Chapter 37

Huck had three computer screens going at once in front of him in his office at the MMA Academy. Bryce was on the phone with his deputies and with Anderson. There were 6 officers out patrolling areas of Rutland, looking for a tan Camry. So far, they had no luck with anything.

Then, finally, someone at the Sheriff's office messed up. Huck had a trace on all the phones in the building, including the cells. He trusted no one, not when it came to Olivia, he took every caution he could.

The outgoing call was to an unknown number, a burner phone, and Huck heard every word of the conversation in his headphones. He looked at Fitz who was studying the cameras, watching the moment when DJ approached Olivia from behind.

DJ: Talk to me.

Anderson: They are on to you; you need to give this up now. Put an end to it.

DJ: fuck, no, no, no.

Anderson: There is no way I can meet the demands, so the game is over. There is nothing more I can do from this end.

DJ: You'll play it my way, or they will both die.

Anderson: Did you hear me, there is…

DJ: (Yelling) I don't give a rat's ass, you hear me. You have two hours.

The line went dead. Huck was turning towards Fitz, but he already had the lead he needed. He was pointing to a screen; the camera was the one that covered Main Street. Huck nodded and zoomed in on the car. It was a Sheriff's car, and the Camry drove right past it at a speed that should have been pulled over for.

"Hey Bryce, look at this." Fitz called over to him and he looked at the screen.

"That son of a bitch." He went to dial a number and Huck pulled the phone down.

"No, Bryce, he can't know we are on to him, not yet." Huck told them both about the conversation he heard. "I am trying to get a location on the phone he called. Give me just a few more minutes."

Bryce and Fitz walked away, letting Huck do his thing. "Did you know anything about Anderson and DJ having a connection?" Fitz asked Bryce.

"I mean their families were close back in the day, but DJ never had any kind of friendship with him, I don't get why Anderson would turn like this."

Bryce's phone buzzed. He looked at Fitz. "It's Anderson."

"Hey, you're on speaker ok, I want Fitz to know what's going on also."

"I got a call from DJ. He won't tell me where he is, but he wants a million in cash and a plane fueled to take him to a destination the pilot will know when they take off."

"That's not happening Anderson. We need to know Chloe and Liv are safe first, and second, I don't make deals with criminals. It's not happening."

"You know", Anderson continued. "The system here needs to be upgraded. We could have gotten a trace on him had it been a bit more state of the art."

"Don't worry about that, you just keep checking in with us whenever there is a development. Hey Anderson, you go way back with the Kelly family. You don't know of any location DJ would get to without our knowledge?"

Anderson paused. He knew about DJ's want to start up a distribution center. It was right on the border of Randolph, below some long-deserted roads. He closed his eyes. He knew that's where he took Chloe and Liv, he was just too much of a coward to say anything.

"Not that I am aware of, that was a long time ago and I really didn't have any relations with DJ until he came back and was a Sheriff's officer."

Bryce hung up the phone. "He's hiding something." He looked out to the front room. Lara was sitting with Abby. She was holding Chloe's boxing gloves and Abby had her arm around her. "I have to go talk to her."

Fitz ran his hand through his hair. Livvie, he thought. First Natalie, now this. Why the hell would she want to have a life with him? He closed his eyes. They are going to need some major cleansing before they move forward.

Worst of all, they now have Chloe to think of. This is not going to be easy for a four-year-old to forget, especially one with Chloe's memory. "I just should have stayed secluded", he whispered.

"No, you shouldn't have. This isn't on you, Fitz. This is the work of psychopath." He opened his eyes and Abby was standing in front of him. "Don't put this on you."

"Abby, if Liv never…I should've…" He just didn't know what to say.

"Look Fitz, Liv loves you, and love doesn't go away. So, you two go see a counselor, talk it out. Chloe will have enough love and care around her also. We won't let this break us Fitz. We are family. We will get through this."

Abby was always the one talking Fitz down. She grabbed him into a hug. "We have all been through this with you Fitz, we won't let you down. You and Bryce, Lara, now Two Shot and Monica, we are all here for you."

"Fitz, come see this." Huck called out to him. He was pointing to a small blip on the screen. "I have a location. It's out there looks like in the middle of nowhere, near a town called Randolph. I can't pinpoint an exact address, so I'll take some things with me. You and Bryce up for a drive."

"Like hell." Lara walked in with Bryce. "I'm going with you too, it's my daughter out there with my friend."

