Chapter 41-Our Love
Olivia never did mind being alone. She lived most of her adult life alone. It never bothered her they way it would bother other people. She simply wasn't a people person. Nope, loneliness would not succumb to Olivia Pope, that's what she told herself.
That lie was being tested now. It had been two weeks since she has spoken to Fitz. Two weeks since the most magical time in her life, two weeks since she said yes to marriage, and two weeks since their fight. Things weren't so magical in Olitz land, as the girls called them.
He was as upset with her as she was with him, and although she was sure they would look back on this time as a glitch, right now, Olivia's heart felt ripped in two. At this point Olivia didn't even know who to blame, if either one of them is to blame, maybe they just needed a break.
If it was a break, she was understanding the meaning of heartbreak. Staring at her gorgeous ring in the very place she promised she would never come to without him, the loneliness consumed her. She needed to though, it was the only place no one knew about except him and her.
She drew in a deep breath, feeling her heart skip a beat as she did. She looked away from the ring, the spring Vermont sun shining on the glistening pond. She blinked, and a teardrop fell to her jaw. She wiped it away and patted Daisy on the head.
"You won't leave my side will you girl? I'm glad I brought you here. I didn't want to be completely alone. You miss him, don't you? So do I, more than I've missed anyone in my life, even my father." She closed her eyes. "Mellie." She said the name out loud. "That bitch Mellie." Daisy put her head down, rested it between her paws and watched the fish swim in the water in from of them.
"I promised him, I promised him I would never come here without him", Liv spoke looking around the log cabin grounds. "I told him I loved him here, we made love for the first time here, and I showed him my scars here, in that very cabin." Liv got up and Daisy immediately followed.
Walking passed the woodshed, where Olivia remembers Fitz chopping the wood, she paused. She stopped and stared for a moment. His beautiful body using the ax to split the wood. How he walked over to her, a sweaty mess, and lifted her up in kiss. She didn't realize her arms were hugging her shoulders. Shaking off the memory, she proceeded into the house through the back door.
Daisy's nose pointed in the air. Liv noticed her ears get a bit pointy and she walked a bit faster towards the kitchen. "Woof." A small bark, Daisy wasn't much of an aggressive dog. Liv looked, stepping slowly into the kitchen. Her eyes grew wide.
"Who are you?" She said as not to completely startle the stranger, he looked a bit frail.
"Jesus, lady." And a cup of water dropped to the kitchen floor, slipping out of his surprised hands.
Fitz stared out of the window from the back seat of the car. Max was driving him home from the airport a day earlier than expected. He just finished a six game homestand with the Lake Monsters. They played the Detroit Tigers opening weekend and then the Toronto Blue Jays this past series. In both series, Fitz saw how good the team was and how they swept both teams in all three games.
Opening weekend far outreached Fitz's expectations. He still couldn't believe Olivia didn't join him, he was asked about her, having to tell a lie that she was under the weather. He hated fighting with her, but things were said, and they both hurt each other. Now, two weeks without her and his heart was shattered. He never knew missing someone would hurt so much.
He found joy in baseball ownership, and his mind was occupied for a bit. He interacted with the players, spoke to them before the game, he wanted to get to know them, get to know their families. After the success of opening weekend prior to this homestand, Fitz was feeling better than he ever had being an owner.
With Two Shot still doing therapy and worrying about Monica, Sparks taking a much needed vacation after the opening weekend, Fitz was a solo owner and it felt good. He never thought Olivia would miss opening day, knowing what it meant to him, but she did.
Ever since the engagement, she hadn't been herself. She was tired all the time, cranky, and rarely wanted to leave the house. The one time he was in the shower, the day before he left for opening weekend, his phone buzzed, and Liv saw who the caller was.
Fitz looked out the windshield now. "Max, how much longer?"
"GPS says 20 minutes to the house, boss."
"Thank you."
"Do you want to make a stop anywhere?" Max didn't like seeing him without Olivia, and he noticed the change in Fitz immediately. Fitz was sad, lonely, but he hid it well, but not from Max.
"No, thank you, Max, just home, I'm beat." He put his head back down. He looked at the display on his phone. There were no missed calls, no voicemails, no texts, and the picture of him and Liv stared back at him.
The backdrop was the NY skyline, and she had her hand up, pointing to the engagement ring. Her mouth open with happiness, as he was cheek to cheek with her, looking at the camera. He tossed the phone to the side on the seat and closed his eyes.
