The crowd whistled and clapped when Jin and Yusuke met in the middle.
"Finally, Jin is ready to fight! He's going to tear Yusuke into pieces!"
"Might as well give up now, spirit detective! No one beats the wind master!"
"Yusuke needs to be on high alert if he wants to win," Tsuki stated. "Jin isn't going to back down."
Kurama nodded. "And looks like the captain is pretty excited about it."
Jin beamed at Yusuke. "Lucky eyes you got." He glared at the audience. "Hmm, damn it! I can't believe the ruckus they're washing up! You can't even make a thought! Of course, I wouldn't mind if it weren't for the ears." He pointed at one, smiling brightly. "See they're all pointy up and wigglin, unlike they were before."
Tsuki smiled. Jin's carefree personality caught her attention. Of all the Team Mashōtsukai's members, she liked his energy the most.
Yusuke blinked. "What?"
"Gettin that way when I'm happy or excited, and I haven't been either in a very long time!" Jin bounced up and down sporadically. "But saw biggie flyin' up all the way high and past! Woo! Almost lost it!"
"What an interesting guy," Tsuki complimented.
Kurama's expression became amused. "Yes, and it seems Yusuke is warming up to him."
Jin whispered to Yusuke. They covered their mouths, chuckling.
Kuwabara lifted himself into a sitting position, eyeing the whole interaction. "Why is he laughing with the bad guy?"
Botan straightened herself up. "Beats me."
Yusuke grinned. "You're a crazy bastard, you know that? You went and got me all in a good mood. And I was about to use my anger from Bakken to pound you to the ground."
"Nah, don't lump me in with biggie. He was just a jerk." Jin's eyes turned serious. "Goin and bearin a grudge is no way to start a fight, so it says. You'll never have any cheerin' up that way. Just good ol' fight to find the strongest guy is all."
Tsuki's eyes widened as a mighty wind splurged, lifting Jin off his feet. "He's radiating so much power."
"Jin uses his spiritual energy to fly," Kurama informed. "A good technique, but he can only go as fast as the wind takes him."
"Wow! Hold on to your hair, people! Jin is unleashing his energy!" Koto announced. "He's floating several inches off the ring floor supported by his terrific wind! And I haven't even started this match yet!"
"I guess you weren't kidding with the wind master thing." Yusuke stood tall while the wind slashed his face. "Here we go, Jin! I can't say my ears are pointed up, but I'm looking forward to this challenge!"
Jin crossed his legs as he floated. His eyes glowed with anticipation. "That's the spirit! Let's have some fun then!"
"You can do it, Yusuke!" Tsuki cheered.
"You got in the bag!" Botan shouted.
"Match 4 Yusuke vs. Jin!" Koto performed the signal. "Let it rip!"
Yusuke charged. Before he could launch his punch, Jin ascended like a rocket.
"Oh wow! Jin easily dodged Yusuke's attack by shooting straight up in the air, but he doesn't seem to be stopping!" Koto declared.
Tsuki gazed up. "I can't see him. He must be high in the sky."
"That's such a cool power to have," Kuwabara complimented. "I bet he can see everything."
"Hey, come on!" Yusuke stomped his foot and scowled. "You got a match to lose!"
Koto scanned the blue sky. "Here we go! Jin is using the sun as a blinder! He's coming down fast!"
"Sorry, Urameshi!" Jin soared towards Yusuke, grinning. "But I'm getting my prize!"
"Let's do this." Yusuke inched forward, but Jin swiftly jetted over him.
"Hold on a second!" Koto announced as Jin whizzed around the arena. "Jin's deliberating avoiding hitting Yusuke! What could be going through the wind master's head?!"
"He's a showoff." Tsuki's eyes trailed Jin's every move. "Reminds me of Yusuke."
"Yes," Kurama agreed. "Yusuke definitely met his match."
"Damn, he's fast." The spirit detective skidded to an abrupt halt. "What's he doing?"
"Nothin to be in a fuss for, Urameshi." Jin swirled and headed straight for him. "Man's just got to get the right spirit before he fights. Don't ya think it's so?"
"You know, one of these days I'm gonna fight someone who talks like a normal person!" Yusuke threw a punch.
Tsuki gasped as Jin dodged and landed a jab in his face.
Botan cringed. "Ooh, that was a hard one."
"Hopefully, Urameshi can recover," Kuwabara stated.
Yusuke winced from the blow. "How about a trade?" He swung his leg in an awkward position while Jin ducked and threw a cross.
"Yusuke's attempt proves unable to compete with Jin's swift aerial attack!" Koto announced while the spirit detective toppled in the ring. "His elbow and kick combination came from an almost impossible stance! Nearly unheard of in any martial arts school! I can't imagine a master teaching him that one!"
The masked fighter sighed, the tiredness in her voice apparent. "What a stupid move."
"That's Yusuke for you," Hiei stated. "Always thinking outside his box."
"Ok, I heard that loud and clear." Yusuke rose, wiping the blood from his face.
Tsuki eyebrow's furrowed. "This is bad if Jin keeps flying around in the air. Yusuke can't touch him."
Botan's tone turned sharp. "And Ms. Koto is going to let Jin do whatever he wants."
Jin smiled. "You took a punch straight in the face just for a chance to kick me. You're a crazy one for sure, Urameshi."
"I admit, that didn't have much of a chance." Yusuke returned the smile. "Keep punching like that and you'll enjoy this."
"We're a pair in a pod, Urameshi. Never wantin to do anything the way people tell us to. Even if we don't make sense." Jin chuckled and flicked his ear. "Better to be messy on your own than right under someone's watch, am I right?"
"Well, yeah," Yusuke agreed. "Why let some teacher get the whole credit? Heh, I figured I've been doing alright on my own so far."
"Kill Yusuke. Kill Yusuke. Kill Yusuke." The audience chanted loudly. Some demons growled and stomped their feet.
"Looks like the crowd isn't feeling their bonding moment," Tsuki said, glancing around. "I guess demons can't have human friends."
"What in the world are they talking about?" Botan questioned, tilting her head.
Kuwabara grinned. "Urameshi finally found someone he could play with. He's been a loner for about as long as I've known him. But this Jin guy is just the same, like a twin."
"Hm," Botan pondered. "Well, that would make fighting with him difficult."
Kurama wrinkled his face as he laughed softly.
"What's wrong, Kurama?" Botan asked. "Are you alright?"
"Just laughing. It seems you don't know brothers very well, Botan."
"Me neither," Tsuki admitted. "But I do know they're both enjoying their match."
Jin landed back in the ring. He squatted and lifted his arm. "Let me show ya somethin' I picked up without the help of bosses flappin their gums."
Tsuki's eyebrows shot up while her hair blew wildly. Jin spun his arm fast, creating a twister around his wrist.
"Wow! Is that what I think i-YES! Jin has actually created a miniature twister around his entire right arm! The wind is tremendous!" Koto announced while she covered herself.
Jin smiled brightly. "This is one of my favorites! Tornado fists the name!"
"This could be bad for Yusuke. That attack Jin is using is much more powerful than it appears," the masked fighter explained.
Hiei uncrossed his arms, putting his hands inside pockets. "We'll see what the detective does."
"So ya ready?" Jin charged with his fist out. "Hahahahaha!"
"Amazing how he created that power by himself," Kurama acclaimed.
"Yusuke needs to avoid a direct hit," Tsuki stated. "Jin's twister could be fatal."
Yusuke's body tensed as Jin threw a punch. He evaded to the side, but the wind spun his body, flying him out like a windmill.
"Looks like Yusuke got a date with the cement!" Koto declared.
Kuwabara and Botan caught their breaths.
Tsuki and Kurama swallowed hard.
Yusuke quickly clung to the wall, breathing a sigh of relief.
"Nicely played! But I don't suspect he'll stay there for long! Here comes Jin with the second helping!" Koto announced while Jin soared towards Yusuke.
"Oh goodness," Tsuki flinched when Yusuke gasped and jumped to the left.
Jin's punch landed on the stadium's wall. Demons and rumbles flew everywhere as the impact created an enormous dent.
"I love it!" Koto spun. "There's the audience's awesome participation that makes the Dark Tournament so special! I imagine those who survived that attack will remember it for years to come!"
"Audience participation?! Grrr," Botan curled her lips with icy contempt. "I hate that girl!"
"Botan, it's okay," Tsuki assured.
"At least Yusuke avoided that strong attack," Kurama added.
"This is bad." With the support of his arms, Kuwabara leaned his body back. "It doesn't matter how strong Urameshi is or how much fun he's having. If Jin hits him straight home with that tornado fist, it's over with."
"This is stupid!" Yusuke brushed his nose and sneered. "How the hell am I supposed to defend myself with that?!"
"You better think of something quick, detective," Hiei warned. "Jin isn't going to allow you to win so easily."
"Yes," the masked fighter agreed. "Don't underestimate him."
"Hahahahahahehehe!" Jin's ears jiggled as he beamed at Yusuke. "Whew, that's a wiggle! Long time since I could fight somebody and actually have a cheer about it, ya' know!"
Yusuke cracked a smile as they both landed back in the arena. "I think I do."
"Both fighters are back and ready for some fresh new injuries!" Koto announced.
"Let's see if ya can handle another one!" Jin spun his arm.
"Not again," Tsuki groaned softly. "Yusuke, stop him!"
Yusuke lunged. "Not this time, pal!" He threw countless punches at the speechless Jin.
Jin speedily blocked his fists. He crossed his arms as Yusuke kept charging.
