Chapter 40—New York
"Fitz, pwomise you won't dwop me, don't dwop me ok." Chloe was on Fitz's shoulders. He had her up to see high into the Tampa fair crowd. Liv's arm was wrapped around his waist, and they were taking in all the sights.
It was a rare, cool Tampa night and after three days of baseball meetings, baseball games, and never-ending pool swims, the three of them had some time to enjoy the Tampa fair. The neon lights from all the rides and vendors were blinking, people were talking, riders were screaming, and Chloe was having the time of her life.
"I will not drop you Chloe, I got you peanut." Liv looked up at Chloe, her hands wrapped under Fitz's chin. Fitz looked like a natural holding her on his shoulder.
They stopped at a skill game, one where you have to knock all the pins over with a baseball to win the biggest prize. Fitz led Chloe down from above and they each took a ball. Chloe pointed up to a gigantic white unicorn with a rainbow horn. "Oh Fitz, I would wuv to win that."
"That would need its own seat on the airplane." Liv laughed.
Fitz threw the ball, leaving one pin standing. Liv tossed hers, knocking only one pin over. Chloe, having the lower ground and closer to the bottom of the stack pulled her arm back with all her might. She was tight lipped and determined and let out a huge grunt as she picked up her front leg and threw the ball with all her might.
Watching baseball games the past three days must have paid off, because the pins took a topple, each one falling and rolling off the platform. The bells rang and the megaphone roared. "We have a winner." The look on Chloe's face was priceless. Her smile was ear to ear, and she clapped jumping up and down.
"Oh Wivvie, I did it I knocked them all down." Fitz scooped her up and held her as she pointed to the unicorn, bigger than her, and they walked away with one happy child.
After many rides, greasy food, cotton candy, and too much walking they headed back to the suite in the hotel. After a quick bath for Chloe and an even quicker shower for Liv, Chloe said good night to Fitz. She insisted her unicorn "sleep" with her, and she was out cold before her head even hit the pillow.
Liv looked at her young friend while Fitz was in the shower. The few days in the Tampa sun had her skin a bronze color, despite all the sunblock they had put on her. Lara had said of the three girls, Chloe was always less likely to get sunburned, and tan more than the other two.
Chloe was in a deep sleep, breathing heavily with her head up against her unicorn. Liv moved some hair from her face and longed for the day this would be her child. Seeing the way Fitz was with her tonight and the past few days just made her yearning for a child more than it was before.
Was she being old fashioned wanting to be married before conceiving? Liv wasn't sure. She was sure she wanted to be a mother as much as Maya wanted to be a grandmother. She felt she needed more time with Fitz, together as a couple. Besides, what would her body look like if she was pregnant. Her scars expanded. She shivered at the thought.
Fitz's hands wrapped around her waist and she felt him give her a warm kiss on her neck. "She's tired, huh?" He asked as he looked at Chloe.
Liv looked up at him, then back at Chloe. "She sure is. She's been great. I think we'll just relax here tomorrow. I'll get the hotel to send someone for a manicure and pedicure, she'll like that, and we'll stream movies."
"Sure, no compassion for the one who actually has work tomorrow. I see how it is." Fitz picked her up cradle style and led her to their bedroom. Finding it hard to resist him, as usual, Liv locked her lips with his as they walked to the room.
Liv was as tired as Chloe was, lately, she seemed tired more than usual. Fitz put her down and turned to get changed. Before Fitz even got in the bed, she had drifted off to sleep. The sleep didn't last long, as Fitz was in awe of her and her beauty.
He was staring at her. Watching her with Chloe, taking care of her, doing things with her, he longed for her to be a mother, but he wasn't quite sure she wanted it so soon. It was the 800lb gorilla in the room, and they kept avoiding the subject. Fitz had a feeling there was something she was not telling him about the thought of becoming pregnant.
His finger began on her right temple as she slept so peacefully facing him. The glow of the television on mute lighting the room and allowing him to see her features clearly. He took a deep breath through his nose. What a journey they've been on, and finally things were quieting down.