It was exactly how Liv tossed the phone as he came out of the shower, but she tossed it at the bed, not at him. "Why the hell is Mellie calling you? I thought we put an end to this Fitz?"
Fitz took a deep breath. He meant to tell her, he really did, but he just didn't know how. He knows what Mellie did, what Mellie tried to do to them, and he shouldn't have contact with her. He couldn't help it, Mellie had been a friend for a very long time, despite her mistakes, and she was crying, begging, for help, he couldn't not help her, it wasn't in his heart.
As if Olivia read his mind. "You have to be so good Fitz. It's what I love most about you, but at times it could be your worst quality, she dug her own hole, let her find her way out of it."
Putting on his boxers, he turned to her. "It's just this once, I told her no more. I told her to call when she got the payment."
"It's your money, I don't care about that, but…you know what, I'm not doing this. For God's sake Fitz, she made a spectacle in the park, scared and threatened Chloe, and lied for DJ, whom you remember tried to kill me and Chloe, but yeah, just help her."
"Liv." He walked to her to give her a hug.
"No." She pushed his hand away, "no, don't touch me, just…you know what, I'm going downstairs."
"Max will be here with the car at 11 tomorrow. Please be ready." Fitz pleaded.
"I'm sitting this one out, I'm not going. We could use the time apart."
Fitz's shoulders slumped. "What do you mean apart? Liv you know what this weekend means to me, to the team, don't do this, not tonight, not this weekend."
"Fitz, get your priorities straight." Liv turned to walk out.
"You are my priority, Livvie." He knows she heard the hurt in his voice.
Daisy jumped from the bed and followed Liv. "I don't feel like I am." She looked at Daisy. "You haven't left my side since we came back, what is it with you?"
So, Fitz gave her the space. He didn't even call her and much to his surprise, she didn't call him. These were, by far, the most miserable two weeks of his life since his captivity. He was looking forward to just seeing her now, even if she didn't talk to him.
"Ma'am I am so sorry. You're Ms. Pope, correct? I am Chester. I take care of the cabin while Mr. Grant is away. I had no idea you were coming here today. My apologies."
"Hi Chester, please, no apology needed. Fitz did mention you come once a month to take care of the cabin. This is unexpected on my part, and Mr. Grant does not know I am here, could we keep this private, please?"
"Of course. Do you need anything? I stocked the fridge with the normal necessities that will not go bad, but if you need anything I can go to town to get it."
Liv thought for a moment. She shook her head, "I am fine, is there anything here for Daisy?"
Chester looked down at Daisy who walked slowly to him then began wagging her tail once she took in his smell. "Hello to you too Ms. Daisy, long time no see. You've grown." Chester was petting her now. "There is dog food in the cabinet, and a box of her favorite unopened treats. I'm never quite sure when Mr. Grant will bring her."
Liv gave a small smile. "If you don't mind me asking, how did you know who I was?"
"Oh, you're all over the news with Mr. Grant. You two make the perfect couple. He is so happy in your presence. Congratulations on your engagement as well. I am so excited for him, and for you."
"Oh, yes." Liv covered her face, a bit of embarrassment showing. "I forget the celebrity he has become, and I am usually by his side. He's finishing up opening day weekend and the Lake Monsters opening series."
"Yes", Chester understood Fitz's absence. "They won all six games. I watched them all on television. Mr. Grant is a wonderful boss; I can imagine how his presence has helped the team. If you'll be ok here, I will get going." He put his card on the island counter in the kitchen. "If you need anything, Ms. Pope, please don't hesitate to call me."
"Thank you, Chester, it was a pleasure meeting you. I will text you when I am leaving. I'm probably going to stay two nights, the most."
"Yes, Ma'am, and the pleasure has been all mine. Mr. Grant is one lucky man."
"Thank you." Liv watched as Daisy was the perfect host and walked Chester to the door. Liv took a deep breath as the door closed and she sat on the loveseat facing the big window. Her emotions were a whirlwind lately, and she finally figured out why. That was the reason she put her hands over her face and began to sob, crying hard, and Daisy hopped on the seat with her. She rested her head on Liv's lap, trying to make the hurt go away.
Liv's car wasn't in his driveway. He couldn't complain, she thinks he's coming home tomorrow. He changed from his "ownership" suit into something more comfortable. He looked at his phone again. He was bout to text her, give in and stop the nonsense, but he didn't.
