him and hold him close.
Over at Fitz's place, Huck emerged from the guest room. Big Gerry looked at him and just shook his head in amazement. "You don't look like a person that tortured two people and killed one of them. You look like you just got back from a child's birthday party."
"Blame the government you ran for years. I was trained well. Who did I kill again?" Huck laughed.
"Do you think Fitz will ever forgive me?"
"I don't know. That's on Fitz. He suffered, Senator, he suffered bad. As much as we just joked, I don't know if I would've survived that torture that he endured. It was brutal for me to listen to it, and you saw how I can torture a person without care."
"What made my son so different soldier? Why did it matter to you? You had a mission to complete, what took you away from that mission?"
"I was told to be a translator for the American Army in Iraq. I know the language well. I was also told I was on a mission to look out for weapons of mass destruction or any talk of a terrorist attack. That mission changed about a year into Fitz's captivity."
"Logan and his guys wanted me to send more military over there. Said it would make the president look powerful, strong. They used the excuse the Iraqi's were making weapons, guess that wasn't true."
"Not true at all. Fitz and I, well I didn't know him as Fitz, I wasn't supposed to get close. Anyway, Fitz and I formed a bond. I could tell he didn't belong there, I guess I knew from the start something was off. They never broke him, though, never, and I gained strength from that."
"Well, he was lucky it was you that was there. I have to say when they told me he was freed, alive, I couldn't believe it. Then the anger from Logan, that was something. You really pissed him off."
Huck grabbed a soda from the fridge. He nodded in agreement. "Good, because he really pissed me off and I am glorified I helped him take his last breath. How are you doing?" Huck pointed to his chest asking Big Gerry about his wounds.
"Ahh, battle scars, nothing a few band aids won't heal. I am waiting for Bryce to call to tell me the Feds and CIA arrived. I'll take it from there."
"Where are Fitz and Liv?"
Big Gerry shrugged. "Not sure. Fitz sent a text to Sophie to send everyone home and we're meeting back here at 10. I am not going to get much sleep. Years of guilt and anger were released from me today and I just can't stop thinking about it."
"Any word on Two Shot?" Huck was concerned. Huck also laughed to himself. He knew exactly where Fitz and Olivia were, and no one was going to disturb them.
"Last I heard surgery was successful and he is sedated in recovery. We will know more tomorrow. His little lady is upstairs asleep, as is Sophie. This is some crew Fitz has behind him in this town."
"You should stick around; your son really made a life for himself here. You would be proud. Put aside your differences and be a presence in his life, that may make his forgiving you a bit easier."
They talked for a little while longer. Huck told him about the martial arts academy he would be opening and traveling from NY to Vermont. He also told him how he met Olivia and the shock of knowing Fitz was here with her when he came to visit.
"Crazy how we come full circle in life, isn't it? I suspect I'll be spending a few days in DC clearing things up then we'll see what I do from there. Looks like my son found someone who truly loves him, unlike that…" He swatted his hand in the air. If only he could've told Fitz the truth about her in the beginning.
"Olivia does love him, and he loves her, now we just made it easier for them to move forward. They deserve each other, they deserve the love they have for one another. I will make sure nothing breaks that bond. As you can see, I will kill again for them both, again, if need be."
Big Gerry clicked on the TV, and he sat quietly with Huck as they laughed at the sitcom on late night television.
After about a half hour, Fitz began to stir. His head pressed against Liv and Liv was gently rubbing his back. He opened his eyes, wrapped his arm around her waist and just held his head close to her.
"Welcome back sleepy head. I don't think I have ever seen you sleep so peacefully."
She felt him smile against her. "I hope to have more peaceful nights like this. That includes you being by my side."
"Did you get a chance to even speak to your father? What's the plan going forward?" Olivia was staring at the ceiling asking Fitz who was still comfortable on Liv's bare chest.
He rolled over to his back, then turned and they were facing one another. "My father is going to DC when the Feds and CIA get involved. He has two stab wounds on his chest."
"Oh my God, who stabbed him?"
"He stabbed himself as part of the plan. I left before it all went down, but like I said, Huck had every detail covered. My father self-inflicted wounds to go with the story that Logan attacked him."
"Natalie isn't going to talk?"
"The way Huck scared her; I don't think she is going to say a word. Besides" Fitz hesitated to take in his anger. "She is avoiding jail time by keeping her mouth shut and if she opens it, I will make sure she never sees the outside of a cell."
"I am sorry I went there; I know you didn't want me there. She caught us by surprise outside, me and Abby, Natalie caught us by surprise. Abby had her, but Natalie kicked Abby's knee, took her down good." Liv paused, remembering what happened.