Now, his finger had made its way down to her lips and he outlined them gently, reaching over and planting the softest kiss on them. She didn't budge, and Fitz just squinted his eyes, the love for her burning through.
His finger continued, and he couldn't help it, he wanted her weak in his arms, and he was sorry he would wake her up for it, but he's been missing her, and he wanted her. To the top of her panties, he slid two fingers down, and she may have been sleeping, but she was so ready, and his fingers made their way to her fold.
Fitz was watching her face the whole time and now her eyebrows crossed, and her eyes opened. Her mouth went open, and she fidgeted a bit accepting his fingers. She took a deep breath. "Fitz." She whispered.
"Shh, just let me watch you." His two fingers worked their way inside her, and then spread her juices to the top of her clit and Fitz felt her waist wiggle.
Liv nodded her head and put her hands above her head, signaling she wasn't going to stop something that felt so damn good. Her mouth opened, and she tried to pull him down to connect lips, but he pulled back, and she closed her eyes, accepting his control. His fingers were now back inside her, and she took a few shallow breaths before closing her mouth and moaning softly when he entered her with his fingers again.
"Oh God, Fitz." She whispered. She squeezed his bicep. His fingers came back out and rubbed ever so gently on the top of her clit. Her body began to tense, and she felt him stop.
She opened her eyes and looked at him. His eyes were a dark grey staring deep into hers. "Don't stop." She pleaded.
"I won't baby, I don't intend to stop, I just want to watch you." He continued rubbing slowly, his fingers soaked now. He watched her bottom arch, and as he slipped back down and entered his two fingers again, she pulled his head down to her lips. This time he let them connect as he knew what was happening.
She couldn't stop her orgasm, moaning into his mouth and riding on his fingers. It was an amazing feeling, and she had to keep her lips on his or she would have screamed out loud. As she came down slowly from the feeling he pulled back and watched her heavy breathing slow down.
Her forehead rested on his lips as he gently kissed her. He put his chin on her head, he closed his eyes before he said the words, taking a deep breath, he said. "Take yourself off the pill Livvie."
Her head fell to the pillow, and she stared at him. She took a hard swallow. "You want to try.."
"I want to try…now, not later, I want you to be a mother. Seeing you with Chloe." He just shook his head, "you deserve to be a mother."
Liv just smiled. It was if he was reading her mind. She gave a slow blink. "Ok."
"Ok." He agreed and she positioned her head on his chest. They fell into a synchronized sleep, neither of them knowing, Olivia was already four weeks along in her pregnancy.
"I'm going to miss having just you and Fitz to myself, Wivvie." Chloe was hugging her unicorn as the plane was touching down in Vermont. Lara and Bryce were meeting them at the airport. They were going to have lunch, pick up Alyssa and Brianna, and they would be back on their way.
Lara and Bryce were heading to Cancun at an all-inclusive private resort, no disturbance for ten days. Fitz and Liv were taking the three girls on a five-day adventure in New York, then heading back to Rutland. Liv didn't know who was more excited, the parents or the children.
"Thinking of a fourth? Going for a boy?" Liv joked with Lara as the rest of the gang was getting the food.
"Funny because we were just talking about that. I don't know about a fourth, Liv, it's been a crazy ride lately. Bryce and I were saying imagine you, me, and Monica pregnant at the same time with babies just months apart."
Liv smiled, she shrugged. "Sounds like a plan to me."
Lara's mouth opened wide. "Oh, Liv, are you?"
"No, not yet, but we are talking about it, maybe sooner than later. Let the season begin and Fitz get accustomed to being an owner. We still have that interview coming out. We'll see."
"The girls will be crazy in love with your child. You'll never have to worry about a babysitter." Lara watched as they approached and stopped talking. Chloe jumped into her mother's lap and began telling her all about the trip to Tampa.
"So, are you girls ready for New York?" Fitz asked before taking a bite of his burger.