He tossed on some gray sweats, his Navy t-shirt (Liv's favorite), and his sneakers. He wondered where Daisy was, and his stomach dropped for a moment. Maybe Liv headed back to New York, and she left Daisy with Monica or Lara. She wouldn't do that, though without leaving a note. "Shit" he whispered.
He jogged over to Liv's place. Monica was sitting on the porch. She waved to Fitz as she saw him heading up the driveway. "Thought you weren't coming home until tomorrow."
He stepped up on the porch and took the chair next to Monica. "Yeah, I left a day earlier. The team leaves tomorrow for Texas and Sparks will meet up with them there. He's in Houston finishing up a four-state vacation with Letecia and the kids. Where's Liv, do you know?"
Monica shook her head. "No, I saw her leave early this morning with Daisy, but haven't seen her back since."
"How are you feeling? Sam getting excited?"
"Yeah, he's at physical therapy now. He's able to stand now. Still no movement in his legs, but he's standing, it's a good sign. Gender reveal in two days, you two will be here right?"
"Wouldn't miss it for the world. I'm going to head to Lara's if you see Liv, just don't mention I was here, ok."
"You two alright? I was surprised she didn't go with you these two weeks. She really hasn't been around. She's been very distant."
Fitz just smiled; a bit tight lipped. "Just some misunderstanding, we're fine. Tell Sam I'll stop by to see him. Take it easy Monica."
Fitz jogged back to his place. He didn't want to drive anywhere. He could feel his body tensing up. Was it anger? Was it nerves? He wasn't sure. He called Max.
"Sorry to do this to you, but can you swing back here. I have some places to go and I'm not it the driving mood."
"Sure thing, boss, I'll be there in a few."
Swallowing his pride, letting his heart get the best of him, Fitz texted Liv. "Where are you?"
He stared at the phone. The message said "delivered." He grabbed a beer from the fridge. While he waited for Liv to answer back, he wondered if she did indeed take a ride to New York. He didn't want to make Huck nervous and text him, so he waited.
Liv heard her phone buzz and read the display, not having to open the message. The relief that came over her body when she saw it was Fitz asking where she was, just made her cry some more. "I know this is normal to be a barrel of emotions, but I don't know how many tears I have left girl." Liv talked to Daisy.
After opening weekend, Lara called Liv. "Liv why aren't you with Fitz? What's going on?"
"Nothing, it's just…."Liv stopped. Her youngest daughter was tormented by Mellie, she wasn't going to have Lara mad at Fitz also. Besides Lara was knee deep in turning around City Hall being the new mayor. "I don't know, I'm just not myself. Fitz and I had a few words and, well he's there and I'm here."
"Why don't you stop by for dinner? The girls haven't stopped talking about the trip. They may make you feel better. It's the one day I'm on a light schedule and it's taco Tuesday here at the McClellan's. Come on by."
Reluctantly, she agreed. Lara hung up the phone. This was not in Liv's character, something more was happening, but she didn't want her friend alone and depressed. She was surprised at Fitz also, he's the type that would have moved mountains to have Liv with him.
Liv wasn't herself with the girls. They brought out the American Girl dolls they haven't stopped playing with since they came home from New York. Alyssa and Brianna showed her two outfits they made themselves for all three dolls.
Chloe jumped on Liv's lap. "Wivvie, why awen't you with Fitz? Are you angwy at him?"
Lara noticed Liv's eyes swell with tears. "No Chloe, I'm not angry, we just had different things to do."
Chloe picked up Liv's hand. "This wing is so so beeeeeutiful, I was so so happy you said yes."
"Me too butterfly." Liv looked up to stop the tear from falling. Lara noticed.
"Chloe, go get your bath ready, it's almost time for bed."
Chloe hugged Olivia. "Don't be sad Wivvie. Fitz will be back soon. I know you miss him so so much."
"Liv." Lara whispered. "What's going on. This isn't like you."
Liv shrugged. "Our first big fight. I guess it's expected, but does it hurt. And, I am just so damn tired. For about two weeks now, exhausted. I cry at the drop of a hat. I just don't know."
Lara nodded. "Must have been serious for him to go up to the games without you."
"Yeah." Liv wouldn't go any further though. "At least I have Daisy though. This girl won't leave my side. She's in full protection mode. You would think Huck programmed her."