"And Jin keeps dodging Yusuke's attack!" Koto announced while she constantly moved her head. "And it's becoming too fast to see! But then I guess you people from the audience are used to that by now!"
"Wow, Jin's defense is phenomenal," Tsuki praised.
Kuwabara blinked rapidly. "Yeah, Urameshi can't get in a punch."
"On the ground, Yusuke has the greater speed. But unless he can clip Jin's wings, it's pointless," Hiei informed.
"Ahhh! Take this!" Yusuke smirked when he uppercut Jin in his gut.
"Nice, Yusuke!" Tsuki cheered as Jin clutched his stomach.
Yusuke launched his hook. "Here's my chance!"
Jin heaved, flying up.
"Damn it!" Yusuke scowled, glaring daggers at Jin. "And there's my chance going airborne!"
"Interesting, Jin isn't like Chū. He can't take Yusuke's punch,' Kurama expounded.
Tsuki bobbed her head. "Yes, but as long as he has his wind and speed, Jin can easily dodge Yusuke's physical attacks."
"Jin's been hit hard!" Koto declared while Jin rubbed his stomach. "He's taking refuge in the air until his squash diaphragm can recover!"
Botan marched, eyeing Koto murderously. "That's it! I had enough of her silly shenanigans!" She placed her hands on the ring. "Listen, Ms. Koto! Why don't you stop this sadist routine and do your job!"
Koto whipped her head, leering at Botan. "Excuse me?!"
"Jin's been out of the ring for half of the fight!" Botan informed. "Did it EVER cross your mind to count to 10?!"
Koto gave a condescending smirk. "According to Article 4 in the rule handbook, fighters are outside the ring when any part of their body comes in contact with any solid surface other than the ring itself! And air is not solid!"
"These rules are annoying," Tsuki muttered under breath.
Botan gawked with unbelieving eyes. "Why I-"
Koto lowered the microphone, cutting her off. "Stick to what you're good at, honey." She winked and flicked her hair. "Like dying your hair unnatural colors for instance."
"Ergh!" Botan shook her fist. "I swear I'm going to get her!"
"Hey! What is this?!" Kuwabara demanded. "How's Urameshi supposed to have a fair fight if Jin can fly whatever he wants."
Tsuki frowned, troubled by this predicament. "Yusuke better get Jin now before he recovers."
'Spirit gun!" Yusuke's energy blasted through the air, heading for Jin, who let out a high-pitch scream.
"Bingo!" Botan cheered.
"That's right," Yusuke smirked as the blast drew close. "I'm cool."
"Yes! Brilliant play by Yusuke!" Koto declared. "Will Jin be able to move back in time with that stuttering off-guard position?! Not too likely!"
Jin twirled. "Always underestimating the wind!" He created a large tornado that instantly clashed with the spirit gun, deflecting it in the opposite direction.
"Hey!" Yusuke hollered while his blast vanished in the sky. "I needed that!"
"What?!" Tsuki cried out. "His spirit gun didn't work?!"
"The wind in the upper atmosphere has extraordinary amounts of energy," the masked fighter explained. "Once up in the air, Jin can easily control the spirit gun movements."
"With his hit and run tactics, the detective is in a tight spot," Hiei stated.
"Whew," Jin breathed a sigh of relief. "Real heart pounder that one was."
"Did we get that on video?!" Koto inquired. "PLEASE tell me we got that on video?! Jin just used a wall of wind to turn Yusuke's blast into a space cadet!"
Jin hovered happily in the air. "Ahehehehehehehe! Don't get all big-eyed! Any attack has to travel through the air to get to me, right?! I control the air, so you might as well hand 'em over and say, do whatever ya' want with 'em, Jin! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
Yusuke clenched his jaw as the crowd grew wild.
"What a crazy guy," Tsuki commented.
Kurama nodded in agreement. "The happy and looney type."
"Jin's got the win!" The audience repeated. "Jin's got the win!"
"We've been waiting too damn long for that boy to put in his place!"
"Rip off his ugly human head!"
"HAHAHAHA!" Jin eagerly waved to his loyal fans. "HEHEHEHE!"
Tsuki sighed and settled down on Kurama's left side, touching his arm. "The problem is that Jin can use the wind for excellent offense and defense against Yusuke."
"That's a powerful combination," Kurama stated.
"Yeah, the spirit gun is pretty much a waste of time." Kuwabara lifted his hands. "I'll stick with the old fist fight."
"But every time Yusuke gets close enough for a final punch, Jin flies away!" Botan retorted.
"That's true," Kuwabara agreed.
"So how in the flip is he supposed to hit him?!" Botan fumed.
"I don't know, Botan!" Kuwabara opened his palms defensively. "Don't yell at me!"
"It's frustrating," Tsuki stated. "Jin has the advantage in this match."
"There's one way to get past his defenses," the masked fighter enlightened. "Yusuke just needs to figure it out."
"Don't have to worry about Yusuke being afraid at least." Hiei's eyes focused on Jin's movements. "Risking his life is the only constant strategy he has."
"Been a blast playin' defender, but I think I'll get on with my attack." Jin whirled his arm. "Hmmmmm."
"Here we go!" Koto announced. "Jin's winding up for another smashing tornado fist, but this time he's doing it while still in midair!"
"Darn, Yusuke can't stop him this time," Tsuki wearily glanced up. "He's high in the sky."
"Hope you're thinking quick, Urameshi!" Jin flew, soaring and leaping through the ring. "Hehehehe!"
"Jin's on the move! He's heading straight for Yusuke!" Koto declared.
Yusuke made a scary face. "There's only one way to do this."
Confusion crossed Koto's features. "Huh?! And yet the spirit detective is refusing to back down! He's not even guarding himself! Has he gone berserk?!"
"Don't be stupid, Yusuke!" Keiko yelled. "I know you're about to do something insane!"
"What is he doing?" Kuwabara questioned.
"I don't know." Tsuki squeezed Kurama's arm tighter. "But be prepared."
Yusuke's eyes turned wild as he pointed.
"Hold on, Urameshi!" Jin's eyes bulged. "Don't be crazy!"
"Ah," Hiei began. "So if he fires his spirit gun point-blank into Jin's tornado."
"The energy will be caught into the wind current as it ignites, causing an explosion to surround them both," the masked fighter concluded.
"Let's see who can take a better ass kicking!" Yusuke fired his spirit gun.
The ground began to shake. A massive explosion flung Koto and Yusuke out of the ring.
Tsuki and Kurama's bodies pressed hard on the wall. Botan and Kuwabara toppled backward.
Hiei shook his head as Yusuke slammed into the wall next to the medical tent. "At least he tried."
"Tried almost got him killed," the masked fighter stated, brushing off the dirt from her shoulders.
"That was ludicrous!" Botan arose. Her blue hair disheveled, thanks to the blast. "I can't understand that boy sometimes!"
Kuwabara rubbed his head while he sat back up. "You could've warned us, Urameshi."
Koto slowly climbed back into the ring. "Oh, my people! Both fighters have been obliterated in the explosion!" She declared to the silent crowd. "Nothing is left of their bodies! Not even a pile of ashes!"
Relieved, Tsuki drew in a deep breath when Yusuke stood up. "At least he's not severely injured."
"He's one lucky fellow," Kurama stated.
"Wait! I stand corrected! Yusuke Urameshi has survived! Only Jin's been struck down!" Koto glanced to the left. "Huh?! Never mind again! Jin is alive and looking quite perturbed!"
Tsuki gazed up and frowned. Jin floated in the air with his mouth wide open.
"The hell was that, Urameshi?!" Jin stated, appalled. "I thought I was crazy, but you take the prize! Ya' don't make bombs go boom in your face!"
"Damn it!" Yusuke shook his fist in the air. "At least one of us should have died!"
"Die?!" Disbelief spread across Tsuki's face. "You're insane, Yusuke!"
"Why are you always so careless?!" Botan asked, but Yusuke merely shrugged.
Hiei brushed his pants and gazed at the spirit detective. "He's no amateur opponent."
"I'm not saying he is, but that was a clean shot!" Yusuke protested.
"Yes, but Jin saw your strategy at the last moment and took evasive action. Probably saving both of your lives," Hiei explained. "Rather than guarding himself, he tilted the airstream, sending most of the blast upward."
Yusuke clenched his jaw. "So he's funny and smart. That hardly seems fair."
"As a shinobi, he has a lot of experience," Hiei smirked devilishly. "A simple trick isn't going to beat him. I hope you have more extensive plans."
"Oh, come on." Yusuke's lips spread into a wide-toothy grin. "It's Yusuke here. I don't have a clue."
Tsuki slumped her shoulders. "At least he's positive about it."
Hiei's smirk faded. "You might not be so proud after you're defeated."
"Shut up, know-it-all." Yusuke rolled his shoulders. "Something always comes to me in the end."
"Well, yes. Even a fool has to admit a certain truth to that, Yusuke." Hiei's expression turned serious. "So go ahead and be as reckless as you want to. If you do get killed, I'll be taking your spot in the next fight anyway."
Tsuki hoped her friend had a better strategy. The team captain had to show authority in the match.
"Alright! Time to start the count!" Koto declared. "1, 2!"
"Please," Ruka scoffed and placed a hand on her hip. "Even if you could escape me. It's illegal to return after you're ruled unfit to fight."
"Illegal?" Hiei's dark aura rose as he glared at her. "Listen, witch. My powers have nearly returned, and I'm going to fight. Anyone who said otherwise. Well, I think you know the rest."
Ruka quivered, backing away from his deadly presence.
