Chapter 36

When Randall Anderson was 15 years old, he was walking home in the small town of Rutland after spending the night at Melanie Porter's house. He didn't know it at the time he was walking home, but the police were being called by Melanie's parents.

Randall was walking in happiness having just had sex with the girl he had liked since the third grade. The sex was consensual, but as he was sneaking out her bedroom, unbeknownst to him, Melanie's mother saw it. Melanie turned on the tears immediately and said she was sexually assaulted by Randall.

What Melanie's parents didn't realize was Randall was protected by a bonding friendship with the Kelly's. The Kelly's owned all of Rutland beginning with mayor and working on down to the city council and Sheriff. Randall couldn't be touched.

Before Randall even knew he was accused, the allegations were swept under the rug and the Porter's were forced out of Rutland, threatened and tormented until they dropped the charges and had no choice but to find residence elsewhere.

Randall was taken to a dark room far back in the municipal building. Everything regarding the case was laid out in front of him and he was branded to never forget what the Kelly's did for him. He was forever indebted to them and one day he would have to return the favor.

His name could have been taken through the system, years of court battles, sex offender registry, and accusations galore. Instead, he was cleared of anything and was able to lead a good life. When Fitzgerald Grant came on to the scene and became the new name in Rutland, Randall thought for sure his gig would be up.

When Bryce turned down the mayor's spot, Randall stepped up. He would gladly take over as Mayor, he had no problem with it. Bryce, never knowing the history of Randall's past highly recommended him for the job and it was a done deal.

He had to repay the Kelly's now. Once he took the job of Mayor it was a Pandora's box that opened. DJ suddenly came back to Rutland, and he pulled Randall aside. He knew everything about the case that was supposedly buried. DJ threatened to release everything, to even go as far as to say he used attempted murder against young Melanie. Randall always knew this would come back to haunt him, but he never thought it would be in a way that would put lives in the path of death.

His phone rang late the night before Chloe's big birthday party. He thought he was dreaming and didn't answer right away. Then, when the ringing continued, he picked up. "Rand, time to repay that favor. I did a bad thing, but you're going to help me out of it."

Randall heard his voice after praying for three months he would never see or hear from him again; the voice was on the other end of the phone. "DJ, why are you calling me at such a godforsaken hour?"

"I am on the run Rand, I killed an orderly, I need your help. Let me get to Rutland. I can hide out in that abandoned place on Main Street until I figure this all out, get me into the abandoned building."

"It's not abandoned anymore. It's a martial arts studio. It's brand new just having a grand opening and Bryce's youngest is having her big birthday bash today, so you are shit out of luck. Find somewhere else, don't chance coming to Rutland. Besides there is still some straggling media around after Fitz….."

"Melanie Porter. I looked her up you know. She's living in New Haven. I think she's hard up for money, she'll do anything to open a story to the press. All she needs is some coaxing, and I have no problem doing that. So since the press is still lingering about that sad POW story, maybe I can get a leak to them."

DJ had followed the news at the rehab. It's part of what made him snap. As if Fitzgerald Grant needed another reason to be glorified by a society. This time, though, he had the national stage. The anger that raged through DJ's body was unexplainable.

He had already taken Rutland from him, becoming best friends with the man whose life he ruined. It wasn't supposed to work out like this. DJ didn't care anymore. Bryce and Fitz spent their time making sure DJ wouldn't amount to anything, now it time for payback. He had Anderson and he was going to use him.

Now he was sure Bryce's little runt knew about Mellie's baby, probably telling someone. He wasn't going to let Bryce's family ruin him again.

"DJ, there's nothing I can do for you, just leave it alone. You're wanted for murder, obviously, just stay away."

"Like hell. Grant, McClellan, this is all their doing and they are going to pay. I don't care if I go down in a hail of bullets, my last stand will be destroying them. Stay close to the phone Rand, I'll be needing your mayoral guidance and pull."

He heard the phone line go dead. Surely this was a nightmare, a dream. There was no way DJ would be that stupid and come back to Rutland. He would be committing suicide. Before he can rest his head back down to sleep, his phone buzzed again.