"Go", Abby said. "I'll stay here with Two Shot and Monica, just call with updates."

They went out the door, Fitz in the car before anyone, determined to get Liv back and break more than just DJ's leg this time.

Liv just stared back at DJ. She looked at his cold dead eyes. "I hope you're burning in hell." Her hands and ankles still tied, she had to get to Chloe. She didn't want Chloe waking up and seeing the sight she is seeing. She also didn't want Chloe thinking she killed someone. The trauma alone could mess her up for life.

This wasn't going to be easy, but Liv had to get to Chloe, try to see if she was unconscious or just knocked out. She didn't seem to hit her head with the fall, it was more the impact of hitting the floor. Liv looked over, just next to DJ's body was the knife he had used to bait them into the car.

Liv did the only thing she could think of doing, she rolled to the knife, careful to stay away from the blood. She didn't want someone else's blood on her again, she could still feel Natalie's sometimes. She was able to grip the handle between her wrists and bend her knees.

The blade was now facing up with the grip of just her knees and Liv began rubbing the cable wire she was tied with back and forth on the knife. It seemed forever, but the cable finally broke, and she was able to untie her ankles. She grabbed the phone out of DJ's pocket and turned away.

She ran to Chloe and scooped her up. She walked quickly, far enough away from DJ's body and found a small wall in a corner to sit with Chloe leaning up against her chest. She untied her hands and just waited for her to come to.

As she looked down, she realized she forgot her shirt over by where DJ had taken it off, but she wasn't going to chance going back there and having Chloe waking up without her around. Liv rubbed her forehead, waiting for Chloe to come to.

Before she made any phone calls, she had to think for a moment. She knows Fitz is going to blame himself for this and she will not let him. He already has so much guilt with Natalie and what happened that night.

She also couldn't let a four-year-old think she killed someone. She really didn't kill him; she broke his leg. Liv gave a small smile, one may have thought she was losing her mind, but Chloe's form was spot on. She remembers Huck telling her to never kick down, but Chloe knew exactly what she was doing.

She rubbed Chloe's hair and gave her a kiss on top her head. Her party was ruined after all, Chloe's intuition proved right once again. Liv took a deep breath. All this was just too much. She would suggest to Lara that Chloe talk to someone and if it helped Liv would go with her.

She had to think what to tell Chloe about DJ. Should she tell her he's dead? It's just as well she thinks her father arrested him and put him in prison for life. She just didn't know what to do right now. She was still shaken up about all the events.

She would have enough explaining to do when Chloe did come to and see her "boo boos". No sooner with that thought still in Liv's head, Chloe began to stir a bit. Her head turned, her eyes opened, and she jumped out of the sleep she was in.

Liv grabbed hold of her and pulled her close. "Chloe, it's ok, you're safe. You're safe, DJ is gone."

She looked up at Liv. She put her arms around her tight holding her for a long hug. "Gone where?"

"Well, let me just use this phone he left for me, and I am going to call Fitz so he can come get us, ok, how are you feeling?"

"My side isn't feewing so good." She rubbed the hip bone where she landed. She looked at her hands and Liv's hands. "Did DJ untie us too?"

"Kind of. Let's stop talking about DJ for now, ok. You did great. Huck would be so proud of your kick, that is what scared him."

Chloe smiled as Liv turned to the phone. It was locked, needing a pass code and there was no button for an emergency call. She closed her eyes. What else could go wrong?

Chloe saw her face. "What is it Wivvie, is the battewy dead?"

Liv looked at her. Chloe's big brown eyes staring back at her, more inquisitive than sad. "I guess you can say that." Chloe looked down at Liv's chest.

"You have boo boos too, like Fitz." She gently rubbed Liv's scars. "They are so beauuuuuutiful though, just wike you Wivvie. How did you get them?"

Liv's eyes filled with tears. This child was truly an angel. Who would think these scars were beautiful, but to Chloe, they were a piece of Liv, and Chloe loved her, so just like Fitz, she loved her scars.

"Well, when I was young, a little older than Alyssa, I was in a car accident. There was so much glass, and the glass cut me. The doctors that took the glass out of me had to leave the scars though."

Chloe nodded. "Bwianna got cut in the back of the house on her foot. It was gwass that did that too. She has a big scar on her foot where it cut her. She needed stooches."

Liv chuckled, laughing away the tears. "Stitches."

"Yeah, that. Fitz wuvs you with the boo boos wight."