The masked fighter's eyes reflected the displeasure in her tone. "You truly have a way with women, Hiei."
"4, 5, 6, 7!"
Yusuke hopped back in. "Don't get too excited, Hiei. I'm taking on their leader as soon as I beat down Jin."
"After 7 counts, Yusuke returns to the ring!" Koto announced.
"Yusuke needs this point," Tsuki stated. "The round is going to be harder to win if he loses."
Kurama's lips pursed. "He's running out of options. I believe Jin is going to try to end this soon."
Jin grinned, ears wiggling. "Oh! Just as soon as ya' beat Jin ya' say? Better pitch yourself quick then. Last I remember, it was you runnin' around the floor tryin' to stay up."
Yusuke's eyes gleamed with excitement. "Yeah, but this time I thought I would try."
"Funny man, Urameshi. Then I'll try as well."
"Fight!" Koto demanded.
"Hmmmmm." Jin whirled both arms, creating two fists tornadoes. "Don't guess the finger-gun can handle two of these dallies at once."
Tsuki studied the situation with wide eyes. Yusuke stood, slacked-jawed while the harsh wind swept over them.
Kuwabara licked his lips while sweat dripped from his forehead. "This is super bad."
"Ooh, baby!" Koto twirled. "Two tornado fists buckle down at once! I think we got a challenge!"
Tsuki had a bad taste in her mouth. "There's no way he can deflect both of those."
"He's already having enough trouble with just one." Botan walked back and forth, unable to stand still.
"Yeah, we better hope that he's feeling creative," Kuwabara commented.
Yusuke struck a pose. With the steadiness of his gaze, he relaxed his stance.
"Wait!" Koto declared as Jin froze momentarily at his sudden movement. "Now, this is unexpected! Yusuke is taking a stance that I have never seen him take before!"
Kuwabara scratched his head. "Never seen Urameshi do that crazy stuff with his hands before."
"Me neither," Botan stated.
"Wait," Tsuki beamed as Yusuke's spiritual energy glowed. "He's going to do it."
"Do what?" Kurama inquired.
"Master Genkai's greatest specialty," Tsuki informed. She glanced at the masked fighter. "Do you think he's ready?"
The masked fighter had a tight, stern expression on her face. "He's never used it in full form. The move could definitely compete with Jin, but it could also destroy Yusuke's body from within."
"We just have to be patient," Kurama encouraged. "Yusuke certainly has a history of surprises."
"Let's play it!" Jin smiled widened. He spread his arms "Doesn't matter the ending, Urameshi. Fight we had was nice and I see ya' like myself. Two whirlwinds doesn't mean I hate ya', only means I have respect."
"Alright, Yusuke," the spirit detective stated to himself. "You have tried everything else. Time to be stupid."
"You might not be needed after all, Hiei," the masked fighter spoke positively. "It can be very effective if the strain doesn't kill him first."
"Hmph," Hiei responded. "I believe it when I see it."
"Oh, be careful." Botan crossed her arms, hugging herself tightly.
"It has to work," Tsuki remembered the times he had struggled to perfect this move. "You've progressed so much, Yusuke."
"Let's have some fun, Jin." Yusuke smiled as his spiritual energy rose.
"Love to!" Jin skyrocketed, flying towards Yusuke. "Tornado fist!"
"Yusuke," Keiko called. "You better win this!"
Yusuke grabbed Jin's hand. He grunted as Jin's force pushed him back.
"Wow," Tsuki gasped, hope racing through her. "He actually withheld his fist."
"Ah!" Jin caught his breath. "What are you doin' now, Yusuke?! Tornado in the hand, no one does!"
Yusuke's shirt ripped as he gritted his teeth. He brushed Jin's hand away, making the tornado fist disappear.
"Yusuke hammers Jin's right fist away, disabling his first attack!" Koto announced. "But there's still another tornado fist in his arsenal!"
Jin threw a cross. "Grrrr, it's goodbye!"
"Not so fast!" With one swift movement, Yusuke blocked Jin's attack with his leg.
"Yes!" Tsuki shouted.
"Blockin it again?!" Jin blinked rapidly while his second tornado disappeared.
Yusuke spun and slammed his knuckles deep into Jin's gut. "Spirit wave!"
"Wahhhhhh!" Jin ascended upwards like a missile flying into space.
"Spectacular!" Koto leaped and twirled her leg into the air. She landed gracefully, ending with a cute pose. "Sorry, guys! A punch party like that, a girl can't help but dance!"
The audience remained silent as Yusuke huffed and puffed.
Tsuki beamed. "You did it, Yusuke!"
"Did you know he could do that?" Botan asked Kuwabara.
"No way. He never tells me nothin. Think he likes surprising people."
"Like I said," Kurama stated, shrugging. "He's full of surprises."
"After that massive uppercut by Yusuke. Jin is yet to return from the sky! Could he be using his wind powers again?! Is this marathon still not over?!" Koto announced.
"What's wrong, Botan?" Tsuki asked as the grim reaper scanned the audience.
"Keiko and Shizuru are suddenly moving." Botan squinted her eyes. "I wonder where they're going?"
One demon pointed to the sky. "Hey! Look ou-AHHHHH!" Jin dropped, crashing hard through the surprised crowd.
Yusuke frantically looked around while the demons scattered everywhere. "Keiko!"
"Don't worry!" Botan informed. "Shizuru sensed it!"
"Look how much damage Yusuke did." Tsuki's eyes flickered with amazement. "The spirit wave is powerful."
"Unable to use his wind power to break his tremendous fall, Jin seems to be out cold!" Koto declared. "Let's begin the count! 1, 2!"
"Impressive," Hiei complimented. "I would like to fight this Genkai someday."
"Yusuke did well for his first try," the masked fighter informed. "Master Genkai believes Yusuke has much to learn. The true advantage of the spirit wave comes when it's shot point-blank through a punch and kick. At least he did that right."
"3, 4, 5, 6!"
The crowd booed and jeered.
"Get up, Jin! You're supposed to win!"
"Wind master my ass!"
"7!"
"Please, please, stay down," Tsuki urged as Jin struggled to get up.
"I hope so. I don't think Yusuke has enough energy to fight him again," Kurama included.
"8, 9!"
Jin slightly smiled when he finally straightened up. He stood exhausted to move. "Hold it right there, Urameshi! I'll be comin' in just a sec-ahhh…"
"10!" Koto counted as Jin thudded heavily on the seats. "And with a knockout by ring out, Team Urameshi takes their 4th win!"
"Right on, Urameshi!" Kuwabara cheered.
Yusuke sighed in relief and smiled. "Well, that was a damn good fight, Jin. Nice to know that I'm not the only freak around. Maybe we'll hang out if you ever wake up."
Botan's eyes sparkled as she clasped her hands. "And he's even made a friend."
Tsuki's face lit up. "He deserves it. Jin is a nice guy."
The audience hissed and growled.
"This is bullcrap! What lousy cheaters!"
"Team Mashōtsukai is pathetic! There's only one of them left!"
"And they started out 5 against 3!"
"I swear!" Botan sprinted, kicking the wall. "Can we have one easy moment of positivity around here?!"
"Not with them." Tsuki stared fiercely at the obnoxious audience. "They don't like us."
"This is fantastic! I can't wait for the next match!" Koto spun. "Urameshi Team and Team Mashōtsukai each have remaining members in condition to fight! By default, the winner of this match will advance to the semi-finals! Will the last member of Team Mashōtsukai enter the ring!"
"Final boss, here we go," Tsuki spoke with her eyes fixed on the demon leader.
"Urameshi can take him," Kuwabara stated confidently. "Let's see what this leader looks like."
The audience roared when Risho met Yusuke in the center.
"You better not ruin this like your buddies did!"
"Yeah! Give us a kill!"
The raven hair demon took off his cloak, draping it casually on his arms. His dark-ringed eyes stared menacingly as he chuckled. "Hehehehehehe, Sorry to say this, Urameshi. But you and your teammates are going to die without ever laying a finger on me."
"What?!" Yusuke snapped.
Tsuki couldn't ignore the knot in her stomach. "I'm not liking his remark or his evil laugh."
"Yeah," Kurama frowned. "Something is definitely not right."
"The final battle! Risho vs. Yusuke! Begin!" Koto commanded.
"Alright!" Yusuke charged at the leader. "I'm kicking your ass out of principle!"
The annoying bell blasted out of the speaker. "Stop this might immediately!" The announcer ordered, causing Yusuke to flop.
"Stop the fight?! What for?!" Botan demanded.
"The committee is up to something," Kurama stated.
Tsuki rolled her eyes. "As usual."
"Tournament committee, please clarify! Why did you interrupt this fight?!" Koto inquired.
"Ergh, yeah!" Yusuke shot up. "And more importantly, why did you make me look like a fool?!"
"Upon reviewing the film of the last two fights, it's been discovered that Koto delayed her ten counts significantly during Yusuke's first ring out, and Tsuki's last second in the ring!"
"What?!" Tsuki blurted out. "I could've sworn I stepped down when she said 10!"
Koto's ears perked down. "Since when do we pay attention to that?! They tell me to delay my count!"
Every voice fell silent. An uneasy ripple moved through the crowd as sudden confusion appeared on their faces.
"Therefore, by complete unanimous decision, the fights have been ruled a double loss for the Urameshi Team! Yusuke and Tsuki are unable to fight for the duration of this round!"
"Well, that's just the biggest crap job that I ever heard of in my life!" Botan drastically shouted.
"Damn them," memories of her grandfather filled Tsuki's mind. "I refuse to accept this."