"Mayor Anderson, it's Bryce, we just received word DJ Kelly killed an orderly and escaped the rehab. He's long gone having at least an hour and a half head start on authorities. So far, no trace of him, but we need you to come on down to the station. This is going to take all night, possibly longer."

There was silence. Randall's worse nightmare was coming true. He took a deep breath. He was about to tell Bryce everything, then he heard his father's voice. "Don't screw this up son, you're beating serious allegations." Instead of confessing, he just said. "I'll be there in a few minutes. I can take the lead; you have a big day ahead for Chloe."

"Thanks Randall, but let's try to stop this before it escalates any further. You don't think DJ is dumb enough to come to Rutland, do you?"

The man is a fucking lunatic. He didn't say the words, but he sure wanted to. "I don't know what runs that man's head, I am not even going to try to guess either. I am on my way."

Mellie's phone was the next to ring. After the trucker left DJ at a 24-hour diner off the highway, he called Mellie. He hadn't spoken to her much after he reached out to her to find out she was having a girl. He would much rather have been the father to a boy, but still he needed one ally.

"Mellie." Her heart stopped momentarily. The chill went down her spine. Why was she so stupid? "I'm out of the rehab. I would really like to see you. "

"DJ", she said taking a hard swallow. I really can't travel too much. Dr. wants me on bed rest taking it easy."

"What would one small trip up to Rutland really do? You're telling me you can't come up to see me, not even for a weekend."

Mellie knew what she got herself into when she had sex with him. She shivered at the thought of it all now. It all backfired on her, thinking Fitz would want to be a part in helping her with the baby. "DJ, I'm with my father now, just let it go. After the baby is born….."

"Fuck off, Mellie. I am going to tell this whole town who the baby daddy is. If you ever try to step foot in this place again, you will be an outcast. They hate me and they will hate my offspring." He hung up the phone.

Mellie felt a knot in her stomach. She felt he was becoming unhinged. Should she even call Fitz and warn him? She thought of him, with Olivia, happy in their little world. "Let them figure it out themselves." Still, she worried what would happen if anyone knew this was indeed DJ's baby.

"I inswist, it's my day and I inswist." Chloe was in a mood. Lara couldn't figure out why, but she was testing her last nerve.

"Well, my dear, you cannot INSIST anything, you are not the adult, so go get the bag and stop arguing with me, you are not sitting in the front seat of the car, I don't care if it is your big day or not." Lara just shook her head. The youngest, definitely the hardest.!

"Stop being a little baby." Alyssa had to get words in to annoy her little sister.

"Shut up Awissa! This is my day. Don't come to the pawty." Chloe went to walk away, but Brianna had to chime in.

"Good, we can find something fun to do then. Stop whining about everything." Brianna stuck her tongue out at Chloe.

"Bwianna, just go away." Now Chloe felt bullied and was beginning to tear up.

"The two of you are not helping. Now stop it and leave her alone. Go upstairs and get ready. Really girls, not today." Lara was trying to keep calm.

She had found Chloe a little over an hour ago, a sweaty mess in the basement passed out from exhaustion with her boxing gloves on. They were the new gloves Fitz and Liv got for her and she was supposed to save them for the party, but she had them on. That annoyed Lara, but seeing her sleeping with them on, it melted her heart a bit.

When she carried her up to her room and tried to take them off, Chloe began swinging, waking up. Lara didn't know what to think. Once she saw Lara, she dived into her arms and just cried. "Chloe, sweetie, what is wrong?"

Chloe shook her head. "Nothing, I just want my pawty to be so so special."

"It will be." Lara didn't know what else to say, but she knew there was more to this. "Let's get you in the bath and get ready for the party. I am going to help get Alyssa and Brianna ready while you are in the tub.

Now, getting ready to leave with a carload of things, three girls, and a Moana piñata, Chloe decided to have a meltdown, just what Lara needed. Her phone buzzed. "Finally," she said to herself and answered. "You know Bryce I could use your help a bit here, you know we have a big day. What happened a horse on the lose at the Baylor farm?"