"I think the question should be, is New York ready for us?" Brianna giggled and Alyssa gave her a high five nodding.
"We're going to the Yankees game on Friday, the last night in New York, hope your father doesn't mind you girls wearing some Yankees gear?" Liv looked at Bryce. "It's part of opening day weekend. We were originally going to all three games, but we'll spare the girls the boredom."
"Nope, not at all, as long as they don't mind. Question is, will you get Fitz to wear Yankees gear?" Bryce looked over at his friend.
"Not a chance, but I'm also not crazy enough to wear another team in the bleachers. I'll stick to a NAVY tee, that shouldn't bother anyone." He winked at the girls.
Liv handed Lara a schedule of all they had planned to do for the next week. The girls would call every other night and they would see them next Sunday. After a long goodbye, they all headed in separate directions to begin their much-anticipated trips.
Three girls frozen on a NYC sidewalk, staring up at the huge building and buildings in front of them. Liv just looked at Fitz and laughed. All they had ever seen were pictures of such big buildings and they have lived with small houses, grassland, and mountains surrounding them. This was mesmerizing to them, and Liv and Fitz were letting them take it all in.
"You know", Liv broke the silence and the stares, "this is exactly how I was my first night in Rutland. I was speechless looking at the mountains and the sunset. I guess we are all lucky where we live."
The girls shook their heads in unison. "Well, let's head up." Fitz grabbed their bags and the girls wheeled theirs. Their eyes widened as they entered the door held by the greeting doorman and saw the elevator light the number 25.
"You live on the 25th floor?" Alyssa couldn't believe it.
"Yes, and I have a balcony that I have since plexi glassed in since you girls are arriving, and you can look out at all the city buildings lit up."
"Oh. My. Goodness." Brianna said each word slowly.
"We can't fall wight Wivvie?" Chloe asked with the most curious eyes.
"No, you can't fall. You'll be very safe."
"Alwight then, let's wook all night." Chloe took Fitz's hand as they exited the elevator.
"During this trip we are going even higher up. We are going to visit my old office and that's on the 75th floor of the building."
"75 floors, that's 50 more than we are now." Alyssa was showing off her math skills.
"Sure is."
"I can't believe you left this for Rutland Liv, don't you miss it?" Brianna asked.
"No, honey, not at all. It can get very lonely in a city so big."
"But there's pweeple all awound Wivvie, why were you wonewy?"
"Because she didn't have Fitz silly, that's why." Alyssa put her arm around Chloe. "Look, over there Chloe, you see the blinking lights on the building."
Alyssa had never been more right with her words.
Three air mattresses were all awaiting the girls on the floor in the spacious living room. By the twinkling of all the building lights, the girls would fall asleep, dreaming of their adventure in the morning.
Olivia was taking them to the American Girl Doll store. Liv had booked an extra special activity for them. They were going to have a doll hair and manicure day mixed with an English Tea Party. Liv was lucky enough to know some representatives from the store and they took care of the reservations.
Liv's company had, over the years, ordered dolls for parties and holidays to be given to parentless children and children from low-income families. She explained to the girls this trip was not something every child could do.
While Fitz wanted to be a part of something so entertaining to the girls, he did have a lunch planned with some executives from the Yankees and Mets organizations. They were going over some promotional days and Fitz wanted to meet the owners personally.
If Liv thought having Chloe was work, having the three of them was triple the work and she understood Lara's hesitation to have a fourth. They were very well behaved, it was just watching them and keeping them safe that took its toll.
On the way out of the store, there were some tags on display. They were letters from the children's home from the Boys and Girls Club of NYC. Alyssa pulled one tag down, it was from a 7-year-old girl asking for a doll, even if it was used.
She called Chloe and Brianna over and talked to them while Liv was talking to one of her former clients. The girls nodded in agreement and before Liv even knew what was happening, a doll was being purchased and getting ready to be gift wrapped.
Liv walked over to the register. "What on earth? Girls, you already have two dolls each, don't you think that was enough, which one of you is that for?"