Yusuke cursed under his breath. "How can this be over? I didn't even get to start. We're dead if we lose this match now."
Risho smiled evilly. "My condolences."
Tsuki gritted her teeth. His coldness irritated her nerves.
"What a douchebag," Kuwabara remarked. "He's really enjoying this."
Koto dropped the microphone. Shock appeared suddenly on her face.
"What are you waiting for, Koto?" Risho demanded. "Bestow our team with the victory."
Koto slowly picked up the microphone, staring hard at the upper section. "As an experienced officiator, and for the love of this tournament, I must object!"
"There'll be no further deliberations!" The lady announced.
"I can't die here." Tsuki grew testy. "My grandpa needs me."
"Believe me," Kurama assured. "We all feel the same way. My mother isn't going to lose her only son."
"Urameshi is off! Urameshi is off!" The audience chanted.
"Get on with it, foxy!"
Toya stumbled to Risho, clutching his stomach. "Risho, this deception has gone too far! Don't you see that it'll make a mockery of their sacrifices? Gama willfully gave up his life so we can win, not cheat our way out!"
"Huh," Risho's face grew shrewd. "Spare me your romantic drivel, Toya. Gama fought for the light. Now, we're going to enjoy it."
Yusuke gave him a dirty look. "You sure like to enjoy eating off of people's hard work."
"And being a bully!" Tsuki yelled.
"This isn't the ninja way!" Toya protested. "What about our honor?"
"Nonsense!" Rocks formed on Risho's arm. He backhanded Toya and growled.
"What a horrible leader," Tsuki stated as Toya flew out of the ring, fainting instantly.
"He's no real man," Kuwabara remarked. "He has no honor."
"We must always keep our eye on the final goal, Toya." Risho's rock disappeared as he folded his arms. "That's why I'm the leader, and you're the grunt."
Botan trembled lightly. "Oh dear, this is not looking good for us."
"I guess I should've known better." Tsuki's frown deepened. "Fighting clean isn't their style in the Dark Tournament."
"And now," Risho advanced, cold eyes glaring at Koto. "Do you really think it's wise to be on the human's side in this stadium, Koto? Keep the resistance, and I have a feeling you won't be officiating much longer."
"What?! But this is my show!" Koto whined.
Tsuki glared at the upper-class section. "But you're not pulling the strings."
"I doubt this is her show," Kurama stated. "She's only the officiator. Nothing else."
Yusuke intervened, stepping between Risho and Koto. "You know you seem really anxious to intimidate everyone but me. What do you think that means? Come on! Say something!"
Risho scoffed, delighted to have provoked him. "Your tough guy act isn't going to work here, especially when you'll be dead soon."
Tsuki shivered. A ripple of cold energy floated through the air. Goosebumps appeared on her skin as she stared at Hiei.
"Detective, don't waste your time trying to change their minds. Fight by their meaningless rules and you'll be pulled down with them." His eyes filled with insanity as his dark aura exploded. "There's only one real law of the Dark Tournament, the strongest man prevails!"
Ruka's electric cords snapped while Hiei's energy pushed her back. She dropped to the ground and covered herself. "I can't hold him off any longer! His energy is tearing my enchantress cords apart! A couple more minutes like this, and there won't be any of them left!"
Kurama sighed while Tsuki gulped. "I knew he was going to run out of patience. I'm surprised he held this calm demeanor for so long."
"I retrieved enough energy to rip my way out." Hiei smiled as his hand glowed dark flames. "Let's show this entire stadium a new definition for victory!"
"That sounds good to me. I'm already about to go off," Yusuke stated grudgingly. Tight veins formed around his arms and fists. "They're going to kill us anyway. So why don't we take on every damn freak until no one's left."
"No, we can't do that," Tsuki protested as the crowd watched in horror. "We need to be smart about this."
"Smart?" Hiei's voice rose, baring his teeth. "The committee doesn't care about our well-being. I refuse to be a puppet in this. It's time to burn this place to the ground."
"I know that!" Tsuki shot back. "But I don't care about the committee! I'm thinking about the safety of all of us!" She quickly scanned the audience. "Where are the girls?!"
"Don't know," Botan stated. "Last time I checked, they went to the exit."
"Oh," Koto's eyes became teary. "I absolutely hate to see such a good competitor go out of the game without inflicting pain on someone! But due to Yusuke and Tsuki's ineligibility, and as there are no other members available to fight, by forfeit, the winner of the round i-."
"Screw this!" Yusuke lunged, eyes blazing. "You're dead!"
"Wait!" Kuwabara spoke, causing Yusuke to halt. He immediately stood up. "We still got one more fighter on our team!"
"Huh?!" The demons yelled.
"What the hell is he talking about?!"
"Kuwabara," Tsuki let go of Kurama's arm, rising slowly. "Don't tell me what I think you're doing."
"That's right!" Kuwabara yelled, taking off his shirt. "Let's go!"
"Interesting," Kurama simply stated with a glint of skepticism in his eyes.
Tsuki's mouth dropped open. "Oh god."
"Pointless," Hiei scowled.
The masked fighter sighed heavily, shaking her head.
Yusuke palmed his forehead. "You're kidding me!"
"As the team trainer, I must say this is a ridiculous idea!" Botan protested. "The boy can't even walk without doubling over!"
"Botan!" A security guard announced from the waiting area. "You're needed outside by Keiko and Shizuru!"
"Darn it!" Botan fumed. "What are those sneaky girls up to?!"
"At least they're far away from this," Tsuki stated. "Please make sure they're alright."
"Ok," Botan squeezed Tsuki's shoulder before scurrying away. "PLEASE, put some sense into that boy!"
Tsuki nodded and looked at her dear friend. "Kuwabara, I'm not done healing you. Don't kill yourself over this pointless mess."
"She's right," Kurama stated in a perfectly reasonable voice. "It's unwise to fight when your spiritual energy is too low."
"I can handle this, you guys!" Kuwabara argued. "Remember the lady from the medical tent took Hiei and the masked fighter off and said that I was okay!"
"Stupid!" Yusuke yelled. "Cuz she's not a nurse!"
"Ergh, don't confuse the issue! The point here is that I'm still eligible to fight, and I'm the only one!"
"Yes, but eligible and able are two different words," Hiei informed with a penetrating stare.
"You shut up, shrimp!" Kuwabara snapped. His bone cracked as he tightly gripped his side.
Tsuki reached for his back, but her head started pounding. She touched her forehead and grimaced. Her spiritual energy needed to regenerate too.
Yusuke jumped out of the ring, stomping towards Kuwabara. "See?! You're in no shape!"
"I'm going, Urameshi. Unless you want to kill me yourself." Kuwabara shot a hard look at Yusuke. "I know these guys are cheating us. I know you're angry, and heck, I know what happens if we lose. But if you and Hiei go on some tirade destroying people to get your way, you'll be just like them. Let's win this thing clean like-"
"Like men," Yusuke concluded while Kuwabara and Tsuki smiled.
"How touching," Hiei stated sarcastically.
"Bite my ankle, shorty! I swear I'll make you cry to your mom!" Kuwabara seethed, squinting his eyes. "If you have a mom that is."
"What an interesting duo." Kurama chuckled. "I swear one day they could be brothers-in-law."
"What a fantastic will!" Koto's eyes lit up as Kuwabara desperately climbed to the ring. "The vividly hammered fighter has prevented his team's elimination! But can this haggard boy possibly hope to compete against Team Mashōtsukai's leader?!"
Tsuki's body tense, her eyes swimming with fear and dread. "I'm against this, but what choice do we have? His mind is made up."
Yusuke gritted his teeth. "As the captain, it should be me out there. Not him."
"Alright, people. Let's not delay this slaughter-fest any longer! Fighters, please report to the center!" Koto announced.
Tsuki cringed when Kuwabara swaggered like a drunkie. She instantly felt sick about this fight.
"He's killing himself," Yusuke stated, turning pale after his body tensed.
"It's dismissal." Kurama shook his head regretfully. "But at least it'll buy us some time to consider our options."
Risho grinned wickedly. "Your heroics are quite misplaced. All you'll win is a grave."
"Just keep talking, cheater," Kuwabara huffed. "I'll just make it tougher on ya!"
"Look at that glow in his eyes! Kuwabara is ready for more!" Koto declared. "It feels delightful, doesn't it?!"
Kuwabara kneeled in agony while he clutched his side.
Tsuki's lips quivered. There was a lump in her throat and pain in her chest. "Oh god, I should've stayed in the ring. Or just solely focused on healing his ribs."
"You did the best that you could, Tsuki," Kurama reassured in a calm voice. "Even if you did fully heal him, his spirit energy would've still been low."
"You don't like it?" Koto nervously chuckled as Kuwabara stood. "Hahaha...this is going to be a short one."
Risho barked a laugh. "Yes, it's just a waste of time."
"Your ugly face is a waste of time!" Kuwabara stated, smirking at his comeback.
"Come on!" Yusuke paced back and forth. "Just hold on, Kuwabara! Maybe we could beat up that stupid committee or something!"
Kuwabara met Risho's commanding stare with determination. "Real men go down with honor. I refuse to let this jackass win."
"Why don't you avoid embarrassment?" Risho suggested. "I'm happy to accept your surrender."
"I don't get the spotlight very often. And I ain't going to mess this up!" Kuwabara retorted.
"Now, boys! Enough of the witty banter! Let's get on this fight that decides the round and advancement to the semi-finals!" Koto declared.
The disorderly demons yelled viciously.
"Only one fighter left from each side! Now that's the demon's way to go!"