"Lara, stop, no it's serious. I can't talk about it right now. I will meet you at Huck's place. I am sorry, I got called in at 2 am, I wasn't going to wake you up. What's wrong?"

He listened as she told him about Chloe and what was happening. "Something is off with her Bryce, she's acting very strange, like she has an intuition something is going to happen."

Bryce closed his eyes. "Let me give Fitz a call. I'll have him and Liv swing over and get her. She would love to drive to the party with them. It will take a bit off your shoulders also. Give me a half hour."

Bryce picked up one of his burner phones, he called the private phone he had for Fitz. It was secure and Bryce felt comfortable talking on it. Liv was in the shower; Fitz having just left her in there. He heard the phone and went to the kitchen to talk.

"What's going on? This phone? Something must be wrong." Fitz heard Bryce's worried voice come through.

"First, could you swing by and get Chloe? She is giving Lara a hard time and I think going with you and Liv to the party may calm her a bit."

"Sure, but that's not why you're calling this phone, this is something major phone, so what's going on?"

"DJ"

Fitz's eyes closed. Liv warned him this would come into play soon enough. He had been so engrossed in the hearings, Logan, everything but DJ and here it is sneaking up on him. "Son of a bitch."

"Yeah, precisely. He killed an orderly at the rehab, took off, and there is no trace of him. You don't think he'd come to Rutland do you Fitz. The guy can't be that dumb."

"I think he'd come back to Rutland. He knows this town inside out, he could hide for days, and we wouldn't know it. Today is for Chloe though Bryce, you can't consume your time with this, not today."

"I know, Anderson is coming to take over. I'll be in touch with him throughout the day, but I have to be there for Chloe. I wanted to give you the heads up and ask if you could take Chloe, you sure you're ok with that."

"Yeah, fine, just get your ass to Huck's place. That little girl needs her daddy there for her special day. Don't make yourself crazy over DJ, we'll get him."

Liv came out from the shower, bathrobe on, rubbing her hair dry. "What's going on?"

Fitz gave her the news and she shivered a bit. "Chloe is off because she knows something. I swear Fitz, that girl has weird intuition. She knows something. Let me get ready so we can go get her, she doesn't deserve this on her party day."

"Wait." Fitz reached out to her and pulled her to him. "In case we are so busy later and I forget to tell you, you look gorgeous, and I love you."

"Oh really?" She squinted at him. "Well, I love you too, and you will be the most handsome of men among the princes at the party." A nice long kiss ensued and as Fitz was about to untie her bathrobe, Liv pulled back. "Nice try Mister, get the things Lara asked us to bring, I'll be down in a few minutes."

Before she began getting ready, Liv looked in the mirror. Chloe rarely gave Lara a hard time. She was looking so forward to this party, she wondered if Chloe inadvertently knew something. Then it dawned on Liv. Maybe DJ reached out to Mellie. Mellie could be in town.

She reached for her phone to call Huck. No, she thought, Huck had too much going on today also. He was hosting his first event at his new place. She couldn't bother him with this. It had to be something she would mention to Fitz.

On the car ride to get Chloe Liv looked at Fitz. "You think he contacted Mellie."

She could feel the car slow down a bit. Fitz pushed a few buttons on his display and a phone was ringing. After the third ring Liv cringed when she heard Mellie's voice.

"Well, if it isn't the hero POW himself. To what do I have the honor of this phone call?"

"Have you heard from your baby's daddy."

Mellie grew silent. Her lips pursed in anger. The little brat must've said something. That had to be the only way anyone put the pieces together.

"Mellie, we know DJ is the father, have you heard from him?"

"He called me from his rehab a few times. At least someone cares about me, you know Fitz this pregnancy hasn't been easy. My father isn't in the best of health. I welcomed his phone call, ok, and I am not ashamed to admit it."

Fitz looked over at Liv. Liv shrugged. It was up to him if he wanted to tell her or not. Leave it to Mellie though, she'll put her foot in her mouth soon enough.