Lara nodded. "Liv, call me, ok, day or night. You know that."
"I will, thanks Lara." Liv looked at the door opening, and Bryce walked in from work.
"Hey Liv, thought you'd be with Fitz this weekend."
Liv stood up. "Yeah, you and a hundred others. Good to see you Bryce. Have a good night. Lara, thank you again for dinner."
"Liv, you didn't even touch your food, you sure you don't want to bring any home."
'I'm good, thank you." She walked out; Daisy close behind.
Bryce turned to Lara. "What is that all about?"
"I'm not sure she knows it yet, but she's pregnant."
Bryce's head went back in surprise. "If she doesn't know it, how do you know it?"
"MOM"! Alyssa yelled.
"STOP CALLING MOM YOU TATTLETALE!" Brianna voice chimed in.
"GET OUT I'M NAKED IN THE BATHWOOM!" Chloe yelled.
Lara turned and looked back at Bryce. "Oh, I know." Lara walked over to settle the battle before World War Three broke out.
If Lara would have told Liv her thoughts on why she was so emotional, Liv would've realized how spot on Lara was. The day after her taco Tuesday visit, she went to Randolph to meet with a OB/GYN. She didn't think she was pregnant, she just wanted to talk to someone about her emotions, which seemed hormonal. Maybe it was from stopping the pill.
The doctor did some blood work and came back with the results a few minutes later. "You, lucky lady, are pregnant."
Liv's mouth dropped open. "How, I mean, not how, but yeah, how?"
The Dr's eyebrows went up. "Do I really need to explain how?"
"I mean, I was on the pill, I thought." Liv stopped.
"Did you stop taking it at any point?"
Liv thought. "I missed maybe two weeks after…" she stopped. It was after DJ took her and Chloe. "But I went back on it."
"During those two weeks, did you have sex?"
Liv began crying, Fitz should be here for this. She rubbed her eyes. "Yes, I did."
"Judging by when your last period was, you seem to be about six weeks along. You do want the baby, don't you?"
Liv hesitated. Not because she didn't want the baby, because of how much her and Fitz talked about it, and it's really happening. "Yes, of course."
"Good. Come back in two weeks. We will have your first ultrasound. Here's a prescription for some vitamins, and get some rest, you look exhausted. That's also what is causing your change in emotions. It's not uncommon the first few weeks of pregnancy. Congratulations."
So that's why Liv was sitting alone in the cabin. This place was too special. If she was going to tell him, it was going to be there. She just wasn't expecting a text from him until tomorrow. "Here goes nothing Daisy."
Fitz took another look at the display. He was about to leave the house and head over to Lara and Bryce's next. The text was marked "read" and three dots were moving on his screen. He took a sigh of relief.
"At the cabin." Fitz read the words. She would never go there without him, she said so herself. Something was definitely off with her. He threw some clothes in his bag. He texted back right away.
"Without me? Liv, what the hell?"
Three dots almost instantly. "I just needed some place to think."
"Whatever." He texted back. He didn't want to let on he was going straight there. He called Sophie. He was going need to some home cooked meals, and fast. He rushed out the door to the car, Max waiting for him.
Ever since Mellie's baby was born, she had been calling Big Gerry. Her father was in frail health, and she needed as much assistance as she could to help him and take care of the baby. Big Gerry had helped her as much as he could, sending a nurse's assistant there to help with her father.
Big Gerry was now taking a welcomed vacation. He was on a fishing expedition with his retired buddies from the Senate. He had little to no signal on his cell phone.
That's when Mellie reached out to Fitz. She called, and called, and called. After about ten attempts he picked up mad as hell. "You were told no contact with me, what is your problem."
She brought on the tears. The perfect little Mellie act, only this time she wasn't acting. Fitz heard it in her voice, and she knew his heart of gold wouldn't let her suffer. She told him about Big Gerry helping, and Fitz told her, just once, and that's it.
Mellie saw the engagement on television. Her heart sank. She had always been there for Fitz, had she known the extent of his pain, she never would have slept with DJ, did what she did in the park. She lied when DJ escaped for the sake of her baby. She had no idea what he would do to Olivia and that little brat.
Fitz came through, though. He wired her money. He wired her enough money to leave him alone for a long time. He sent a message with the wire to just text him when she got it, it would be the last communication. She did, but she didn't want to end communication.