"Yes, Chloe, Fitz loves me with the boo boos and I love him with his boo boos."

"Yeah." She put her head on Liv's chest. "Do you think my daddy and Huck and Fitz wiw find us?"

Liv tightened her arms around Chloe. She rocked her to comfort her a bit. "Yes, Chloe, I think they will be here soon." She said a quick prayer that her words were true.

Huck instructed Bryce. "Call Anderson, tell him we have a location on DJ. If he's this deep into it he will call that phone and we can get a more precise location."

Anderson picked up on the first ring. "Bryce we have nothing yet."

"Yeah, well I do. I am in route to a location I think he is at. We picked up a signal with a computer at the Academy. I need you to send three patrol cars with six officers towards Randolph and do it now." Bryce hung up and waited.

Anderson sat staring at the phone. He radioed the instructions to head south on 107 towards Randolph. Squad car 31, 36, and 40. Radio location every ten minutes.

Copy that.

He wasn't going to do it. He wasn't calling DJ to let them know he was a target now; they were on to him. He had done enough damage. He folded his hands and brought them to his face. He had to come clean to Bryce. He wouldn't be able to live with himself if he didn't. He only hoped they would get there, and Olivia and Chloe were safe.

After ten minutes of driving, Huck told them there was no call. "Maybe Anderson got a change of heart."

Fitz's shoulders slumped. They were traveling South on 107 and the roads were just that, roads. Where would DJ take them? Fitz looked over to his left and coming up he saw a small antenna, it was something he learned from flying in the NAVY. He always learned to look for the top of buildings, you see things better from above looking down.

He squinted and pointed for Lara to look for a turnoff. "There's a building over there."

Bryce squinted too. "I don't see anything."

"It's there trust me."

Huck looked for anything he could find, drones, cameras, anything that may be in the surrounding area, but he couldn't. Then he saw it too, the antenna, but it must not be a working one, since nothing was coming up on the screen.

The road they were on now seemed to linger for hours as the building was coming more into sight. "Do you have idea what is out here?" Fitz turned to Bryce.

He shook his head, "I didn't even know it existed." His phone buzzed.

"It's a distribution warehouse, it's abandoned, but that's what DJ wanted to use it for. It may be filled with cinderblocks and building materials." Anderson was on the other end. "As soon as you said Randolph, it dawned on me. His father had always promised him a warehouse, DJ thought he could boost Rutland's economy with it. Just wait for backup before you run in there."

"Yeah, thanks Anderson, but that's not happening. I have all the backup I need with me, how far out are the patrol cars?"

"They just radioed in. They are on 107 now."

"Tell them there is a turn off 10 miles on the road. Tell them to look for an antenna on a building."

"Copy that, good luck Bryce."

"Chloe, do you have any questions about anything that happened? Are you scared? You know you can talk to me right?." Liv was trying to get some of Chloe's feelings out.

Chloe shrugged. "Did Dj wewwie get scared?" Chloe was trying to think back. "I saw him touch you Wivvie, I was angwy."

"He did get scared. He didn't even see you coming. When you hit his leg it hurt him, badly. He dropped the knife and his phone and ran out, hopping on one leg."

Chloe chuckled a little. "I know I shouldn't kick down on his weg, like Huck said, but I was twying to help you."

"Liv looked lovingly at the little girl. "You sure did help me, you brave warrior. Also, I bet Fitz and your dad are taking so long because they caught DJ trying to get away. They are probably arresting him. He is going to prison for a long long time."

Chloe's head nodded up and down with a smile. She grabbed Liv into a hug again. "I am gwad I helped you Wivvie. I can't wait to tell Awissa and Bwianna. I miss my mom." She put her head down and rested it on Liv's chest.

Liv closed her eyes. If they did find this place, she couldn't imagine how they would get in. That door was solid. She remembers hearing it slam and lock. She just took a deep breath. Huck would work his magic, Liv was sure of it.

"Look," Bryce pointed to a far wall of the building. "It's the Camry."

Before the car even stopped moving, Huck jumped out, holding his toolbox. He approached the steel door, opened his toolbox and got to work. He began unscrewing the door latch, knowing there was another one inside.

While Huck was doing that, Fitz and Bryce circled the building, Bryce with his weapon out, just in case. The building had windows, but they were up high, nothing to look into and see from the ground. Fitz was about to call out, but he didn't want DJ to know they were there just yet.