"Anyway," Mellie continued before Fitz could get a word in, "DJ is going to be out of the rehab next week. I may be coming to Rutland. I am thinking of having the baby there. So, what is the reason for this phone call anyway. Why do you care if I hear from DJ anyway?"

Liv rolled her eyes when she spoke of having the baby in Rutland. "Mellie, you should change your plans. You know the kind of man DJ is, he isn't well liked here and if anyone finds our he's the father, the baby isn't going to be received too well here. You shouldn't want that for your child."

"He's always been kind and loving to me. I don't know what you want from him, why you care if I heard from him, but this phone call is over Fitz. If I get to Rutland, I'll call you from there. Goodbye."

Liv crossed her arms as they pulled into the driveway. "That went well, huh? Guess he hasn't been in touch with her."

They hadn't even climbed on the porch and Chloe jumped into Fitz's arms. She was wearing her martial arts pants and a Moana "I'm 4" shirt. Moana was holding up 4 fingers. Chloe looked all around and looked at Fitz. "Where's Daisy?"

"Daisy is home. We aren't bringing her to your party, she would eat all the food." Fitz joked. Chloe didn't take the joke too well. She jumped out of Fitz's arms.

"I wanted Daisy to be here. Daisy stays by me aww the time when it's a special day. Why didn't you bwing her?" Choe put her hands to her eyes, and she started to cry.

Liv knelt to her level. She pulled her close to her, resting Chloe's head on her shoulder. "Hey little one, what has you so upset, it can't be just because Daisy isn't here."

Chloe turned towards Liv's ear. "I had a bad dweam Wivvie. Mewwie and the cop, a bad bad dweam and this is my special day. I want it to be so so special."

"I promise you Chloe, it will be special, you have to trust the adults around you, we will take care of you. Don't worry about a dream because, it's just a dream. Fitz had bad dreams all the time about his boo boos, right Fitz."

Fitz picked Chloe up. He was eye level with his little buddy. "All the time, and dreams go away. If you think about it, it will ruin your special day. Remember I wouldn't come to your party last year?" Chloe shook her head remembering. "It was because I didn't like my dreams, see, they could make you do silly things. Now I am not going to ever miss another party again."

Chloe used both her hands to wipe her tears away. She jumped from Fitz's arms and took Liv's hand. "Come with me to get my things and then we can go. I want to beat Awissa and Bwianna to Huck's pwace. I want to be the first."

They opened the door to Huck's "ABC's of MMA Academy". Liv looked at the temporary sign. He must've just come up with that name. The ABC in honor of the McClellan girls. Liv had to think about that. She wasn't sure if she liked the name just yet.

"Wow". Chloe was looking all over. The place was decked out and it was all for her. Huck walked over and Chloe hugged his knees. "I wuv it so so much Huck, it's pwerfect."

There were pink and purple boxing gloves decorations hanging down in the workout room. In the practice room, there were all Moana streamers and pictures. Finally in the party room off to the side there was a big birthday banner that said, "Happy 4th birthday Chloe."

The aroma coming from the back where the small kitchen was located had Chloe's mouth watering. "Wivvie, cookie monster is making chocowate chip cookies. MMMM, they smell so so good."

Chloe ran into the fitness room and began punching the big bag. Huck joined her and began talking to her, showing her how to punch. She was nodding her head and following her directions. Liv watched as the two of them were making a connection.

She saw them go into kicking moves and Huck had to correct her. Chloe was about to jump up and kick down on Huck's leg. "No, Chloe, you don't want to do that, you want to kick up. Kicking down, you can break a bone."

Chloe showed him that she listened and after a few kicks he high fived her, and she slid with her legs wrapped around his and almost took him down again. Chloe was finally giggling, and Liv turned to Lara coming in with the girls.

She pulled her to the side and whispered what was going on with DJ. Lara nodded in agreement. She agreed with Olivia that Chloe felt something off. "Explains her mood this morning. Glad Huck calmed her down." They both walked to the back to get the final touches before the guests arrived.

Mayor Anderson walked into the station. His was a barrel of nerves. DJ had just called again for a third time. He warned Anderson he was swinging by his apartment, he had things to pick up. Since Anderson was on lead, he wouldn't send anyone there just yet. DJ said after he retrieved some of his things he would be gone from Rutland for good.