"None of them," the sales person said. "They purchased it for the Children's Home. It's a donation. They paid with cash, is that alright with you mom?"
"Oh I'm not their….."
"We used the money grandma and grandpa gave us." Alyssa broke in.
"It's ok, because we still have a lot of money left." Brianna said
"It's exacwy what Fitz would do, wight Wivvie, he would give to others." Chloe's brown eyes stared widened at her.
Liv nodded proudly, "Yes, it is Chloe, you are right."
The next day Fitz joined them on their adventure. Five front row center tickets to the Lion King performance on Broadway. Fitz told Liv he hadn't heard the girls so silent for so long in the years he knew them.
Liv looked over at one point, and their eyes were glued to the stage. The only movement came at the end, when during the curtain call, Chloe stood up and bowed with the rest of the performers. They smiled in her direction and waved to the girls.
Chloe jumped into Fitz's arms. "Oh, that was so so gweat Fitz, they waved to me."
"Us too" Alyssa and Brianna said in unison.
The visit to Liv's work brought back such bittersweet memories the next day. She held her breath as she entered the office, the girls still stunned they rode and elevator 75 floors up. Huck greeted them at the elevator and Chloe jumped into his arms.
"Oh, Huck, I missed you so so much. Will you show me awound?"
"Yep, you and your sisters. I'm going to take you to dinner too, if Fitz and Liv don't mind."
Liv was a caught off guard. "Really, you don't have to."
"Oh, I want to. We're going to eat at Dinosaur Bar BBQ and then head up to FAO Schwarz. How else can I use the profits these girls helped me make?"
After speaking with Quinn, Liv learned how well everything was going. Mr. Harris was gone on conference to France, and Quinn had everything under control. Because of the relationships built between Olivia and the clients, the transition of CEO was fine.
No clients left and they had been able to secure six new ones since Olivia left. This made Olivia feel good, accomplished, and it certified she had made the best decision to leave and begin her real life.
Back at her place with Fitz, he was making them a small dinner. It was finally quiet, something they had missed for a few weeks, and Liv sat on the couch enjoying the silence.
Watching her from the kitchen, Fitz saw she was deep in thought. He turned the oven on low, put the coconut shrimp in to cook, and headed towards her on the couch.
As he sat, she rested her head on his chest. "You look serious, Livvie, you good?"
"I'm good." She rubbed his chest. "Just thinking about what you said, my doctor said it was fine to stop taking the pill, so once we get back to Rutland."
"How about now? Or is there something holding you back? Am I rushing you?"
Liv just shrugged. "No, not rushing, this was my dream, the reason I left all of this, and I met you. I just don't…Fitz…" She didn't know how to get the words out because she felt they would sound dumb now. He never saw her for her scars.
"Could you imagine my stomach, my body, pregnant? What would the scars look like all stretched out? I don't know. Is that being selfish?"
"Liv, you would look as beautiful as you are now, if not more. Of course that's not selfish at all. I know you've always had a reason to dislike your body, but I've made it clear, you are not your scars. I hope that isn't why you're hesitant." He put his head down and looked up at her with his eyes.
"It's a factor. I'll admit, I'm just scared."
"And that's normal, but we'll be in this together, right?"
"Right."
He pushed her back on the couch connecting her lips with his and pushing her legs open to position himself. He pulled her shorts down, rubbing her ass. "I've missed you so much baby, missed being inside you." He continued the kiss, and Liv pulled his shirt off.
He continued his kissing, lifted her shirt, and exposed her breasts, nipples hard, so inviting, and he welcomed one into his mouth. He heard her moan, as he quickly took off his pants, and continued. Thinking she would feel him, Liv braced herself, because she missed the feeling also.
His tongue though went up her fold, and Liv almost lost it at once. "Fitz". It was moan of surprise as it came out. "Oh God." His tongue worked its way around her fold and Liv was finding it hard to keep still.