Lara was standing behind Huck, watching, waiting. She just wanted to grab her daughter and hold her. Her body was trembling now, she feared for both Olivia and Chloe. DJ was crazy, she knew it from growing up in Rutland. He should have been behind bars a long time ago.

She saw Huck pull the doorknob off and grab another tool from his box. It looked like a car jimmy, a long steel bar with a hook. Lara crossed her eyebrows. "I don't remember the toolbox being this stocked when the girls gave it to you."

Huck just smirked at her. "I kind of customized it. Trust me, this is the best gift anyone has given me."

Lara smiled having confidence Huck wouldn't let her down, they would be in there in a matter of minutes. The minutes though felt like hours and she watched him reach up the long bar.

Bryce and Fitz came back around to tell them there were no other ways into the building. Bryce's phone buzzed.

"The patrol cars completely missed that turn. They went another ten miles up the road. I don't know when the backup will get there Bryce."

"Thanks Anderson, I'll keep you posted." He turned to them. "It's just us, that backup won't get here for a bit."

Liv held her breath for a moment. She swore she was hearing movement outside. Chloe even lifted her head and held her breath too.

Liv smiled. "I think they found us Chloe."

Chloe frowned though. "That door Wivvie, it's vewy heavy and it's wocked."

"Yes, but remember sweet pea," Liv poked her belly. "You gave Huck a great toolbox for Christmas. He will use that on the door."

Chloe clapped her hands. "That's wight. That was my idea Wivvie, don't beweave Awissa and Bwianna that it was theirs."

Suddenly, they both heard sounds. "Livvie, Chloe, Chloe, Liv. Chloe." Four different voices saying two different names. There was no doubt, Liv thought, they walked into the sight of DJ's dead body. They must be frantic.

Chloe went to jump up towards the voices but Liv held her close. "Just wait, ok let's make sure DJ is gone." Chloe looked back at Liv and agreed.

"Can I just say hi to them?"

Liv smiled, yes, Chloe say hi, loud, ok."

"Hi DADDY, HI FITZ!" Chloe's voice echoed in the warehouse. Fitz was the first one there, picking Chloe up and giving her a quick kiss on the cheek before handing her off to a relieved Lara and Bryce.

Fitz helped Olivia stand up, looking at her to make sure she was in one piece and just gobbled her in his arms. His head was buried in her hair taking in, breathing in her smell, making sure she was breathing.

"Livvie," He gave a hard whisper. "Livvie, are you ok? What is that?"

She covered Fitz's mouth with her fingers and glanced over and Bryce and Lara. Chloe's head was turned away and Liv signaled she didn't know and covered her lips instructing them to stay quiet about DJ.

"Bryce did you catch DJ trying to escape? Is he in jail now?" Liv asked so Bryce would agree.

"Trying to Buttercup, the patrol cars are after him now. They will catch him"

"Tell them to be cwarful daddy, he dwives fast and cwazy." Chloe thought she would warn her father.

Fitz looked down at Liv. He tilted her chin to his. "He drove crazy, with you in the car? Are you ok, Liv, Geez, Liv."

She rested her forehead on her chest. "I am fine right now. I'll be fine, ok." She wrapped her arms around his waist waiting to be pulled closer.

Chloe looked over and saw Huck. She jumped from her parents arms and ran to Huck. "I did it Huck, I did it, I made DJ go away. I am sowwy I kicked down, but I made him go away, right Wivvie?"

Fitz didn't want to let Liv go from his grasp. She pulled her head back from his chest. "You sure did Chloe. Huck you would have been so proud. Chloe didn't get to see DJ fall, then get up, and run away. I hope the officers catch him, Bryce." Liv said with a nod.

Huck had Chloe in his arms. "I told your dad you were my best student. I am so proud of you. I am going to put my toolbox away, ok."

"I knew you bwought it with you. That toowbox is so so special to you wight."

"It sure is." Huck handed Chloe back to Lara and went to do what needed to be done.

Huck would take DJ far away, that's for sure. He would even use DJ's car to do it. He went to collect the body and signaled to Liv he would see them later.

Bryce called Anderson to let him know the backup cars could head back to Rutland. He didn't want them to see DJ dead if they would tell a story about an escape. They would figure something out, right now they were just happy both Olivia and Chloe were alright.

Fitz pulled Olivia far enough away so she could tell the story. He looked at her as she began.