Bryce informed Anderson they just ran a check on DJ's place. Everything was clear but he was keeping an officer to watch it for the next 24 hours. Anderson had to do something to get that officer from the watch, even if it meant him going there to relieve him for a bit.

"Please, Sheriff, go to Chloe. She needs you there, everything will be fine here. If there are any developments, I will call you."

Bryce nodded. He looked over at his other two deputies. "Mayor Anderson will be holding it down for a bit. Anything changes, you know the drill."

They both gave a wave told him to enjoy the party and went back to their paperwork. Bryce looked around. He didn't want to go, but knew he had to. Something just seemed off and he couldn't kick the feeling. He gave a small smile to Anderson, shook his hand and left.

The party was in full swing by the time Bryce got there. Most of the town's families were there. The place was surprisingly big, and they seem to all be having a wonderful time. Lara met up with Bryce giving him a big hug before Chloe ran over. "I heard about DJ. Let it go, leave Anderson in charge, this day is for Chloe." Chloe tapped her father.

Her bright pink boxing gloves were on her hands, and Bryce put his hands up in defense mode. He pulled her up in the air. "There's my boxing princes prize fighter. Are you feeling better?"

She shook her head with a big smile. "Now that you're here Daddy, come see me kick."

Fitz and Liv were by the punching bag waiting for Chloe to come back. "This place is great; Huck did an outstanding job getting this together." Bryce looked around.

"Yeah, it's great, this is going to attract a lot of families. Chloe is very happy, finally, aren't you?" Fitz looked at her. "Everyone is having a good time too pumpkin, your party is a hit."

Huck was surrounded by kids showing them forms on kickboxing, Abby was at a cupcake decorating station up to her wrists in frosting, and Sophie was at a long table, she was taking registrations for the Academy which was set to open with classes on March 1.

"Where is Sparks?" Bryce didn't see him with the kids.

"They had to head back to Maine. Letecia's mother fell sick. Should be ok, but they all wanted to be there for her, they apologized for missing the party. I think the boys were happy though, they were a bit afraid Chloe may take them down for the count." Fitz rubbed Chloe's head. "Go easy on your dad, ok."

Chloe was about to show Bryce her kick. She almost kicked down on his leg, but remembered what Huck said and kicked up. She got him in the stomach, and he curled over. "Oh no, daddy, I am so so sorry."

Huck ran over. "You ok?"

Bryce held his stomach and heard Fitz laugh. "Oh that's funny?" and Bryce began to laugh also.

Chloe stood there smiling. "I didn't kick down Huck, just wike you said, I kicked up. See." She pointed to Bryce huddled over holding her stomach. Huck had to give a laugh.

"Your daughter is my best student." Huck heard a crash and one of the tables had fallen over that had party favors on it. He ran over to fix it.

Liv put her arms around Fitz. "I need a bit of quiet. I am going outside to facetime my mom before it gets too late in Paris. I'll be back in; she wants to wish Chloe a happy birthday."

Liv stepped out back. It was a small driveway. It fit one car, but no car was there. It was kept clear for the party for now. Liv didn't notice behind the small wall to her left, someone was peeking at her.

DJ had made his way to the main strip and when he saw Olivia, he knew he hit the jackpot. She was just what he needed to get revenge on Fitz. It really couldn't be this easy. He noticed her look at her phone and begin talking. He had to back down for a bit.

"Mom, I didn't wake you, did I?"

"Honey, I am old, but not yet old enough to be asleep at 8 in the evening. You pregnant yet?"

"Always right to the point huh? No, I just started the pill, I am not pregnant."

"Hmmm, that, you know I was on the pill when I got pregnant with you, so I'll be anticipating a grandbaby soon."

Liv was silent for a minute. "Really, you got pregnant…"

"You are so gullible Baby Girl, will you stop, no I wasn't on the pill, but I am hoping yours doesn't work. How are things there, things with Fitz and the whole hearing ok."