"I still don't get how your shirt was off. What happened?"
"I tried to get to Abby, and Natalie pulled my shirt, ripping is off." She grinded her teeth. "She saw my scars and I felt like I was in the sixth grade all over again, I just went to another place in my head."
"Liv" Fitz just caressed her face.
Liv shrugged. "She laughed, said something about how we belong together because we were disfigured and said something about our children, and then I saw blood." Liv stopped, never letting her eyes leave Fitz's.
"Our children?" Fitz smiled.
"Yeah, and that pissed me off, because no one talks about our children." She smiled and leaned in to kiss him. "Anyway, I hope she has plenty of mirrors in her house."
"Come here, you." Fitz gobbled her up in his arms. "What do you have in this house to eat?"
"Absolutely nothing. Remember I was locked up in a cabin with a sex starved baseball owner."
"That's terrible. I hope it wasn't as bad as it sounds."
"It was wonderful. I may have a few canned goods, maybe some hot chocolate. I just hope they weren't here when Mrs. Jennings owned the place."
"Well let's look". Just as he carried her in, he carried her out, with Liv squealing this time.
"I love you Fitz." Liv felt her body finally calm, taking in his scent falling in the crook of his neck as they ventured out to the kitchen.
Bryce had a long night, and still longer one ahead of him. He looked through the two way mirror at the woman sitting at the table. Her hands were on her face, covering her eyes, and tissues were crumpled close to her. Bryce didn't think she had stopped crying since she got to the station.
Natalie sat covering her eyes. She couldn't look anywhere because the room was wall to wall mirrors. She still felt the pain of the blade that cut her, the ibuprofen doing nothing at all to ease it. Every time she closed her eyes, she just saw Fitz.
She saw him in so many ways. The emotions overtaking her mind now were hard to control. Fitz standing there, his hands soaked with her father's blood. He had no remorse at all, and she knew in that moment the torture Fitz must've endured for him to have so much hate and anger.
Natalie picked up a tissue, wiped away the tears that were streaming down her face, crumpled the tissue and covered her eyes again. She saw Fitz, before being deployed. The gleam in his eyes when he spoke of a life together with her when he got back. If only she told him the truth, if only she didn't listen to her father.
Natalie finally found the courage to stand up. She walked to the mirror and looked at herself. She was a mess. Her clothes filthy from falling in the dirt. There were blood stains on her shirt from her face. Her eyes were so puffy from crying that one would have thought she had taken a few punches, that's how swollen they were.
She finally got the nerve to look at her full face. It was hideous. The stitches were crooked, and she imagine the type of scar she would have. She walked slowly back to the table and closed her eyes again. Fitz was holding Olivia. When Natalie came to, Fitz was holding Olivia and there is nothing in that moment Natalie would have done for him to be holding her.
The door opened and Bryce walked in. He sat across from her. He looked at her, this woman Fitz had once spoken so highly about, and barely blinked at her. Bryce was never a cold human, but to her, he would be.
"Just wanted you to read this over Ms. Logan. Your signature is needed at the bottom, and to avoid any prison time, you stick to this agreement."
Natalie looked down at the paper. She could barely read anything with her eyes filled with tears. She knew what she agreed to, and she signed it without hesitation. As she pushed the form back to Bryce, she asked "how long have Olivia and Fitz been together?"
"Long enough to know they love each other and nothing, not even you would ever break the bond they have. The Feds will be arriving shortly, safe trip back to DC Ms. Logan and good luck."
She watched Bryce walk out. There was no turning back. She hurt a good man, scarred him for life, both physically and emotionally. Now, she was scarred for life, a punishment she will see everyday. Her father dead, and her future uncertain. She now knew what Fitz must've felt being enclosed in four walls with no way out.
She finally put her head down onto her arms, and sobbed, crying loudly, almost whimpering. She continued to rub her cheek with her fingers. "It should have been me you were comforting Fitz, it should have been me", she said in between sobs.
Fitz had started a fire. Olivia had brought out some blankets and together they held each other, the warmth of the fire overtaking the warmth of their bodies. Fitz was rubbing Liv's cheek in a motion that went from her cheekbone to her jaw.
Her skin was so smooth. He could touch it every minute. After finding nothing but peanut butter and a few crackers, they decided they would starve until morning and cozied up next to the fire.
"Can we see Two Shot in the morning? Maybe we can get Monica and bring her with us. This is going to be hard on her." Olivia was asking as she watched the fire burn the logs.