"Chloe was able to fidget away before he tied her ankles and was hiding behind all these cinderblocks. He had me tied up at both the hand and ankles, and Chloe approached him from behind. Without hesitation, she jumped up, and down kicked his bad leg. I heard the bone snap. Chloe hit the floor and was knocked out. DJ grabbed his leg and toppled over, his head connecting to a cinderblock that…..well his head didn't win against it, and he was dead before he hit the ground." Liv shrugged and rubbed her arms, shivering at the memory.

Bryce had come over in time to hear the story. Liv looked over at him. "I was able to get untied and get Chloe over here so she saw nothing when she woke up. She thinks he took off. I didn't tell her he was dead, obviously. She's been though enough." Liv looked down and realized she had on no shirt.

She looked at Bryce, crossed her arms over her chest, and apologized. Fitz looked confusingly at her. "What happened to your shirt?" He pulled his off and put it around Olivia.

"Can we just leave? Please, Fitz, I just want to go home." Fitz rubbed her shoulders and nodded. He knew there was more, he needed to hear it. Liv buried her forehead to his chest again as he rubbed her back and began walking towards Chloe and Lara.

Lara pulled Olivia in for a hug. "Thank you so much for taking care of my baby, Liv. I just couldn't….I… " She stopped and buried her head into Chloe, crying releasing her fear and distributing her happiness.

"No, Lara, Chloe took care of me, right warrior."

Chloe hugged both her mother and Liv together. "We took care of each other."

Huck was long gone once they exited the warehouse. It was just the five of them and they headed back towards Rutland. Lara called Abby who was back at Liv's place with Monica and Two Shot. She would relay the message to Sophie and girls that all was well.

Olivia stood in the piping hot shower letting the water hit down on her body. She closed her eyes and heard his voice. "There's a small part of me wishing I was Fitz right about now." She felt his finger on her cheek and she turned her face into the stream of water.

She could still feel his breath on her face. She shivered as she played the words again in her mind. "Holy shit what the fuck happened to you." She turned now and put her arm up against the wall. She began to cry. Everything coming out in that shower.

Her fear, her strength, her vulnerability, her anger, it all poured out and she heard the door open. She tried, but she couldn't stop sobbing, it was just so overwhelming right now.

She heard the water turn off, no longer feeling it on her body. She felt the warm towel wrap around her and Fitz lifted her out of the shower. He rubbed the towel over her body to dry her off, as Liv was calming down with his touch.

He wasn't wearing a shirt and she let the towel fall and wrapped her arms around his waist, needing to feel his body up against hers. She buried her face in his chest and quietly let the tears flow. He interlocked her hand with his and together they walked to the bedroom.

With a pair of sweats and her hair pulled back now, she lay in Fitz's arms on their bed. They were still skin to skin on top as Fitz caressed her from cheek to hair. "You're safe now Livvie, I am so sorry I didn't protect you more." She could hear his teeth clenched.

"This isn't on you Fitz, stop blaming yourself." She rubbed around, feeling his chest.

He gently kissed the top of her head. "Want to tell me what really happened with your shirt?"

Liv closed her eyes against his chest. She took a hard swallow. "Chloe saved me in more ways than she'll ever understand. He was" …her voice turned into a whisper. "I think he was going to…." She shook her head; she couldn't say it."

"Liv, what, did he? What did he do?" he moved so he was now eye to eye with her. "Livvie, please."

He wiped the tears as they were coming down from her eyes. "He would have. He pulled my shirt off, ripping it, and he saw the scars and was, well, he was mortified. That's when Chloe come out of nowhere and kicked him." Liv shrugged. "He's dead now, so."

Fitz turned on his back, he rubbed his face with both hands, then they went through his hair. He wanted DJ's body. He wanted to tear apart what was left of it.

Liv grabbed his hands, and he faced her again. She looked into his eyes. "Worry about your boyfriend. He may have made it out of a war, but he isn't going to make it out of this warehouse." DJ's words echoed again in her mind, and all she could do was caress his face.

"You're so good to me Fitz, your love is what gets me through the days. Please don't blame yourself, and don't let the anger consume you."

Liv leaned in and kissed him gently on his lips. She pulled back and looked at him, his eyes watery as he bravely tried not to cry for her. "Fitz gets to have all the fun doesn't he?" That voice. She drowned it out and went in for a deeper kiss.

Fitz pulled her on top of him, lips still connected. That was it for tonight, just some kissing and hugging and a whole lot of holding. It was the therapy for tonight Liv would need. She looked from above him into his eyes. Both her hands grabbed his face and she pulled him in towards her awaiting mouth.