"Yeah, putting it all aside for today so Chloe can enjoy her party. Huck opened his academy for her it's a great place, he's going to do great with it."

"Is the little girl there. I want to put a face to all your raving about her. "

Liv opened the door to the loudness of the party going on. Fitz came over by her. She pointed the phone in his direction so he could talk to Maya. "Tell her I am going to get Chloe."

Fitz held the phone talking to Maya. The kids were all gathered around the piñata, and they were about ready to pull the strings for all the goodies to fall out. Bryce was holding it high in the air when the commotion began.

Liv walked in just in time. Lara had seen Monica pull up front, having brought Two Shot. "I'm going to give Monica hand with the wheelchair and Two Shot." Lara took off out front.

Abby was handing out cups for the kids to fill once the piñata was emptied. Liv looked at Fitz and put her finger up. He waved his hand, continuing to talk to Maya. Huck had to clear the one room and clean out the mess from the fallout of the collapsed table. Sophie was preparing the cake; everyone was doing something, and it was making Olivia dizzy.

Suddenly there was a screech and Chloe pushed Alyssa down, just as the piñata's contents crashed to the ground. All the kids were picking up their stash except for Chloe and Alyssa who were both in a pushing match.

Bryce dropped the empty piñata and grabbed Alyssa while Chloe ran away pushing open the door to the driveway and running out. Bryce looked around helplessly for Lara but couldn't find her. Liv ran after her signaling to Bryce, she would get her.

Liv grabbed Chloe as she was bout to run on to Main Street. She looked to see a car that wasn't there a few minutes ago when she was talking to Maya. Chloe tried to fidget away, but Liv picked her up. "Chloe, stop it, what has gotten into you?"

"Awissa wuins evewything. She puwed the stwing, and the piñata bwoke, it's my piñata, I was supposed to bweak it, I was Wivvie." She fell into Liv's arms crying. As Liv was trying to calm her down, they both did not notice the man approaching from behind.

If DJ thought he hit the jackpot before, the money just doubled. Bryce's daughter and Olivia, both men he loathed compromised without even needing to confront them. He put his hand on Liv's neck from behind.

She felt a cold blade on it. She heard the whisper in her ear, and she tried desperately to keep Chloe covered in her body.

"Walk to the car Olivia with the kid, and I won't slit her throat. Quietly, calmly, walk to the car."

Once Olivia felt the blade, she pulled at her necklace, feeling it break. It was the necklace Fitz had given her with the heart and she felt as it fell to the ground. It was a small clue, but it was at least a clue.

Chloe finally peeked out from Liv's shoulder and saw DJ. She squeezed Liv tighter. Liv whispered, "It's going to be fine Chloe, just keep your head down, ok, please do that for Livvie, keep your head down."

She felt Chloe nod as the got in the back with Chloe. Before she could even blink, the car was in motion, racing up Main Street. Liv saw a Sheriff's officer's car and thought everything would be fine. She had no idea it was Mayor Anderson at the wheel letting DJ take off. Mayor Anderson did not know he had two hostages now in the back.

It had been fifteen minutes before all the commotion had calmed down. Fitz was looking all around for Olivia and Chloe. He looked down at Maya on facetime.

"I am so sorry Maya, I seemed to have lost them in the sea of kids."

"No biggie, handsome, tell my girl I will talk to her during the week. Good luck with that interview. I can't wait for this to all be behind you two and she can start breastfeeding while you do the cooking." She winked at him before he hung up.

Lara had found a secure place for Two Shot and Monica. They wanted to make it to have the cake, to at least sing to Chloe and mission accomplished. Fitz greeted him with a hug and told him he would bring Olivia over once he found her.

While the mayor was driving away from outside of the MMA Academy, one of the deputies did what Bryce had asked and checked DJ's apartment again. It was clear someone had been there; the place being almost wiped out from when the officer was in there this morning.

He called Bryce immediately. "How the hell did that happen?" Bryce looked frantically at Fitz. He hung up the phone.

"DJ was at his apartment. Don't know how he slipped by. "Jesus Fitz, what now?"