"Punch at his kidney!"
"Give us some blood, Risho! Give us some blood!"
"Final fight and for the win, Kuwabara vs. Risho!" Koto gave the signal. "Begin!"
"We must think," Kurama pressed. "There must be some other way we can prevent this disaster."
"I-I don't know," Yusuke confessed.
"I don't know either," Tsuki admitted. "We're in a tough situation."
"You can go first," Risho urged. "I assure you, you won't lay a scratch on me."
"Why don't you shut your big trap, Risho!" Kuwabara charged. "Spirit sword!"
"Despite his injuries, Kuwabara is making the first move!" Koto declared.
Before Kuwabara could strike, his sword vanished from his hand.
Risho leaped and appeared behind Kuwabara, swiftly kicking him in the back.
Tsuki cringed when Kuwabara tumbled to the ground.
"And Risho pops in with a tremendous counterattack, adding injury to injury! The advantage here is obvious!" Koto announced.
"Damn it!" Yusuke threw his head back. "The dufus can't even make his sword!"
"This is bad," Kurama stated cautiously. "Embrace the brutality that's coming."
Tsuki took a deep breath, ready for the pain Risho was going to inflict on her friend.
Kuwabara observed his shaky hand. "Something's really wrong here. I had energy. Why can't I make my-augh!"
"What a weakling." Risho chuckled darkly, throwing multiple punches at him. "I'll just toy with your idiotic fantasy."
A growl of frustration rumbled from Hiei's throat. "This is absurd. The fool can't even scratch him."
"Patience," the masked fighter stated. "All we need is patience right now."
"Kuwabara continues to be thrashed by Team Mashōtsukai's leader!" Koto announced. "Hey, Kuwabara! Tell me how it feels! Makes you want to shout in joy doesn't it?!"
Yusuke and Tsuki gave the annoying fox girl a dirty look. It was obvious Kuwabara was suffering.
Again and again, Risho hurled harder punches. Blood dripped from Kuwabara's face as Risho continued to uppercut and hook him.
"Don't just let this creep rail on you!" Yusuke gestured his arm wildly. "Show some fricken balls!"
"We all know he's proven enough," Kurama stated. "It's a miracle that he's even standing."
Tsuki flinched when Ruka screamed. Her eyes swiveled to the tent and gasped. The devil has risen.
"Why in the hell did I take this job?!" Ruka shrilled. "This...this...evil little man is going to kill me! His body is exploding with dark energy!"
Tsuki's gut twisted. Hiei's dark stare became riveting and frightening. The table and chairs tossed and turned as his energy spread around the tent.
The masked fighter sighed. "You're going to make your move at the first sign of Kuwabara's false, aren't you?"
Hiei's lips formed a firm, unyielding line. "If you have any noble plans to stop me, I suggest you write your will. I'm not leaving without war."
"Let's just see what happens first," the masked fighter quickly replied.
Tsuki prayed. "Please, let us make it out of here alive." Her desperate eyes fixed to the ring as Kuwabara tried to unleash his sword again.
"Why can't I use my spirit sword anymore?!" Kuwabara yelled in frustration.
Risho leaped. "Hahahaha! The naive tale of youth. I thought you would have figured it out by now." He pounded Kuwabara with raw force. "Do you really think a normal human could have sustained the injuries you have? Your body has been using your spiritual energy to keep you alive. And now you have nothing left."
With another ankle kick, Kuwabara staggered back, feet scraping and scrabbling onto the stony ground as he fell.
"I'm going to take the count now! So everyone, please make sure to tell me if I'm doing it wrong, okay?!" Koto announced. "1, 2, 3, 4, 5!"
"Grrr, this is crazy!" Yusuke kicked the stadium's wall as Kuwabara slowly arose. "Why is he getting up?!"
"He's keeping us alive right now," Tsuki stated, panic floating through her helplessness. "If he loses, it's going to be total chaos."
"6, 7, 8, 9!"
Kuwabara fumbled towards the scowling Risho.
"Kuwabara stealths up again! I think he's setting some kind of record of sheer willpower!" Koto declared.
"I have no more time to nurse your heroics." Risho appeared in front of Kuwabara, kicking him in the face. "I got a prize to take."
"You're taking our prize, Risho." Kuwabara wiped the blood from his nose as he panted harder. "A real man earns what he wants."
Risho snarled and landed outside the ring. "Fine, Kuwabara! You'll see I'm quite capable of that!"
"Risho willfully stepped out of the ring! What could he be planning?!" Koto inquired.
Tsuki's heart sank as she narrowed her eyes. "I'm not liking this."
"Me either," Yusuke stated dryly.
Risho created a hand signal while his spiritual energy rose. "Each shinobi is a master of some skilled art! Weren't you wondering what mine would be?!"
Kuwabara trembled. "No, not really."
Tsuki steady herself as the ground rumbled.
Yusuke stumbled but caught himself. "What's going on?!"
"It's an earthquake," Kurama explained. "From Risho's energy."
"Watch out for fallen debris! From outside the ring, Risho is wrapping rocks and soil around his body!" Koto declared.
Risho's eyes blazed wildly as his armor grew heavy. "I'm the master of earth and it makes for excellent armor! In addition to protection, it turns my whole body into a deadly weapon."
"Such power." Tsuki smacked her lips. "Kuwabara needs his spiritual energy."
Hiei's nose flared. "Let's see if the fool can handle his armor."
"Let me show you how." Risho bounced, curling into a ball. He crashed into the ring like a cannonball.
"Nooooo!" Yusuke screamed. Blood spurted out Kuwabara's mouth as he flew back.
"Kuwabara!" Tsuki yelled.
"I've seen fallen balls crash into a styrofoam with less force than Kuwabara just showed in the ring!" Koto announced when Kuwabara landed hard on his belly. "Risho looks to be unarmed and back on his feet. And Kuwabara is definitely not. Is this the end of the Urameshi Team?! Let's start the count! 1, 2, 3, 4!"
"He's in pain!" Tsuki cried. "My friend is dying out there and I can't do anything about it!"
A cold, furious expression appeared on Yusuke's face while Kuwabara staggered to his feet.
"5, 6, 7! Wow, people! We still have a fight on our hands!" Koto declared. "Despite his delightful injuries, Kuwabara isn't done! His whole body is doing the wiggle dance!"
"Interesting," Hiei stated. "The fool is actually getting up."
"I'm surprised he's still conscious," the masked fighter included. "What a strong will fighter."
"Why!?" Risho demanded, eyes bulging. "Why don't you quit?!"
Kuwabara stopped panting. "You dummy." He laughed. "Guess you haven't checked the score for this round lately. We got four wins, and you got two. And the first team to five advances. I still have a way to bring it home for my team."
Tsuki froze as the demons' angry voices and threats all aimed at Kuwabara.
"He's going to kill himself," Hiei predicted.
"I know what you're doing." Risho flashed a cynical, knowing look. "Using your life energy will only delay this. You're still going to die.
"No joke, moron. That's the whole point of this fight." Kuwabara wiped his face as he grinned sheepishly. "As long as I take you with me."
"What?!" Risho's eyebrow twitched.
"If this fight ends in a draw, my team wins. And the rest of my guys get to live," Kuwabara explained.
"Kuwabara," Tsuki's voice became shaky. "What are you saying?"
Kuwabara glanced at her. "Tsuki, thank you for healing me. You're such a sweet person."
"No." Tsuki fought back her tears as her anxiety rose.
Kuwabara glanced lovely at his teammates. "Hiei, you little punk, you always say mean stuff to me. But I know underneath all that junk, you're a good guy. Kurama, you taught me a lot with the things you said. There's nobody more caring than you. Mummy fighter...person, you saved those guys from Dr. Ichigaki, and that means a lot. You didn't say much, but somehow I really feel like I know you."
Yusuke stepped forward. "Kuwabara," his voice hardened.
"And Urameshi." Kuwabara's eyes glistened as he stared at the spirit detective. "Just take care of the rest of the team, okay?"
"Don't you do this!" Yusuke cried.
"Kuwabara, please!" Tsuki begged, tears streaming down her cheeks. "You don't have to waste your life for this crappy tournament!"
"Let's not get too upset, guys. I want to keep my finish nice and manly." Kuwabara winked, but the weakness in his voice scared Tsuki further. "You ready, Risho?"
"Tsk," Risho leaped for another meteorite attack. "Sorry, boy! But dying is not part of my plan!"
"It looks like this intense battle is about to end in the most exciting of ways!" Koto announced.
"He's making a huge gamble," Kurama stated in a quieter voice. "Risho's earth defense is top-notch. There's no guarantee that Kuwabara could tie this."
"This is awful," Tsuki resisted the surge of anger, biting back the desire to yell at her friend. "Damn his stubbornness!"
"Say hello to extinction!" Risho declared.
"That's fine by me!" Kuwabara hobbled a little and dashed. "Ahhhhh!"
"Kuwabara!" Yusuke yelled as he gripped Risho's body.
Risho's pushed him out of the ring. They were close to making a collision with the stadium's wall.
A cold chill ran up Tsuki's spine. The heat of anger vanished, replaced by fear. She dared not look away.
"Kazuma!" A sweet voice yelled. "Please be alright!"
The sound of the angel's voice brought relief to Tsuki's body and mind. She glanced above and smiled brightly. Yukina was here with the girls.
"That's weird," Kuwabara blinked and gazed around. "I just thought I hear-hey, wait! My princess is here!"
Risho scowled at his sudden demeanor. "What on earth are you babbling about?"