When he didn't text back, for two weeks now, she knew it was finished. She wasn't going to push her luck anymore. She had to accept her mistakes, her misfortunes, and when her father did succumb to his illness eventually, she would reach out to him again.
On his way now to the cabin, nightfall just an hour away, he was thinking how he never should have picked up the phone with Mellie. But Liv should've talked to him. She just was so not herself. He didn't understand what was going on, but he needed this fixed. His heart couldn't take anymore.
Liv looked at the text. "Whatever" she whispered. She rubbed her stomach. "Whatever" she said again. She went out, got her bag, locked the door and got ready for bed. She was an emotional mess right now, and she needed to shut down her thoughts.
She looked at the staircase. She remembered their love making on that very staircase, around the whole cabin. He was everywhere. Their love was everywhere, that is why she had to be here. Their love was stronger than Mellie, their love was stronger than their absence from each other for two weeks, their love was strong because they created a life together.
It was now up to Olivia to bring that life into this world, safely, healthy, and added stress wouldn't do any good. She had to find a way to tell Fitz. They had to forgive each other, for the sake of their love. She knew who he was when she fell for him.
He was a town savior, a golden heart giver, and she couldn't expect him to change. There was evil in the world, people who tortured him, yet Olivia believes Fitz would even help them, despite his anger. "A baby, Daisy. We're having a baby." She began to cry, burying her head in the pillow.
Daisy was cuddled up close to Liv on the bed. She was in a sound sleep, much like Olivia was as the nightfall began. Olivia was exhausted and Daisy was tired watching over her. It was rough work protecting Olivia and the baby, that Daisy had a sense of the moment she came back from New York.
Oliva had tossed on one of Fitz's long t shirts and plopped down on the bed with that and her underwear. She needed his smell, as she cried herself into the very sleep she was in now.
The lock on the door turned, Daisy growled a small growl, Olivia not moving. Daisy jumped down from the bed and walked over to the door. She began wagging her tail, fast and furious, as Fitz closed the door quietly.
He placed some trays of food on the island and put his finger to his lips. Daisy was jumping all over him, and he was petting her so she wouldn't make too much noise. "Hey girl, hey there, where's our Livvie huh? You taking care of her? She's sleeping? Yeah, good girl."
He walked over to the bed. The glow from the pond coming into the room. The light over the hot tub was on, and Fitz could see her clearly. Sleeping, her hand, as usual over her scar on her stomach. Her other hand at her side.
She looked heavenly. Had she been crying, he wondered. He took his shirt off, along with his sweats. He missed her terribly, and everything and anything that happened, had to be done now. He couldn't be without her for another second.
He kissed her lips, gently. Her head moved to the side. He heard a moan. Her shirt moved up, from her hand, not his, and she whispered his name. Her eyes were still closed.
With her shirt up, he kissed her stomach, and her hand rested on his head, rubbing his curls. Again, she moaned, whispered his name, and turned her head.
"Baby, I'm here." He continued to kiss her, and he raised her shirt passed her breasts, and began kissing them as well. Now both her hands were in his hair, and she swirled them around. Her eyes blinked open, and she jumped.
"It's not a dream, I'm here, Livvie, I'm here, and I am so sorry." He began crying into the crook of her neck. She hugged him, a tight hug, feeling his skin on hers.
She began kissing his neck. "No, baby, I am sorry. I can't do this without you, ever Fitz, I can't."
He buried his lips on hers, devouring what he's missed for two weeks. His tongue slipping in and out as his hand went down to her panties. She pulled back for air, trying to speak, but he devoured her mouth again.
In a swift motion, he went down, removed her underwear and kissed her inner thighs. Her eyes closed and she couldn't bring herself to find any words. His tongue found her clit, and he entered her, causing her moan and to call out his name.
He was ravenous down there, entering his tongue in and out of her, her body not expecting such a jolt from the sleep she was in mere moments ago. "Jesus, Fitz, Oh my God." Her stomach arched up as he began relentlessly sucking now and then back to licking.
"Ahh, Fitz." She couldn't hold on much longer, and he knew it.
The tip of his tongue now at the top of her clit, as his hand played with her nipple. She closed her eyes, as she let the sensation run through her body, and her stomach tightened, and she let out a breath, and continued to breath unevenly as she tried to come down from her orgasm.