"Bryce, we can't find Chloe and Olivia."

"Oh, Chloe took off out the back door, and Liv went after her. She's probably still calming her down out back."

Fitz practically jumped from his spot to the door and pushed it open. There was no sign of them. He looked down at the sparkle coming from the ground. It was his heart necklace he had given to Liv. It was broken as if deliberately left there. Fitz picked it up and ran to the end of the driveway. All he saw was passing cars.

He turned to Bryce who looked at Fitz's hand with the necklace. "He has Chloe and Olivia." Fitz rubbed his hand through his hair. "Fuck Bryce, how the fuck did this happen?"

"Ok, we need to clear the party out, send everyone home, Chloe got sick, something, just get the people out of here." He then pointed to the cameras Huck had placed at every end of the building. "Get Huck to start looking at the footage."

Fitz ran inside, gathered Lara, Abby, Huck and Sophie. They immediately began giving out the birthday thank you bags and sent everyone on their way.

Bryce was in overdrive now trying to get a hold of Anderson who wasn't picking up his fucking cell phone or answering his radio. "What the fuck?"

Anderson pulled into the driveway. He jumped out. "We received word DJ is in a car, a tan Camry, no plates. I don't know how…"

"He has Olivia and Chloe for God's sake Anderson what the fuck were you doing?"

"I was going to give the deputy a break at DJ's, I had no idea he was already in there. He got by your officer, not me."

With the place cleared out, they tried to figure out where in the town DJ would go that he would think no one would look. Lara was a mess, as were the two girls, Alyssa blaming herself because she made Chloe upset.

Sophie took the girls. She didn't want to go, but it was best for the girls, and she told the rest of them she would be taking them back to her place and to keep her posted with every detail. She would call if she thought of anywhere, he may go with them.

Fitz was beside himself. He was finding it hard to think straight. DJ was not stable, and he had Olivia, who would do anything to protect Chloe. He slammed the table. "WE HAVE TO FIND THEM!"

Huck began running a trace on Olivia's phone. When the dot flashed that it was inside the building he told Fitz. Fitz pulled her phone out of his pocket. "I was talking to her mom when she went to get Chloe, there's no way of tracing them."

"We'll get him Fitz, we will." Fitz looked at Huck. Huck had a darkness in his eyes, and he wasn't even going to try to argue. Huck was already at that place and DJ was a dead man already. Having all the faith and trust in Huck, Fitz just nodded. Huck went over to the computer to pull up the footage on the cameras.

DJ had his foot plastered on the gas and it was making Liv a nervous wreck. She kept hearing the other car from her accident slam into the side. "Will you slow the hell down DJ, you're going to get us all killed."

"Not a bad idea Olivia."

Chloe began to shake in Liv's arms. "Just stop it DJ, at least let us put our seat belts on."

"Just shut up." He continued to go excessively fast, and Liv just had to close her eyes to calm herself from her thoughts that were making her crazy. She had to be strong for Chloe. "It's going to be OK, Chloe. Daddy and Fitz they are already looking for us, ok."

"Let's hope so little girl, because that's who I want, I want your daddy and I want Olivia's boyfriend."

"He's her pwince not boyfwiend. Shut up DJ, you are a bad bad man. Fitz is going to beat you up so so bad."

The car came to a sudden stop almost tossing Olivia into the seat in front of her. She held Chloe tight, as DJ got out of the car. He pulled Liv up by her shoulder.

"You don't have to touch me, I will go where you say, keep your hands off me." Chloe's face was resting on Liv's shoulder not even looking at him. She didn't see him caress her cheek and she pulled away.

"Fitz gets to have all the fun doesn't he." He licked his lips and pulled them into the abandoned warehouse.

Liv looked around. There were cinderblocks piled all around. Some piles as tall as DJ and Olivia. He pushed Liv over into a corner and tried to pull Chloe out of her arms.

Chloe screeched a high scream. "Noooooo, Wivvieeeeee." Although Liv tried, DJ was too strong, and he pulled Chloe out of Liv's grip.

"She's just a kid DJ, don't do this, don't do anything you'll regret."