"You have no idea how much I love you Fitz." Her lips hungrily covered his as she felt his arms tighten on her back. It made the kiss deepen as they were lost in just comforting each other.

It wasn't long before Liv placed her head in the crook of his neck and fell sound asleep. His arms gripping her close and not going to loosen or let go anytime soon. He just needed to feel her close to his body and know this was it, no more danger for her.

In order to move forward, he knew they would have to talk to someone, get all these demons out. He would never leave her side; she's been through too much for him. They would get the guidance they needed, but right now, his head rested on hers.

His Livvie was safe in his arms, she was peacefully asleep and that's all that mattered. He joined her in the sound sleep, looking forward to beginning the rest of their lives tomorrow.

No one knows for sure how Huck got back to the MMA building, but no one was willing to ask either. Several hours after Huck made sure his cameras had captured his arrival, it was radioed into the Rutland Sheriff's office about what happened to DJ Kelly.

As Huck was resting comfortably in his small apartment, he too felt rare sleep overtake his body. He fell asleep with a smile as he saw the car rolling into the ravine. He remembers waving, telling DJ to have a safe trip under the water. Nothing would come become between Fitz and Olivia and Huck meant it.

Bryce was about to talk to Anderson trying to think of the best lie to tell him about DJ. Bryce took the radio call from the Middlebury County Sheriff's office. A tan Camry had been found in a small ravine sinking to the bottom of the wet floor. Preliminary reports show the driver suffered head trauma and a broken leg.

The ME was sure the accident was caused by the driver trying to drive with a broken leg. There were no skid marks indicating he had no control of the pedals and thus caused the car to drive into the ravine. The victim was identified as Devin Joseph Kelly, a sheriff's officer wanted for murder.

Bryce had another long night ahead of him, but in the end, for the protection of Liv and his daughter it would all be worth it in the long run. He looked at Anderson. "I'll deal with you when I come back from Middlebury." He picked up his phone to let Lara know what was going on.

Before Lara even kissed Chloe on her forehead her youngest daughter was sound asleep. She had just finished telling Lara how she was so so happy Huck taught her how to defend herself and she helped her Wivvie.

Chloe really had no idea what truly happened to DJ. Liv did a great job keeping her safe from the truth. She rubbed her daughter's soft cheeks. She took a deep breath feeling lucky to have her safe and honored to have a part of that big gently heart that beats inside her.

She told Lara about Liv's boo boos and how pretty they were. Before she closed her eyes, she mentioned again how she couldn't wait to be a flower girl in Liv and Fitz's wedding. It wasn't such an embarrassing thought anymore, remembering the first time Chloe mentioned it.

After the call from Bryce, there was no doubt Chloe would need some healing, but for now her daughter, all her daughters for that matter, were safe, sound, and asleep in their beds. She thanked all the powers for keeping her children safe as she headed to bed also.

She slept comfortably knowing a demon like Devin was dead, gone and never to haunt their family again. He took so much away from Bryce, tried to do more damage, and Lara was comforted knowing Devin was now in the confides of a burning hell. It was even more comforting Chloe had a part in it.

Monica had just settled down with Two Shot for the night. She told him the news of her pregnancy and she hadn't seen him smile like he did for two full months. No doubt the news would bring much needed happiness to their Rutland family after being through so much.

Two Shot couldn't wait to break the news to Liv and Fitz followed by the request of them being the baby's godparents. He held Monica close, feeling the happiness and fullness in his heart. As the darkness continued outside, Two Shot thought of the bright sunshine his announcement would bring to the closest person he had as family.

Bryce identified the body as that of Devin Joseph Kelly and it was bitter justice. The man who had killed his family so long ago, kidnapped his daughter, and tried to kill her was finally dead himself. The Sheriff of Middlebury did not see the smile on Bryce's face after he identified Devin.

He looked up to the heavens for his mother father and brother. He smiled and looked back at Devin. "Rest in Hell." He turned and walked away reminding himself to buy Huck a hefty gift card to the local hardware store.

Soon, the sun would be rising on a new day in Rutland. Life would continue to go on. The couple that would be the center of focus lying in the center of a king-sized bed. Fitz and Olivia, or as the McClellan girls would say "Olitz", sleeping peacefully. They were holding one another, feeling the love generating from their hearts in their dreams. They would face the new day, ready to move on and begin their much-awaited lifetime together.
