Chapter Forty-Two

Boot Camp

Part Five

Nighttime fell upon the singularity as Class 1A's training session ended for the day. To say that it was hell was an understatement for most of them…it was horrible, to say the least. Comparing the training at school to the training here was like the sun and moon. While it was nice that they didn't have to worry about paperwork or pop quizzes, the training that they were given by the heroic spirits was hell within itself. Especially when they don't hold back. Within the classroom that was considered their living quarters, the students sluggishly made their way inside as most would collapse onto the makeshift bed they made for themselves. While the others were busy chatting and eating, Aizawa was currently on the school's rooftop having a cigarette while looking over the burning city.

"So this is where you've been hiding out," Surtr said, appearing next to Aizawa. "Was beginning to think you were sleeping in one of the closets."

"What makes you think that?"

"You look like a schizophrenic hobo with insomnia problems." She answered before looking over at the burning city.

"Is there a reason why you're up here?"

"Night patrol on this side of the school. You seem to be on edge with what's been going on for the most part."

"Wouldn't you? Especially in a situation like this?"

"...Suppose that's fair for human standards."

"You keep saying that you're not human. Yet you have the appearance of one?"

"I'm an ancient titan from the era of Vikings. You think anyone from your world wouldn't freak out at seeing a giant walking around the earth causing accidental property damage?" She said before presenting herself to Aizawa. "I can take any form I want if I receive the call of summon. I can be a boy, a girl, an adult, a kid, or take the form of my giant form if I want. But I choose this form because it makes moving around in small places much easier."

"...Alright, that's a fair statement...What are your thoughts about this? Do you think we'll survive what about to happen in three days?"

"...You want my honest opinion?" Surtr asked as Aizawa nodded. "No...certain people in your class will not survive. The students with combat abilities, I can see surviving. Those who don't…well I'm pretty sure they would end up as food for the monsters in this place. You included seeing how those glowing eyes of yours can't do anything against magic."

"And Artemis can't do the same thing she did to Jirou because?"

"Are you willing to throw away your understanding of your so-called hero society and place your faith in the hands of the grand servants?" Surtr asked, which caused Aizawa to go silent. "The grand servants are the only ones that can kill the beasts, mainly because they're designed by the planet to do so."

"And you don't think All Might can't do the same?"

"Not unless you find a way to prevent him from returning to his bony state." She answered as Aizawa's eyes widened in surprise at her statement.

"How did you-"

"Aphrodite, she's good at reading minds."

"You servants are annoying."

"Like you humans aren't any better? No offense but you humans kill, lie, steal, cheat, and murder each other with little to no remorse." She said, causing Aizawa to go silent upon hearing this. "Yeah, I wouldn't be so quick to call us annoying~"

"Fine, suppose I can't argue with that."

"I thought so~," She said, dawning a smug expression as Aizawa rolled his eyes in annoyance.

"If you're done, I would like to be alone please?"

"Fine, fine, I'll leave you alone." She said before walking off towards the entrance of the rooftop. "But in seriousness, I would be prepared for losses, because the fight could go south quickly."

"Of course." He said as a sigh escaped his lips. "Of all the time for All Might to not be here." As the underground hero continued to look out into the distance at the burning city, the students of Class 1A were currently getting themselves settled in for the night.

"So…I take it everyone is doing okay?" Momo asked as she noticed Mina, Mineta, Kaminari, and Uraraka's tired deadpan expressions. "Right, stupid question on my part."

"It's not like we're okay, we're just tired," Kaminari said as she placed a blanket over herself. "Even the small breaks we had didn't help."

"I wouldn't call them breaks seeing how they lasted for five minutes," Mineta added. "I'm so tired that I'm not even hungry."

"Pretty sure it's just us," Uraraka stated as she motioned to the others eating. "Everyone else looks tired, but still can move."

"Because they didn't have a crazy knight that can tank just about everything we throw at him," Mina added as she winced a bit due to the pain she felt throughout her body. "Seriously, handsome as Gawain is, he's almost as strong as All Might."