"I'm not babbling!" Kuwabara quickly swatted him away like a fly. "She's my girlfriend!"
"When did that sudden strength come from?" Yusuke asked as Risho flew.
"The power of love," Tsuki explained happily.
"What a comeback by Kuwabara!" Koto announced when Risho crashed into the stadium's wall.
Kurama smiled, eyeing the medical tent. "Even Hiei calmed down."
"Yukina," Hiei's dark aura disappeared. His widened eyes gazed at his sister. "She's really here."
Kuwabara sprinted. "There's only one person who calls me by my first name!" His eyes crinkled as he cheesily grinned. "Yukina!"
"We've been very worried, Kazuma." Yukina touched her heart while the rest of the girls smiled. "Are you alright?"
Kuwabara flexed his muscles. "Hahahaha! Of course, princess! I was waiting for you to arrive!"
"I'm never going to understand that bastard." Yusuke's head slumped.
"Me neither." Tsuki's eyes glistened. "But he's alive and happy."
"Well, it appears a lady friend of Kuwabara's comes to witness the brutalities! They seem to be engaged in a small talk right now!" Koto declared.
Kuwabara's spiritual energy rose while he showed off his biceps. "Do I look muscley, my love?"
"This is ridiculous!" Risho bellowed in rage, rising to his feet. His armor grew large and thick. "Armor of clay!"
"Look out, people! Risho just put more rocks on top of his first clay of armor!" Koto announced as Risho lunged at Kuwabara.
"Hey, my spirit energy is coming back!" Kuwabara pronounced. "I think we all know what this means! Spirit sword!"
Tsuki beamed as his sword appeared in his hand.
Yusuke managed a smile. "The dufus has a chance."
"This time, my armor will eat your sword!" Risho proclaimed viciously.
"They're both out of the ring, so I'll start the count!" Koto announced. "1, 2!"
"Eat my energy!" Kuwabara fiercely sliced him.
"What?!" Risho's armor instantly shattered. "This can't be!"
"Alright!" Yusuke pumped his fist in the air.
Tsuki ignored her headache and jumped. "Amazing!"
"You're just a no-good cheater, Risho!" Kuwabara swung his sword like a baseball, hitting him powerfully in the stomach. His eyes gleamed with triumph. "So get out of my ring!"
"Ahhhh!" Risho flew high, crashing hard in the upper section of the audience.
"5, 6, 7!"
Kuwabara scrambled to the ring, huffing as he stood up.
"8, 9, 10! Kuwabara is the winner!" Koto announced excitedly. "The Urameshi Team advances to the semi-finals!"
"Nice, Kuwabara!" Tsuki willed on.
"Woo hoo!" Shizuru whooped in admiration. "That's my bro!"
"That was wonderful, Kazuma!" Yukina cheered.
Ruka dropped to her knees as her force field disappeared. Hiei and the masked fighter glared but strolled past her.
Yusuke and Tsuki sprinted to Kuwabara
"Not too bad." Yusuke patted him on the back. "I'm proud of ya, dufus."
"Hey! Don't sneak up on me, okay!" Kuwabara's legs wobbled, falling forward. "I think I'm going to take a little nappy now."
Tsuki lightly giggled as he collapsed. At least she didn't worry about healing prince charming today.
Absent of any other distractions, Tsuki took a deep breath and smiled. The sweet-smelling trees filled her nose as she watched the magnificent waterfall cascade down into the massive lake.
Tsuki gazed around, speechless. The sun passed its high point. Rays of sunlight sparkled and danced on the crystal clear surface. Kurama and her found it yesterday when they scavenged for herbs. Tsuki made sure to come back when the timing was right.
She took off her tracksuit, revealing a white swimsuit that showed off her lithe figure. Loosening up her hair, Tsuki took a deep breath and dove into the warm lake.
She came up a minute later smiling. Tsuki gasped in a few breaths before swimming towards the waterfall. She let the cool water cascade her scalp and face. Breathing slowly, her muscles relaxed.
I'm going to be okay. I had been resilient then, and I would be resilient now.
Tsuki floated, gazing above the evening sky. Her tears came without warning. It wasn't the best day she had ever had, but it was a long way from being the worst either. By the grace of the gods, everyone survived.
She inhaled...and...exhaled, spreading her aura into the water. The purity of the liquid cleansed her soul. Her scratches and scrapes slowly disappeared. The intense emotions finally released from her mind.
Tsuki squeezed her wet hair and stepped out. After drying, she wrapped the towel around her waist. She soaked the final heat of the sun, feet dipping in and out of the water. Just five more minutes, and then she'll head back.
Her eyes flew open. Tsuki rose, aiming her divine bells at the trees. Somewhere in the shadows, someone was watching.
"You have five seconds to leave before I shoot my arrow at your head!" Tsuki warned.
Within a blink of an eye, Hiei appeared in front of her, smiling. His tone made her shiver. "Why so violent? It's only me."
I swear, he always catches me off guard. Tsuki's heart raced as his gaze lowered to her swimsuit. She forgot to breathe for a second. "Yes, Hiei?"
Hiei's eyes gleamed with amusement. He proceeded closer, showing her his freshly crisp arm.
"What happened?" Tsuki's eyes widened as she gasped. "I thought Ruka healed it?"
"The witch did. But I still don't have control over the dark dragon." He clenched his fist and scowled. "It's being very stubborn."
"You survived calling it again?"
"Yes, but I have to be in peak condition to fully call it," Hiei explained. "And my Jagan eye needs to figure out a way to tame the beast before it completely devours me."
"I believe in you. The dragon may be stubborn, but you're the first one that successfully called it and survived. Plus, the way you can withstand pain is phenomenal." Tsuki sighed as Hiei stared at her in mute silence. "Sometimes, I wish I can tune my feelings out. Maybe I wouldn't be so overwhelmed right now."
"It sucks, but hardships give us many opportunities to grow stronger. You're brave for being here."
Tsuki lowered her gaze. "You say I'm brave, but fear keeps crawling in my skin every time I step forward. The pain, the uncertainty, it can be unsettling to bear."
"Being brave doesn't mean you're absent from your fear or pain. It takes courage to be vulnerable and press on into the unknown."
Tsuki stood in stunned silence. It took her a second to respond. "You're very wise."
Hiei shrugged, which only made his biceps and triceps more defined. "Wisdom comes from living a long time." His smile warmed his eyes. "Besides, your name suits you well."
"My name?"
"It means moon, right? The moon glows in the dark, always sharing its light. Sometimes you can't see it, but it's out there transforming and growing until it's time to become full again. You're just going through a phase."
Tsuki gazed at him with her sweetest, most charming expression. "When I was a kid, my mom always called me her little moon. I miss her so much. She always felt safe and comfortable when she stared at it. Especially when she went on missions."
"You think about her a lot?"
"All the time, but I know she's out there watching my grandpa and me. Are you happy that Yukina is here?"
"I have mixed feelings about it," Hiei confessed. "She shouldn't be here or even near me. You've seen what I was going to do in that stadium."
"Hiei, if Yukina didn't appear, it would've been chaos in that stadium. Kuwabara would've died. Yusuke, you, and hell, probably me would've gone berserk. You even heard her. She came here to look for her brother. Just like us, fate has brought her here for a reason."
Something flickered in Hiei's face. Tsuki couldn't quite read the hidden expression. She concentrated, focusing hard on the strange pain.
Tsuki's heart ached, finally sensing how much he cared for his sister and how regretful he was by his actions. She hesitated, contemplating the right words. "It's not my position to tell you how to interact with Yukina. But I hope someday you're willing to build a relationship with her. You deserve a sweet sister that'll be truly there for you." Tsuki stared at his arm. Her hand reached, but stopped midway. She looked straight in his eye. "May I?"
Hiei nodded. In perfect unison, they sat down, facing the smooth water.
Tsuki beamed, now surrounded by the woodsy scent of him. "Thank you for trusting me."
Hiei scooted closer. The intensity in his stare scorched her skin. "You earned it."
They lapsed into silence as Tsuki's fingers brushed his arm. The touch created an extraordinary rush of emotion that was so powerful, Tsuki caught her breath.
Hiei's body tensed for a moment but relaxed after her hand glowed.
A sob of relief escaped Tsuki's lips, glad he came to her quickly. This injury was nothing compared to his last wound. She continued to apply pressure, making sure to start with the blisters.
Hiei studied her for a long time, masking any emotion. When he drew a deep breath, Tsuki lifted her head and gazed into his smooth features.
Tsuki's heart fluttered. Before this moment, she never allowed herself to admire how striking Hiei was. Her eyes flicked down to his perfectly leaned body defined by years of intense training. She melted when he carried her away from the robot.
The priestess's eyes roamed his handsome face. She deemed him unique. His flaming eyes were by far his most captivating feature. They were hypnotizing. It felt like he was staring into her soul.
Tsuki glanced at his forehead. His Jagan blinked and gazed at her. She blushed heavily, darting back to his arm. Probably reading her mind right now.
Hiei remained quiet, but his mouth twisted into a half-smile.
After his skin became smooth, Tsuki massaged his arm. She deep stroked his muscles that were tight and tensed. Her body burned when a deep rumble escaped his mouth.
Once her fingertips finished applying pressure alongside his skin, Tsuki dropped her hands, avoiding his hard stare. "Ok, that should do it." Before she could get up, Hiei grabbed her wrist.
Warm energy crept across Tsuki's skin. "W-what are you doing?" His grip on her was surprisingly gentle.
"Every time we're alone, your heart beats more than usual." Hiei's voice dropped low. "Why, Tsuki?"