"Oh, we are long past that Olivia, there's no turning back now. This is about revenge on Fitz and Bryce, they took what belonged to me. I WAS SUPPOSED TO BE RUNNING THE TOWN!" His yell echoed in the empty warehouse.

He had Chloe facing Olivia, his arm around her waist and he pulled a cable wire from his pocket. He tied her hands together in front and placed her down. He pulled out another wire and did the same with Olivia. The wire was tight and if Liv moved, she'd get cable burn.

"Don't try to move it Chloe, you'll hurt your skin."

"Take a look around Liv. I know all you see is cinderblocks, piles of them. This was supposed to be the start of my success in Rutland. I was building a warehouse for distribution. This would have built Rutland's economy, but that was all put to a halt when your boyfriend arrived." DJ's phone buzzed.

"Talk to me, fuck no, no, no, you'll play it my way, or they both die, I DON'T GIVE A RAT'S ASS, YOU HEAR ME! YOU HAVE TWO HOURS."

Chloe ran towards Liv. DJ scooped her up. "Oh no you don't little runt. He tried to take out more wire to tie the little feet, but she was too fidgety. She jumped out of his arms and ran behind a pile of cinderblocks. "Run, go ahead, there is no way out." Even if she found the door, she couldn't reach the latch and it was heavier than three of her.

Liv just cold stared him. He dead eyed looked back at her. "The woman Fitz loves, at my disposal. This is going to be fun." He took a step towards her. He picked her up and wrapped her ankles, so she had no where to run. He placed her sitting on the cold, hard floor and Liv backed up to a wall.

"What is it you want from us, really? What do you think you can accomplish now after you've done all this?"

"Don't worry about my plan, ok, you worry about your boyfriend. He may have made it out of a war, out of a prison camp, but he isn't going to make it out of this warehouse if he shows up."

"He's done nothing but good for this town, much more than you would do." Liv felt an ache in her heart. Fitz was so good and he had these horrendous enemies. She just felt more love for him, wanted to protect him, even though she was the one in danger now.

Liv saw Chloe run behind another pile of cinderblocks closer to the two of them. Liv had to keep DJ's mind off Chloe. "You have no idea the people you have pissed off. You are a dead man, so if I were you…..

"YOU'RE NOT ME!" He went close to Liv, he picked her up, grabbing her forearm, so she was standing right in front of her now. He caressed her cheek again. "You are beautiful, but you're not me, although there's a small part of me wishing I was Fitz about now." His hand reached down to the bottom of her shirt.

"You know I am going to have a little girl. Mellie's baby, you know it's mine. We are having a little girl. She's not going to be a brat like that one running around. Maybe more offspring is what I need, go for a boy." Liv felt his hands lifting her shirt, pulling at it as it caught on her tied hands.

She began shaking her head. "No, no, DJ, don't, please, just don't." She wouldn't say it, but not in front of Chloe. Her body began to shiver in fear. But DJ was so lost in what he was doing, he didn't notice the little kick boxer approaching them.

In a swift motion, DJ lifted Olivia's shirt. Although her hands were tied, he ripped the sleeves enough to pull it off completely. She felt her skin hit the cold air, and she watched as the backed away, eyes opened wide, staring at her scars. "Holy shit, what the fuck happened to you."

Chloe, not even noticing anything but her target as Huck had taught her did exactly what she was told NOT to do. "GET AWAY FWOM MY WIVVIE!" She jumped and kicked down, right on to DJ's once broken leg. The only thing, now, it snapped again, and he screamed in pain.

Chloe, not yet mastered in gaining a landing, fell to the hard, concrete floor, and it knocked her out. Liv watched it all unfold in horror.

As DJ screamed, reaching for his once again broken leg, his body fell limp, unable to balance himself. His head hit the point of a piled cinderblock and Liv heard the bone in his head crack and watched the blood splatter into a pool just below where he would land.

Liv was no expert, but she was sure he was dead before he even hit the floor and with his landing, the pool of blood splattered with a small splash and his dead eyes were left staring at Olivia, the only one left conscious.
