Chapter 631 Clubhouse

"

Jax walked into the clubhouse and found the guys pounding back beer.

"I thought Scarlett told you to watch the drinking," Jax said with a grin. He didn't expect the guys to follow Scarlett's orders when she wasn't around.

"We're only going to have two more before we take our meds," Chibs said.

Jax went to the bar and grabbed a beer. He was going to take his meds with a beer chaser too.

"Did she kick you out?" Tig asked.

"I bet she finally got tired of that ugly face of yours," Chibs said.

"Hey, he's the pretty one in the club," Bobby said. "The rest of us look like real bikers. He looks like a model or some actor douche playing a biker."

"I'm not the only guy in the group that believes in proper hygiene," Jax shot back. "Bobby, you always look like you need a bath and God only knows what's growing in that beard of yours."

"He stores extra food in it," Chibs said. All the guys groaned at the image except Bobby who appeared to be thinking the idea over.

"And when was the last time you washed your jeans?" Juice demanded.

"You're supposed to wash them?" Bobby asked looking down at his crusty jeans.

"So, Scarlett kicked you out?" Tig persisted.

"I told her that I wanted to spend a little quality time with my brothers," Jax said and the guys howled with laughter.

"Yep, she kicked his ass out," Kozik said.

"Want me to talk to her?" Juice asked.

"Scarlett and I are good, but you guys are costing me an all expense paid vacation to Hawaii with her. I tried to talk her down to Catalina, but she wasn't having it."

"You should have suggested the Alcatraz tour," Happy said seriously. "It's a lot of fun."

The men began laughing as they pictured Jax taking Scarlett on a romantic trip to see an old disused prison in San Francisco. It was no wonder Happy was always single, Jax thought.

"Juicy boy will go with you, Hap," Chibs said.

"I wouldn't mind checking it out," Juice replied.

"We could all go and make it an MC field trip," Happy said his eyes shining bouncing a little in his seat with excitement. He was well on his way to being very drunk.

Jax washed his pain meds down with his beer and joked around with the guys. It was these times when they were united and having fun together when he fell in love with the MC all over again.

This situation with Clay was going to be tricky. He couldn't discuss it before the meeting except with a select few that he trusted completely Opie, Piney and Chibs before he confronted Clay. He was certain they would be on his side. That gave him a solid four votes including his.

Clay, on the other hand, had himself, Tig, Happy and Juice that would be solidly on his side. Tig was his SA and would always support him unless Tig saw that the cost of supporting Clay was too high. Clay sponsored Juice. Juice thought it was because he was taking a fatherly interest in him, but Jax thought it was more likely that Clay sponsored Juice to have another vote at the table. Clay never did anything without thinking about the politics of the table. Juice could be persuaded but it would take some effort. Happy was the most difficult. He was a straight up soldier and would follow Clay anywhere as the president of the MC. The only way that would change would be if he could convince Happy that Clay had betrayed the MC and then Happy would want to kill him.

Bobby might lean a little in his direction. As for the others, they could be convinced. He had a fair chance of succeeding, but that wasn't good enough. When he brought Clay to the table, he had to have more proof to get his brothers to kick Clay out of the MC.

He couldn't meet with the guys individually to plead his case before the meeting because it would get back to Clay and Clay would try to kill him before that meeting happened. That's what happened to his father and he'd be damned if he'd let it happen to him.

Starting a civil war in the MC wasn't what he wanted. Sometimes a chapter never recovered from that kind of split and he didn't want to split SAMCRO into two chapters one following him and the other following Clay.

It was one of the worst times to be unhealthy. Normally, he'd pay a visit to Unser and get the truth out of him, but it would be a few more weeks before he had the ability to physically persuade him. There was no doubt in his mind that Unser knew more than what was in his police reports. He could offer Unser protection from MC retaliation if he came clean about what really happened the day JT was killed. As much as he would like to turn the MC loose on Unser, he was too useful to the MC to be killed unless there was no other way.

Over the next few weeks, he had to plan his move on Clay with military precision because failure wasn't an option. He had to strip Clay's patch, take control of the MC and preserve the brotherhood.

Most of all, he had to stay alive to do it.