"I-I-I don't know," Tsuki confessed. Her nervousness flared. "I-I'm still trying to figure it out."
Hiei leaned closer. His mouth so incredibly close to hers. "You're a smart girl. I'm sure you'll figure it out soon."
Tsuki's heart burst right open. She leaned back and squirmed. "I-I-I-I-I have to go!"
Hiei released his grip as she stood up. "Are you sure you're fine walking by yourself?" He observed her while she swiftly put on her tracksuit.
After throwing on her boots, the flustered priestess stared at him. "I'm not alone. Nature is with me." She paused before continuing. "Are you coming back?"
"Later, I still have some more training to do. The committee held me back." Hiei's jaws tightened. His eyes flashed a warning. "Now they'll have to pay. The next round, I'm surely fighting."
Tsuki smiled and grabbed the towel. "Ok, be safe." She turned away.
"Tsuki," she liked the way he said her name-low and sweet, especially at this very moment.
Tsuki halted, locking eyes with him. "Yes?"
Hiei smiled and lifted his arm. "Thank you." He vanished into the shadows.
No problem, Hiei. I'm glad I can help. Tsuki walked silently, allowing the sun to guide her path.
Her heart was still beating. Her skin was still warm from his touch. She tried to think of something else, but her mind always drifted back to him.
"I'm sure you'll figure it out soon."
Tsuki blushed heavily, touching her lips. Her body responded with a surge of desire. She wondered how Hiei's mouth would feel against hers. Only he could satisfy the extreme passion that roamed deep inside of her.
The priestess walked faster, dismissing her temptation. She prayed that her romantic thoughts would disappear. She had to get ready for the semi-finals.
"Oh, Tsuki!" A familiar voice sang. "I'm glad I spotted you!"
"Hey, Botan." Tsuki greeted as the grim reaper eagerly approached her.
Botan beamed. "Well, you look refreshed and cheerful. How was your swim?"
"Thanks, Botan." Tsuki smiled with pleasure. "It was fulfilling. What's up?"
Botan clapped her hands. "Good news! Lord Koenma wants to see you!"
"Why does he need to see me?"
"He has something for you. I'll explain it to you once we find Yusuke." Botan scanned the forest. "Now, I know I spotted him going this way. He and Keiko were squabbling in the hotel room. They're releasing the tension that's been building for the past couple of weeks."
Tsuki chuckled. "I'm just glad they're finally talking. Even if they're arguing. We should give them space."
"Nonsense!" Botan grabbed Tsuki's hand, tugging her deep into the forest. "And miss out on the juicy quarrel? You humans' love lives are so entertaining! It's better than my soap shows!"
"I never knew you could be this way, Botan." A sudden realization spread across Tsuki's face. "Remind me not to tell you about my crush."
"Oh," Botan mused. She offered her the puppy dog eyes. "Do you like someone, Tsuki?"
"W-well, I-I-" Tsuki looked away, cheeks becoming hot. "No."
"Hmmm. Stuttering, blushing, and avoiding eye contact." Botan pondered a few seconds and then smiled. "Someone is on your mind. I wonder who it could be? Maybe someone from our team?"
Before Tsuki could falsely deny her allegation, they heard the lovers' voices. The girls crept and hid in the bushes.
"Look," Yusuke began. "All I'm saying is that you could've at least dropped by our room or something. It's not like we're on a stupid field trip with chaperons."
"Maybe I didn't want to interrupt," Keiko retorted. Her back behind Yusuke. "You seemed to be having plenty of fun with those demons."
"What?" Yusuke moved closer. "Since when does Keiko want me to do what I feel like?"
Keiko's lips pursed as she swung around. "Since when does Yusuke care what Keiko has to say?!"
Tsuki frowned. "Here we go again."
"This is so exciting," Botan stated. "We're getting to the good part."
"Hey!" Yusuke folded his arms. "Why don't you just try not to get pissy with me?"
"Why can't you have the guts to tell me about these things?!" Keiko fumed. "So I don't have to drag it out of the girls?!"
"Party pooper!"
"Crybaby!"
"Very mature, guys," Tsuki muttered while they turned their back against each other.
"Aw, young love," Botan cooed. "So naive and immature."
Yusuke's face softened. "Look, we both have been doing some growing up since we last saw each other." He kneeled and poked her butt. "For instance. Is it just these pants, or did you really get a nice ass?"
Keiko shrieked. "Yusuke, you jerk!" She slapped him twice in the face.
Botan touched her forehead, shaking her head as Yusuke fell backward. "Bad move by Yusuke."
Tsuki rolled her eyes while blushing heavily. "A very perverted move."
"You haven't grown that much!" Keiko huffed. "Even if you did get hotter!"
Yusuke held his face as he sat up, blood dripping from his nose. "Don't worry about me. I'm alright. Altogether, I say it was worth it." He wiggled his eyebrows. "I love when you're aggressive."
"Oh, shut up." Keiko's face turned crimson. "You're still a jerk."
"I think they're finally calming down." Tsuki smiled.
"Let's see how this exciting battle will resolve," Botan stated.
"You know, Yusuke. I was impressed with that move you pulled." Keiko pointed her index finger and winked. "I know you need to fight, but if you die. I swear I'll kill you. Bang."
Yusuke smiled and gave her a thumbs up. "Deal."
"I'll see you back." Keiko waved, heading in the direction of the hotel.
"Aww, no kiss or hug?" Botan whined. "Where's the passion? The affection?"
"It was still cute," Tsuki stated, honestly relieved that they didn't. Though she seen them kiss before, their intimacy was a private matter.
Yusuke brushed his face. "I swear, Keiko. I won't get beat. Though she should fight for our team." He glared at the bush. "Hey! Don't think I didn't hear noises coming from that bush! If you want huggy and kissy stuff, go home and watch your soaps!"
"Meow!" Botan popped out and pawed like a kitty.
Yusuke's eyes twitched. "Have any idea what curiosity does for cats, Botan?"
Tsuki came out, rubbing the back of her head. "Hey, Yusuke."
"We have absolutely no clue we find you here," Botan stated innocently.
"Right, right. You guys were just looking for a place to hang out." Yusuke gave an unrelenting stare. "I'm surprised you're with her, Tsuki."
"Botan dragged me here. She said Koenma has something for us."
"Yes! You are about to have a hatched egg, Yusuke. And Tsuki, your egg is about to crack soon."
"A hatched egg?" Tsuki tilted her head.
"Ever since you met Koenma," Botan explained. "He's been keeping an eye on your spiritual beast. Since he met Yusuke first, his egg is going to hatch today."
"My own spiritual beast?" Tsuki's eyes lit up. "That's so cool."
"What are you talking about?" Yusuke blinked, scratching his head. "Since when did you start raising spiritual beasts?"
"Oh my goodness!" Botan threw her hands up. "Don't tell me you have forgotten about it again?!"
Yusuke shrugged and raised his hands. "Okay, I won't."
"Lord Koenma just finished telling you about this earlier! Do you REALLY need a recap twice a day to remind you of what's going on?!"
Tsuki just shook her head. Her friend can be forgetful.
"Oh yeah." Yusuke laughed. "I remembered pacifier breath saying something like that."
"Watch what you say, Yusuke," Botan warned. "Koenma should be arriving any minute with the eggs."
Koenma suddenly appeared, holding two large eggs. "Arriving where? I can't be in two places at once!"
Yusuke, Botan, and Tsuki shrieked from the surprise. They landed on each other as they fell backward.
"Hey, Koenma." Tsuki rose, admiring his new appearance as a teenage boy. "Long time no see. You've grown a lot since I last saw you."
"Hey, Tsuki," Koenma greeted. "Yes, it's been a while."
"Damn it! Don't do that!" Yusuke scowled. "We're still not used to you being at a high level."
Koenma sucked his pacifier. "And this pacifier breath is still not used to you getting dumber everything single time he sees you."
Yusuke gritted his teeth and stared at the golden egg. "Hold on. Are you sure that's the egg I had last time?"
"Yes, it's grown quite a bit over the months. It's ready to pop." Koenma handed Yusuke and Tsuki their eggs.
Tsuki instantly felt the warmth of the white egg. She rubbed the smooth edges and smiled.
"So how do we know the monster in here is going to be friendly?" Yusuke asked.
"We don't know anything. Not until it opens," Koenma explained. "From the moment we first met, your spirit beast has been feeding off the energy of your soul. Everything you have done good or bad since that day has shaped the nature of that beast."
Interesting, Tsuki had nothing to fear. She was far from being perfect, but she knew deep down her soul wasn't corrupted.
"And what if I haven't always been completely nice?" Yusuke questioned Koenma.
"It's the overall picture. The beast will reflect who you really are inside. Not that bad boy persona you put on to be cool. And if your true heart has been selfish, so will be the beast."
"So if the beast devours me," Yusuke said. "I'll be a ghost again."
"No, Yusuke." Koenma's tone turned serious. "When the spirit beast consumes you, it takes the body and soul. You won't be a ghost, and you won't go to Spirit World. You'll be absolutely nothing at all."
"Well, we shouldn't worry about Tsuki," Botan stated. "Yusuke on the other hand."
"Yusuke is fine," Tsuki assured. "Yes, he has his bad tendencies. But deep down inside, he's a good person."
"Aw shucks, Tsuki." Yusuke fake sniffled while he nudged her. "You're going to make me cry."
Tsuki giggled and stuck out her tongue. She glanced up when she heard a sharp, clank sound.