He wasn't making it easy, as he continued to lick her down her fold, she just tasted so good, and he missed her so much. He used his tongue to go up her stomach, he stopped at her left breast, and took the nipple in his teeth, biting down softly, as her body shook from the touch.
"Fitz. I need."
"No, no talking." He pinned her hands next to her head, grasping her wrists. "I can't stand another minute not being inside you. I fucking missed you so much. Don't. Ever. Do. This. Again." One big thrust and he was in her, and she gasped from the feel of him.
"Uhhhhh God, Fitz, please." He began pumping, hard, still holding her hands in place.
"Please what?" He grunted. "Please more? Or do you want me to stop?"
She couldn't speak. His chest was up, and he was thrusting so hard into her, he could only hear their bodies slapping.
"Don't st." She couldn't get the word out, as her second orgasm took her body over. She couldn't even move her hands; they were still pinned in his grasp.
"Mmmm" She was coming down, so weak, and she felt him stop.
He rolled her around, so she was on top. She was weak, he could feel it, and he loved it. He sat up, and they were face to face. Her legs were bent next to either side of his body, and her hands were now on his chest.
His hands were on her ass, and he moved her bottom rapidly over his still hardened erection, looking in her eyes, grunting. Their lips inches apart. "Fitz, I…"
His lips went on to hers. His tongue pushing its way to the back of her throat as he pumped hard into her. He pulled back. He kept pumping, then he grabbed her hands, put them behind her, and moved deep within her.
"God, Livvie, you are so fucking beautiful, how I've missed you." His teeth now grinding, and she couldn't take another moment of his relentless grinding, and with her hands pinned, he watched her body shake, and he pumped every ounce of himself into her.
She fell, without an ounce of strength left in her and buried her face into his neck. He felt the tears, and he rubbed her hair and her back simultaneously.
"Livvie, did I hurt you?"
She shook her head. He didn't hurt her at all, she was just full of emotions. "I love you, Fitz.", she whispered as she closed her eyes.
"I love you Livvie, I can't be without you, I can't not talk to you."
She nodded. "I know." She rolled off him, keeping her head on his chest. "Two weeks, it felt like a year."
"Liv, Mellie..." Liv put her finger on his lips.
"No, Fitz, not now. I missed opening weekend. I shouldn't have done that to you. I don't blame you for not forgiving me."
"There's nothing you could do that I wouldn't forgive you for, Liv." He continued to caress her hair, and he kissed the top of her head. "You haven't been yourself. What's going on? Are you having second thoughts about the engagement?"
Her elbow rested on his shoulder. She was looking directly at him now. "God, no, never Fitz. We're going to argue, no couple is perfect."
"I know, but two weeks. That was excessive."
"You were away, I was in my needing alone time. It happens, it's our love that will get us through."
"I missed you so much." He pushed her head, so he could grab her lips. She fell into the kiss, caressing his face.
"Fitz. Sit up with me." They both leaned on the backboard. She turned so she was facing him, sitting sideways now. She took both his hands in hers.
"What is it Liv?" He was smiling, but he was cautious.
Liv began crying, tears coming down. "Damn it, this fucking crying has to stop."
"Why are you crying? You need more time apart? Please don't say you need more time apart Liv."
"No, not at all." She rubbed her tears away then took his hands again. "I'm so scared Fitz, but I know you will be with me through it all."
"Through what? Liv, what's going on?"
She covered her eyes and nose with her hand. She took a deep breath. She looked at him, looking so nervously at her. She wrapped her arms around him, put her lips up to his ear. "We're having a baby Fitz. I'm pregnant." She buried her face again into his neck and felt him hold her tighter, as she closed her eyes with relief.
His hands were on her shoulders, and he pushed her back, just staring at her, mouth opened in shock. "We're, you're, oh my God, and I just fucked you like that? Did I hurt the baby?"
Liv had to chuckle, "I don't think so, at least I hope not. The little thing may be pissed you disturbed the quiet though."
He laughed. "Liv, a baby?"
She shook her head excitedly. "A baby."
He hugged her, holding her tight to him, and laid back down. He turned on his belly and her on back. He just looked at her, his hand resting now on her stomach. "Don't be scared Livvie. We are in this together."
She put her hand over his, and closed her eyes. She drifted off to sleep, as did he, both having a hand resting over Liv's stomach, dreaming of the life they created through the love that would let nothing come between it.