"I would hate to see who would win in a fight between the two," Mineta said as he shivered at the thought of the two fighting each other. "Pretty sure the country would be split in half if that happened."

"On a serious note, what's the game plan for when we have to fight against that demon god pillar thing? Do we charge at and hit him with everything we got or something?" asked Kaminari, causing Momo to shake her head.

"We can't just charge into battle without a plan. That is something Bakugo would do, and we know how that turned out for Uraraka." She said, causing Uraraka to flinch at the memory of being killed. "No, we need to plan things out beforehand. Now we know that he has an assassin and berserker on his side, and we know what they look like. So we're going with the divide and conquer strategy."

"Okay, but how are we going to divide and conquer?" Mineta asked. "I know we can move the samurai dude and the mad knight with a hate boner for Lily, but what about the other knight with the spear?"

"We can have Gawain be the distraction for the mad knight, and we'll be the distraction for the samurai. As stated before, Lily will be the vanguard when fighting against the Corpse King given how she'll be powered up after her ascension."

"Okay, and what about the demon god pillar? What if that thing appears during the fight and attacks us with our guard down?" Uraraka asked as it caused Momo to ponder the question.

"Hm, I know some of the servants and classmates that we have will be busy aiding us with the other servants…If the demon god pillar does make himself known, we'll have to have the servants fill in for us so we can try and attack the demon god pillar. If that doesn't work, we'll have to wing it and hope for the best." Momo answered as she noticed their mixed expressions.

"So we're just going to wing it when the tentacle monster appears?" Kaminari asked as she noticed Momo's pouty expression

"Well, what did you expect!? I've never had to do something like this before. I like to see you with a plan involving magical beings and demons from another world!"

"She has a point. I mean it's not like school prepared us for something like this." Mineta added. "But I'm sure we'll be able to handle it."

"It's not that I don't think we can handle it…but I'm more worried about the others." Kaminari said as she looked over at the other classmates in the room. "We can tank a laser beam from the demon god pillar with the assistance of the nanomachines, but I doubt they can. I mean, don't you remember what happened to Thirteen?"

"Don't remind me," Mina said before looking at the ceiling. "What's…going to happen to us when we're out of this place?"

"What do you mean?" Uraraka asked as the assassin girl looked over at her.

"Things won't be the same when we get back home. Aoyama, Kota, Tokoyami, Sato, and Sero are dead. Shoji and Ojiro are injured and we don't know when they'll wake up. I mean, can you imagine what's gonna happen if the six of us are the only ones that survive this?"

"She's right," Momo said, adding to the conversation. "Authorities will ask questions about what happens within the singularity and how we look now. How do you explain to people that heroic spirits from another world have tasked us with the responsibility of saving the planet?"

"...I mean…we could lie and say it was due to a villain's quirk?" Mineta asked. "If we can't tell them the truth without proof, might as well go with a lie saying that we look like this due to the side effect of being in this place for too long, and it changes the way we look along with our quirk."

"That…might work. I mean a lot of things can be explained if it involves a quirk that manipulates certain things. Having a cover story involving a villain having a powerful quirk could work for the time being." Momo said as she looked over at Mina, Uraraka, Mineta, and Kaminari. "We're gonna need to talk to Aizawa and the others about this, but just so we're clear about one thing. We never tell anyone outside of our classroom about anything Lily informed us about, got it?"

"We figured as much. I mean, who's going to believe anything we say without experiencing it or proof of it." Mina said as the others nodded in agreement.

"Okay, now that we agree with that, I say we get some sleep before tomorrow," Momo said before getting comfortable in the makeshift bed they made with the desks. "If it's anything like today, Gawain is going to be much harder than ever."

"Right…you think if we ask nicely to go easy on us, he would?" Kaminari asked as she noticed her friends looking at each other for a moment before saying in unison.

"No."