He enclosed her breast in his hand, to hold her steady, she tasted so good, and he could tell it wouldn't be long. Her head arched back on the couch, her hand gripped his head, and her eyes closed tight. "MMM, Fitz, God, Oh….Ahh." and her body went limp.
Fitz put his head up and before she could come down from that feeling, he filled her with the rock-hard erection that was screaming to be in her. "Ahh, Livvie, you feel so damn good."
He gently pumped himself in and out of her, watching her try to regain strength that would never come. She knew he was her weakness in more ways than one, and Liv just let her body become his. She opened her eyes to meet his gaze, and he smiled.
"Tell me. Livvie," as he pumped her, kissed between her breasts, and looked at her again. "Tell me you want to be a mother." He pumped harder, faster, "Tell me baby. Come on."
Liv's mouth was open now, but she couldn't get enough breath to say the words. "Fitz. MMmm". She kissed his neck. "I. want." A loud moan as he took a breast in his mouth.
"Come on, Livvie, say it."
"Oh, Fitz, yes." His dick slipped out, and he quickly positioned it back in, now using her hips to stay in her. Rigorously pumping now, her stomach pumped up. He head went down, kissed that scar of hers, and feeling his lips, she lost it.
"Make me a mother, Fitz, please, let's make a baby. Ahhh" Her body rose in orgasm, and Fitz watched her body become an ever glorious shake, as he emptied himself with three hard grunts and fell to her chest, breathing as heavy as she was.
"You are my world Livvie, always remember that."
She nodded, rubbing her hands through his curls. "And you are mine Fitz. That office today, just reminded me the decision I made was the best one ever."
"Even after everything I put you through?" He rested his chin between her breasts looking at her.
"I would do it all over again for you, my love." She pulled him up into a kiss. "I wouldn't change us for the world." She rubbed his back, slowly going over his scars. "I would only change your torture."
"Shower with me?"
Liv nodded. "Then get that dinner ready because it smells delicious."
After a day barbeque at Liberty State Park, a trip through the Liberty Science Center, the girls were geared up and ready to go their first Yankees game in the Bronx.
"Now, girls, they are playing the Red Sox. That's their rival team. You know what that means?"
"Like Becky Sloan, she's my rival in school, we are always trying to out do one another." Alyssa said.
"Oh, that bwecky, she's a menace." Chloe agreed.
Liv laughed. "Yes, like that, and we are sitting in the bleachers, so their may be some bad language going on, ignore that, ok."
"Oh this is going to be fun." Brianna nudged Alyssa.
"And Chloe," Liv looked down at her. "Don't be upset if they pick a person and call them names, it's what the bleacher creatures do."
"Bweacher Cweatures?"
"Yes, that's what they call them. It's been their nickname for years. See". Liv held up an old t-shirt. It read Bleacher Creatures RF. "This is from the old stadium."
"Were you a Bleacher Creature Liv?" Alyssa asked.
"You could say that." Liv was a bit embarrassed.
"She probably started it all. I'm beginning to believe it. Let's go, we'll be late." Fitz said
Chloe held on tight to Liv's hand. The other two, close to Fitz. The stadium was at sold out capacity. They grabbed some snacks, found their seats, and just enjoyed the sights.
Fitz took the two girls over to Monument Park while Chloe stayed behind with Liv. There was a man, getting loud, talking to his friends two seats behind. Chloe looked back and the man waved at her.
She waved back. "Are you a bweacher cweature?" She yelled it, and Liv contained her laughter. He saw Olivia and recognized her; he was one of the originals from the old stadium.
"Hey Liv, this your daughter?"
"No, a friend's daughter, first game, bleacher experience with the Red Sox."
Chloe went up by him. "I'm Cwoe, I am fwom Wutland Vermont."
"Pleased to meet you Chloe from Vermont, would you like to start roll call with me?"
"What's row caw?"
"Well we say the player's names until they turn and wave to us, it's a bleacher tradition." Liv smiled as Fitz and the girls came back.
