This is the third part of the "Worth" series, following both "Worth Busted Knuckles" and "Worth Mending Fences." In this AU that takes place about a year and a half after Heath joined the family, the Barkley family deals with holidays, births, miscommunications, irritations, and—is it possible?—another wedding or two.

Inspired somewhat by Romeo and Juliet. Upon an accidental meeting, Nick develops a crush on and later falls in love with an Italian woman who recently arrived in the United States with her family & settled in Stockton. I've gotten stalled on this follow-up to Shades of Elsinore, so I'm going to do something I don't usually do – start posting a story before I've finished it. I'm hoping it'll get me going again. I hope you don't mind. Uncle Jim now gets involved with the Barkley Sierra mine.

AU of Season 1 of the Big Valley. Heath does come searching for his family but he also brings along his wife Bret Barkley. The only woman to have been in and survived prison and who stands by her man come hell or high water. And who might not be as enamoured with the family as her husband is. Meanwhile a young Heath does his best to help his two aunts out, after his mother's passing, by getting a job in the mines. The same mines that might just kill him.

A visiting relative helps Heath learn more about his family, his father, and forgiveness.

A few weeks after Season One's "The Brawlers," Heath is fed up with Nick's arrogance. Contrite Nick offers to leave home for six months, change his name, and go where no one knows him. He takes little money and dresses as a saddle tramp, intent on learning what it's like to live without money, without the Barkley name, and without his family to fall back on.

Just a little Barkley banter as Jarrod and the family recover from his period of blindness.

An alternate Court Martial story. Jarrod declines to help Macklin with his plan to trap Alderson, but then grapples with his decision. WARNING - this is pretty dark.

Eugene is home for summer break before starting veterinarian school in the fall. He joins Nick and Heath on a short drive, not having a clue what he's getting himself into, but hoping he'll finally earn respect from his older brothers. But can he stop daydreaming long enough to stay out of trouble? The youngest has to work the hardest to gain respect—and can lose it the easiest.

What happened after the bar fight

In this sequel to "Victoria's Secret," Ian, Jarrod's birth father, arrives in Stockton, wanting Jarrod's help.