A dark cloud formed, casting a shadow above them. Thunder rattled and struck the egg, cracking it open. Tsuki covered her face as a source of light burst out.
After the cloud disappeared, Yusuke gazed at the empty cracked shell. "Where's the beast?"
"It's not here," Koenma stated as everyone looked around.
"It could be anywhere." Botan's head moved left to right. "Do you think it ran away?"
Tsuki gasped and pointed at Yusuke's head. "Look!"
Koenma's mouth dropped while Botan smothered her laughter.
An adorable bluebird beast flapped his ears as he flew. "Puu!" He called himself, landing back on his master's head.
Tsuki's eyes twinkled. "He's so cute!"
"Pfft, HAHAHAHAHA!" Botan pointed and laughed. "Oh look, Koenma! It's Yusuke's inner self!"
"HAHAHAHAHA!" Koenma howled. "What a scary beast! HAHAHAHAHA!"
Yusuke growled at them as Tsuki joined in their laughter.
Koenma dramatically raised his hands. "Oh no, I'm so terribly frightened! Please don't hurt me, Mr. Monster!"
"I have to admit, Yusuke." Tsuki suppressed another giggle. "I wasn't expecting this at all."
"Me neither!" Botan agreed. "When I picture Yusuke's disposition, I see scales and mini eyes, but cute and furry is another way to go! Hahahaha-OWW!" She glared at him after he hit her in the head. "You jerk! Just because your egg hatched, doesn't mean you get to be punk again!"
"Yeah," Tsuki agreed. "Not cool."
"Whatever! These hands are for everybody!" Yusuke barked, walking away from them. "It can't be that bad the way ya'll dumbassess think!"
"Puu!"
"Well, then," Botan with her mischievous eyes, followed behind him. "Let's find out. I'm sure everyone will love to see Puu."
"It's time to head back anyway," Koenma stated. "I'm ready for my dinner. It's sushi, tempura, and sashimi tonight."
Tsuki's mouth watered. "That sounds delicious. We're probably going to eat that tonight. Thank you for the egg, Koenma."
"No problem." Koenma straightened his scarf. "You're blessed and highly favored by the gods, Tsuki. Even Yusuke received their blessings. I honestly don't know why for the dummy, but I guess everyone has a role in life."
Tsuki peered up at three sparrowhawks floating not far above them. They circled, flapping their large wings. Thank you, universe.
"Hey, guys!" Kuwabara shouted. "What's everyone doing out here?!"
"My, my, my," Botan chimed, sighing deeply as Kuwabara and Yukina approached them. "Love is surely floating in the air today."
Tsuki's eyes crinkled. Seeing Yukina reminded her of Hiei.
"Hey, Urameshi!" Kuwabara eyed Puu. "What's that thing in your head? And why do you have an egg, Tsuki?"
"None of your business!" Yusuke snapped, brushing him off while he entered the hotel.
Kuwabara scratched his head. "Jeez, what's going on with him? I thought him and Keiko were done fighting."
"They already made up," Botan replied. "You'll find out everything once we get into the room."
"Yes, that's including my egg," Tsuki continued, eyeing his bandages. "But Kuwabara, I'm glad you're looking better. Yukina did a great job."
"Of course, thanks to my princess," Kuwabara gave Yukina a loving gaze. "Now I have the strength to carry on the fight."
Yukina blushed and smiled at Tsuki. "Are you sure you don't need any help? I know you're not seriously injured, but it's still been a rough day for you."
Tsuki shook her head. "I appreciate the offer, but I'm fine. A nice water cleansing did the job. Thank you for being here."
"No worries, I'm here to help." Yukina grabbed her hand and squeezed it. "Remember, Tsuki. A healer needs healing too."
Tsuki smiled sweetly. Her hand was so warm. "You're right about that."
Koenma pressed the up button and went into another elevator. "You kids have fun. I already got my entertainment with the dummy today."
"Have a goodnight Lord Koenma!" Botan stated while everyone else waved goodbye.
Once they made it to their floor. The grim reaper proceeded to the girls' room. "I'll get Shizuru and Keiko. They're going to love this."
"I'll call room service," Tsuki stated as her stomach growled. "I'm sure everyone is ready for dinner."
"I sure am," Kuwabara opened the door, allowing the girls to enter first. "It's been a long day."
The scowling Yusuke sat on the couch with Puu stayed on his head.
"Puu!"
"So Urameshi, is that your pet or what?" Kuwabara asked while he took a spot next to the spirit detective.
"Back off, Kuwabara!"
"Cheer up, Yusuke," Tsuki stated after she hung up the phone. "At least it didn't kill you."
"Yeah, whatever," the spirit detective grumbled.
"Have you settled in yet, Yukina?" Tsuki asked.
"Yes," Yukina beamed. "Shizuru said I could sleep in her room. I already put my stuff there."
"That's good. We're here if you need anything."
"Come to me first," Kuwabara said. "I'll be here for you always, my love."
They heard a knock before Botan opened the door.
"Now, what's the commotion?" Shizuru placed a cigarette into her mouth. "I heard Yusuke has something for us to see."
"Puu!"
Keiko's eyes sparkled as she sat next to Tsuki. "What's that on your head, Yusuke? He's adorable."
"Nothing, Keiko," Yusuke growled. "Don't worry about it."
"Ignore him. Just listen closely, everyone," Botan stated enthusiastically. After she explained everything, the group burst out laughing.
"HAHAHAHAHA!" Kuwabara tugged Yusuke's cheek. "I never knew how adorable you were inside! You're as cute as a little girl!"
"Grrr, how adorable is this!" Kuwabara fell to the floor after Yusuke pounded his head.
Kuwabara quickly recovered, grabbing the flushed ice maiden's hand. "Oh, my beautiful Yukina. Would you please heal my itty bitty boo boo and make it feel all better?"
Shizuru abruptly stood and threw punches at her brother. "Give it a rest for one minute, lover boy!" She stated after he crumbled to the ground.
"Puu!" Puu flew happily and settled on the table.
"There you are, cutie. Come to Keiko." Keiko cradled him, touching his black, spiky hair as the rest of the girls surrounded them.
"As if he could get any more girly," Yusuke grumbled.
"So your egg is going to crack soon, Tsuki?" Yukina asked.
"Yes, I'm excited," Tsuki said. "It's hard to explain, but I already feel a deep connection with it."
"You already have a fox, so I don't think it would be that," Yusuke stated. "I wouldn't be surprised if it was a cat or crow."
"Whatever it is." Tsuki gave the egg an adoring expression. "I'm going to give it so much love. I'm sure you and Puu will have a great bond."
"Puu!"
"So did you hear that the semi-finals aren't until the day after tomorrow?" Kuwabara said after sitting back down.
"Yeah, I heard alright," Yusuke stated. "The stupid committee made us fight two rounds in a row just cuz they wanted us wiped out. They're just like everyone else in charge."
"But they didn't," Tsuki replied. "And I'm glad that we're all alive to live another day. Hopefully, they'll stop bothering us."
Kuwabara moved his neck. "Yeah, but I have a feeling our darkest days aren't over yet. The committee or not, we have to deal with Team Toguro. Do you think we're ready?"
"It doesn't matter," Yusuke said, eyebrows furrowing. "We have no choice but to face those assholes head on."
"Puu!" Puu flew and perched on top of Yusuke's head.
"You know what." Keiko approached Yusuke, touching his shoulder. "When you're next to each other, you two kind of look alike. He's even got your hair."
"I'll say the little booger got my hair. He's got it between his retarded claws, and he ain't letting go." Yusuke glared up. "He better not leave me any spirit surprises!"
The door knocked again.
"That was fast!" Botan arose and spun. "It's dinner time!"
"Time flies when you're mocking Yusuke mercifully," Shizuru stated as she lit her cigarette.
Tsuki stood up. "I'll be back. I'm going to see if the rest of our team wants some dinner." She proceeded down the hallway.
"Kurama, it's Tsuki." The priestess knocked on the door. "Dinner is ready if you want some."
Kurama opened the door. He already changed into comfortable attire. "Thanks. I'll be there in the moment."
Tsuki eyed his arms that were wrapped with bandages. "How are you feeling?"
"Better, I was finally able to get the death plant out of my arms. What's that you're carrying?"
"A gift from the gods. I don't know what it is, but it should be ready to hatch soon."
"That's wonderful news." Kurama smiled as he closed the room door. "Well, I leave you to your business. I'm sure you need to make a comfortable spot for it."
"Okay, I'll see you in the living room."
Master Genkai sat on her bed when Tsuki opened the door. "Hey, Genkai-sensei. Dinner is ready."
"Thank you for letting me know." Master Genkai's soft expression turned urgent. "Tsuki, I have something important to tell you."
Tsuki glanced at her. Her tone made her heart jump. She placed the egg on the top of her pillow and settled down on the bed.
"Tomorrow, I'm revealing my identity to the dimwit. He's progressing, but nowhere near the level of beating Toguro. It's time for him to take the test."
"What test?" Tsuki asked.
"It's two tests. If he successfully passed the first one, then I'm transferring my spiritual orb into his body," Master Genkai informed her. "If he's able to withstand the power, the dimwit will be able to stand a chance in the finals. Though, it won't be an easy test. My orb can probably kill him."
Tsuki held back a gasp. Her body stiffened at the remark.
"I know you're worried, but this is the only way to beat Toguro. I need you to be strong for the dark battle that lies ahead. I came here knowing my fate. The path I chose may be harsh, but it's worth the risk I'm willing to take. I want you to remember that."
"Ok, I will." Tsuki rubbed her egg and heaved. I can do this.