"She alright?" Fitz looked at Chloe talking to her new friend.
"Just fine, Raymond is taking good care of her."
Chloe agreed to roll call, but Raymond had to agree to something for her. He bent down as she whispered something in his ears, and he nodded in assurance. "You got it, Chloe from Vermont."
By the fourth inning, Chloe was clapping the chants with the loyal bleacher fans, and Liv covered her eyes as the crowd was chanting "Boston Sucks" and it seemed Chloe was leading them in doing so.
Fitz looked at Liv shaking his head. "What?" She asked. "She's getting an education."
By the fifth inning they found the one fan who of course was wearing the dreaded Boston jersey and began calling him a choice name. Liv looked back at Chloe who had her hands over her ears and mouth closed tight, shaking her head that she wouldn't say "Asshole" with the rest of the crew.
"Weady Waymond?"
He turned to his crew. "Chloe from Vermont wants to know if we're ready?"
They all gave the thumbs up.
Liv heard movement behind her as the girls stood behind her and Fitz. She looked back. "Just stretching our legs, Liv." Alyssa said.
Liv looked at Fitz, who shrugged.
In between innings now, the crowd behind Liv got loud, and they were chanting something. It took a moment for her to realize what the chant was, and she turned to see who they were referring too.
"Say yes, say yes, say yes, say yes."
Liv saw the girls holding signs. Alyssa's read WILL YOU and an arrow pointing down to Liv. Brianna's read MARRY and had a drawn picture of an engagement ring Chloe's read "HIM?" with an arrow pointing down to Fitz. Now the whole section read the signs and joined the chant.
"Come on Wivvie, say yes." Chloe joined in.
Liv covered her eyes as Fitz kneeled on one knee on the bleacher bench. "Liv?" He held the 5-carat ring at the tip of her finger.
"YES" she screamed. Fitz slipped the ring on, waved to everyone, and picked her up in a kiss, all before the inning started up again and the roar of the crowd settled down. They hadn't known yet, but the news networks had picked it up as ESPN was broadcasting the game.
"Yes!" All three girls were the same in saying it and Chloe hugged Fitz's legs.
"I knew you were her pwince."
The two girls hugged Liv, and for the rest of the game, Liv had no idea what was going on. She never in her life thought she could ever be distracted from a Red Sox/Yankees game, but looking at her ring, and resting her head on Fitz's shoulder, she was just lost in the moment.
Liv's phone began buzzing, as did Fitz's, as their friends and family had begun seeing the moment playing out on television.
Liv shook her head looking at Fitz. "You have to make everything newsworthy, don't you Mister?"
"I wouldn't have it any other way, my Livvie. Wait until Lake Monster's Opening Weekend next week."
Liv thanked Raymond and the rest of his crew for the chants and taking in Chloe. The Yankees won the game 7-5 so everyone was leaving happy, except the guy in the Boston jersey. Liv exchanged numbers with Raymond, and promised him some tickets to a Lake Monsters game, against the Yankees of course.
The girl's talk on the way back from the game was all about the big upcoming wedding that would take place in Vermont. Alyssa and Brianna were talking about drawing dresses to see if Liv would like any styles they thought of.
All Chloe talked about was being a flower girl with DJ and Owen as the ring bearers. "Oh, my Wivvie, this is going be so so fun, the bestest wedding to ever happen in the whole world."
Chloe looked over at Liv. She had fallen asleep on Fitz's shoulder in the back of the car. "I think you three tired her out." Fitz smiled. Liv rarely fell asleep in car rides, he learned that the first few days he knew her. He wondered if she was feeling ok.
It didn't take long for the girls to fall fast asleep. Fitz had them do some packing and got a few of the bags ready. They would be leaving back to Vermont late afternoon tomorrow.
He wanted to talk to Liv. It had taken a few tries to wake her up in the car, and she needed a bit of guidance going up to the apartment. He was a bit concerned how tired she was.