"Sure, we can do that. If she feels strong enough, I don't see a problem. He may even respond to her voice or her touch."
"Don't feel guilty about him Fitz, he wouldn't want that."
"I know, but he did something for me that landed him in the position he is in, I can't help but feel a bit responsible for it all. We'll get him the best care he could have. We're going to have to let Monica in on what this is all about."
Liv nodded her head. "I know." She looked at the clock. 230 in the morning, but she wasn't feeling the least bit tired. She began kissing Fitz's chest. She worked her way up to his neck and positioned her body to be lying right on top of him.
His eyes were closed holding her shoulders as she made her way towards his lips, stopping at his ear. "Mine."
"Yours" he said back.
She reached back and caressed his hardening dick. "You never disappoint Fitz."
He put two fingers inside her, "and neither do you Ms. Pope."
She moved his hand pinning it next to his head and sat up, taking him inside of her. "Liv, no condom." Fitz warned her.
"I want to feel you Fitz, just promise me you'll pull out." She began pushing her body in a rhythm going up and down as his hands rested on her back.
"Oh, damn Livvie, yeah, I will. Don't stop though, this feels so good, finally feeling you like this."
Liv bent her knees sitting up. Fitz looked at her body. He didn't even see the scars anymore and his hand rested on her stomach as her body continued the motion. "You are so fucking beautiful."
Liv closed her eyes, hand resting on his chest, enjoying the raw feeling of him inside her.
Fitz put both hands on her hips and began moving with her. Her hands closed on his chest and he felt her body stiffen. "Ahh, Fitz, this is so good." Her head tossed back, he felt her stomach jerk and just watching her, he had to calm himself down to pull out.
He quickly grabbed her ass and rolled her under him. During her orgasm, he continued the motion in and out of her, and pulled out as he felt his coming on. She put her hand on his dick, and felt the warmth on her belly.
"That felt so good, but no more chances like that Mister."
Fitz calmed his breathing. "I wouldn't mind having little babies with you, my love."
"Yeah, me either, just not now."
"Let me go get a washcloth."
As Fitz was getting the cloth, his phone began buzzing. Who would be calling at this time of night? She looked at the display. "Maya Pope."
Fitz looked at her confused. My mom, she mouthed. She clicked the phone. "Hey mom."
"Livvie, thank God, I have been trying your phone, your iPad, nothing, I was a bit worried. We are getting the news here in Paris, a top military advisor to the president killed himself last night?"
Fitz cleaned up Liv and motioned he was taking a shower. Liv nodded. "Yeah, Admiral Logan, the one responsible for Fitz's captivity."
"And this went down in Vermont, in the town you're in. Something tells me…." And she stopped.
"Just know it's being handled. His daughter was the one Fitz was dating when he got sent over."
"The news said he slashed her face. He slashed his own daughter?"
Silence.
"Livvie, did he slash his own daughter?"
"No, I did that."
"Well, good for you baby. Protecting your man like that, that's what I am talking about."
Liv rolled her eyes. "Mom, you don't even know what happened."
"Doesn't matter, I am sure you did what you had to do. What did that bitch do to you, what did she do to him? She was involved from the start, wasn't she?"
"Mom, it's just so complicated. But yeah, she said things about his scars, said things about my scars, and she was involved. It just happened; I don't know how to explain it."
"Well, it happened, and that's that. Where is Fitz? How is his friend?"
"Fitz is in the shower now; we are at my place. His friend for now is paralyzed and we'll know more on his condition in the morning. Keep watching the news, there will be a press conference noon our time."
"Well, I hope for only the best for his friend, and if he is in the shower, get your ass in there with him. Go on, make me some grandbabies."
If only you knew how close, we were to that tonight, she thought. "I promise to call you tomorrow mom. I was having a hard time with what I did, but then…"
"Then your man made you forget. MMMMM..girl, I know that's right. Love you Livvie, you call me during the day."
"Love you too mom." She hung up and she followed her mother's advice, but only to clean up in the shower, not to make babies.
They stood and let the water beat down. Fitz washed Olivia lathering her up with soap and it felt so good, cleansing. He guided her backwards into the stream of water and watched the soap fall off her body. Everything about her was gorgeous.
Liv put on a pair of sweats and put a dress shirt Fitz had left there on. She didn't button it, and Fitz had on just his boxers. They finally laid down by the fire and the events of the past two nights just caught up with them. Liv was sound asleep, and Fitz got up to put the fire out. By 330 they were both sound asleep.