As he thought she would, she had fallen asleep on the bed, looked like in the middle of changing. She had on her bra, having not taken it off, a shirt was still in her hand. She had put her sweats on, but she was out cold. He rubbed her head. "Liv, you alright, let's get you right on this bed."
Liv opened her eyes. She put her hands around his neck, dropping her shirt, as Fitz turned her on to the pillows. "You made me so happy tonight, Fitz. I can't wait to celebrate in Rutland with you. Us, alone, at our house, making babies." She smiled and closed her eyes.
Fitz was overthinking. She was just exhausted having the three girls all week, non stop traveling, and the excitement of the engagement. He looked at the ring resting on her finger. His body filled with happiness and longing.
For so many years he was alone. After Natalie, he never thought he would love anyone, find anyone to love him, and here Olivia lays with a ring and promise of marriage. He caressed her cheek, leaned over, kissed it gently, and joined next to her in sleep.
It wouldn't be until they got back to Rutland, would Liv discover her short time forgetting to take the pill after DJ had attacked her, led to the pregnancy she was carrying now. The NYC apartment Liv left so many months ago echoed now in silence as everyone slept off their exhaustion.
Liv woke up to a quiet apartment, the sunlight having her squint to see a note on Fitz's pillow. "Took the girls over to the soup kitchen to serve some vets then over to the thrift store to give away clothes, be home soon to make brunch, love you, FTG."
Liv had to smile. He was keeping them humble and that's what she loved most about him, his giving heart. Burping up some of the ballpark food, she had last night, Liv felt a bit of vomit come up, and she jumped to the bathroom.
Sure enough, her stomach wasn't agreeing with the peanuts and hot dog she ate last night, and she was swishing water around in her mouth after throwing it all up. She looked in the mirror. "I hope this isn't what to expect when I am pregnant." She closed her eyes.
She threw some water on her face and when she opened her eyes and turned to the towel, there stood Alyssa and Brianna in silence, trying hard not stare at the scars on Liv. Liv looked down and saw she was only in her bra, what she had fallen asleep in.
"Sorry to stare, Liv, Chloe told us about the scars, but we never saw them." Alyssa blinked and looked away.
"They are beautiful, though Olivia, how did you get them?" Brianna continued to stare with curiosity.
Fitz had run into the room. His shoulders slumped. "Girls, I told you to knock first."
"We did, we didn't hear anything, so we came in." Alyssa turned to Liv. "Chloe ran in the bathroom in the other room, and we really had to go."
"It's fine Fitz." She led the girls to the bed. She told them the story about the accident and how she received the scars. The girls listened without interruption and when she was finished, Brianna, the least affectionate of all three, climbed onto Olivia's lap and gave her the biggest hug.
Brianna's head was resting on Olivia's shoulder. "I am so sorry you lost your daddy and you got hurt, but Olivia, I meant it, those scars are beautiful, and they are a reminder of your father, how he loved you." She showed Olivia her foot, with the scar, and Liv remembered when Chloe told her about it in the warehouse.
"I got cut by glass too. I needed 35 stitches." Liv looked at the scar. It was impressive in her little foot, and Brianna was so proud of it.
Chloe had come in, and Fitz had picked her up as Liv finished up her story. She looked over at Alyssa. "Are you ok, honey?"
"I was just thinking, your wedding dress should come off your shoulders, so everyone could see them, they are a part of you, and you shouldn't be ashamed ever of who you are, that's what my teacher says."
"I am not ashamed, I once was, but Fitz changed all that."
"So, who is ready for some pancakes? They're getting cold in the kitchen."
A chorus of ME burst out and the girls ran to the kitchen as Fitz waited for Olivia to put on a shirt. As she walked towards the door, he wrapped her in his arms.
"I love you Olivia Carolyn Pope, and I can't wait for you to become Mrs. Fitzgerald Grant and one day" His hand rested on her stomach, and hers went over it, "have my baby in here to begin to make our family."
He put his arm around her shoulders, hers around his waist and they joined the girls out at the table before all the pancakes were gone.