There was comfort knowing the circle of loyalty they had in their lives would have their backs. They held each other the pain being taken away, the guilt being erased, and the anticipation of moving forward from here.
Big Gerry's cell phone rang at 4 am. The Feds had arrived, and they were briefing with Bryce and two other Sheriff's officers about the crime. Big Gerry wasted no time to get himself to the station.
Bryce gave his statement on how there were calls about a commotion at an abandoned house in town. When he arrived, there was a pool of blood and Senator Gerry Grant was lying with two slash wounds to his chest area, Natalie Logan was unconscious and bleeding from a face wound, and Admiral Logan had his wrists slashed conclusive with suicide.
He handed over the documents found on Logan's body. The Feds looked it over, thanked him for the documentation and would be taken to the crime scene once Gerry arrived.
While they were waiting, Bryce was going over what he would say at the press conference. This was a highly sensitive case with American secrets that needed to be covered up. The small-town Sheriff would hand everything over to the Feds and Central Intelligence and happily say goodbye to this whole mess.
Bryce was looking forward to getting a few hours of sleep before he met at Fitz's place, but the longer it took Gerry to get there, the less sleep he would be getting.
Gerry arrived around 4 am, greeting the officials he knew. Most of them welcomed the Senator, hand shaking and apologizing. He turned to Bryce. "If you don't mind Sheriff, I will take it from here, get some rest, and I'll see you in a few hours."
Bryce didn't need to hear those words twice. He had an officer drive him home, he was simply too tired. He just wanted to sleep in his warm bed next to the comfort of his wife. This had been a whirlwind of 72 hours.
While Olivia and Fitz were sleeping peacefully by the fire, everyone was taking care of things for them. Sparks had made himself comfortable in the hospital lobby, falling asleep on one of the reclining chairs. He had spoken to Letecia who was going to head down with the boys.
Two Shot was sedated but dreaming. He felt no pain as of now, and he was in a setting that calmed him. He was no longer frightened, and, in his dreams, he saw Monica. He was reaching out to her and she was a long distance away, but making his way towards him. "Take your time, baby, I will wait forever for you."
Sophie felt like a proud matriarch. Her daughter was fine, Fitz and Olivia were together, and Monica was coming along nicely. She smiled at how the small town came together to finally help Fitz. Fitz had never let them down and she was happy to see everyone return the favor. She fell asleep, finally, knowing everyone she loved was alright.
Huck said his goodbye to Gerry. He grabbed his toolbox and headed over to his martial arts place. He had some renovating to do, and he may as well start now. He couldn't sleep anyway, he did enough of that. He smiled as he drove past Liv's place and saw the lights on. He fist pumped in the air smiling.
Monica was feeling some of the soreness leave her body. She woke up briefly. She thought of how Sophie and Bryce tended to her, and she didn't know who to thank first. She still had no word on Two Shot but got the feeling in her gut he was safe.
She went to reach for his sweatshirt, the one he tossed to her before he was attacked and remembered she left it at Liv's place. Too tired to even think about going there now, she pulled the blanket up to cover herself and closed her eyes. She saw Two Shot in the distance, fading into her dream. She began walking towards him in anticipation of feeling his hand in hers.
No one seemed to think of the youngest worrier in all of this. Little Chloe was unable to sleep wondering what happened to her best friend Wivvie. She was feeling so upset because Chloe should have been watching Wivvie.
She heard the door click open and even though she knew it was late, she needed her daddy. She jumped out of her bed and ran to her father who had just walked in the door. She wrapped her arms around his waist.
"Daddy, daddy," she whispered. "How is Wivvie, did you find her?"
Bryce kneeled and picked up his young daughter. "Yes, sweet pea, we found her, Fitz is with her now. You should be asleep. Do you know what time it is?"
Chloe shrugged. "I know it's past my bedtime, like wheelie past my bedtime, but I was so so worried about my Wivvie."
"Well, Liv is fine. They will be here tomorrow, but you need to get some sleep, otherwise you'll sleep right through their visit."
She rested her head on her father's shoulders. "Okay Daddy, I'll sweep, but don't put me down until I am snoring. I am just so so happy Wivvie is awight and Fitz will pwotect her." She closed her eyes, and her daddy made everything better.
Before Bryce even made it to her room, she was asleep on his shoulder, and he placed her in her bed. There was nothing in this world he wouldn't do for this little girl, for his family. He finally headed to his room and by 5 am, all involved in the closure of Fitz's captivity were sleeping soundly in the town of Rutland, except for Huck, who had his trusted tool box next to him, ready to face any threat that may come to the people he loves the most.
